This place is amazing, great food and great service! Love that they are a nonprofit organization. The salads, sandwiches, and chocolate bourbon pecan pie were delicious! Our server, Cierra, and the rest of the staff were amazing! Definitely would come again for the food and to show support for their organization!

Their turkey sandwich with peach chutney was absolutely amazing. Service was spot on and great atmosphere.

Sandwich was so good!!and we got 2 six packs of cookies to go because they are so yummy! Service was spectacular !

Food was great and the staff was very friendly. They have self serve drinks, but one of the staff members saw my crutches from across the restaurant and came over and asked if he could get my drink for me. The food was well presented and fresh.

The food was excellent. The service was perfect. All of this and they are helping people too. We must all support this wonderful place.

Love this place so much I volunteer here! Come by and visit! The food is great! I've tried much of the menu and haven't found anything lacking. The potato salad is great as well as the tomato soup! The chocolate bourbon pecan pie is amazing! And you definitely need to take home a variety bag of cookies!

Our lunch at Hugs was delightful, thanks to the warm greeting from the friendly staff. They explained their mission and how they aim to make a positive impact in our community. The sandwich and salad were scrumptious, and the price of $13 was fair. Have you tried Hugs? If not, please support this local non-profit.

Went in today after years of wanting to try Hugs and was not disappointed. The food was really good. But the staff was the key everyone was so sweet and checked on us from the time we walked in to the time we walked out! Keep up the great customer service y’all are awesome!

This is an awesome concept. The staff was beyond awesome as well as the food and service. Too bad all cafes do not give this level of attentiveness to quality, detail and service. We sat outdoors and our grandson loved being able to see the various police cars and vehicles go by.

We’re so lucky in McKinney that we have a plethora of great restaurants to choose from, but Hugs Cafe has an added element of sweetness that you can’t get anywhere else. Of course their food is delicious (Trust me, we’ve tried everything on the menu and have never once been disappointed!) but it’s the people that work there that keep us coming back. Watching young men and women doing their jobs with such joy can’t help but expand to you. They are a delight! Everyone needs a hug…and a Hugs Cafe!

Four of us had a tasty lunch at Hugs and enjoyed both the food and the service. Everything had good flavor and was served quickly with a smile. So glad we found this spot. I would highly recommend it for lunch.

I ordered the Peach Gobbler sandwich. It was delicious! The peach chutney paired well with the turkey and bacon in the sandwich. I'd definitely recommend it if you want some sweetness with your sandwich.

If you have not eaten at Hugs, you are missing out on some yummy food and such caring service. This cafe is one-of-a-kind and even more special because of the people who work there. There is a lot to see and do in downtown McKinney but a visit to Hugs should be on EVERYONE'S list!

What an amazing place! The staff was super sweet, great owners, and the food was excellent. Ciara did such a good job serving, and Chris was very helpful! I've not been there I saw this Cafe on TCR I'm so love this place and I've not been there. Food looks awesome. I wish they would open another in San Antonio near Morgan's Town. If I'm ever close I would sooooo go there to ear.

Excellent food and fantastic people. You will leave Hugs with a happy belly and a smile on your face. We have been to Hugs Cafe once to twice a month. All of the food choices are good.

Staff are adults with "intellectual and developmental disabilities" (per their website). If this place doesn't make you happy... check your pulse! We had 5-cheese grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. The food was great! Don't forget to pickup one of their homemade cookies.

We had heard about Hugs Cafe and met friends there for lunch this week. It was even better than we expected. We were greeted immediately and ushered to a table. The food and service were amazingly good. We ordered a variety of food, and I can personally recommend the delicious tuna salad sandwich and the potato salad. As we were leaving, our waitress was gracious enough to pose for a picture with us.

This is such a lovely place where everyone is so kind. I love coming here because the food is delicious and it feels like home. I love the pimento cheese sandwich and their cookies are a slice of heaven!!

It's a great place for sandwich or a light meal. Parking maybe an issue if you go there at peak hours.

Street parking or free parking in Chestnut Garage on Chestnut St. Friendly and attentive customer service. Tasty food and the presentation was great. CONs: The menu may be a tad confusing but the order taker/cashier is helpful to clear it up. Cierra, hostess, is friendly and informative. Marker provided to circle your menu choices. Approx. $35 (with tip) we ordered Grilled Cheese with Orzo salad, Monte Cristo with garden salad & 1 soda.

What a delightful experience I had today. I walked in off the street not knowing much about this restaurant but once I entered I was warmly welcomed by the wait staff. I love this place. Highly recommend the roast beef sandwich and red onion soup combo. It tasted delicious. The staff here is so accommodating and helpful!!! I will definitely be returning!!

My daughter and I stumbled on to the gem this past Saturday. We were welcomed with kindness. Staff made us feel like family. Cierra is the sweetest hostess, server you will ever meet. Ricky kept us entertained as he likes to entertain with his witty humor. All Ricky needs is a mic and a beat, he will serenade to you. The food is fresh, well made and very yummy. You have to try the Monte Cristo and Tomato Basil soup. Hug’s is now my favorite go to on Saturday’s. See y’all next week.

We stopped by on our way out of town for a quick lunch, and I am so glad we did. The concept behind the restaurant is amazing. The opportunities provided to their employees are wonderful. But the cherry on top was the food and service. The peach chutney was so very good, the chicken salad was delicious, and the desserts were delightful. And the service came with a smile. I wish we were closer, but we will be back.

