You can’t get better food than this place! Homemade pasta, sauces, yummy appetizers and dessert. Place fills up quickly because this hidden gem has been found! Come early to get a spot!

Delicious and great staff.. worth eating in the parking lot. Loud inside and outdoor seats are literally in the lot, but they are doing their best to make it pleasant and delicious.

Can’t say enough about the Caesar salad! Homemade croutons are the bomb. Eggplant Parm is out of this world. Check them out for their weekly specials. No one else on the island compares!

Very expensive for a very small portion. Chicken parmesan was not breaded, seems like they steamed a very small piece of chicken until it was tender then put sauce on top. Caesar salad was oily and pasta was dry. I’ve never had an oily Caesar salad. Not even a piece of bread to go with it. Maybe it’s different if you eat it there in person. Wouldn’t recommend take out.

Fantastic dining experience. We sat at the bar, bartender Tess was wonderful, her drinks are superb, especially her tequila cosmo (which my best gal pal Jess calls a "tosmo" these days, it's got a cute vibe to it). The mussels appetizer were out of this world, they use a veal stock but graciously omitted that so the pescetarian could enjoy it. It's the type of dish you don't want to end, as you savor the last of the broth with the crustini, seriously...next level divinity. I had heard good things about the eggplant parm, and the term "good" is an understatement; thin, crispy, perfect amount of cheese and a delicious tomato sauce/gravy, served with a side of house-made pasta. I am an eggplant parm aficionado and this was literally the best I have ever had. We had a great chat with the owner, Sarah, and it's that type of ownership/management genuine kindness that makes guests return. As usual we closed out the night with an espresso martini, and they use freshly made espresso which seals the deal, BOOM! I live in the northern part of the state and will not hesitate to get back down to Ida's every chance I get.

never go back to RI without a stop at Ida's Italian restaurant. We have been going for a long time. As former RI residents who now live in Fl. we do not have anything as good as this where we live now. I love the meatballs with pasta. My wife loves anything they make with salmon. The food is really fresh and well made. The owners are on site most times we go. The staff is great. Two remembered us and said."welcome back" this was really nice. Good for the entire family. A true gem.

The atmosphere at Ida's during dinner time was quite cozy and soothing. All of their pasta is made daily in their kitchen. I ordered their linguine with homemade meatballs and it was delicious. The meatballs were spiced well and I could taste the freshness in their pasta. It's pricey but you get what you pay for. The portions for their main pasta dishes are plentiful. The service was attentive and friendly! They have dinner specials on their chalkboard above the bar but since everything is homemade, they only have a limited amount. So if the ingredients run out for the evening, then their specials are no longer available. I would recommend Ida's for a special occasion or a date night! 2024 Update: Returned 7 years later and everything is still phenomenal! I tried the scallops and linguine marsala this time around. Delicious!

The food was impressive driving by first time here everything tastes delicious. Kelly was a great waitress. The atmosphere was great. Will come back when in town for sure.

Everything about the Ida's experience is beyond five stars. Food was insanely delicious--I had the scallop special appetizer (and could happily eat it everyday), side of eggplant, and split the orange cake/biscotti for dessert. Unbelievable!!! Every server, and the owner, goes above and beyond--friendly, attentive, and warm. This restaurant should be the #1 stop when visiting the island or Newport.

Ida’s is an absolute gem of a restaurant on Aquidneck Island. Consistently amazing food made fresh with quality ingredients (including fresh pasta) that is plated beautifully. Everything on the menu is delicious, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the vibe is excellent.

Ida’s is that place where the owner, host, bartender, server smile at you…and mean it. Ida’s is that place where you know you’ll always get a great meal and a delicious cocktail. Ida’s is that place where the people next to you at the bar or at the table next to yours will smile at you too because you’re all chuffed to have found this wonderful lovely cozy restaurant. Ida’s is the place you can go to with your date, your pal, or just yourself. The fact that it’s woman-owned is just the cheese atop their incredible meatballs. But…get there early or they’ll have 86’d said meatballs. 😉😋👌🏻

I was very impressed with this place, we started with the garlic bread and the server recommended gorgonzola sauce which was fantastic. I had the best eggplant parm I have ever had in my life, the pasta was outstanding. The service was good, the food was fantastic, pricing was reasonable, the restaurant itself was nice. I highly recommend this place. To the owner, manager, and staff keep up the excellent work I look forward to my next visit.

First time at Ida's. Lovely ambiance. Generous portions. All Fresh and cooked to order. Excellent service. Nothing better than fresh homemade pasta except homemade pasta with delicious sauces and well prepared protein. Truly tender veal. One of the best marsala sauces I've ever had. I ordered chicken gorgonzola. Very rich, but oh so good. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes.

Always my favorite and the chicken Gorgonzola and garlic bread never disappoint. The staff is super friendly and top notch. New ownership so I hope they don’t change a thing. It would be a disaster if they did. This is a gold mine!

