Lives up to the hype. Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. The herbed garlic oil as the pizza base was so tasty. Om nom nom

We got the Caesar salad, wings, a build your own Hawaiian pizza, and a brownie and everything was delicious! Usually I’m full after 1-2 slices but somehow I ate 4 slices plus the salad and some wings! Glad we came in :)

Fantastic pizza for reasonable prices. Order early as they are very busy, and it took about an hour for a pickup order. It was well worth the wait!

Pizza was so good! Our favorite dinner of the trip. We ordered takeout so make sure to call ahead. the service was great. It was crowded but the staff took the time to be friendly and kind. Great spot we will be back to again next time we’re in town.

Probably some of the best pizza I have ever had! The people at the counter were so friendly and kept the line moving quickly. We ordered a salad and a pizza, the salad came out quickly but the pizza took a very long time, about 45 minutes, but it seemed like a busy night. It was well worth the wait; as others have said, the crust is especially delicious. We also loved the brownie! I would definitely check this place out if you are in Leadville.

Best pizza place ever! Their veggie Pizza was delish, not a fan of kale but I was pleasantly surprised how the crispy pieces tasted so good. Small indoor seating however they have lots of backyard seating which is cute and sometimes also have live music.

So tasty and lovely place. We were lucky that it wasn't crowded, and got our pizza very fast

The food was wondrously delicious and their homemade cookies were amazing. Everything was perfect. Also they have a beautiful quiet outside flower garden to eat in.

This place never disappoints! Laid-back, helpful staff, a wonderful dog-friendly patio, and incredible pizza. The San Luis is my go-to. Not super busy on a recent Friday evening around 8pm, was easy to find a table and pizza came out in 15 min or so.

Crazy friendly staff. Super helpful in working with our big group. The patio is huge. Honestly, The food is all super affordable and tastes amazing. Crunch crust, generous toppings. Can’t wait to come back.

So worth the wait I went a few weeks ago during the boom days and I got a medium cheese pizza which was fantastic, I definitely should have bought two because it was amazing. The staff was super nice each time and offered water to me when I mentioned how I wasn't feeling well due to the high altitude. I will definitely be back for another one.

I walked in at 10 minutes till closing and they were so friendly and accommodating. The pizza is DIVINE.

Got here late at night after a long drive, service was really great the guy outside made conversations with us and made us feel like at home.Got there not feeling the best and left with a smile, food was amazing!

Coolest place. Great pizza and awesome service. We sat in the back yard where there’s live music. In town to hike the mountain and was getting a lot of tips and tricks as a bonus from the staff!

Indoor and (dog friendly) outdoor seating available, decent food, friendly service. They have decent calzones, except that the four inches around the outer edge is all dough - no cheese. Also, I was confused about receiving the calzone with sauce inside.

Tasty pizza and nice atmosphere with some good pie selections. Staff was courteous and friendly. Not a negative but only a few tables inside. had plenty of tables outside and most were covered.

Amazing Pizza. Try the San Luis! The wings are outstanding as well, we had them without sauce and they are still 10/10 wings! The Beet Salad is also a great option.

Called in to place an order for pickup at 6:30PM and was told it would be ready at 9:30PM. Needless to say we went to a competitor. World record slowest pizza place in the world!

Busy little place on bike weekend. Actually not so little. They have tables inside, outside, and on the back lawn. Band was playing when we got there. Really nice atmosphere. Employees were super nice and helpful. There is an additional bar in the back lawn area, good to know!!

Have to commend the awesome, hard-working staff at this restaurant. While driving from the Denver metro area, my husband and I were talking about how at most mountain-town restaurants the customer service is severely lacking, the hours are terrible, prices are high, the food might be ok, might not be—but the views are great. And we as visitors just have to take what we can get since options are limited. BUT we’ve been to HMP before, love the pizza, and love that the patio is pet-friendly. They really stand out as better than other mountain-town restaurants that are barely trying. ALSO, their staff was working so hard to get food out, provide refills, and help people find table space. They were going above and beyond!

The BEST pizza place in the world! We go every summer and it's a two hour drive from our cabin. So many good things - we always get The Crocodile.

Great stop in Leadville! Beet salad, half San Luis and Crocodile pizza, create your own. Brownie was awesome, too. About an hour wait from when we ordered. Pup friendly in the back patio area. Lots of furry friends. Cheese/peppers/ utensils/ plates regardless of whether dining in or taking to go. Decent drink selection, too! Not budget friendly, but the quality if superb. Staff was awesome. Laid back. Clean. Restrooms.

This is an order at the counter and take a number kind of place. The pizzas were excellent with unique combinations for their specialty pies, and high quality toppings. The wings were a huge hit among our party. There seemed to be an ample number of tables in their side and back yard. The ordering process seemed to be unnecessarily confusing with lines and redirection from the staff.

I usually like High Mountain pies, however, we ate there yesterday and the pizza was terrible. Ordered extra cheese and there was no cheese, subbed cheese on the salad, but they didn’t remember, took over 2 1/2 hours to get our pizza. If they’re busy, they need to stop seating people. It was truly subpar. I feel like I need to stand over them when they make the pizza because I don’t think many of the employees care or know what they’re doing.

