Great sushi spot. I have always had a good time with my wife and kids.

Overall the sushi seems to be decent quality, however for the price I would hope that some options such as wild salmon might be available. The sampler plates are worth trying but I was hoping for 2 pieces of some of the nigiri or possibly smaller portions but a wider variety.

After a day of touring the Grand Canyon, this hit the spot. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and left us full. Loved the Sendona roll. Service was awesome!!

The sushi was so fresh and delicious. And our server Steven was the best!! He took very good care of us, and we truly enjoyed dining there.

I've been in North America for 6 years and this was the best Authentic Sushi I've had in years. The quality of customer service is also excellent. I feel like the price is high, but I'm satisfied.

The pictures of the restaurant are misleading. Starting at the entrance the place looked dirty including the kitchen, the sushi bar through the restroom in the back. The waiter looked unkempt. The food tasted reheated and insipid. A total waste of money. I don’t understand the rave reviews.

I’m used to good Asian food and this is not even close. I could get better rolls at my local grocery store. I guess being in the middle of the desert is challenging but this was disappointing. Rolls were expensive for what you get. The salmon looked farmed not fresh. Takoyaki balls were uncooked balls of dough. I didn’t see any octopus. Service was over eager. Sorry.

Food was good, just got a couple rolls. The firecracker was bomb! Honestly though prices were a little high. 18$ for a roll , it’s Sedona so you expect to pay a bit more. Not because of the majestic properties around the area but because of the high standards and luxurious qualities and service The area provides. which I did not see much of in the presentation of the sushi rolls go to Flagstaff and for a fraction of the price you’re going to get a huge option list that once you see, it is very pleasing to the eye as well as the stomach, so come on I’ve been coming to you for years you need to step up your game if you’re gonna step up your price.

Normally, my son rarely finishes his miso soup. In this case, he finished every drop and commented several times how amazing it was. The Diamond Roll was excellent. We had exceptionally good service. We finished off dinner with a creme brulee and green tea ice cream. I highly recommend.

It’s my second time here. Both times we had very good service and the food was awesome. They had some Amber Jack which was awesome. The only thing they didn’t have was fresh wasabi which was a bummer. 5 stars!

Perfect dinner--Casual setting with unique and delicious sushi rolls and then the Nabeyaki Udon was absolutely amazing! Best we have ever had!

Went in tonight and was a bit disappointed with our experience. There was a misunderstanding with what was in my dish as I thought it was chicken with bbq sauce, when I got my dish and tried it, I quickly realized it wasn’t chicken and I asked the waitress and she said it was eel, and I told her I didn’t like it so I told her to take it back, mind you I barely ate anything and didn’t even eat any of the rice that it came with. She seemed confused but she took it and informed me that even though I didn’t eat my meal that I would still be charged for it, and that is what was the disappointment of our trip this time, we are locals and support this restaurant on countless occasions and even recommended it to people as one of the best spots in town, so it was disappointing to get told that I was going to get charged for a dish that I barely touched and that I wouldn’t get it taken off the bill, I would have even been fine if she said that she could only comp it 50% but to pay full price for a meal I barely touched, gave me a feeling that they care a bit more about the money than the customer or the experience of the customer. The service and the food was good but other then that I had a disappointing experience. I don’t think it’s fair that I had to pay full price for a meal that I barely touched. **i feel like people should beware that if you don’t like it or eat it you’ll be charged full price no matter what.**

Best Sushi option in Sedona and comparable to any of the big City sushi places.

Love this place! Staff is friendly too. Locals are happy that tourists don’t seem know about our hidden gem! We go at least once a week!!

Authentic, Reminded me of the sushi in Tokyo. Favorites were the steelhead salmon sashimi special, the ocean king and river king rolls. Great family run vibe. Will be back!

Great sushi place! It's a small place, but they do have a sushi bar and tables both inside and on the patio. I'm a big fan of unagi and they do a unagi bowl which is one of my favorite dishes there. They have a double-sided page of specials as well as a large selection of items other than sushi, like chicken, noodle dishes, salads and soups. I'm a local and eat there pretty regularly. My only gripe is that they have very limited lunch hours since Covid.

About a month ago my partner and I were in town and wanted to try the Sedona location of my favorite sushi restaurant. (if you’re ever in Flagstaff I do 100% recommend going there as well) The food was absolutely wonderful and the service was friendly. I recommend trying the scallop, salmon, yellowtail, and unagi nigiri as well as the diamond roll. The lemon pairs really nicely with the salmon, the proportions of the sushi were spot-on, the cuts of fish were skillful, and I think they vinegar their rice nicely. After we paid and left, we couldn’t start our car (ended up being a split serpentine belt+ a drained battery) and that was really awkward because we wanted to go but could not. Everyone working here was so kind that they let me use the restroom even after closing before they left because we couldn’t leave until a tow truck came the next morning. My point in bringing this up is that while that part of the evening was terrible, Hiro’s Sushi was the highlight of our evening through not just how good the food was, but how kind and patient they were with us. We intend to give them a visit again someday-- with our car in a more reliable state, of course. :^)

Sushi are delicious, but pricey

Food was good but they to add extra charges for items that should have included with entry- soup ( stated on menu), charged for refilling hot tea. Advice reviewing bill at the end of meal for extra up-charges!

