Visited in the early evening on 28 May ‘24 and enjoyed superb garlic halibut & delicious waterfront salad, and Tuscan salmon. Friendly service and outstanding food. No alcohol but that allows younger adults to work at the place. Highly recommended.

Great spot on Main Street Seward, killer chowder!! We also had the halibut bites and crab legs. Split captains platter with my wife and we both left stuff. No alcohol available here.

Solid food but pretty crowded and the service reflects that

We had a large table the wait was pretty short 30 minutes. The prompt knowledgeable server delivery fresh delicious food. My halibut andaman is the very best halibut meal I’ve ever had & the sourdough bread was to die for. Delicious!

Pretty good food for a tourist town - it’s a pretty simple menu and somewhat pricy but understandable given the location. Burger was your standard burger, nothing special. Halibut tacos were good although not that big. The highlight for me were the fries - perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside with just the right amount of seasoning (fwiw I think the Parmesan garlic upgrade didn’t add much to the fries since they were already great).

Not very good, halibut fish and chips were terrible. Surf and turf had tiny steak shavings and again the bat fried fish. Salmon was overcooked and didn’t taste like much. Small portion sizes as well for how expensive it is.

Honestly, one of my favorite places to eat in Seward. It's family owned and run and the food is well made with great flavor. It's where I bring family and friends visiting from out of town :) love their lightly breaded fish and chips!

My husband and I ordered halibut garlic, steak garlic and pie with ice cream for dessert. Everything was 5/5 it was delicious.

Small place but great local talent. We had the Cajun pasta and Surf&Turf along with the spicy onion rings - all were excellent choices. Great waitress, fast service and food delivery to table. All in all great dining experience.

We enjoyed the garlic butter halibut, salmon, seafood pasta and chowder! The fish and chips were ok. Cod was tastier than the halibut version. The price was expected and there is a wait when it’s busy

After reviewing their on-line menu, I picked the “Cod Fish & Chips,” $11.00 less than the halibut fish & chips. When I drove there, the more expensive halibut was the ONLY fish & chips on the menu. When I asked “What happened to the cod,” I was told the just ran out. True? or bait-n-switch?? I know which one I think it was. I left and ate elsewhere.

Most expensive fish & chips I have ever had in my life ($47) and was just average. They don’t serve alcohol so I had to pair my fifty bucks dry fish with an awesome glass of fresh water. Overpriced food, average service (probably not their fault, they might be understaffed) and a kitchen ran by teenagers. We ended up having a pizza and a beer in the brewery next door, what we enjoyed. I give them two stars because the fries were good and the hike up to the glacier we made today was so great that I feel positive.

Gold Rush Bistro was recommended by the free Sewerd shuttle service and was billed as the best Fish and Chips in town. We went for an early dinner and found that the food was amazing, our server was fantastic and knowledgeable. Fish and Chips were great, the burger was awesome and the chowder was perfectly made.

Completely nuked the halibut dry - I would not be surprised if it was partially cooked in the microwave. Served with a 2cm wide wedge of lemon that you cannot squeeze. Salad did not have any dressing, just water from not drying it. Had to flag down the waitress multiple times to get service. Tacky decor is probably from Home Goods or TJ Maxx. I guess charging $42 can't cover operating costs to serve palatable food.

We went to the Bistro for the chowder and it was really good. Good flavor and lots of clams.

Best fish and chips I've had outside of Scotland. We had both the Halibut and the Cod, the latter is fine but it's certainly worth upgrading to halibut. It's also worth noting their chowder is the best in Seward.

The clam chowder was outstanding. My child, who eats nothing, loved the kids meal noodles.

I was served undercooked cod and it wrecked the last few days of our trip. Teach the kids in the kitchen about food safety.

Stopped here based on the reviews. We started with the chowder, which I thought was excellent. Had the fish and chips combo with both salmon and halibut. Fish was good, but not much flavor to the breading, and a very light breading. One other person in our party had the garlic halibut with rice, which was very good. Serve was excellent, and the restaurant was very busy. I would suggest getting a reservation, otherwise you will be waiting. A bit pricey considering it was fish and chips.

The Garlic Halibut was flavorful and filling. A hearty portion of seared Halibut with a huge amount of garlic in butter. It even comes with a salad. The chocolate thunder is huge! The staff were very friendly. We will come again.

The food and atmosphere were quite pleasant. The server was super nice and gave great suggestions. I really enjoyed the seafood Alfredo and thought that they did a terrific job preparing the fish and scallops. The clam chowder here is also phenomenal.