We had meatballs as an appt. and the ginger carrots, both ate veal rosamarino. Excellent flavors done to perfection. I would have again. No pictures sorry.

We have eaten at ida's twice in the last week as we were on vacation in Newport. Both times the food and service was excellent.i highly recommend this place

GREAT FOOD. A WONDERFUL SURPRISE

Showed up randomly with no expectations and was impressed. Reservations likely recommend on busy nights but the wait was not long when we showed up. Restaurant was full but service was timely, coursed appropriately, serving sizes were generous and wait staff was excellent. Highly recommend.

A great Italian restaurant in the Newport area. The restaurant has a very friendly and family vibe going. The menu contains many staples of American Italian dining. The pasta is made freshly each day and you can appreciate the quality. The staff was all very polite, friendly and helpful. While I do not live in the Newport area, it is a place I would recommend to those traveling to this area, and one I hope to return to some day.

Four of us went to Ida’s for dinner last evening. Our waitress Lindsay apparently just graduated from The Rhode Island School of Hospitality and could not have been more curt, rude, literally sarcastic, nor totally disinterested. Food the same, VIBE entirely different. Dan Puerini owned it, but retired in May. The Puerini Family flair retired with him. Ida’s has disintegrated from a warm welcoming cozy atmosphere to a strip mall cafeteria vibe. I was actually reminded of a Disney self-serve restaurant where all the waitresses stand around just waiting to shuffle you out, clear off your table and make way for the next nondescript human in their day. The end of an era for sure.

The meal was outstanding. The service was the best i had in a long time.

Ein leckerer italiener in Newport/Middletown. Das Essen ist sehr, sehr lecker, ob Chicken oder Nudeln. Man sitzt typisch amerikanisch in einem größeren Raum, der nicht wirklich unterteilt ist. Trotzdem ist es sehr angenehm. Eine Reservierung kann nötig sein. Das Personal ist superfreundlich und die Preise verhältnismäßig gut. Hinweis für deutsche Reisende, die es nicht gewöhnt sind: Das Tap-Water bzw. die Eiswürfel enthalten wie bei vielen Restaurants in der Region etwas Chlor. Das ist nicht jedermanns Sache! Ggf. Eiswürfel abbestellen oder Wasser aus der Flasche bestellen, das aber im Gegensatz dazu kostenpflichtig ist.

Homemade pasta was excellent. Great service.

Place was hopping. Obviously a popular local place. Food was very flavorful without being teary eyed spicy. Portions were very generous. Prices fair for the area. Bathrooms clean. Also have outside patio. We ate inside due to heat but there were quite a few happy patrons outside. Parking isn't huge and it's shared with Thai place next door so can be challenging. Why 4 score not 5. Kitchen was slower than expected. Our server spent a greater than average chatting up the locals. I understand friendly but balance it with serving all your tablea.

Stumbled upon this place on vacation. Super good food and service. Atmosphere was kid-friendly (loud enough to drown out our toddler haha) but not overly chaotic. Prices seemed reasonable for homemade pasta and sauces in our opinion. Would definitely visit again!

My dinner was good, but I think it was overpriced. It was about $23 for "chicken & biscuits". I thought it tasted good though.

Owner and staff were outstanding! The homemade pasta was very excellent, the chicken picata was good - the portion was a little small. The restaurant was much too noisy so we ended up taking out.

Excellent food, service and overall warm atmosphere, we can tell that lots of locals eat here often, because the servers seemed to know everyone. The linguine scampi was great as well as the meatball sliders.

3 words. Go To Ida's. You won't regret it. Marsala dishes delicious! Not overpowering. Veal gorgonzola lick-the-plate worthy. Staff was friendly and solicitous.

I ordered the chicken parmenan. It came without any CHEESE ! Took forever to get hostess attention. She never rushed to correct the order mistake. Took foreverto get some CHEESE on chicken parmesan. By time was returned to table my two friends were DONE ! Ruined the experience. Portions small.

Great customer service! So warm and welcoming. I’m not from this area of the country, and I’ve quickly noticed a different level of customer service and friendliness is acceptable here, but the staff at Ida’s shattered all those conceived notions and I was pleasantly surprised the moment I walked in the door. I was already thoroughly impressed and then I tasted the food. Delicious! Ida’s Restaurant delivered in every way. Will definitely return again before I leave.

Absolutely loved this place. Don't let the location put you off. The food is excellent, service is personal and friendly, the Bolognese is to die for. We were visiting the area and went twice. Each time they made us feel like regular local customers.

