Good service, but bland food. So so

I would have given five stars but they need to change the prices on the website and the menu we got our dinner to go to eat at home it was delicious and hot and they give huge portions in the combo dinners we have the almond chicken combo dinner! We are new to the area so we're trying to find our go to spot for American Chinese food exclamation point and it did not disappoint!

I thought the food was good until I got up the next morning. My son and I have been having diarrhea and vomiting every since. I did notice the waitress not wearing gloves. The waitress would serve food to one table and then pick up someone's finished plate. Do not know if those customers were sick or not. Unfortunately, I ordered a chicken and rice deal. There is something about chicken that you really need to be careful about. I do not know how long they had the chicken out of the fridge. Something went wrong and now I am suffering with food poisoning.

What a surprisingly good restaurant. We were on way back from a west coast trip and did a google search on Chinese near me and this was on our way route (ok a bit out but not by much) SO Glad we found this restaurant, the food was fresh, Hot and flavorful...checked every box on our list. Now, a favorite spot we will return to often.

First time we've been back in a while, the service was super friendly and attentive, the portions were huge and tasty. The family meal deals prices are super reasonable and give you a lot for the money. Will return.

I ordered the No.2 dinner combo, Pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork, and pork chow mein... it came with the most bland egg drop soup, the food was flavorless except the sweet and sour sauce...

The food was great the service and the girl who serverd are meal was fun, nice, and awesome the atmosphere was calming and great food was amazing amazing people and restaurant 😋

Great Chinese food in Bremerton!

I was in the mood for some good wonton soup. Was very disappointed. Probably got only one wontons worth of wonton in my wonton soup. Mostly cabbage and no meat. It seems like they're skimping out on quality for profit or something. The atmosphere is ok. But that's not what is important when you go to a restaurant. The food is what it should be about. This place is seriously lacking on quality and flavor. Go to China Wok on Callow. You'll thank me for it. Way better food there.

Kitsap County's best authentic, traditional Chinese restaurant! Don't let the plain exterior fool you. Inside are cozy booths with old school Chinese zodiac paper placemats. Food is outstanding!

My wife asked me to pickup some sweet and sour chicken and fried rice on my way home yesterday evening. Most people in B Town know the Golden Star is a legendary spot and our simple meal lived up to that description. The fried rice was the best in recent memory and the sweet and dour chicken was plentiful, not overly breaded and the sauce was savory. A tasty dinner for two and lunch me me today. Do recommend.

Myself and my family at large have been going to this restaurant for decades and the quality and service that this restaurant has provided has remained the same throughout the years. The food I just had today is just as tasty and what I remembered it to be when I was a kid way back in the 90s. Golden star is a restaurant that can be easy to miss and it truly is a gem in this area. I don't think I could recommend this restaurant more if I tried.

Food is great, but not worth the over hour wait and nobody to help you out. Extremely irritated was told my called in order would be ready by 750pm and still waiting to pick up at 830pm

Love this place! Definitely recommend the dinner deals, a good combo of food for not a bad price at ALL compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area! Love the fried tofu (pictured). Egg flower soup is meh, has celery and water chestnuts in it that throws me off but everything else we've had from here is excellent! Large servings too so you will have plenty of leftovers! (Uploaded photos of the menu, this is the most up to date one in 2024) Also - THEY ARE CLOSED TUESDAY'S!

This was our first time ordering from Golden Star, and unfortunately it was disappointing. The egg rolls were tasty, but the rest of the food was not very good. The potstickers were not flavorful and were made with too much dough and not enough meat. The pancakes for the moo shu beef were very dry, like thin tortillas that had been left out for days prior, and they came in a set of 5 rather than 6. The veggie/meat mix was very light on the beef. The portion of general tsao's chicken was good, but the breading was soggy. It's possible that this was just a bad day or bad order for the kitchen, and I did notice that they were hiring more kitchen staff inside the restaurant. We'll give this place another try in a few months to see if it's any better, but we will go elsewhere next time.

