We loved that habaneros had a separate vegan menu to choose from the food was spiced very well, but evident usage of a lot of oil. Next time we will ask them to omit oil.

This is a counter-serve place. The staff was very nice. Food came out quickly, and was tasty. Loved the fideo and bean Welcome Soup.

Everything is delicious and fresh. Shrimp tacos highly recommended, only complaint is that the corn tortilla falls apart wish they would crisp up the corn tortilla before they put the Shrimp inside. Excellent place.

Great spot! I’ve ordered the cheese enchiladas numerous times and they’re ALWAYS great. Had the soup for the first time and it was awesome too. A nice, chill spot for lunch or dinner

I was ecstatic to find Habanero's today after 10 years of being away from Las Cruces. This restaurant was my go-to neighborhood food joint back when it was on Solano. We moved away from Cruces back in 2014 but a work trip brought me back this week. And at first I was dismayed when I drove down Solano and did not see Habanero's. But then I found their new location and was overjoyed. I received the same warm welcome I always used to, and also the welcome-soup. I was even pleasantly surprised that the owners remembered me after all these years. The food was even more delicious than I remembered. I am just so happy for this restaurant. If you are ever in town and want the best, authentic, and well crafted Mexican, come here!

You order at the counter and they bring it to you fairly quickly. Food was tasty and very reasonably priced.

This place is great huge selection. Very tasty food freshly made. The owner is delightful and super helpful and friendly. I especially love that they have many vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, which is pretty unusual for a Mexican restaurant in Las Cruces, this places is very accommodating. They do not use lard in their beans and offer lots of choices. It’s obvious that they take pride as the food is quality. We sat out on the patio. It was nicely, shaded, clean, and comfortable. Usually, we get takeout or delivery from here, but today we ate in for the first time and now I know I will be eating here more often. We loved everything. Also the welcome soup is so tasty, which is included with your meal. They had two kinds of soups Fideo with beans and also a lentil soup, vegan. The homemade salsa is delicious. We also asked for and tried their homemade habanero salsa for lots of extra heat and it was perfect. If you love Mexican food and also have any Vegetarian, vegan or gluten free friends or family, this is your absolutely best option for Mexican food in Las Cruces as they have something for everyone and the food will satisfy the carnivores and vegans. Prices are very reasonable too.

Awesome food! They have a vegan section on their menu. They also have a “Welcome Soup” that is vegan and tastes so good, lentils were on point. They also allow your dogs to chill with you on the porch while you eat, great for us because we live in a van and we’re traveling through. Only downfall I’d say is maybe wish the bean burrito plate was a dollar or two cheaper, simply because it’s just beans and rice with tortilla. But hey, it was freaking good so no real complaints! Worth trying.

Was supper excited to find they offered some vegan options. We ordered the veggie burrito that came with beans and rice and it was so good. The veggies were very tasty. Got it to go but the restaurant looked super cute. Great place to stop on our road trip.

Red sauce is very spicy. Mole is hot and sweet. Large portions as is the style.

Fresh, quality food and we loved that there were vegan options. The staff were very pleasant and assured us that the menu items were vegan and started about with a complimentary vegan soup. Cute patio area too. Some music out there I think would be a good addition.

The parking lot daid everything. It was empty on a Saturday night. Not what it used to be. The food was mediocre at best, but $50 for 2 people to eat is a lot for so-so food. Plus it's all but self serve. Used to love it there. But that was years ago.

Decent, run of the mill Mexican food. Everything is self-service once you order, so not much 'service' to speak of. Chips and salsa are ordered rather than complimentary the way they are in almost every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to but not bad for the price.

Passing through town and hoping for something edible. Food was fresh, perfectly prepared and deliciously seasoned. A real gem. Locals are lucky to have this place.

I was in town visiting and I really enjoyed my food here that I came back a second time! If I’m ever back in town THIS will be my first stop.

Closes a weird time to really enjoy

I wish they had never done away with the chimi del mar! It was my favorite. I have not been back sense. The last time I got a very bad addittude over ordering it and was told they no longer make it and would never do it again. So sad I really enjoyed it!

If you're in Las Cruces and looking for Mexican food, just come here. The food here at Habanero's was great! The guacamole had great flavor. The Macho Chimichanga is indeed macho. After the guacamole and chips, I only had room for half of the chimichanga. The chimichanga was covered in green chile sauce (you have the option for red or probably none), and it was absolutely loaded with meat. I ate here solo, but I will be bringing my family back here to try the food.

We got delivery through Doordash. Food was hot and fresh. The artichoke and spinach enchiladas were delicious with a developed sauce and deserve a special mention. The rice was top notch. Vegan and vegetarian options with plenty for the carnivores, and a more expansive menu than many in Las Cruces. This is “Old”Mexico style Mexican food - Baja California items etc.