Great little spot to stop for lunch in Leadville! Sandwich and wings were delicious. And the back sitting area was nice and cozy with beautiful flowers.

This was a wonderful stop for dinner after the Leadville Train Ride! The staff were attentive and the pizza crust was wonderful! We thoroughly enjoyed our carnivore and margarita pizzas! We will be back when coming through Leadville!

Not that they needs it since there are already many greats reviews 🤣 this place is a great stop if you’re driving from RMNP to aspen. We orders two salads and three pizzas based on their recommendations. All were amazing (crocodile, deluxe and San Luis) very interesting flavors and ingredients combinations I’ve never tried before. I would skip the garlic bread tho

The pizza was of exceptional quality. We were particularly impressed by the freshness of the toppings and the deliciousness of the sauce. The crust was cooked to perfection, with a satisfying crispness and no flop. We will definitely be returning for more.

We ordered our pizza and sat at the only available table. There were drinks and food that weren't bussed on the table for over 30 minutes so we ultimately bussed the table ourselves. The pizza took 50 minutes to come out and was just not good. The crust was so dense it was inedible, seriously rock hard. I think they use cornmeal in the crust and they should rethink that recipe because it's just bad. Before we left, someone else brought in dishes from their table and the employee yelled at him for doing so. He asked if they had bussers to which she replied, "yes", but didn't ask which table or offer to bus his. They obviously don't have bussers if multiple customers are bussing their own tables. Literally any frozen pizza at the store is better than the pizza we had.

Wonderful pizza experience on a sunny afternoon. Enjoy counter service with friendly delivery to multiple outdoor tables behind the restaurant. About half the tables are covered. Additionally, a few small tables are available inside. Don’t let a line scare you off. The cashier is quick and you will have drinks and water in a very short time. The restaurant will make a delicious thin crust pizza any way you want it!!

Best pizza place I have been to in my life. The owner is always walking around talking to customers to make sure there’s nothing else they need. The pizza is scrumptious and the outdoor seating makes you feel like you’re at a family cookout. Everything about this place is amazing.

Garlic bread-A+ French bread loaf with butter and garlic spread inside and mozzarella melted on top. Huge loaf that could easily feed a few people. Pizza-A+ Hand tossed pizza with mozzarella, pepperoni, Italian sausage, and jalapenos. Came out piping hot and tasty. Hot wings-A+ Buffalo style bone in wings cooked to perfection. Soda comes in a can with a glass. If you decide to sit on the patio out back, wait for the busboy to clean off the table before sitting at the table if it is dirty

What a gem! Pizza was absolutely delicious. We did have to wait a bit to get our food because it was pretty busy, but totally worth the wait. SO GOOD! They even had gluten free crust (the thin one - probably the best GF I’ve had - I wish they’d tell me where they get it haha) and GF subs as well. I’ll be back for sure!

Great vegan pizza! After we found out golden burro was no longer vegan we decided to go here and it did not disappoint! Staff was very friendly too. It is on the smaller side but has a patio.

REALLY, REALLY good chicken wings delivered to the Scarlet. BIG well cooked wings in nice sauces. Not rubbery frozen things so many places serve. Thank you and good job!

Oh yes! This is the place. Great people. Great pizza. Lots of goodies on every one of the choices. Crust is just the right thickness. Sauce is delicious. The flowers outside are a plus. Not to forget the great view of the mountains.

I NEVER give a 5 star review I unless I feel it's well deserved. I always feel that there is always room for growth but these guys knocked it out of the park! I have had really amazing pizza in St. Louis, a few places in Wisconsin and one in Utah. This is forever going to be my all time favorite though!

We ordered the square pie with vegan cheese and it was delicious! Loved the outdoor seating area which has a little garden (in the summer) and the staff were super kind! Highly recommend this spot after a day playing in the mountains. Tip them well bc they work hard nonstop during tourist season :)

Pizza was wonderful best we've had in a long time! On trip from Missouri and decided to try it. If you're ever in the area it's worth stopping there to eat. Very small dining area with few small tables and counter. Noticed many took it to go. We were there in afternoon not typical lunch or suppertime and still very busy! Atmosphere is eclectic. Place was clean. Service kind and helpful. Thanks so much!

This is my favorite pizza place in Leadville! The fact that they are the only spot that serves food until 10 PM is a major bonus. I've seen folks come in at 9:50 and they never turn people away. The staff is super friendly; I love the beet salad and the Monte Vista Club!

Ordered a Greek salad for takeout on what seemed to be one of their busiest days of the year. The service, timing, and food was on point!

The food is delicious and would definitely order again as take out, but damn, the service ... Lack of communication, super slow. Forgot to ring something we asked for in... Definitely have a bit to work out on this front.