Miso soup was outstanding! Sushi was good, but would have enjoyed more flavor to the rolls. Sashimi and Nigiri was great. Service was wonderful!

This is a gem! Food was outstanding. The establishment was little busy, and rightly so. We had miso soup ( my partner is Japanese and he approves) Same with the Shrimp and Chicken yakisoba. Teriyaki on point! Ocean Sushi roll yummy.

I have to say this place is top of the notch. Had the Miso soup 🍲 😋 was the best I have had in a very LOOOONG TIME, THE SHRIMP 🍤 TEMPORA, WOW 😋 THERE IS NO DOWN SIDE OF THIS IN MY BOOK. THE DIPPING SAUSE WAS ALSO THE BEST I A VERY LONG TIME. THE staff were fantastic, very attentive. The whole experience was most enjoy able. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is a small place with big tasting food. Recommend reservations. The sushi is the best we have had. Potstickers cooked just right. Nice outdoor seating as well. The staff is extremely efficient and pleasant.

First we were sent out by the lady at the door claiming there was no siting, then another lady offered a small table with two extra chairs or to seat outside in a 110 degrees sensation. Raw fish would cook outside. Big NO and never returning.

Great food! We tried several rolls but our absolute favorites were the Diamond and December rolls. I think we'll be dreaming of those until we get back to Sedona one day!

We were very excited to get Sushi and ordered a bunch of it. Generally, we would always eat it all. However, the Sushi was not very fresh and the amount of meat in the rolls was very sparse. They filled it with a big stalk of Asparagus and Cucumbers to make it seem like they were big rolls.

Best sushi ever! We were here a few years ago and ate there twice. Excellent service.

we were craving sushi, and I particularly was craving something soupy, so we're very glad to have found this place near our AirBnB. it closes at 8PM! a bit too early for us, as we like to eat/drink, and take our time. so we had to do takeout and eat back at our place. the price is definitely on the expensive side, but considering it's Sedona, we didn't have a lot of options. we got the sashimi platter (good), a Sedona roll (was ok. was basically a spicy tuna), and a nabe udon (way too salty). i had to add hot water at home to dilute the soup. when we were picking up, the customers at the sushi counter looked like they ordered oysters! would definitely give it another try next time we're in town, and try out other things on the menu too. also very glad to see Asian restaurants thriving in Sedona, and happy to support!

Great service and great food! They staff was outstanding. We had everything from Miso soup, Spicy Edamame, noodles and rolls. Everything was delicious!

3.5 / 5.0 - Who would’ve thought there would be an authentic Japanese restaurant in Sedona. Even in NYC, there are many Japanese restaurants, but truly authentic ones are not as easy to come by. So I was very excited to discover Hiro’s Sushi during our stay in Sedona. When we arrived, the place was packed, but we were able to sit at the counter. The decor was simple and it had a casual, home-like vibe. The service was good, although the sushi chef was extremely unpleasant. The servers were mostly Japanese including the sushi chef, and they were speaking in Japanese to each other. Sitting at the counter, the sushi chef was right in front of us yelling at one of the servers for moving the order sheets and showing his displeasure all night, throwing sushi roughly into the sushi case. We all have off-days, but I would expect a sushi chef at the sushi counter to be a little more professional. For food, we ordered: - Assorted Nigiri Sushi ($30+) - Yellowtail Roll ($7.70+) - Shrimp Tempura ($13+) - Mini House Salad ($3.50+) The miso soup and shrimp tempura were delicious. The sushi was good, but it was so poorly made and presented. The nigiri fell apart and you can see in the photo that the rice was sticking out of the rolls—I’ve never been served such poorly made sushi. Besides the sushi chef, everything else was great. I hope it was an off-day, because I would like to come again during my next visit to Sedona.

The California roll was delish. The chicken teriyaki bowl was kind of bland.

While the service was excellent and attentive, the food was disappointing and did not match the observed high ratings received. The tempura was greasy, the sashimi pieces were inconsistent, the edamame was lukewarm, and the prices were premium.

Fast service and good sushi. We did not have dinner reservations, but on a weeknight there was plenty of space at the bar and a few free tables. I found the menu kind of confusing--at first, it seemed like only (expensive) specialty rolls were on the menu, but then we found the more basic rolls on the order sheet.

Very nice authentic Japanese restaurant in the heart of west Sedona. I always judge Japanese food by their miso soup and Hiro’s is excellent. Friendly casual atmosphere with ooshi (delicious) food.

Food was good. We walked in without reservation. Thus we had to sit in outside patio on Thanksgiving day, it was very cold even with their heaters on.

An exorbitant amount to pay for very mediocre sushi. Our ‘Sedona roll’ the namesake of the town itself was not fully thawed and had a freezer-burned quality to it. Overall not the worst sushi but I have had better from those pre-prepared sushi packs you get at the grocery store, on its best day our meal was worth 1/3 of the price.