Indoor or outdoor seating. Dogs welcome outside, be a responsible owner and keep them on a leash. Quick service and always great food. The Shrimp Diablo is hot! Everything else, from eight years of visits, is flavorful and never served cold.

This is thr BEST place for Mexican food in Las Cruces. Hands down. I've not been satisfied anywhere else. The prices did go up last year and I've not visited much since. I had the seafood enchiladas (del mar) and with tax, tip, and a beer it was $29. So, yeah, pricey :( I blame inflation, not the owners, though.

I usually eat chile rellenos off highway 28 and that doesn’t need to happen again. They are actually better tasting here. You can taste the freshness and excellent flavors. I will return because it’s worth it. Thank You Habaneros!!

I ordered tacos and there wasn't any lime, onion, and cilantro. I asked for some and I was informed they didn't have any cilantro in the building at all. Ordené tacos y no vinieron con limón, cebolla, o cilantro. Los pedí y ellos me informarán que la restaurante no tiene cilantro.

Food was excellent. The beer was way overpriced. No real service, order at the register and they'll drop off the food. Any thing else needed, go back to the register and wait in line.

Amazing food ! Real Mexican flavor

This food is crazy good! You have to come here when you are hungry. The prices are really good for how amazing the food is. I just got a burrito and it was some how crispy and covered in sauce which is rare. Put my fork into it and the fork just sliced into it with zero effort and every bit split apart easily yet it was still crispy. The staff is really nice and helpful and the place is really clean.

The owners are so lovely. The food is authentic and very tasty! The Pico de Gallo was fresh as well as the salsa and guacamole. The mole was "the best" according to my pops. Even the kids were happy. Something for everyone!

Ordered the chicken mole. Not enough food for the price. Mole rather watery and bland. Tasted like it didn't have any salt. Would not recommend.

I hadn't been here for some time. Everything has improved. The decor is bright and cheerful. A room that I liked to dine in is now closed off as a reservations only party room. But the other space is fresh and inviting although the building itself is an authentic old adobe. Ordering food is at a window in the front room. It is quick, pleasant and efficient. Your order is brought to your table. The food is interesting. The welcome soup is in the house and is a pleasant starter to the meal. I had chicken pipian verde and a beef quesadilla. I split both with the friend I dined with. The pipian sauce is made with ground pumpkin seeds and moderately spicy green chile with a nice bite. It was quite tasty spread over the Spanish rice that came with the meal. The quesadilla oozed with warm cheese and was delicious topped with guacamole and sour cream. Prices seemed slightly towards the higher side, but all area restaurants have the same issue right now. If you want Mexican food that's just a little bit different than the usual, you'll find it here.

Love this vegan friendly eatery

Delicious, healthy food and friendly owner. Always. They have a few quotes up: "health Mexican food" and "home of the welcome soup." This is my go-to got Mexican food. Honestly the only vegetarian friendly Mexican restaurant that I've found in hundreds of miles (maybe there're some in El Paso?). Of course you can get vegetarian options or make substitutions at other restaurants but this place DOES NOT put lard in their beans and you can ask for vegetarian or vegan options. As their name suggests, they do have a habañero salsa - beware.

So walking in, it's a VERY different experience in terms of ordering. Menus are on tvs and you order your food and drink at the counter, then sit down and it's brought to you. Admittedly was thrown off by the experience and thought the digital menus with the layout of the restaurant was gonna be lower quality, but we got our food very quickly and the older man behind the counter was helpful and understanding. Food was amazing, environment was also nice once we had sat down, and can't wait to come back.

Great good Everytime! Everything an the menu is great. We love this place and bring our dogs to the very nice outdoor patio. The Chile Rellano is the best in the area and frankly the best I ever had, but you can't go wrong on this menu, it's just that good!

I came here because it was recommended and had great reviews. I got the Arroz con Pollo and it was delicious. I love their complimentary soup as well. I recommend this place for its good, authentic food. The stream of people coming through told me that many feel the same way. Thanks again!

Decent food, a bit pricy but tasty and great service!

Arrived here after a full day of driving. Got my go tos - chips n guacamole, Margherita, and a chili relleno. All solid. The staff was flummoxed by an issue w the soda machine, so as a noob I stood and tried to figure at the order process, as did another couple. Finally got served, and all was right in the world. Guacamole was good if on the mellow side, chili relleno was piping hot - so many places don't finish it fully but habaneros did. Margie was a delight. (Compare this to the meh Mexican experience I had in Phoenix. So average I didn't bother to review.)

Food was delicious and reasonably priced. I ordered the shredded beef enchilada and my wife ordered the spinach & artichoke enchilada, both with red sauce. Our waiter Alfredo was very attentive, friendly and pleasant . He made our dining experience very relaxing.

