A Boston favorite. We walked in and had to wait not very long for bar seats. We had a great evening and the food was fresh and seasonal. We sampled across the menu and cannot wait to go back. Wonderful alcohol pairings too recommended by the helpful bar staff.

I was lucky to grab a reservation at Giulia (around midnight 2 weeks before). There does seem to be bar seating for walk-ins, but it filled up fast. Overall there were a couple of items that I enjoyed, but the rest fell a bit flat for me. I think the sister restaurant Moeca is more up my alley. Great, would get again - Tooker Out cocktail ($16): This was described as a tiki drink by our waiter, and it was really delicious! I liked the touch of the "g" imprinted on the ice cube. - Focaccia with white bean dip ($10): Delicious bread with great texture, and yummy dip. Moeca tends to have a more sour dip so I appreciated the flavor on this one. Fine, probably wouldn't get again - Wild striped bass ($34): While the skin was nice and crispy and the fish was decently cooked, this wasn't particularly special. - Warm semolina cakes ($16): This was decent, but the flavors were a bit too acidic for me. - Tagliatelli ($29): This is a pretty good serving size, and quite hefty and rich. Didn't stand out to me. - Beef brisket and prosciutto tortelli ($42): Not many tortelli, and they were a bit too al dente for my taste. Truffle doesn't add much (other than to the price). - Strawberry cheesecake gelato ($10): I didn't like the gelato -- too gloopy and heavy. I enjoyed the crunchy parts and the cookie. Moeca definitely has better desserts. The restaurant has a pleasant ambience with good service (and 3% kitchen appreciation fee). The total for 2 people came out to $172 before tip. I am definitely open to giving Giulia another try someday, but I wouldn't go out of my way or wait for it.

Very very good Italian food. I would say it is about the same quality as fox and knife. So until you can pull off reservations give them a try . Giulia does have larger portions with main dishes . Service was friendly and attentive. I will 100 percent come back. Unicorn oysters-4/5 shucked well and very fresh. Good acidity added and ramps add a nice bite chicken liver crostini- very smooth and savory with a bit of salt toast was nice and crispy 5/5 hamachi crudo- refreshing frit flavor with some acidity. Hamachi was very tender and fresh, but the side did drown its flavor out. Still very good for a hot summer day 4/5 pappardelle- Signature dish. So savory and full of flavor. Pasta was so tender and al dente. Large pieces of wild boar. Such a good dish 5/5 Pistachio gelato. Strong natural pistachio taste. Gelato had great consistency. Very simple but very good 5/5

Great spot for sharing some small plates with a group, but for great pasta dishes you might want to look elsewhere. Giulia is a modern Italian restaurant with fresh takes on old classics. The ambiance is intimate and neighborhoody, without sacrificing class and the service is absolutely top notch. Appetizers are interesting and delicious, but very very small. The pasta dishes are very hit or miss, and again, quite modest especially when you factor in the price. Nothing was bad, but several pastas were quite underwhelming.

I enjoyed sitting at the bar, although if you’d like a table a reservation is recommended Fri/Sat night. We ordered a bit from each offering and it did not disappoint. The olives and almonds are delicious! Burrata was also really tasty! I’d love to go back and try more things! I will say parking is quite the nightmare as it is mostly residential permit only for a large portion of the area.

This restaurant is so good we went there for two of our four nights in Cambridge. The wild boar pappardelle is to die for! Wonderful service--they remembered us on our second visit forty-eight hours after the first. And compared with other restaurants of that quality, I would say the prices are quite reasonable. Thank you so much for two memorable meals!

Amazing service. We got there at 5 and waited in line to eat at the bar, we ended up getting a table due to a late cancellation. Portions are on the smaller side but not necessarily in a bad way, they are just big enough. The portions would be perfect for a pasta and a secondi as they do in Italy. The bolognese was great, same with the calamari pasta special. The ricotta goat cheese agnolotti was also amazing. This place is much better than anything you will find in the North End. A must go for great pasta. The features Negroni with basil infused vodka was also a must. The same can be said for the Affogato for desert.

We had the unicorn oysters, the prosciutto plate, the nostrale, hamachi crudo, the halibut, and then for pasta we got the ricotta and fresh herb agnolotti which was incredible. Pictures below in that order. To top it off we got the pistachio gelato with chocolate pistachio cookies and it was the second time I’ve had the pistachio gelato here (I love it so much) but the cookies made it even better. We also had the coconut panna cotta with rhubarb sorbet which was delicious. My girlfriend said it was a 20/10. We will definitely be back.