We really wanted to love this place. All the of the hoopla and word-of-mouth...everything was positive about this place. We started with the stuffed mushroom caps as an appetizer, which contained crumbled sausage with Fontinella cheese. We detected no cheese whatsoever, but they were still decent. Then came the oregano. Most every true Italian restaurant I've been to does not put oregano in their marinara sauce or meat sauce. Different sauces perhaps, including pizza sauce (I actually make my pizza sauce this way). It's so pungent and can take over any marinara or meat sauce. The chicken parm was breaded and actually quite flavorful, moist, and tender and the portion size was decent. My veal parm was pounded into oblivion and had no breading on it. It spread out into a decent sized piece (which got lost in the sauce), but was so thin it had to have been a small piece of veal to begin with. I would like to go back and try something that doesn't involve their red sauce.

Really good Italian food, great service and a reasonable cost. Their pasta is reportedly homemade (I really don't know the difference). My wife got the fried eggplant with a side of pasta in a pesto sauce. She really enjoyed it. I went with the regular pasta and meatballs. I did need to add crushed red pepper to give the sauce some kick.

Broccoli Alfredo was dry and the pasta stuck together. Also, lasagna noodles were tough and actually crunchy in parts. Couldn’t cut the lasagna with a fork. Had to saw with a knife! Looked like someone left it under the salamander too long! Sadly, won’t be going back. Waste of money!

We went for dinner and found it very expensive for what you got and the overall atmosphere. The food was okay - nothing great, although I love that they make their own pasta. Service was also okay - extremely harried even though they weren't that busy, and the atmosphere was okay. It's where you would go for a quick bite to eat, and it's great for that, except it was overpriced.

We had the best dinner last night. I had been thinking about the red pepper alfredo for a few weeks and it never disappoints. From the cocktails to salads, appetizers, main courses and dessert.. Ida's in always delicious. A must, IF you haven't been. If you haven't...whatcha waiting for??

We chose to grab 2 seats at the bar instead of a table. The bartender was awesome! She was funny and friendly. The drinks were great too. The food was EXCELLENT!!! It was so hard to choose! I had a chicken dish and my husband the chicken parm with fresh pasta. We had a nice time, didn't feel rushed and can't wait to eat there again. Definitely enjoy a meal at Ida's!

Found this very nice friendly restaurant off the beaten path in Middletown R.I. just a couple of mikes out of Newport. Excellent service, great food, nice wine list and the owner came over to speak with us, as if we were coming there for years. We had delicious stuffed mushrooms, a gorganzola salad, veal picatta, and veal with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms in a wine cream sauce. Veal was tender and delicious. Pasta with tomato sauce was a nice side. Prices were reasonable. If you are ever in Newport, try and visit this gem.

We stopped into Ida's early on a Friday evening which was a good thing because the restaurant filled up quickly. The staff was welcoming and the service was efficient. The food was excellent and piping hot. The kitchen staff did an amazing job. We will definitely be back.

Wished we had discovered this place earlier in our week. We did have dinner here twice and it was the best Italian food we've had in a long time. Really enjoyed the veal gorgonzola.

The restaurant was incredibly loud and cold. The waitress was very friendly though it was hard to hear her over the volume of the crowd. They were out of a few items on their menu which wasn’t a problem. Their small garden salad was truth in advertising but very good. The entrees were incredibly small and in my Italian opinion bland. The sauce had no flavor and the fresh made pasta was not very good. My husbands entree had very small and very few veal cutlets. He ended up eating mine because then he at least had a full plate of food. I expected a lot more from a place that has so many good reviews?

The food: pesto, shrimp, tuna (and the 4 amazing dipping sauces) and of course the fresh made pasta. The service: friendly and fast. The atmosphere: cool artwork, open kitchen. The wine: great Chianti!

Got to Rhode Island this evening and motel suggested this restaurant a few blocks away. It turned out to be a winner. The service was attentive. While the menu was not expansive, there was a good selection. I like my pasta al dente and mine was perfect. If you are in the area, you can’t go wrong with this place. Prices were comparable to home, not cheap but not overly expensive - good value. Would go back.

Cozy & friendly eatery w great service. Kitchen can accommodate gluten free. Highly recommend the delicious Greek & Beet salads. Long list of entrees. Classic faves as well as unexpected dishes. Chicken entrees - parmagiana, marsala, and one w a spiced cream sauce served over biscuits all very good. Patio dining first come first serve. Some may find indoor seating too close for comfort when crowded. Restaurant fills quickly & remains busy. Recommend arriving early. Restaurant opens 4:30.

There's veal parm and then there's Ida's Veal Parm! Don't remember having better. Our four especially enjoyed each of the perfectly al dente'd pasta accompanying all of our creative meals. And the salads that preceded them were also perfect and perfectly dressed. We'll be back!

I’ve had a lot of Italian food and I feel that there are many restaurants that think they can do Italian. This place is the real deal! All of their pasta is home made. I highly recommend the bolognese sauce and lasagna. Even their house dressing on the salad was delicious. It feels like everything is made with care and intention. We found a gem!