Great experience and great food!

We had a great time having dinner. I had the Gold Pan and it was a great choice. The crab was perfect and plentiful. We shared it between two and it was quite enough. The chowder is also very good. We really enjoyed everything. The homemade Forest Pie was delicious to finish off the meal! Very good service and simple, family atmosphere. We could hear each other talking at the table, which is not the case in every restaurant in town. It was appreciable.

This bistro made an accommodation for our party and were so kind! The food was delicious - salmon and halibut were cooked perfectly. The chocolate cake was super rich and large. The fish and chips was perfectly moist and the ranch was homemade with a great flavor. Highly recommend!!

Amazing food! Great value with large portions. Our waitress was incredible, frequently refilling waters without making us feel watched or uncomfortable, she was also incredible about letting us split dishes. Even providing extra plates and silverware. 100% would go back! 🥰

Food was delicious but prices are high and appetizer portions are small. I was with a group and we shared all 3 appetizers, and I got the grilled halibut. I did try my friend's halibut and salmon fish and chips, it was underwhelming

We had an great dinner here last Saturday evening. I ordered the Seafood Chowder and it was excellent. Flavorful with seafood and vegetables. It was blended well with no big clumps of potato or anything else to take away from the great taste of the chowder. Next I had the halibut tacos and they were also excellent. The halibut was cooked the way it should be, moist with a light breading. Really good. My husband had the halibut and chips and the halibut was moist with a light batter. The way it should be cooked. The chips were good with a nice crunch. Great meal, good service. I highly recommend Gold Rush Bistro, especially if you are in Seward for the halibut or other seafood. Some of the other restaurants could definitely learn from their chef on how to cook halibut the right way.

Absolutely delicious. Well balanced and put together dishes , one better than another. Family owned and operated. Give them a try, would not be disappointed.

Service was slow. Prices high. Fish and chips was light on fish. Kitchen and wait staff all appear under 18.

It's the best clam chowder ever. Food in general and desserts were great, but the clam chowder is the best we have tried.

Lovely atmosphere, and the food got to my table quickly. The presentation was great. The pasta I ordered was not only vegetarian friendly but full of nice crisp veggies topped with rich & satisfying alfredo sauce (a bit thin for my liking but delicious none the less.) The gorgonzola cheese garnish was a nice touch as well as the piece of lightly toasted ciabatta bread, perfect for dipping in the alfredo sauce. All the flavors complimented each other well There are no alcoholic beverage options. However, the hot tea with cream and honey was high quality and a nice change of pace. Kristen, the server was quite pleasant and accommodating. All and all it was a good experience and I would recommend it especially to anyone looking for a tasty vegetarian option.

Good food, normal pricing (for Alaska); service is good and fast, but still don't rush you out. Portion is normal size; the seafood pasta Alfredo is good. Not a culinary high experience, but good quality meal.

The food was very salty! The salmon dish we got was good but all the rest was salty (Parmesan fries, fish and chips kids menu). The chicken strips from the kids menu was processed chicken 😐 didn't taste like chicken. The girl that served us was nice.

What a gem this place is! We had a wonderful meal this evening. My husband ordered the King Crab meal and was very happy with it. The meal included a very tasty seafood chowder. I had the fish tacos and they were delicious! We also ordered the onion rings and they were good but a little spicier than we were expecting. Our friends ordered the grilled halibut and enjoyed it very much. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient and our food came out in a timely manner. All in all, a delightful meal! We would definitely return again!!

Such yummy food! We thought the portions might be a little small but turned out to be the perfect amount. My husband got the burger and I got the halibut tacos and both were so yummy! Onion rings were good too. Highly recommend making a reservation using the waitlist link on their instagram as each night we’ve come there’s been a line out the door

An impressive dining experience. The food was quite decent for such a small town. The menu is great, and the service was high quality. The price is higher than comparable food in Los Angeles or New York, however. So I am rating it in comparison to what I expect at this price point, which is quite a lot. The Waterfront Salad with Halibut was my favorite item. I also really liked the sweet potato fries, which had a perfect crunch to them. The crab was expensive and just about average.

Food was outstanding. Fish and chips were so delicious. Will be back!

The Tanner crab and soup was excellent. Two people in our party loved the Garlic Halibut. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Started with a great seafood chowder. Best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Lightly breaded to perfection. The salmon with garlic cream sauce was also amazing. You will not regret choosing this place over the others. Try to sit next to the window for great views of the mountains.

