Food is great, and the draft beer selection is superb! We've tried several items from the eclectic menu, and all were delicious. One of our favorite spots in downtown Jacksonville.

A truly wonderful place with great staff and food

This is probably the fourth time we’ve been here. We really love the atmosphere of this place, but the rest of it is kind of just so so. The thing that annoyed us today is it says breakfast on their front door and it also has a breakfast menu online and when we went there, the gentleman, who was very nice, said they haven’t done breakfast since before Covid. They need to take any signs down about serving breakfast as well as having a breakfast menu on the website or at least online because that is not correct It was a nice breakfast menu too

What a cool place! Food was great and reasonably priced. Our server Katie was fantastic, and she took the time to give us the tour of the whole place including downstairs beer catacombs, Belgian beer bar and member's room. She shared some great info and stories along the way. We will definitely be back!

Used to be one of my favorite late night places … not anymore … they charge an extra fee after I believe 10:00pm and the food is not as good as it used to be it’s like they have a wide variety of foods but the quality is poor. Waited forever to be seated and it was not busy table was not clean . But on the flip side we had a great waitress. I will never ever go back here and it kind of sucks that a place that was actually good had gone to shambles

We had been here 2 times before and thought it was a great place to celebrate my husband’s college graduation. It took almost 30 minutes to place our drink order and then over 1.5 hours to get our food. There were 4 tables when we arrived and 2 when we left, which is not busy enough to justify that wait. The last item to arrive was a side salad, and it came with the bill and to-go containers. What a rotten end to a happy day.

The service is NOT good unless you enjoy being ignored, and it was very empty when we went with more than one server working. The food is awful - my bf got Mac n cheese and it was literally shredded cheese sprinkled on plain noodles, um what?? For what it is and what you get, it is overpriced. All of the food tasted microwaved and the drinks were watered down. The atmosphere was the only thing we enjoyed about this restaurant, but left thoroughly disappointed.

If you haven't been here yet, get in your car NOW and start this way!! This is BY FAR the most unique dining experience we have had to date. The food is over-the-top culinary, but also has a variety that is sure to please everyone. The 100 or so beer tap selections will also excite the most discriminating folks. Add those to the "MUST SEE" eclectic and unique decorations,and it all adds up to an impressive "dining experience"! This is ABSOLUTELY, a must visit in Jacksonville!!! Chet will greet you and answer all of your questions (and you will have a lot) and Katie will serve you the best beer selections and great mixed cocktails with a gorgeous smile and hospitality. Visited on a slow night. The environment is interesting and we were excited about the large menu, but the food and listed cocktails were very underwhelming even for bar quality.

Jim, the star barman, welcomed me for my first visit. Good food, great service & amazing selection of beers. Will return.

Really cool eclectic place lots of unique and funky decor. Food was very good, fish and chips were the best I've ever had fluffy light and chunky fish. Lots of menu to choose from. The lumpia and beignes were awesome!

Im actually really impressed by the taste & portion size. We ordered the reuben w/ chili cheese fries, shrimp dip, & kids corn dog meal. The reuben was very tasty but needed a lot more sauce because it was dry but otherwise perfect & filing. Chili cheese fries were served with ranch, which is a first for me but was soooo good. I'd definitely get those again. Shrimp dip w/Tortilla Chips was tasty but not worth $13. Corn dog meal was good, I dont think 1 corn dog & a hand full of fries is worth $9 for a kids meal. 1st impression was bad because it smelled like old dirty rags. Staff was very friendly.

Steampunk themed restaurant and bar. Unlike anything you’d see outside of Vegas or Orlando. Highly recommend the giant pretzel and the sweet potato fries. Appetizer portions are really big so be aware.

The beer selection is amazing and the atmosphere is really cool! However, the food is Ok and it was kind of dark. We will be back, but they could do so much more with this theme!