We had an AMAZING dinner at Habanero's Fresh Mex! The shrimp tacos were delicious. My husband had the nachos and said they were top shelf. The chef/owner Alfredo, Alfredo's wife, and Alfredo Jr. were a joy to meet. The patio is charming, a perfect spot to spend an evening. Thank you very much for one of the finest we have had in Las Cruces! We will be back to visit soon.

Las Cruces is known for incredible New Mexican food. This is not that place. Bad food in bad environment.

First time at Habanero's. Had our nephew, his wife and our sister-in-law join us for lunch. Good parking, outdoor patio with dog area, and pretty and clean interior spaces. Great, diverse menu, with vegan options, fish, chicken, beef. My carne asada burrito was outstanding. I only gave 4 stars as I asked for red sauce and received green. BUT, the green was awesome. Perfectly seasoned meat, refried beans, rice. My wife said the same thing about her order (green chile cheese enchiladas). My nephew cleaned his plate (shredded beef burrito), his wife had a seafood (Arroz con Cameron) and my sister in law had the grilled soft tacos. We also ordered chips, salsa, chile con queso, and guacamole.

Some of the best, most consistent (New) Mexican food in town. I friggin' love this place and have been coming here since it was a tiny shop up on Solano. The quality has never faltered and the owner is such a genuinely nice guy - I'm always excited to go to Habañeros whenever I'm in town. It's my first stop if I can help it! Their mole is incredible and their rellenos are some of my favorite. The green sauce... 😍 👌

We ate here recently. One orders at the counter and then they bring your food to you. We chose to dine out on the patio. I had the carnitas plate and it was more food than I could eat at once. The carnitas were tender and flavorful. The salsa was also very flavorful. The staff was very friendly. Highly recommend.

All I have to say is WoW! They have the best chile rellenos. Excellent customer service! Let me just say that when it comes to mexican food it is hard to be pleased and I was pleased with the yummy food.

Part of my day trip from Alamogordo was to come here, and I was not disappointed. This place is absolutely delicious and a gem in Las Cruces. I had the Mole Enchiladas and the Welcome Soup. The flavors had so much depth to them, just the right amount of spice. The soup was made with fidelli noodles and beans and was a nice start to the meal. I will definitely return here again in the future. Also wonderful service.

My lucky day to discover this eatery with small vegan menu. Enough to get by on until and quality food. Got a bean burrito. Huge serving for such low cost. Not complaining. Tasted well made and fresh. Took 3 days to finish eating. This may be exception as first time visitor. Front staff welcoming with smiles here. Quiet side of town. Lot parking available.

Amazing authentic Mexican food!

Did not find flavor in the meat. The salsa tasted like out of a can. The welcome soup had a nasty tate like beans and noodles with no spices. Mexican food should be exploding in your mouth with flavor. The food had none. I was hungry so I ate it but will not be coming back. For the price I paid I could make them a plate and would of charged them nothing. Just so they could taste real Mexican flavors.

On a winters day in Las Cruces, to sit outside on their patio in the warm sun, enjoying what are probably the best Carnitas on the city. It’s perfect. The only thing odd about this place is paying for your meal and for the tip before you get served. That’s a bit unusual, but the food is great, and the pork in the Carnitas is perfectly broiled. You need to eat here.

Extremely flavorful and tasty Mexican food! It felt like eating a home cooked meal. Multiple vegan options too. We got the veggie burrito and veggie enchiladas. Both were excellent and were filling. Came with a side of rice and beans. Ask for the spicy sauce to add even more spice and flavor to the dish. Tamarind Jarritos was available here and rounded out an excellent meal. Highly recommended!

Best fish tacos in town. Our book group met there and we were shown to a quiet place in the restaurant. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Loved the complimentary cup of soup, as well.

Relative had baby shower there. Seems they changed it from a restaurant to an event rental location.

Rolled tacos super bland. No flavor at all. Guacamole also bland. Carne Asada burrito “mini” the meat was not good did not taste fresh also they added the salsa to the burrito and it was to spicy. Waited in line forever not worth the wait.

My husband and I were just passing thru LC and had a craving for Mexican food. Habaneros was excellent. The hospitality was over the top special. The taco plate was delicious and so was the cheese enchiladas. Don’t forget to try the free soup. Stop by….it will make your day.

The food and the service here is absolutely fantastic! This is definitely my new favorite place to go for Mexican food when I am in Las Cruces! I highly recommend it. And dogs are welcome on the patio!

I ordered the Gande quesadia, grilled chicken. The food reached the table barely warm. While the food had what certainly seemed to be quality ingredients, as stated it was barely warm, and frankly too bland. This is the Mesilla Valley, one expects chile verde, or some chile based salsa. It did not have the flavor of chile, and no salsa was served. Chile Verde, Chile Rojo, or Christmas is a must. It is thus unlikely I will return while it is not bad, I prefer food served hot (caliente), and better seasoned and tasty (sabrosa).