A cute little restaurant in downtown Seward. The Ambiance is casual and open. Service was friendly and accommodating. The closing time was listed as 9 pm. The food was quite tasty. The garlic Parmesan fries had big cloves of garlic. The halibut fish tacos were tender and the pineapple salsa was a nice touch. The halibut fish and chips were good, but for the price, my husband was expecting more. The grilled salmon was good, but slightly overcooked in my opinion. The fruit pie and the large chocolate cake were great, both large enough to share, especially the chocolate cake which was dark and super rich. Prices overall were on the high side, and we are coming from Southern California so we are used to high prices.

Good was delicious. I got the salmon. Cooked wonderfully and a great sauce. also has the forest berry pie. Would highly recommend.

Great service and good food. The only thing we would change would be to add a little more breading to the halibut so it could get crispier. Even with that, the fries and halibut were both very good. We upgraded to the garlic Parmesan fries, and they had real garlic chunks.

Delicious food with great service. We had the Halibut fish and chips and the grilled garlic halibut and everyone was very happy with their choice. They do not serve any wine or beer so that will not suit everyone but the food is definitely worth it.

The fish and chips used to be sooooo much better. I know it’s been years since I’ve stopped last as I always make my own but after a day of snagging we needed something to eat and I sadly recommended this place based on the last time I’d stopped. We were all very disappointed except my sister who ordered the chowder also.

The food here is fantastic! But here is my issue if your not seating people or doing orders to go then turn off your open sign. Or don't say that you are open till 9pm. Don't tell people that your not taking orders then turn around and take an order from a table after being told this. It's very disappointing when you really want to eat local and at a place that is good. We want to eat and support local but it's hard when you are only worried about a wait list. What happened to first come first served.

Our first dinner in Seward, amazing! Halibut tacos were awesome but the honey glazed sweet potato fries with bacon were out of bounds! Hats off to the chefs. We will be back before we leave. Dave

Neat little diner that is busy enough to warrant a wait-list. Service was wonderful, but the food didn’t live up to the reviews. Salmon was a bit overcooked, the chicken strips over-fried and there is no alcoholic drink options if that’s what you are looking for. Recommended for a quick lunch, but not dinner.

The burger here might be the best one I've ever had. The fries are awesome as well. We got our food to go and they were very busy at the time so there was a bit of a wait. Let me tell you it was well worth it.

It was a perfect place to end our Alaska experience.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Seward! Every time I’ve been in, the service has been fast and friendly and the food has been excellent. I try to order different dishes every time, and everything I’ve had has been cooked perfectly. The chowder is definitely a favorite of mine. I will be back again and again!

The crab legs were very good. So was the chowder. It was just very expensive for the amount of food you get. I was hungry 3 hours later. But still, high quality!

The atmosphere, service and quality of the food were very good. Quantity of food and value are bistro. Don't expect to pay cheap or eat a lot. The fries were the best I've ever eaten. The King Crab is very good! I recommend.

Delicious meal. Fresh and tasty. Gold Pan was so good, as was pan seared halibut with waterfront salad. Chocolate cake was a mile high!

I was having lunch May 16th and ordered the halibut & fries. I only ate two small pieces but became very ill by the next day. I was sick for 3 days on the cruise ship and that is the only thing I ate that my husband had not. I’ve never been sick over food but that was the worst experience ever. I do not write this review out of meanness but they should be more aware of the seafood they serve. We were one of the first cruise ships through the area for the season.

LOVED this place. It was fantastic. Had authentic, fresh Alaskan food. Halibut 3 different ways. I had halibut tacos and they were fantastic. My boyfriend had the halibut fish sandwich and it was also great. The sweet potatoes fries and garlic fries are both really good.

AMAZING burger!! The bun was sweet and buttery, juicy patties and crispy fries. A bit pricey, but we enjoyed it a lot.

Love love love! Best fish and chips! The chips were soooo good - of course the fish too. And the pancakes were absolutely delicious! Home made blueberry sauce! Bacon on the sides were perfect too. Totally energized for the day 😀

Super cute place for lunch option in Seward, off the main drag by the SeaLife center. May be considered “pricey” for lunch, but versus everything else in the area it’s not too far off and we found it worth it. Has a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and an EXCELLENT burger - so good we ended up going twice during our 3 day stay. In short, get the Mount Onion burger if you’re looking for something delicious. Don’t let the pineapple throw you. Just do it.

