Ichiban is my family’s go-to in the area for consistently excellent sushi. We love the wide selection, beautiful presentation, outstanding service, and, most important, the delicious food. We will continue to visit and recommend Ichiban to friends and family.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ichiban and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. The sushi was incredibly fresh, and the presentation was like a work of art. The flavors were authentic, and each dish was crafted with great attention to detail. The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive and knowledgeable, making excellent recommendations. The sake selection was impressive, complementing the meal perfectly. Anyway I highly recommend here for anyone looking for an authentic and memorable Japanese dining experience. I'll definitely be returning soon!

My kids and I enjoyed some delicious sushi. The presentation looked good as well. The staff there was extremely nice, especially our server. She made sure our drinks were full, and very nice. I will definitely head back there soon.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for years and I have to say, it has to be hands down, one of the best Japanese cuisine restaurants in the area, the food always comes out perfect. The owners are very friendly and accommodating, overall 10/10 place to go for any of your Japanese food cravings!!!!! 🥰😊

We’ve been coming here since it first opened. It’s always been great! The sushi is always fresh, tasty and visually appealing Also big fans of the gyoza, spicy Kani salad, and the ramen is also delicious. Will take pictures next time and update this review. Always a family favorite.

This is a great restaurant! Service is top notch! The part that is sad to see is a filthy entrance vestibule to great the customers. Also the dirty blinds that are right next to tables where customers sit and eat. They just need to clean.

Not a great Japanese dining experience. The miso soup was extremely light, the sashimi, while fresh, was expensive and not well cut, and the agedashi tofu was... well, something, but not agedashi tofu. The bento box with katsu don was all right, although the katsu was too dry and over-fried. Otherwise, it's a run of the mill strip mall restaurant.

I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. Service and atmosphere were fine but the biggest letdown was the food. We ordered miso soup, chicken yakitori, a couple of sushi rolls, and salmon teriyaki entree. The miso soup was very oversalted. The first few spoonfuls were bearable but by the end of finishing the soup, the salty taste was overpowering. The chicken yakitori were not bad. The sushi rolls were decent. The salmon teriyaki dinner was the worst. The salmon was dry, overcooked, seemed cooked from frozen, not fresh. Our server was very friendly. No complaints there. The food came out at a reasonable time. The atmosphere was nice. Lowly lit and not too loud. The place seem clean as well. Overall, the only complaint I have is the food. With that being said, no matter how good the service and atmosphere is, if the food isn't great, it doesn't matter in my opinion.

Ichiban deserves 5 stars! Owner is very nice and you can tell the food are made with efforts and love! Sushi are very fresh. Try it!

I have been going to Ichiban for years and have never had a bad experience here. The owner Annie and her husband are always so kind and friendly as well as the entire team of staff there. I try to go once a week because the food is so good, affordable, and they act like they are genuinely happy to see you there. Annie has helped me navigate menu options as someone who was recently diagnosed with celiac disease. She is always looking out for me. I appreciate her and everyone there so much. Definitely my favorite sushi spot in Buffalo.

I’ve given this place the benefit of the doubt because sometimes its good and other times its not. The first picture is a specialty ‘Black Dragon’ roll I ordered for $14. It cost more than the other two rolls I ordered combined. Not only that, but this roll is advertised as being topped with a whole piece of eel, and you all can clearly see that half of my roll has no eel on top! And look at the size of this ‘specialty roll.’ Each piece is less than a half inch thick! I’m over it. Save yourselves the trip and eat somewhere else. Inconsistent, and in my opinion this place is hustling you out of your money by being cheap with their seafood. Really unfortunate

I cannot say enough great things about Ichiban. The staff is friendly, efficient and accurate, and the sushi is out of this world. I can't go more than a week, sometimes a few days without craving the Tiger Roll. Anytime I get sushi from anywhere else, I'm immediately upset that it's not Ichiban because nothing else compares! It's always so fresh and delicious.

1/7/2024 I love it here. Great service great atmosphere great! FOOD! They had vegan food and they had sushi and a bunch of other stuff I didnt know. But it was good.

We mostly grab takeout from here and in my opinion, it’s the freshest sushi in the area. Try the ichibana house roll if you want something fun.

Excellent sushi! We drive over an hour just to come here. It has been a struggle to find a high quality sushi restaurant in the area. Ichiban is the first I've found that has a nice variety of rolls that aren't all masked with spicy tuna. They have sushi chefs and not some guy named Mark you went to trade school with that's into "fusion" ie. Adding pork or hot sauce to everything and cutting portion sizes/jacking prices. The special rolls were huge, some having 10 pieces. My only complaint was that the Wasabi Lobster roll was 80% crunch, 1%lobster, 19% everything else. I would never order that again. The Ichiban roll was fresh and very much like a Naruto Roll but with rice. I would highly recommend. The mango tango tasted great but was the size of a standard $6 roll. I also got the scallop, white tuna, and the Naruto- which were all very fresh and tasty. I love that they offer a variety of sake at very reasonable prices. Oh and the age tofu was pretty good. It was a large portion, which I like but... usually the pieces are smaller so they don't fall apart and become a hot mess. Which is what happened so it was difficult to eat. I'd still order again! I was also happy to find they offer both low and regular sodium soy sauce which is pretty rare now that most have switched to only low sodium. All the staff especially our server were so nice, efficient, and friendly and everything was very reasonably priced. I'm already planning for my next dinner!