The restaurant is small inside, a bit crowded, packed with everyone else who saw the NY Times article. The food was high quality and creative. Pasta dishes were somewhat small but this is expected with the traditional Italian format of the menu. The service was exceptionally attentive as well. I felt nothing really popped out at me as extraordinary. The place was beautiful and the staff was extremely nice. Every item felt like it was either under salted or missing acid. For example the bean spread on flatbread, if it had a squeeze of lemon in the beans or if the onions were properly pickled or if they had done a drizzle of pomegranate molasses it would have been significantly better. Also a drizzle of olive oil would have gone a long way. For the ragu the meat was tough sadly but the sauce was delicious. For the sausage everything tasted amazing but the sausage itself was not my favorite kinda just tasted like Hebrew Nationals. The bread pudding had no texture and the passion fruit sauce was totally overpowering but also just tasted of lemons, that is there was no passion fruit flavor. The mushroom pea pasta was my favorite. It was simple but again missing some sort of acid. The drink tasted like lemonade and was nothing special.

Oddly frigid experience from getting there ten minutes early and being told we could not get a drink at the bar to being hustled by the waiter to finish our food and were not slow eaters. Every encounter was like we were troubling them with even the most basic expectations of how dining should work. We had no allergies, made no requests, and ordered and ate promptly but for some reason seemed to be a bother. Food was great! My only issues were cocktails came out after food arrived, which is my pet peeve. I would rather have had wine with dinner but when cocktails arrive late I'm still drinking my cocktail through dinner. Also, sharable food would arrive at the table and we wouldn't have plates or silverware to eat it with. Hate staring at my food with they are scrambling to get organized. So, needless to say if the service matched the food this would have been a great experience.

Reservations are released two weeks in advance at midnight and go almost immediately, so set an alarm. I witnessed a few walk-ins that were seated at the bar, but most got turned away, so I recommend planning ahead. Giulia is on the same street as a lot of other poppin' restaurants, so you should also account for parking when you come (I was lucky to have found a spot nearby, and it was free thanks to the holiday!). Logistics aside, I am happy that I finally got to try this place. The inside was larger than I expected. The vibes were casual but classy, with dim lighting, a bar, and comfortably spaced tables. The plates are on the smaller side, so expect to order more than you usually would. 1.5 pastas were enough to satisfy me, though I could have finished both of the plates that I ordered had I not ordered sfizi. - Chicken liver crostini with green tomato marmellata ($8): The crostini was fresh and crispy, and the chicken liver was thick and savory. The marmellata added a complimentary citrus flavor. Overall, it was a good appetizer to prep the palate, but it was not mind-blowing enough to get again. - Warm semolina cakes ($16): Served warm indeed. The cakes were soft and sat in a bed of thick taleggio that did not taste as strong as the texture implied (more of a mild cheesy flavor). The apples added a nice crunch but weren't sweet. The truffles didn't add much, even though I believe they are the reason this sfizi is overpriced. - Bucatini all’amatriciana with house-cured pancetta ($27): Some of the pancetta was overcooked and too hard as a result, but the pieces that were good were GOOD: crispy, fatty, and salty (a bit too salty for my liking, but I understand that that is one of pancetta's hallmarks as it is meant to replace salt in certain recipes). The bucatini was not al dente but still tasted good and homemade. The sauce was lightly sweetened but a bit boring. - Pappardelle with braised wild boar ($30): Pepper was the dominant flavor, so if you are not a pepper fan, you will not like this dish. The pappardelle was al dente and flavorful. Like the pancetta, some of the boar was overcooked and dry, but most of the pieces were tender. There was a good ratio of pasta to protein. Overall, I enjoyed this more than the bucatini. - Affogato with cinnamon gelato, dark chocolate nemelaka, and crumiri cookie ($14): I'm glad I was able to get the espresso decaf. This dessert was okay; not something I would get again. The star was definitely the nemelaka: silky, intense, and melted-in-your-mouth. - Sicilian pistachio gelato with chocolate pistachio cookies ($12): I added this dessert last minute, and it became my favorite dish of the night, so I highly recommend it! The gelato was refreshing and not overly sweet, and the pistachio crumbs added the perfect crunch. The cookies were crunchy on the outside but chewy on the inside, with a brownie-like texture and taste. The chocolate dominated the pistachio flavor in the cookie, but that was compensated by the pistachio gelato. I liked that my server called out which dishes were staples on the menu so that you could see what the hype was about or prioritize the dishes that are more likely to rotate if you plan on coming back since the staples are more likely to still be around the next time. Overall, I enjoyed my dinner and did not feel like the effort to make the reservation was in vain.

