Hunan Garden in Eldersburg - Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews

We got some dinner take out from Hunan Garden recently. Service was fast and friendly with our food being ready in 20 minutes. It's a little pricey here. This is just a small takeout place with a couple small tables. The food was average, a little dry and I had hoped for more sauce. Unfortunately, if you want extra sauce it's $3! I expected my dish to taste different I ordered the beef in hot garlic sauce but it wasn't garlicky and was super sugary, salty and sweet. The Gen Tsos chicken was overcooked and tough. I enjoyed that they have a large menu and some healthier items like brown rice. The soups were pretty good I got the hot and sour (as seen in the photo), which was packed full of tofu, egg, mushrooms, etc. The wonton soup was a little over-salted but the wontons had a nice flavor and lots of them (11 in a quart). Some improvements could be made with the food but overall I was satisfied with my dinner from Hunan Garden.

Extremely disappointed with my recent visit. This was my second time since the change in ownership, and it will certainly be my last. The prices are exorbitant, portions have shrunk, and notably missing are the staple items like egg rolls and soup for the lunch special. The overall food quality and atmosphere have taken a noticeable downturn.

Basically a carry out with very tasty food and always a smile on their faces when I walk in. I enjoy the vegetarian/vegan dishes wife and kids love the “meat” dishes. As with everything now prices have increased but what hasn’t? When family wants Chinese this is where we go.

Portions are noticeably smaller, flavor is poor and prices are higher. Everything is an additional charge now. Facility is in need of a good cleaning. Very disappointed since the ownership changed hands. I do not recommend this restaurant. We will not return.

Best Chinese food in the region. I have had many dishes from this restaurant and liked everything that I had. The owners know their customers by name. Excellent service. My first choice go to when I want Chinese food. Unfortunately, they are closed on Monday's which forced me to make another choice this past Monday when I was craving Chinese. The other place cannot hold a candle to Hunan Garden. Portions are larger than any other Chinese carry out. They are a bit pricier but you do get a lot of food. There is a reason that Hunan Garden has the highest ratings in Eldersburg. EDIT: I have been getting carry out and delivery from Hunan Garden for several years now and it has been by far the best Chinese restaurant in Eldersburg. However that has all recently changed. I am not sure what is going on, but it seems some of their products are different. Perhaps they are ordering from a different vendor?? The egg rolls used to be large and stuffed with meat and veggies; now they are smaller and have nothing but cabbage inside with little to no flavor. The spring rolls were crispy and crunchy veg on the inside, now the inside is mush. Crab Rangoons are smaller with very little filling. Very disappointed and will look for another Chinese carry out in the area.

Food was awful tonight. All 3 dishes ordered. I heard there’s a new owner but not sure. The shrimp has changed completely, it used to be good. My goto Kun Pao had no vegetables as usually does and sauce had bad taste and was way too sweet. I’ve never had a bad meal before from them but my hubby and son said theirs was terrible too.
