Shrimp and chicken Hunan style Quite good

Excellent food went there 2 weeks ago two times that week and food was delicious. Their General Tso chicken is amazing. Will be going back more frequently.

The food is just okay. It does the trick if you're craving Chinese food. Service is pretty good though.

Golden Chopsticks has been an Island mainstay for decades, and for good reason. The food is simply the best Chinese you'll find in the Valley. I've been coming here since high school, including after moving to a different state, and I've always felt warmly cared for while enjoying so many delicious things. I went went vegetarian in 2005, and GC's extensive vegetarian menu has fully satisfied me without giving me the uncomfortable tummy rumbles that other Chinese restaurants do. I've not found another restaurant that does General Tso's tofu so well, and believe me, I've tried. People have noted that GC changed ownership in recent years, and that's true. With that, the service has gone down a bit -- a little slower to refill drinks or rice and just generally not anticipating your needs. But the crew is still kind, and the menu has expanded quite a bit.

I dine in once a year with my father - always a pleasure.. but this time was different. I left my wedding ring behind at the table, like a dum-dum. Staff located it & shipped at no charge. Thank you Golden Chopsticks for great food (fried "spicy chicken" = great flavor) and for saving the day, in a big way!

I don’t know what type of people work in this store I orderd food and they charge me extra and they didn’t put food in my bag When I reach home food was not there and when I called they are very unprofessional . I drove 25 min and pay them and when I came home my food was missing in boxes Plz don’t order food from here They are very unprofessional and over priced Fried rice was missing from order

Walked out after being seated. The place was very dirty. Did not eat.

I cannot stress this enough, the best Chinese food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life and I’m very sad that I live in a completely different state, but I am so very happy that I stopped in and got some food while traveling through the town

We had such fantastic take out from here while we were driving through. We got delicious veggie dumplings and two tofu entrees. The General Tso's sauce is so good, the tiniest little spice at the very end to complement the delightful sweetness. The veggie mix in the Home Style tofu was really nice, too. The portion sizes were very generous - perfect for having leftover for the next day. Service was excellent and the food came out nice and fast after we ordered on the phone. We will definitely stop here again next time we drive through!

The food is good but the place isn't very clean. Rice stuck to the walls that's been there for months and when you mention it to the staff they act insulted. Also they opened a sushi bar but don't expect to get sushi during lunch time because that's when they send their only sushi chef to lunch too.

The last few times we've gotten it has been great. Sweet and sour chicken and chicken lo mein. Egg rolls werent tickling my fancy and a lil grease heavy but were sufficient.

Food was really good. We had General Tso’s chicken and General Tso’s shrimp dinners. Generous portion and served with rice. My husband upgraded to fried rice but I just chose steamed rice. Our friends got the pepper chicken and sesame chicken. They said both were delicious.

Wonderful food and setting. Low stress setting with a strong menu. Surprised to have steamed dumplings veg appetizer that was this flavorful. A gem of a restaurant.

Not Golden anymore. I have been eating at Golden Chopsticks ever since Martin opened this place. I worked with Martin when Peking Gardens was in Wheeling. Jimmy too bless his soul. However, the quality is not what it once was since Martin sold this place and the customer service I received while ordering takeout was terrible. I miss Jimmy. He was the best!. I was told that they don’t make sweet and sour pork. Only chicken, beef, or shrimp. and the ginger salad is no more. This was one of my faves! As I was inquiring about Singapore chow mei fun the girl told me to”hold on.” After waiting for a few and being a little frustrated I hung up and called back hoping to get someone else. Another person answered and I asked him what was in the Singapore chow Mei fun. He told me veggies, egg and a protein of my choice like chicken, beef, or shrimp. I am familiar with this dish and know what goes in it. I just wanted to make sure they made it this way. So I ordered this dish with the chicken as well as the sweet and sour chicken. When I got home and opened the containers I was very disappointed at what I saw. The sweet and sour chicken is what you would get a a cheap fast food Chinese takeout. Heavy breading with very little meat and hardly any veggies. Chow mei fun did not have one sliver of chicken or veggies or egg. So sad to this place turn out the way it has. Lots of good memories though. Thanks Martin and Jimmy for the memories.

