We have enjoyed many fine dinners at the Inn’s restaurant BLUE. We especially love the pre-dinner cocktail out on the porch overlooking the inlet with ocean waves breaking out on the point. It’s a very special place! Very special decor, delicious food, delightful owners and a fantastic experience.

Grey Havens Inn is an architectural treasure, an in-tact three story shingle-style luxury hotel built in 1904 by local-boy made good Walter Reid. It sits on a bluff situated in Georgetown and faces the ocean, islands, and inlets of Midcoast Maine with its turrets flanking each side and a massive wrap-around front porch. The Inn is magical with woodwork everywhere, high ceilings, an incredible river stone fireplace in the main sitting room, and a full dining room wrapped with windows and a bar where guests gather for morning breakfast and intimate dinners. The sounds of the ocean waves and tidal flow, the cool ocean air, and expansive post-card coastal views take you to a special place. The inn-keepers, Ali & Carlos, are very friendly, accommodating, and performing a great service to us all by preserving this gem. The morning-breakfast is first-rate with a wide-range of freshly prepared offerings. In our three-day stay, we were greeted with a delicious egg casserole, a bread pudding coffee cake, oat meal, fresh fruit, in-house yummy granola, hard-boiled eggs, an airy cinnamon-sugar donut hole, unlimited freshly brewed coffee, and much more. We stayed in one of the rooms with a turret (the Five-Islands room) on the third floor with windows facing in multiple directions and great cross-ventilation and highly recommend it. Given the price of the Grey Havens Inn relative to generic luxury hotels, this Inn is an incredible value. We would return in a heart beat.

Just minutes from Reid State Park and with an amazing oceanside porch, this Inn is a gem. We were so happy to stay for a special night at the end of season and enjoy delicious fare at Blue, the restaurant within the Inn. Our room (Five Islands) had an amazing view and was clean and well kept. I rated it 4/5 only because it was small - that wasn't a problem given the lovely common areas inside and outside of the Inn. We recommend one of the turret rooms like ours - the views of the ocean and nearby islands are amazing! The innkeepers and staff are both professional and gracious - they were wonderful hosts.

Chefs seeking to create within the context of #Maine Coastal Cuisine must respect entrenched expectations while at the same time seeking opportunities to introduce elements of surprise, and occasional open rebellion. Such is definitely the case at Blue, where the playfully inventive talent of Chef Esau Crosby brings unexpected twists to familiar Maine staples such as grilled swordfish and mignonette sauce. On a recent evening, the marinated & grilled swordfish was served with an inspired housemade ketchup based in retrieving the condiments’ pre-Heinz history, while the punchy & peppery mignonette offered fresh counterpoint, rather than drab camouflage, for a half dozen perfectly shucked and presented Robinhood Cove oysters. The music mix in the dining room offered a subtle clue to what was going on in the kitchen, offering an unusual (for Maine restaurants!) mix of jazz ballads from John Coltrane to Billie Holiday turning familiar tunes inside out, thereby making them new again. There was something both slightly sad and slyly humorous about seeing the same ole “Garden Salad" (yawn) listed as a daily "special", while from the regular seasonal menu we thoroughly enjoyed playful riffs on beet salad, here served as a colorful composition with pea shoots, cashews and shaved fennel; and in a second salad, baby greens were brought into perfect harmony with roasted local apples. The wine list was equally as playful. Yes, there were the inevitable California Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays and Cab Savs (double yawn), yet we were pleasantly surprised by the presence of an excellent Loess Grüner Veltliner and a delightful Argiolas Armentino from Sardinia. With regret, we must report the one sour note for our otherwise memorable evening at Blue, and that is the clumsy performance of the two Grey Havens (triple yawn) Innkeepers, who would be better advised to let the excellent front-of-house staff do their thing unencumbered by their bossy & boorish attempts at conducting, sort of like like beginner tuba players barging into a jam session among seasoned pros. In sum, we will happily return to Blue for as long as Chef Crosby performs at the heart of the mix. As for the Inn, well, the front porch does offer a lovely view of coves and offshore islands. For us, that will be "Inn" enough!

My granddaughter and her fiancee could not have chosen a more peaceful beautiful location to be married in Maine than the Grey Havens Inn in Georgetown, ME. The living room is beautifully decorated with comfortable seating to capture all the scenic views of sailboats and lobster traps being pulled. The wrap around porch was the best spot to sit in rocking chairs and relax after all the delicious meals that the chef prepared and served in the Blue Room Restaurant. The bartender was able to keep the line short for the variety or drinks that were ordered, I enjoyed a delicious sangria! Ali was the perfect owner/hostess always working but very relaxed readily available to answer any questions or make suggestions. The bedrooms were cozy, spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and plenty of hot water for showers. The wedding took place on the lawn of the property and Reid State Park was a short ride from the Inn and another beautiful setting for the photo shoot of the bride and groom prior to the ceremony. Thank you to Ali and her husband for providing the perfect peaceful place for their memory making wedding! Beverley C.