Food good (wings) not really a challenge. Small but gave me 15 instead of 10 for same price. Great service. But again, for 15 years Kickbacks has had nasty bathrooms. Low water pressure and no hand towels. Steve ain’t selling this place for 12 million if he can’t get ducking towels in the bathroom (men’s at least). Rumor has it the woman’s is worse.

So I came in during the early afternoon. I git a chicken wrap and mash potatoes. It was good. Great beer selection. And the atmosphere just wow. Beautiful interior. The walls are covered with pennies and the lighting is very dim - it has an overall steampunk feel. The menu was super diverse. I'm not sure if it's just what I ordered,(vegetarian chicken nuggets, fried corn and french fries) but the food was just average. Still, it was a cool experience. Kickbacks with a new name. Don't be fooled. Food is wrong about 90% of the time and when you ask for it to be corrected you get yelled at by a man claiming to be the owner. You couldn't pay me enough to order from this place ever again, I gave them half a dozen chances over the years and that's more than enough. Fabulous food, incredible atmosphere. Very rare find; especially for a beer lover. Ask to see the beer catacombs in the basement, the 21,000 bottles of beer. They used to have a great beer selection…now their menu is down by about 80% from what it was. Would still be ok, but 2 out of 3 beers I requested were “out”. Fantastic beer selection, lots of food options, very tasty & great service. I saw lots of negative comments about the lighting, but that’s just the ambiance. It is a really cool space with so much to look at & see. I found the service really great & the bartender knowledgeable as well.

The food was really good but the steampunk aesthetic of the place takes all the attention! My honey and I visited this place late at night for a nice dinner date. Everything was going great between us but our service was not the best. Our waitress actually told us that she won't be able to serve us effectively due to her other tables in the back. After we finished our meal and walked out to our car, we were immediately stopped by the manager and another gentleman along with the waitress who was last to come out and accuse us of not paying the bill. We felt disrespected and humiliated. We were pointed out and stopped in front of everyone outside as my honey was opening up my door for me to get in the car. We had to explain that we paid the bill in cash and gave her a $10 tip on top. No one took the time to ask the waitress where is the cash?!?! This was very embarrassing and disrespectful.

Friend and I came here on a Saturday night. We had somewhere to be so we figured getting there with an estimated two hours to spare would be good so we could relax and eat. It wasn’t busy and over half of the tables were empty and we were seated very quickly. We waited two hours for our food to arrive, by which that point we had to ask for it to come out in to go boxes because we didn’t have any time to eat at the restaurant. My husband and I visited twice this weekend. Saturday afternoon we ordered the appetizer sampler. The fried green beans are incredible. We had mozzarella sticks (which were pretty close to black), potato skins, and southwest egg rolls. The potato skins and egg rolls were okay; I feel certain they mass-produced frozen apps that are just reheated/fried. We returned Sunday morning for brunch. The menu is daunting, about five pages or so, but many items are not currently available, including most things that would be breakfast/brunch appropriate. We are months into a pandemic, so that could be forgiven. I ordered the "strawberry, banana, Nutella panini. " Clearly my expectation of a panini is different from their definition. The sandwich came on thick-cut white bread that wasn't even toasted, much less cooked on a panini press. Seeing "strawberry " I anticipated sliced strawberries; unfortunately, it was strawberry jelly, which made for a sickly sweet sandwich. One of the things Kickbacks touts about themselves is their massive beer selection; I had to go through four choices to get to one that was actually on tap. I do understand that supply chains are spotty right now, but maybe work with fewer things and perfect those? Another problem with such a big tap list is that the servers have no idea about most of the brews, so not only is it a crap shoot if the beer you want is available, but it's unlikely that your server will be able to help much. You can sample the brews,but there is a charge for each. Kickbacks isn't bad, but there are a number of other establishments in Jacksonville where we'd prefer to spend our time and money.

Absolute perfection today! The atmosphere, food and service was excellent. Our server Ashley was on point and had great recommendations about food and drinks. She was funny and made our visit enjoyable. The Thor burger and bacon jam fries out of this world good!