Definitely the best Chinese restaurant around. The food was hot and fresh, the server was so funny and nice, and we had a great time. Definitely recommend this place. We will be back.

Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had to date is for this really great restaurant! It doesn’t look like much on the outside but the food more than makes up for it! We tried several dishes and all of them were very tasty! A cozy and inviting atmosphere but it can be a little cramped if the restaurant is near capacity. The decor is tasteful, and the staff is always friendly and attentive. Overall, if you're looking for a great Chinese meal in Wheeling, WV, you can't go wrong with Golden Chopsticks.

Do not let the location prevent you from,dining at this local gem. The service was fabulous, the food abundant and deliscious, and the prices fair. The restaurant is indetgoing a rebranding that comes with a menu of sushi and other Japanese specialties. The new name is Howin and is not yet reflected on the exterior of the building.

Come to know and love this place, large portions and friendly staff. Cleanliness is a little lacking and the building is definitely showing it's age

my friend took me for my birthday! I had never been there! was so surprised at the very nice restaurant and the whole atmosphere! waiter was wonderful ! brought me a slice of fried cheesecake with candle in it! so very thoughtful! i shared with my friend ! they sang HAPPY Birthday to me along with the other patrons in the restaurant! was a wonderful day! I will go again!

Good food, good customer service.

1st time I ordered sweet and sour chicken it was very soggy. 2nd time I ordered the same this time it was over cooked to where you couldn't even bite them. No flavored general tso's. Over cooked crab

My favorite Chinese/Asian food in the Valley! Food and service are always excellent, staff is super friendly. The Thai Chili Chicken and Shrimp (pictured) is my go to dish, it is awesome! Also enjoy Hunan chic/shrimp, Triple Crown G-ba, Shrimp Tempura sushi rolls.

Sesame chicken isn't all that good ...same with wontons and general tos we came here because the reviews we great but that's not my experience and it's veryyyyy veryyy slow service

Meh, not terrible. Kung pao isn't usually battered, but it had good flavor. General's chicken was not so flavorful. I ordered extra spicy but it wasn't spicy, AT ALL.

While this place is considered fancy, they do have relatively cheap lunch specials which i get all the time. Ordering general tso chicken should be an insult to this place however, since they serve many very well prepared dishes. New sushi bar is a nice touch, although it is pretty expensive for sushi in my opinion. They also have a bar, and serve alcoholic drinks! Order the Mapo Tofu, you won't be disappointed, and its authentic chinese food.

Best Chinese in Wheeling and surrounding area. Great selection of new and the usual Asian/American foods. Egg rolls and soup are damn delicious. Exquisite entrees are rather large but who doesn't like leftover Chinese for the next day? 😁 Love this place!

Golden is a classic Chinese American restaurant in Wheeling that I have visited for decades. Food is always fresh, generous servings, efficient service, kind and gracious management, comfortable dining room, and tops in Wheeling. Our family enjoys their sushi, hot n sour soup, steamed dumplings, mapo tofu, Chinese eggplant, sesame chicken, Young chow fried rice, kung pao chicken, Chinese angel hair pasta, moo shu pork with Asian pancake wraps, bok choy with shitake mushrooms, sauteed string beans, orange beef, and steamed whole fish. You will not regret and walk out happily full.

Quick decision to get a quick meal when the place that we had used previously was closed turns out we were thankful they were close this place was amazing

There is not supposed to be any smoking but in the gambling area, which is next to the dining room, there is smoking. Not very enjoyable @ all. The place needs an update. I was back in the area, but have been going there since it opened back in the early 90's. The dirt and stains are ground into the carpet and the floors look dirty and dull. The smoking has to go....NASTY! The food.....still the same.....delicious.....don't change the recipes.

The food was amazing as always I got take-out and ordered it when I got there it only took about 10 minutes for the food to be done, I wish I would have grabbed a menu or they would have put one in my bag, with all the new Sushi they have available it would have been nice to have a copy at home to look at.