Didn’t have their A-Game today. Fried rice didn’t have much taste. Almond chicken was so so. Server was very nice!

Golden Star! Well let me tell you about Golden Star. I was more than a little skeptical when my Wife decided we were going here for lunch. It's very unassuming on the outside, but once we stepped in we were greeted warmly and shown to a cute little private booth. My Wife decided on Tofu and I had Sweet and Sour chicken with chow mein. Our food came out in a hurry and everything was delicious! I'm not even a fan of chow mein and ordered it to share with my wife but it was the best I ever had! We will definitely be back!

I gave it a 5 star as there food is amazing but the reason for the review is to see if they were still open and looks to appear there open! My hubby and I attempted to eat here about a month or so ago and there doors were locked :( We so were looking forwarded to eating here.

This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at this restaurant an it was tdy 3-13-24.. won’t be going back for a while

Tonight was not a good night. Our family of four walked in ,waiting to be seated. It took a long time for someone to notice us waiting. A gentleman finally noticed us and was about to seat us while holding the menus until another employee snagged him and they dealt with a wrong order. Apparently, it took 3 employee to deal with wrong order. Finally, we got seated. Then it took forever to get tea/ water and to order. Once someone took our order our food came out in spurts. We ordered 2 Appetizers and one came out seconds before one person go their main meal. 2nd Appetizer came out with 2nd persons meal. We waited quite some time for the 3rd and 4th meal to come out. 1st and 2nd meal got cold by time 3rd and 4th meal came. Good was not good tonight. The beef was hard , the grill cheese was not even melted, sweet and sour chicken came as orange chicken, the last meal was to be served on hot plate and it was not. It was luke warm ,the pancake was cold and broke apart when folding. No one checked on us to refill water glasses. We had to flag someone down to do so. I would have loved to give a wonderful review but three times in the past few months we have tried your service and food and each time it got worse so that is why I gave tonight review. Sure hope if we ever return, we will have better food and service.

Food was okay. Just not the best. And the price was outrageous! I know prices going up everywhere but I know places with better prices and better food. I went in to get my called into go order and the lady at counter just looked at me and walked past to go in the back. There was 3 other groups of people behind me and she didnt say anything to anyone. Another lady was clearing tables and asked me if I had been helped and when I said no, she shook her head and said wow. Then went in back and got a man to come out. Was kinda weird.

This place had great service and atmosphere. The food was delicious as well. The chow mein/lo mein and sesame shrimp were delicious.

Well prepared Golden Star dinner for 2. Egg drop soup was tasty for starters. Lots of leftovers. Good value and honest prices.

Stop the drum rolls, please. Expected maybe Christmas music. Never had sizzling beef like that before but since that’s the way they make it (I’m spoiled) I won’t order it again. For us today the food was just warm or cold, was a disappointing experience.

We had a quiet lunch at Golden Star. The food was hot and delicious and the service is always great. It is one of regular go to places.

Everything was delicious! Crab fried rice, moo shu pork and stir fried veggies were all on point. New favorite Chinese restaurant! Can't wait to check out the cocktail lounge... Poked my head in and it looked like a fun crowd.

Always fun to hang out with the family here. Very casual atmosphere and some privacy in booths so you don't have to worry too much about taking the wiggly kids with you. Entrees are all family size so we can easily share a few selections for a family of 4.

This is our favorite Chinese/American food restaurant. They were closed down over COVID and we were worried they wouldn't make a comeback but they are definitely back and the food is better than ever. I apologize for dishing up some of the food before taking the pictures but we were all hungry and couldn't wait. 🙂

Customer service was good. The restaurant was cozy. I ordered general tso, sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoons, and pork fried rice. The sweet and sour chicken was very good! The crab raccoons were just ok... they were small and didn't have a lot of flavor. The general tso was disappointing.... zero flavor whatsoever... like none... just tasted like chicken in a glaze. The pork fried rice was just ok too... it hardly had anything in it other than pork and rice... and the green onions it wad topped with.