Fish and chips (chips crispy with Parmesan and fresh fried garlic on top). Awesome light batter. Seafood chowder 5 stars. Really tasty and nice staff. No beer sadly.

Great service and delicious food! We came here for lunch and were seated right away (recommend calling to double check operating hours). The inside of the restaurant is clean, bright, welcoming and very relaxed. We ordered the halibut burger and the cod fish & chips and both were absolutely delicious. The cod was flaky and seasoned perfectly with a light breading! The French fries were cooked perfectly...probably the best French fries I've had a in a very long time. The tartar sauce was the best I've ever had and seemed to be homemade! The halibut burger was also very, very good seasoned and cooked perfectly! Everyone that we interacted with in the restaurant was professional, very friendly and attentive! Highly recommend for a meal while in Seward!

A peaceful and comfortable atmosphere with great food. We loved our table at the window where we could people watch while eating delicious halibut and steak tacos. Staff was great. Nice restrooms. Great location in town near everything.

The salmon was probably the best salmon that I have ever eaten.

This place was fantastic! The staff is incredibly friendly! The seafood chowder is 10/10. And the fish and chips, the salmon entree, and the halibut entree were all super delicious. I’m so happy we came here!

Good food and service. The Pasta Alfredo with seafood was excellent. The salad very good. The only downfall was the chowder. It had so much herbs in it that it was light green. Couldn’t eat it.

Yummmmmmmmm... we had the chowder and and Seafood Alfredo except we made it Cajun. Holy crap, SO good ! And best chowder in Seward that we tried.

This place has hostesses full of piercings and tattoos and act like they don't want to be there. My wife and I have a 2 month old baby and they acted like it was the end of the world. We got sat down and weren't served water for 15 minutes. We ended up leaving to go to a place called Apollos up the road cause we knew they were family friendly. I think this place tries to be too California and less Alaska.

I ordered the halibut sandwich with garlic, french fries. It was the best halibut sandwich I have ever had! I ordered the waterfront salad as well, and it was amazing. Also! Everything was extremely delicious and very fresh! Definitely ordered the halibut sandwich!!!!

Seafood chowder was very good, just a little bit salty. Fried salmon was dry, haddock was ok but not crispy. Dill dip and fries were excellent. Got the berry pie for dessert - ice cream and pie filling were good, but the dough was raw and inedible.

Good place to eat. The food was good but was a little on the high side as we spent $80 for 2 and ordered water to drink.

We had a wonderful dinner here this evening. My wife had the salmon and I had the steak tacos. Christin Ann was a great server and we would recommend! They don't serve alcohol but that was fine with us.

Decent food but it was seriously overpriced for what we got. I get that it caters to tourists, but if looking for a bite in town, I’d go somewhere else next time.

This was our absolute favorite place for dinner the whole month long trip!! All four of us agreed on this-four different orders that were all delicious! Quaint, cozy smaller restaurant.

I’m a harsh critic when it comes to food. This place is deeeeeeelicious! From the Salmon Burger, to the Onion Burger, to the delicious Sweet Potato extra special fries, the food is a HIT! Service was slow- it took a while for them to take our order. Food came out very timely though, and HOT and so good. Would I eat here again? Absolutely, without a doubt!

Over priced for quality. Both the salmon and halibut were incredibly dry. Definitely not fresh. The rice was undercooked and there was not much flavor at all to the main dishes. Onion rings were good though. Woke up with an upset stomach.

Finally one of the places where you can get fresh fish. It was good, however I would have preferred some vegetables with the main course. It’s a nice place and also recommended to reserve a table after 6p.

Incredibly delicious food! Creative menu that adds great flavor to typical seafood menu items. We had the sweet potato fries, the fish and chips and the seafood pasta. All three were amazing! I cannot recommend the fish and chips enough, maybe the best I've ever had!

Small restaurant in Seward, but the food was shockingly good. The prices are a bit hiked up, though not unlike the other surrounding restaurants. This strip is just touristy due to the port. The staff is a bit slow to check up on you, which shouldn't be the case because the whole restaurant is maybe 10 tables. Overall, a nice restaurant and we ate well.

We ordered the burger and the salmon items as well as the garden salad. The salad was delightfully fresh and the dishes were tasty and hearty. The energy drinks were also crisp and refreshing. This was one of the best places to eat during our time in Seward. Staff were friendly and helpful and the restaurant was very clean.