We went here for the first time shortly after they opened with a party of 8 (2 families). Ordered our food and everyone got their order in a timely manner except my husband and I. We waited and waited for our pizza with the order number still on our table. Everyone was done eating and we still had not received our pizza. I asked the employee if ours had been forgotten and she said it had and that it will be out in 10 min. We waited another 15 min so now a total of an hour and a half since we ordered our food. My husband had to go ask for our money back on the pizza. It’s sad that on top of wasting our time that the customer service was terrible. Barely a sorry and acted as if they could care less. The excuse that they had large orders that came in when we were one of the first orders since they opened. I guess in their mind the larger orders are more important than ours. Will never go back.

Some friends and my family decided to eat here. We were the first people through the door when they opened at 11:00-11:15am. Our friends waited over an hour and a half after asking several times for their food which they never received. Eventually, they ended up just asking for their money back. When I asked the manager if they had even made their food, they made excuses, and they said ‘well we had other orders’. Not one employee apologized or even took ownership of the mistake, all that was offered were excuses. I own two different small businesses and I have never treated a customer this way nor have I ever seen a restaurant treat their customers like this. While the food tasted good, we will not be back due to how our friends were treated and dismissed. The management should be ashamed of themselves and the way they treated their customers today!

Two years ago High Mountain Pies was recommended to us by fellow campers at the campground where we were staying. Unfortunately, we missed eating there at that time as the day we went was the day they are usually closed. We were really excited to try this place out this year when we visited Leadville again. While the food was good, I can only give one star due to the poor customer service. We were with friends and they never received their pizza. We asked for the status several times and were told just 10 more minutes. Needless to say the final time we asked it was to get their money back. Not one employee took ownership for the mistake or offered an apology. Instead, they gave an excuse of having received large orders. A food industry business should know how to manage their orders, but more importantly take ownership of mistakes. We will not be back.

I stumbled upon this place as a weary traveler. Cautious upon my entrance I was greeted by some friendly folk. Once gandering over the vast menu I landed on the Margarita pizza; however, something just didn’t feel right about that. Seconds later, out of nowhere, the carnivore pizza revealed its self to me in its purest form. I rushed to the counter, filled with joy, hunger and an array of nerves hoping my selection would fulfill what I've always sought in life, pure bliss. It happened in the blink of an eye, and just like that I had a number and a table to sit at. The views from the outdoor zen garden (because that’s really what it feels like), were something of a cinema. Well, I believe this is where we part. Like a cowboy riding off into the sun, my time is almost up as the server is approaching with my food. Will update. Update after 10 minutes. Pizza was great.

I want to love High Mountain Pies but they just can't get it right. In the past we have had bad service in the form of both attitudes and slackness. The pizza is good. The staff are very nice generally speaking, but unfortunately little details and the occasional attitude really ruin this place for us. Maybe you will have better luck.

Favorite pizza restaurant and great stop before enjoying the outdoor activities in & around Leadville. Sat outside around back which is a lovely family friendly area. Grassy spot for kids to run around, dog friendly too w plenty of water bowls. Had the carnivore pizza and my favorite grape / spinach / goat cheese combo which sounds bizarre but is delicious. Super friendly staff, good beer & root beer selections. Highly recommend stopping here for a great meal!

You can't get better pizza anywhere!!! The staff is the best! The 1st time we ate there we had the San Louis pulled pork pizza and the 2nd time we had the Crocodile. I don't know if it's the elevation but I haven't had better pizza anywhere. I love this place!!!

Great food and loved sitting outside!

Literally everything about this place I love! It was AMAZING pizza, great salad, great atmosphere, and the customer service was top notch. All the people who work here are so nice, and kept asking how we were and how our food was. It felt very personal, and had a homey feel. MAKE THE TRIP TO THIS PLACE! It is worth the trip. Will be returning. Going to be dreaming of this pizza. We got the margarita pizza with chicken/meatballs added to it, and also got the spinach salad.

Up in the Leadville mountains, High Mountain Pies is serving up pizza as good as any found in Italy, Chicago or New York. The thin crust is perfectly baked (no small feat at high altitude) and well complimented by the flavorful original sauce and the abundant fresh ingredients you can add to your pizza. We had the beet salad with an amazing raspberry vinaigrette that was a joy to eat. Topping off the entire High Mountain Pies experience was the picturesque beer garden and the super friendly and attentive staff. A visit to Leadville without a stop at High Mountain Pies would be a missed opportunity.

Been coming back to this gem every time I’m in the area since about 2016. Still one of the best, IMO. Love their pizzas and their back patio… especially after an afternoon rain. Can’t beat the vibe here and it’s always been clear the staff are “bought in” when it comes to maintaining quality year after year. This place just IS Leadville for me.

Delicious pizza with fresh toppings. Crush was a bit thicker than average and nice and chewy. Also they had fresh cookies and brownies which were a real treat. Highly recommend.

This is easily the best pizza I have ever had. I don't know what they do to their dough at this altitude to get this light fluffy pizza crust, but whatever it is, keep it up! On top of that, the fluffy, light garlic bread! The service is great! Friendly staff and a great patio with great views! Definitely give these guys a try. You're not going to regret it!