We have had Saturday lunch at Hugs Cafe for a number of times. Love the sandwiches with their house jams the best (both peach chutney and cherry almond jam are amazing). Highly recommend the Saturday special Monte Cristo. Soups and salads are all great. Almost cannot go wrong with anything here. Super efficient and friendly staff. It is more than a beloved neighborhood cafe. They are fully committed to their mission to provide training and employment to those with disabilities.

This place is absolutely wonderful. Our first time here and I can already say we will revisit. We ordered the roast beast with tortilla soup and Caesar salad. Everything was delicious. Love their mission.

Well unfortunately I was not able to go with my daughter today for her field trip. However that didn't dim her trip at all. I wanted to say thank you so much for putting a smile on her face. She loved her grilled cheese and noted that a gentleman told her "even though she has autism she can work there when she grows up" and that made her day. I'm so glad she had such a nice experience and could share it with me. Hugs all around!

We absolutely live this place and everything it does for the disabled community. The food is tasty, the people are friendly, and the location is good. We come in every time we are in town.

Where to begin, Hugs Cafe is one of those rare finds! Walking in it feels very homey feel like stepping into Grandma’s kitchen. We were greeted by a kind host and were seated in an open area where there was plenty of light. The lunch-like menu boasted a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and tasty sweet teas to wash it all down. I ordered The Mayor which consisted of turkey, cheddar cheese, bacon, and homemade peach chutney with a side salad and caesar dressing. What I liked best was the peach chutney as it contrasted with the bacon and it was good until the last bite. If I had one complaint it would have to be they did not give me the option to toast my marble rye bread. What sets Hugs Cafe apart is they are a non-profit that employs adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a café setting. Overall my experience at Hugs was amazing and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to eat tasty food and support a cause all at once.

Stopped by for a quick bite with my teen daughters this morning after Farmers Market. Friendly staff and good food. We all enjoyed and will be coming back.Their chocolate chip and sea salt cookies are yummy!

This place is fantastic! The food is amazing and the people working here are so warm and friendly. I had the Saturday special "The Monte Cristo" and it was delicious. Me and my wife took our one year old son, he had a great time and enjoyed the food as well. I'm so glad this place exists and am looking forward to many future visits.

Great lunch place! Lots of interesting sandwiches on the menu. Had the monte cristo. Pan fried instead of deep fried. Delicious! That cherry almond jam really made my sandwich exceptional. Friendly employees. Quick service. Will definitely go back!

Good sandwiches, reasonable price, good service. Like to visit this kind of small business which helps those people in need. Music is a little loud but we choose to sit in the corner which is fine. Will visit more frequently. Also visit McKinney museum nearby.

A great spot for a delicious sandwich or salad. You circle your order on a reusable menu, pay at the register and your order is brought to your table. Oh! Cierra was so sweet when she welcomed us in, we felt right at home! I loved every minute we were there.... my baby brother was differently abled and passed away 12 years ago. The workers were just what my soul needed a we enter a time of memories!! Thank you, Hugs Cafe!

Wow, the food here is actually super good. This is probably my favorite joint in downtown McKinney! The grilled cheese was great, the soup was the perfect consistency and taste, and I love that each plate comes with a little hershey’s kiss. The atmosphere is very cool and the staff is super friendly. Our food came out in a timely manner which is much appreciated! I don’t go in this area often, but if I can make it in time, I would love to come back for lunch again and try something new!

I read reviews here on trip advisor that this place was great (rated 5/5), but truly didn't believe it could be that good. But from the moment we walked in until we left (full and happy) it was the most comfortable experience possible. We were immediately greeted with smiles, handed menus and markers, and sat down. The lunch was great; my tuna sandwich on rye with sweet red onion soup, and her Cobb salad with tomato basil soup were scrumptious. We were checked on regularly to see if all was okay. It was a restaurant experience that one wishes ALL of them could be!

I walked in and I was greeted by everyone. I almost cried. This is an amazing place and super amazing people. Everyone is super nice and everyone smiles. There is never a reason to be rude to ANY of these amazing people. I simply love this place. I'll post pics next time.

My new favorite restaurant in McKinney. Great food and absolutely amazing service. We both loved our sandwiches and salads. The spicy and sweet pretzels are delicious. Plus their cookies are some of the best I've had. I can't say enough positives about Hugs, we'll definitely be back, I can't believe it's taken us this long to try it. I went with a friend for the first time a week ago and it won't be the last. The food was really good. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the grilled cheese with tortilla soup. The staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful. We will be back.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! This is the cutest place with the best staff. The soup and sandwich were delicious, but you have to try the wedding cake cookies. They are AMAZING!!

What a wonderful experience. My granddaughters (ages 3 & 5) HAD to take me to this special restaurant with the best Chocolate Chip cookies, so off we went. We were greeted at the door with a big hello and menus for lunch. We then placed our orders (which included Chocolate Chip Cookies) and were seated at our table by another host outside under the Texas blue skies. Lunch was served quite quickly and the plates were presented very nicely. Dare I say, every crumb was eaten by everyone. No takeaway boxes at this table. It was a delightful visit with everyone. This Cafe deserves a big hand and a huge thank you for a wonderful experience. Keep up the good work everyone. I'll be back on my next visit to McKinney.