Just go to the Flagstaff branch (It is beyond amazing flavor, quality attention to detail very much worth it) But this Sedona branch is tasteless, low quality, really old/aged out food dry chewy etc, higher priced, wrong order for one item, forgtten item etc. They were not busy and I was very kind and understanding. All things considered, I will not be going back.

Great Japanese for Sedona where there is no other competition. I enjoyed the teriyaki chicken. I liked the dark meat which was cooked well and sauced well too. Salad.was very fresh also. I really loved that miso soup. Shrimp amd vegetable tempura was awesome.. spider roll was.a bit.mushy and not crispy. Overall great job!!

Delish I recommend trying this place out if your in the mood for Sushi while In Sedona. Ordered 2 Rolls and we wanted one deep fried and they were very accommodating.

Travelled all over the country having sushi and I have wrote many a good reviews on these places other places that were just average I didn't bother to write a review didn't want to hurt them. This sushi place was bad the sushi was old crumbled apart. I suggest you skip this place.

Worst sushi I ever had! I eat sushi on a weekly basis. This sushi was old, very skimpy and unappealing. The fish was fishy and although it was supposed to have tempura shrimp it lacked shrimp except 2 tails. My husband was sick later in the night.

After looking at the pictures and some of the reviews we were excited to go to this place. Completely disappointed the sushi came out old crumbling apart and nothing like the description of the picture. I would not recommend this place and I have written numerous reviews on restaurants that I have liked very rarely a bad review but this one is definitely a no-go.

We had an outstanding dinner tonight. The sushi is so fresh and very high quality. The rice is seasoned perfectly. Our service was fast, personable and we were even asked if we wanted thinner sushi slices for our toddler. Highly highly recommend. We can’t wait to go back.

I am absolutely so disappointed! I have been eating sushi my whole life. I have gone to Hiros in Flagstaff so many times. This Sedona branch of Hiros was one of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had. The only good thing about our dinner was our server. The sashimi we ordered was SOOOOO small! Literally less than half of the sizes of sashimi Ive EVER gotten. The Flagstaff Hiros charges less than Sedona for twice as much food. Plus our rolls were so small, it barely had any filling. I get over twice as much per piece in Flagstaff. I dont know if it was small, awkward belly pieces they needed to get rid of. I will never be back.

There is more parking in the rear! Quick service. Clean facilities. Good food. Clean sushi! Everything you want in a sushi place! Staff were very nice. We only needed a quick bite and took advantage of the lunch special. There is minimal parking in the front so just go straight to the back parking lot.

I didn't expect great sushi in a desert, and I didn't find it. This was fine, especially as by this point in our stay we were tiring of Mexican cuisine and red meat, but it certainly wasn't memorable.

they still have great sushi though the cuts are getting a little thinner. guess the costs are going up for them. service is perfect and the atmosphere is comfortable. the menu is extensive. they charged me for 8 sushi servings and i only ordered and ate 7 portions so be careful if they like to over charge.

If you are a sushi lover, this restaurant is a must! The staff is very attentive and their sushi rolls are extremely fresh.

The best sushi in town and always fresh. Service is generally very good. The only real complaint is the inconsistency of the squid appetizer. Sometimes very small and sometimes a different variety that tastes like chicken and then other times larger with a lighter batter that tastes outstanding. Strongly recommended overall.

The sushi and service were good, but nothing absolutely amazing. But fresh fish in non coastal areas is a challenge.

I live next to the coast in Santa Barbara and the sushi isn’t half as good for the price. Hiro’s is an underrated gem. The Oh Toro was sublime. It was buttery and melted in my mouth. I also tried their yellowtail, salmon and tuna. They are all amazing. My must trys are: Oh Toro, Salmon, and try to get a roll topped with Tuna. Their rolls are so tasty!

Fresh excellent sushi and sashimi. Benton box was good value for money and the eel was superb though a small portion. Service was great.

sushi quality ordinary, freshness Not as fresh as I would like for it to be, selection very few, Now this is my 1st try in Sedona at a sushi place, I've seen other more popular locations, but this restaurant is family owned, and run by Japanese owner, so I thought would be more authentic. I ordered the red rock roll which is mostly tuna + shrimp tempura,The tuna was not very fresh, and the shrimp tempura was stale. I'm assuming it's all been premade and have been sitting around for a while. Granted this is Sedona all the way inland, I'm from the San Francisco Bay area so I am used to having fresh sushi, and san francisco has some of the best sushi around so maybe comparing to Sedona isn't exactly fair. However I was shocked to find out that San Francisco sushi could actually be cheaper, and better, and fresher, with more variety. But in Sedona this is what you've got. I may have to try a few other restaurants next time to see how they stack up. 3 star is all that I can give it price adjusted.

Cool spot, very good food and service

We had 2 rolls and a soft shell crab appetizer. AMAZING!!!!!! Owners made us feel like friends and that they TRULY WANTED us to be there. GO AGAIN AND AGAIN

Unbelievably great sushi! We had a really great experience all around. Interesting rolls, perfect nigiri and attentive service to boot! I highly recommend this restaurant!