Delightful menu. The waitress was the owner? The food was well prepared. Portions were large. We had leftovers that we thought about giving to the homeless we saw driving to the restaurant… after lunch, they were gone. Tucked away in a neighborhood, the old fashion, family run charm was in a building that is found in a storybook forest. A 1/2 way break between Columbus and Pittsburgh.

I used to love this place. I do not know what happened. I go in the evenings and my last three visits have been unsatisfying. They sit me right by the bathroom every time. The place could be dead, but they insist on the one small section right by the toilets. It feels like they are rushing you out of there. The tables are never set up fully. Missing place settings. The food has suffered. My crab rangoons are dried out. Lomein is greasy. The prices are too high for low quality. It does have a lot of selection, but if it isnt good, who cares?

Had to order for thanksgiving due to sickness and food was hot fresh and staff was so kind ! Price wasn’t bad either ! Definitely my go to place now ! Thank you all

Best Chinese food I've ever had coast to coast. True hidden gem of wheeling!

Not sure how this place receives such high reviews. Picked up four orders of General Tso for $65. The sauce tasted more like sweet and sour with some added peppers. The fried rice barely had any vegetables and no egg in it. A complete disappointment especially for the cost.

Another Excellent lunch fresh hot and flavors perfect w/Billy as our waiter. Billy is a exceptional waiter, he never missed a beat! He has heart a great personality knows the menu well and has a charming way about him! Thank you Golden 🥢's. 🍚🍤🥠🥟🍜🫖🎎🎏🎍🧧🥰 Amy was our waitress, we ordered Cashew beef Orange chicken and pork lo mein with crab ragoon appetizers. Our food was hot and fresh. When we go back again we will definitely ask for Amy she has a very cheerful happy personality a great waitress our dining in experience was amazing we truly appreciate her serving us. This is "golden roll" in golden chopsticks. This is one of the best sushi that you can order from golden chopsticks!. It has shrimp, tempura, cucumber, cheese with top Kani spicy mayo eel sauce crunchy! If you like all of these, you should try this sushi at Golden Chopsticks! They've got many more different sushies so come and try new different sushi here! (Soju is not included, but we do have Japanese Sake!)

April 28, 2022. I had to stop by again while in the Wheeling W.V. area. Never disappointed in Golden Chopsticks. Chinese BBQ short ribs & Lake Ting Tung Beef w/ Broccoli. Food is always excellent, atmosphere is nice and so are the people. If you find yourself in or close to Wherling, stop on in, you'll not be disappointed. Oct 28, 2020 - Great place to go for Chinese food. If your ever up in Wheeling WV, go over to Wheeling Island and try out Golden Chopsgicks. This is not a buffet! Fresh from the kitchen to your table. Food is great and people are very pleasent.

If you want some delicious gourmet Chinese food with a touch of elegance, you must eat here. Highly recommend.

Food tasted fishy, we ordered General Tso chicken with fried rice no veggies. The rice was not fried, it just looked like they just poured soy sauce on white rice. Not impressed.

The owner is horrible and has no respect to customers. I will now get my food from silver chopsticks. They have my food on time and perfectly heated. Golden chopsticks needs to get their food right and the owner needs to start acting respectfully to his customers more often.

We were visiting from out of town had a lovely time here and ordered quite a few dishes: the peking duck, the house special fried rice, the beancurd and the pu pu platter. It was very quaint and we enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. Special mention to the waiter, Billy, who was exceedingly kind and thoughtful - not only did he provide exceptional service with a smile but he was very observant and noticed that i left my beanie behind - so he ran out to give it to me! Amazing food and excellent service! Will be back :)

Hostess and waitress were friendly. Food was pretty good and a good price. Liked that they took extra care to make sure that my gluten allergy was address and the food was carefully prepared. Check them out next time you're in Wheeling!

Appetizer and entree came out sizzling hot which is great. Order a side of lo mein after being told that you can't substitute your side. Then they forgot to bring the side but brought the lo mein cold. The wait staff seems extremely nice and will check regularly on you.