Reserving a spot here is tough. Like waiting for it to turn midnight 2 weeks prior and racing against others doing the same thing via Open Table app tough —but it is incredibly worth it, and I'd do it again and again. The food here is masterfully crafted and every dish is on lock. These people own the pasta game out here. The papardelle with wild boar is the king of savory and is a MUST have. The roasted squash agnolotti is the marriage of savory & sweet which is my personal favorite. We had to come here for their V-day 5-course pre-fixe menu and it was phenomenal. They had hamachi as an appetizer choice. I've never heard of any Italian restaurant having any kind of sushi and I'm a huge sushi buff —and this was a top shelf omakase level dish. The dark chocolate cake with passion fruit curd and brown butter gelato is the dessert to get. Insane. I will never look at Italian food the same. I'm ruined. I'll be back. Thank you.

I’ve visited Giulia two other times before this, the last being a few years back. It’s as good or better than I remembered. Reservations required, otherwise you can show up at opening and try to grab a bar seat, which there was a line for and even after the years still fills up immediately, even on a weeknight. The food is amazing - from bread to antipasti, entrees etc are all fantastic, and the prices reflect that but aren’t ridiculous for fine dining in the area. Service is friendly and easy. They did great. Folks dress a little nicer but it definitely isn’t stuffy. People treat it as a special night out so they seem to dress for it, but was there a person sitting at the bar with their bright multicolored sporty winter coat (like a snowboard jacket) while wearing AirPods the whole time? Yep, but no one seemed to care. Great spot recommend for dates, smaller gatherings (there’s a bigger table in the back but it’s mostly 2 and 4 tops)

Michael creates an environment in his kitchen that seems to be reflected throughout the restaurant, which is a rarity. The care that goes into the menu choices, and the servers knowledge of the dishes and the wines that go with them, is impeccable. Went for our 10th anniversary. Very special day for us. It's a normal restaurant. Our server was fast, neutral, and aloof. Felt sorry for them; seemed like they wanted to quit and move out of town. A different employee randomly checked on us. Felt like a respectable business deal. That would be cool if this was a foreign currency exchange, but we thought it was a cozy Italian restaurant. It does have a warm inviting interior. Very snobby crowd. Embarrassing old white boomers pretending to act wealthy. We think we saw a "sugar daddy" trying to charm their "sugar baby". Bizarre and uncomfortable, yet funny. The food was cool, finished it in a few bites. Not worth the bill. Looks like the restaurant is trapped in a demand side inflation spiral or the chef owner is price gouging. On the surface it looks amazing, but when you look around it's just a schtick. Can't blame them for the embarrassing old white people. Work on those prices and taking care of the employees. Very close to MBTAgifts which is awesome. On a scale from zero to Comfort Kitchen in Dorchester, I give it a 4.

Absolutely well prepared great spin on all the classics. The prices are high, although not outrageous, and the portions are moderate, not huge, but not small either but given the richness and flavor of most dishes that really works in this case. Service was efficient and friendly, and the interior was a nice mix of rustic and modern vibes. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to previous google reviews as I had anticipated. With pasta dishes around $30 each, I was hoping for delectable flavor creations with each dish. My partner and I ordered two classic pastas: the bucatini all’amatriciana (with house-cured pancetta, tomato, and pecorino), and the pappardelle (with braised wild boar, juniper, foraged mushrooms, and parmigiano). The server recommended both dishes as mainstays of Giulia, so we were excited to taste both pastas. The pastas were brought out fairly quickly. First, the bucatini — the pancetta was nicely crispy and seasoned, and the sauce was a sweet and savory blend. It was good but not amazing. Second, the pappardelle — the boar was tougher than expected and the pappardelle was cold. This was the dish that was more disappointing based on the hype around it, especially because I know what a good braised boar can taste like. Overall, not a bad experience, but not as special as hoped for.

We ate at Guilia to celebrate two birthdays. Everything was EXCELLENT! They honored our reservation request for the best table in the house, and it was. They remembered our note that this was two birthdays and sent dessert with candles and very little noisy fanfare. The drinks and food were imaginative and delicious. Cassie, our server, was attentive, friendly and understated. She explained everything clearly and called us "sir" and "ma'm" and "dear" instead of the ubiquitous "guys" that has polluted the restaurant lexicon. The runners who delivered our food and cleared the table between courses were the same, smiling, quiet and efficient. It was a great evening and we recommend Giulia to anyone looking for a fabulous dinner.