I really enjoy this place and go frequently. The food is always fresh, piping hot and tasty. Service is great, and I love the always filled tea pot

I think this is the best Chinese food in bremerton and definently the best drinks (free pour) in town. I highly recomend!

Waited over 30 minutes for take-out. The ribs were very dry with no seasoning, the general tso chicken was over breaded, and I asked for a very spicy #4 level, and it had absolutely no heat. The chicken noodles had no flavoring per my 10 year old granddaughter who cooks. The steamed vegetables were the only thing that was good. I'm not sure if I'll go back. However, that's only my experience, as this was my first time, and I'm not impressed.

Had a very tasty dinner. Service was good. Had sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli and fried rice w/pot stickers for an appetizer. All was delicious. We’ll be back!

This place has definitely had some ups and downs. My family used to eat here several years ago and it was one of our favorites. Over time the quality dropped off, and they shut down for awhile. Just went back to give them another shot, and it was well worth it. Would definitely recommend getting one of the "family" meals for your group. Great selection and your going to have plenty of leftovers for everyone.

The food is delicious and the prices are great. The staff are super nice and the service is fast. I have gotten two fortune cookies in a row with no fortune inside. That’s a bit scary but I will definitely keep trying.

Me and my wife had alot of bad Chinese food before but golden Chinese is by far the best we have had in a long time ! Plus wife doesn't eat much lo mein but she ate most it, I also asked for our food to be very spicy from 1 to 10 we had 10 and it was perfect! We will be repeat customers thank you

This place was great. I live in Olympia but work all around and ate when I came to check out the area. The service was awesome they give u hot tea and water as soon as sit down the atmosphere was so nice food was great and really fair prices will definitely be going back!

Oh my goodness… we got orange chicken, chow mein and garlic shrimp. Garlic shrimp was good, but the orange chicken and chow mein had ABSOLUTE NO FALVOR or taste. Bread was falling off chicken, sauce was like jello, chow mein tasted a bit like dog food. We returned the food and got told they wouldn’t cook for us because they “didn’t know our taste”. Definitely not going back.

The staff Is so kind and helpful. The place is clean and the prices are really low for the restaurant. I know some friends who also enjoy the night life scene here. I've had a couple really fun nights as well, but these days, I'm glad the restaurant has finally opened back up since the pandemic!

Closed ! They never changed their Google ad or their hours on their web page so we drove there & a sign out front on the building says CLOSED. Called the restaurant # its answering system says CLOSED IN TUE. no sorry or anything!

They were pretty busy, but we were served, ate and packed up to go in an hour. Tried a few different entrees. Staff were friendly. Decor is nice. Thank you, we'll be back.

Had dinner here tonight. Ordered a good variety of food. Potstickers, chow mein, wonton soup, bacon fried rice, and almond chicken. I have to say that the almond chicken needs a touch up because there's no flavor, but other than that the rest of the food was yummy. Definitely worth giving a try.

Been here a few times in the last few months... well worth the drive from Maggie Lake. Great food, awesome waitress, great drinks. It's our families go to Chinese spot! Really recommend anyone to give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

Called and placed our dinner order at 6pm. Was told that our food wouldn’t be ready for pick up at 8:30 pm. I was reluctant to wait but knew that the food was worth the wait. Showed up at 8:30 pm to pick up my take out order to find that it was still not ready to be picked up. Waited over an hour along with quite a few other upset customers that were told wrong pick up times as well. Was told that our order would be ready but didn’t leave until close to 10 pm! 4.5 hours is too long to wait for a pick up order. I don’t care how good your food is. So disappointed Golden Star! You can do better. Plenty of staff working but it appeared as if dine in customers were given priority on food being prepared. You need to come up with a better to-go order system as this is clearly not working 👎👎