My husband so wanted to try out this restaurant.... after reading about its history. We chose Labor Day Monday evening - not much going on at that time. This location is not the best for the IDEA the establishment wished to promote. We would not go there at night! They lacked curb and entry appeal and first impression on arrival at the "host station" was a big ZERO! Neighborhood dive restaurant/bar with way too much money spent to make it look interesting inside. We were immediately asked if we wanted to sit at the bar - a trained host would have noted that we were dressed for a better dinner experience. After being seated at a booth that we had to insist on , we were greeted by our Server - yes, she was wearing a "Neck Gaiter" as her mask. We were so highly uncomfortable - hers was so thin and see through that we could clearly see her features - we should have left then! (MASK SHOULD MAKE THE PATRONS FEEL COMFORTABLE)! The service was mediocre - We had to whip out our phone's flashlight to locate the NAME of the ale that my husband wanted and then find the corresponding number to it - sadly, what he wanted was no longer available. Our Appetizer of Spinach and Artichoke came our barely warm (this should be served hot) and they chips were either stale or low quality: how does one mess up a simple dish as this? Beaten up pewter appetizer plates were brought to the table ONLY AFTER we asked for them - we are not barbarians... When our dinner was brought out by the kitchen attendant - she/he was wearing a lighted neon-colored mask (very cool) - until we stated that we were first time guests and was looking forward to tasting their food - then she/he whipped the mask OFF to begin talking with us - right at the edge of our table - WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING !!!!!!???? We ENDURED - my dinner of shrimp & mahi on skewers (bacon wrapped) , called Harpoons, reeked of a fishy scent and the bacon was undercooked. I tried to eat just the seafood and the pepper jelly that came with is (the only thing that was tasty). My husband's dinner of there "signature" Chimmichanga was so mediocre on taste! This Menu was created in a drunken meeting! DO NO BE FOOLED by the extensive selection - that's an alarm bell - it's all mediocre Bar style food! The "silverware" is cheap, old and looks like they were bought from a closeout restaurant source. The idea for such an establishment as this in Five Points - in our humble opinion - has fallen short of the intended mark - better option would have been Jacksonville Beach. Go for the "speak-easy" experience if you MUST - visit their Cellars/Basement, if you dare during Covid - hope their beers make up for the EPIC FAIL of the rest of the establishment. Sorry, I have little encouraging to say here. I typically look forward to writing a rave review, but I couldn't let this one go to a peaceful grave. My husband felt so badly for selecting this sad disappointment that he kept apologising :-( !!!! We now order two food dishes that were far from fresh new wait time 38 minutes. Chicken looked like the breaded frozen kind you’d get at Costco. Soggy greasy fries...just gross. Lincoln log lumpia over fried and their house Mac which was cold unlike their beer. Then it took 20 minutes to finally get a manager who finally shares with us that even though the restaurant looks empty that they were short staffed and only had one cook. Frankly I don’t give a flying snails fart what the explanation is I just want our check at this point and they could stick everything on our table where the sun don’t shine. Manager disappeared for 5 minutes returns with check for 30 bucks she waved the cost of one room temp beer that was sitting on the table untouched. The sliders had varying meat options, the waitress and kitchen hooked me up and let me split the 4 sliders into 2 with pulled pork and 2 with beef. I think I was halfway into the second slider when my waitress asked if I needed anything to go with them (ketchup, mustard, etc.) And with a mouthful of joy I responded that they were awesome just the way they came out. I had never had scotch eggs before and had been wanting to try them, if you've never tried them, I fully recommend them. These being the first I'd ever tried, but again having a somewhat high expectation of the dish - I was very pleased with my decision to try them. Nothing was "greasy", everything was balanced - both on my palate and to my taste buddies. 😋 The menu carries enough variety that everyone in your party should be able to find something suitable to their dinning desires - no matter what you're "in the mood for" (for the most part). I didn't sample any adult beverages on this trip, but the seemingly endless list of choices should fill anyone's cup of tea, or beer, or whatever.