Gorgeous views, beautiful rooms, great food and great service! We had to check in earlier than their posted time in order to get to a wedding, and they easily accommodated us. This was when hurricane Lee was coming by, so the power was out, but they had a generator, so there was power in the common areas and hallways, and we could still have nice hot showers! Mattresses & bedding were very comfortable! Internet service is good. Ali & Carlos are friendly & courteous but not super chatty—which we loved. I have not been fortunate enough, yet, to stay at Grey Havens Inn, but still I had a wonderful experience with innkeeper Ali. A dear friend of mind visited a few weeks ago, with her husband, to celebrate her birthday. I wanted to have a flower arrangement delivered to their room, to be there when they arrived, and so I called the inn. Ali was so friendly and welcoming of the idea, and gave me some ideas for area florists, of which there are not many around there! She also said that if I ran into any problems, I should call back. I was not able to make arrangements for delivery for various reasons, so, indeed, I called Ali back. She immediately promised to handle it all herself—to purchase the flowers, arrange them in a vase, and put the arrangement in my friend’s room. We briefly discussed budget, style, size, etc. (I might add that she mentioned that there was a wedding going on at the inn that weekend, which seemed to be no deterrent at all to her assistance with my request!) Both my friend and Ali sent me a picture of the gorgeous bouquet. Truly what added to the beauty was how friendly, helpful and kind Ali was and is!

Truly amazing place to stay. The view is breathtaking, expect to want to sit on the veranda all day and well into the night with your drink of choice from the bar. But don't, because food is served inside (reservations recommended) and you shouldn't miss it. The staff is some of the most friendly people I've ever met, period. They accommodated us above and beyond with some last minute dinner plans and when us and another couple were up until 10:30 having wine on the veranda they were helpful right to the end. 15/10 will stay again. For the boaters, there are moorings right in the channel outside, and a dock with cleats for a dinghy. Not sure whose moorings so you'll need to do some research. If you're inclined to anchor, anchoring looks tenuous. Lots of lobster traps, even through the mooring field. Very sheltered though.

Attended a wedding in late July 2022, very hot weather 90+ degrees. Inn has no A/C but they adapted with fans, large windows, and a great crosswind. Dinner was excellent, however, if your party is on the large size, serving was an issue. We were unable to eat together, the chicken was served first, then the fish. But the guests having chicken were done before the fish was served. Very disappointed. Also, be aware there are three floors with no elevator, I was aware there was no elevator but with mobility issues, the stairs were very difficult for me . I still rate the INN 5 stars.

My wife and I visited for the first time and we had an enjoyable experience. You can't beat the view of one of Maine's prettiest coastal areas. I had the Maine Seafood Chowder and the Sesame-crusted Salmon. Both were good, but the chowder was seriously lacking the "seafood" part. It had 2-3 bites of fish and 1 single oyster (I think). No scallops or lobster as suggested by the photo on their website. It was also the thick version of chowder and not the thinner version as suggested by their photos. The salmon was good but not spectacular. The sides were not very exciting (lackluster mashed potatoes and very bitter broccoli-rabe). My wife had the fettuccine with roasted vegetables and she enjoyed it. It was packed with veggies. My wife also had the chocolate mousse for dessert and she said it was also very good. This is not an inexpensive place to eat. Most entrees are in the $18-$38 range and the choices are limited. Salads are ridiculously expensive ($12) so we skipped those. Service was excellent and the surroundings are beautiful. For me, I was somewhat disappointed with my experience. While the food was good, I really expected something a bit more exciting for the price. There are lots of good restaurants in this area that are less expensive and more enjoyable from a food perspective. I'm not sure we' be repeat customers. It was good but just not memorable as we expected.

Fantastic dinner! We split the day's special halibut with mussels steamed in a delicious broth, served on a bed of lentils and barley. Paired that with tornados of filet topped with superb Maine blue cheese and onion jam. Seafood chowder to start was some of...

One of the most beautiful views in ALL of Maine. This is a romantic atmosphere, although our dinner was shared between friends. The porch is the definition of paradise. We saw seals swimming, and boats passing. The patrons were warm and friendly, and the service...

My wife's soup was delicious, and so was my salad. The entrees were okay but not great. Her salmon was to come in a sauce of sweet potato and corn, which she said she'd prefer not to have, and so she got a slice of...

Who would ever expect to find a restaurant this amazing this far off the beaten path? The setting is lovely, overlooking an Atlantic inlet . . and the food is delicious. We had the special of the evening, char grilled swordfish, which was soooooo good....

You can see that this Inn was great at one time. The rooms are small and no air conditioning. Hard to enjoy yourself. Lovely view and average food. Probably the nicest option in the area.

Wonderful escape from the real world! We were in the area for a wedding and Grey Havens was a perfect home away from home. The owners are so accommodating and friendly - instantly made us feel welcome. Room was quaint and nice with large bathroom!...

Not only is the location beautiful.... the Inn is quaint, well appointed, and comfortable. The restaurant, Blue is five star...and the service is attentive and welcoming. The owners Eve and Dick have been doing this for a long time... I am sure for the pure love of it...and they should. They are masters at their art. Many thanks to them and their staff for making my birthday and Mother’s Day the best yet. We will be back . Five stars ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

We made reservations here, based on internet. As we, walked to entrance, we were “THUNDER STRUCK” by view 💥. Sooo beautiful. We were early, so sat on large porch and enjoyed a drink and view. Restaurant was lovely, with good food, that was well presented....

We started with drinks on the front porch. The rocking chair had a good smooth rock which was good for drinking a good porter. The view was of a beautifull small cove with a tree lined peninsula on the other side. Inside, is a classic large beadboard dining room with well aged wood. The dining room is well organized with small to medium sized tables and comfortable seating. The menu was small but heavy on the seafood, but the Porkbelly apatizer was excellent and the burger was really good and properly rare. Our waiter was great, he had a great sense of humor and was very knowledgeable about the menu, specials and wines. The prices are a bit high but is a great place for a special occasion or a romantic dinner.