I love that I can still get a great hibachi dinner but at a different setting. The sushi is beautifully plated and I love the bento box lunch options! Over all great pricing and we visit regularly.

The food is delicious and the presentation is beautiful. The servers are helpful and the food comes comes out very fast. I've never left disapointed.

Ordered food and some to take home only to find out they didn't make our food to take home, when the check came they asked if I wanted to pay again so then we'd get hit with a tax again. Told them to forget the food to take out. Just payed the bill for the food we got and left

We are regulars of Ichiban, they are our favorite sushi place in the Southtowns. They make fresh and delicious sushi. They are a warm staff that remember us. I have celiac, they have always been very good about omitting sauces I cannot have. I have never had a reaction. I stick to the simple rolls and sushi nigiri. Tonight there was a mistake and part of our order had a sauce with gluten. The kitchen staff quickly reprepared the affected sushi. I really appreciate their care and highly reccomend them to all folk including the gluten-free community <3

This is now on my list of favorite local sushi restaurants. Friendly and speedy service and amazing food! We had several special sushi rolls and they were all top notch. I highly recommend the tempura Oreos for dessert!

I’ve had sushi all over America and figured why not try this place while in town for work. Highly disappointed with portion sizes. Two slices of sashimi and one of sushi when ordered individually.

Our favorite place for sushi lunch or dinner. Staff is nice and always fresh. My daughter also loves the chicken fried rice here.

Easily. Easily the best spot in the area for fresh fish. I’ve eaten here for 14 years and am embarrassed I haven’t taken the time to encourage you to enjoy an Excellent plate of Sashimi. Ichiban never misses. Be sure to ask for Sophia, she’s a genuine sweetheart.

I've been going to Ichiban for many years now. They are always the place compare other sushi restaurants to. Scant few have ever compared. The lunch special is the way to go and never fails to make my day.

Best pepper tuna salad I ever have ! I try to find poke bowl in this area , my server recommended chirashi bowl for me. You can tell the fish are so fresh and very pretty presentation. And the special roll, love the sauce so tasty. Small restaurant but server so friendly and quick, definitely will come back again!

GREAT FOOD! Fresh, the cuts of meat were carefully selected and served beautifully. We ordered Hibachi. Not over salted, so important with some of these chains where they use too much. Not here. Staff was very friendly.

first time here,small inside but service was quick and menu was larger than expected. I had the hibachi chicken off the lunch menu. food was hot and tasted great, nice size portions, didn't leave hungry. staff very friendly. will definitely go back

I will give this review for not having good customer service in online orders. They let me go through pick out my order asking all the family what they want. u taking funds off my card. Then u cancel order and i have to wait up to 5 business days for a refund now. If u don't want to take online orders take your business off the app please.

Thank you for the wonderful evening we had today!! The sushi was top notch and delicious! We have been coming to this location for close to 8years, and have always had awesome sushi & hibachi. Our server was very sweet, and they are very attentive to your needs, always making sure your glass is never empty& making sure your food is perfect. :) The chefs are amazing, and definitely know what they are doing!! Awesome restaurant will definitely be coming back again and again. :) Keep up the great work, and great food!!

Great food, great service, friendly. Loved the hibachi steak and beef teriyaki.

The attention to fine details is what separates this high quality local restaurant from any other dining establishment in Buffalo (at least from my experience); A few examples are the napkins are linen, the plates are sturdy, the chopsticks feel ergonomic. I'm not a big fan of soups, but I decided to get soba which was okay. But the other person that came with me got fried rice with chicken and it was AMAZING. We also had tempura green tea ice cream (if you go here, do yourself a favor and PLEASE get this for yourselves). Overall, nothing short of an amazing place and the staff Sean and Brittany are the most lovable people ever. Edit: We’re here again and the food is still bomb. Make sure to get some yum yum sauce.

My boyfriend and I love this place! We come to Ichiban at least once a week. The sushi is amazing and my go-to. We also enjoy their entrees as well. The employees are super nice and accommodating. We feel so welcomed when we come here. The ambiance is nice too.

Food was very delicious! My take out order was missing some of the dishes and the restaurant called to quickly rectify! They delivered it in a timely manner and even included some beer for the trouble. A+ now that is customer service

I truly regret not coming here much much sooner. Cool and cozy spot. Great server that was knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions on what we like. We had the yellow tail jalapeno, calamari, tiger roll and king crab roll. The rolls are big! Flavors were great and we are looking forward to our next visit or even doing take out. We had a reservation for 8 on a Friday night and it was a little busy when we got there but the service was not affected. Check it out

This is the best Japanese restaurant in the town! The food is so fresh and delicious! They provide very good service as well; waiters are very friendly and nice! I would give more stars on the rating if I could! 100% recommended! You guys should all come to try and you would definitely enjoy the food and service there!

Food was excellent and well priced, food came out quickly, waitress was not seen again after dropping food at the table, never checked to see how everything was or to refill drinks.