Left paying over $500 for two people and was still hungry. Possibly the smallest portions of food we've ever had. Although it tasted good, I shouldn't need to get a second dinner after spending that much...

This restaurant never fails to please. The wild boar and duck were just delicious as was the beet salad, chicken liver crostini starters. Food presentation, waiter service, attention, knowledge on wines was all great and added up to a very pleasant evening.

I had received multiple recommendations from friends about Giulia, so I was quite excited to try the restaurant. However, my party and I had probably the worst service experience of our lives here. In fact, no restaurant experience has compelled me enough to write a review until my dinner at Giulia. Yes, that is how bad it was. First off, the food was excellent. We ordered the semolina cakes, burrata di andria, bucatini all’amatriciana, and duck and prosciutto ravioli. In particular, the semolina cakes have a strong truffle presence, the pancetta on the bucatini was delicious, and I loved the flavor pairings of the burrata. The ravioli was a bit too salty. I think they have also cut back on the serving sizes compared to a few years ago. The atmosphere was also great; it was cozy. The service, on the other hand, was utterly horrible. To preface the following review, my party and I have all worked in the food service industry, meaning we understand the complications and frustrations associated with this job. We always give servers the benefit of the doubt, never have complaints, and tip well. I say this because we are not the ones to nitpick a restaurant's service, especially during the holiday season, but the fact that I am writing this review right now goes to show how dissatisfied we were. We had planned to go light on the dishes as we weren't particularly hungry. Our waiter made some snarky remarks about the amount of food we were ordering. Maybe he was trying to be funny, but he just came across as condescending. It honestly felt like he thought we couldn't afford the meal or something. I hate to make assumptions, but perhaps his attitude was racially charged. Our waiter held this snide attitude throughout the night, to the point where we just wanted to leave as soon as possible. We didn't even want to order dessert because we felt unbearably uncomfortable in his presence. His service genuinely ruined the entire experience for us. I never want to return, which is a shame because the food was delicious.

Not a super fancy looking restaurant (a serendipity of some sort) but one of the hardest to book and tastiest place I've ever been to. Every dish had the perfect amount of creaminess and I didn't feel overly full or sick afterwards. The desserts were to die for— so refreshing and not overly sweet. The truffle dessert is very innovative and they truly made it work. It was SO delicious, and the aroma of truffle was almost infused in the ice cream it was scrumptious. The other dessert was more fruity: kiwi with Thai basil ice cream. The slight tanginess of the kiwi paired with sweet creamy ice cream created the perfect balance. If you are ever in Boston, try to book this restaurant ahead of time!

Our waiter Mike was lost and uncommunicative. He only managed a smile when he presented the bill and it was time to tip. Food portions were small and the desserts tasted medicinal. Overall the $300 we spent were avoidable.

Great food, one of those really tasty places. Servers were all very friendly. I love the details like the g imprinted on the ice cubes. Bolognese was decent, ceci pasta was yummy. Worth a nice night out. Would also recommend the focaccia, it was warm and soft. Steak was also served with a great sauce.

One of the best meals of my life. Giulia is the only restaurant I've been to where every dish I've ever ordered on the menu has been good, and 90+% have been truly exceptional. I'm an NYC native, and I travel to Boston often. I enjoy an meal at Giulia more than any NYC restaurant, including some of the most celebrated Italian restaurants in the city. Special thanks to the dessert chef, the dark chocolate cake with fig jam and red pepper gelato as well as the caramel tart with frosted almonds and apple cobbler gelato were both superb. It is so so nice to see an Italian restarant that doesn't limit itself to just tiramisu and panna cotta. The food at Giulia is creative, and never at the cost of being delicious. Highlights include the oysters, chicken liver crostini, and caponata for apps. They also usually run a great salad, often citrusy which is a nice lightness. For pastas, the boar, bucatini all'amatriciana, and bolognese are always great. The halibut main was also delicious. I'd say this is the most consistent restaurant I've ever been to; feel confident about ordering anything

Excellent food, service and cozy atmosphere. The flatbread appy with pea green pesto, pine nuts and prosciutto excellent; roasted squash agnolotti entree was amazing; pappardelle with braised wild boar was good but not quite tasty enough; caramel mousse tart was to die for. We were recommended a big bold Italian red wine which was also very good.

We really enjoyed our food, hosts were super accommodating and were able to seat us early. However, our server left much to be desired. Not just flat but was not interested in being pleasant while taking our orders or dropping off the check, etc. Was really offputting and surprising since we’ve normally had much better service.
