This place is just awesome. A true hidden gem of Rockville and Montgomery County... just try them once. No, they're not a pizza joint, they are a fabulous Italian restaurant.

I had the best Italien meal in decade. I had the mushroom raviolis with the pistachio sauce. Just a perfectly balanced dish. The ravioli were excellent but the pistachio sauce was sooooo good that I could have licked the plate. I have tasted my friends’ choices and the dishes were delicious as well.

The best in the cut little Italian place I've ever been to. Fantastic selection of complimenting wines to go with your meal as well as friendly service. Servers are informed and accommodating. Being next to a gas station, you wouldn't know this gem existed unless you were told about it or decided to randomly Google search local restaurants like I did. I'm glad I found it because this place is a class act.

Fabulous food and excellent service. Decoŕ a bit dated but you can easily enjoy conversation in this restaurant.

My wife and I had lunch here today. She had the Rockfish and I had the creamed onion blue cheese appetizer and the pasta with tomatoes, prosciutto, peas, sun dried tomato and Parmesan cheese. I was too full for dessert. Everything was excellent- especially the creamed onion with blue cheese. We’ve been there many times and will definitely return.

IL Pizzico is an excellent italian restaurant, finwsse and great taste make this place a favorite to be visited many times. It has maintained its quality for more than 30 years. So , this is just a wonderful place, and you will be soooo surprised if you are willing to pass the gas station and street mall setting. This restaurant shocked me. I would never expect what I found. The location is not so extravagant, so you are not expecting much, but as soon as you cross the front door, the dream begins. The table clothes are the whites and most crisp, the service is wonderful and the atmosphere is very nice. The restaurant is very quaint. Food is super tasty and very well presented. Every single dish we ordered, I was super happy with. We started strong and finished strong. It's one of those places you just walk on, and you want to keep coming back. I very much recommend it if you are up for nice Italian food.

I had an amazing lunch here! Food is amazing! Service was great. The only thing not perfect was the location, it seems a bit dangerous to take u-turn there for parking. But the food was so good. It’s kinda worth it.

I've been a client for about 10 years and never disappointed. Food is excellent and the staff takes good care of their clients. This is by far my favorite restaurant.. been eating here for years and have always had just the best meals every time. The service is top notch and the mushroom ravioli is literally to die for.

Food is excellent for an unassuming spot in a strip mall located in the suburbs. The ownership/host are snarky snobs. The curly haired hostess talks trash about the customers (your voice carries, dah'ling). If you can look past the ridiculous of the front of the house, it's a lovely experience for the food. The wait staff are ultra attentive. Parking situation sucks.

Il Pizzico never disappoints. A beet salad was on the menu for lunch appetizer. Beets are an acquired taste but this dish was delicious. A mild dressing, and toasted hazelnuts added a surprise crunch.Pasta was up to standard. Enjoyable lunch with perfect service.

Wow...squash blossoms stuffed with goat cheese were fried perfectly and the soft shell crab special was beautifully prepared. I must say in the 30 plus times over the years eating here......this was the best meal by far! New Chef?

No one should ever come here because we want it all to ourselves! Unassuming and outstanding for decades now...I don't understand how they do it.

Small crowded place. Average quality food, average srvice, cheap location. Overpriced for location, ambience, and quality of food. Lentel soup was somewhat ok for $10. Pasta with eggplant less than ok. Few small pieces of eggplant and pasta for $20. Beer selection is very small, and desert $10. Almost $60 per person. Sorry won't come back any time soon. Not enjoyed... This is our third time here. Previous times we had a better experience...

Once again, it was another wonderful evening dinner as usual they’re cocktails are awesome and what can we say the risotto our favorite dish along with pistachio pasta, and to top it off with the best dessert ln the house.

Best Italian food in local! Hand made pasta with tasty source. The vegetarian dishes are amazing, their special source enrich the taste. Pasta is chewy and cooked perfectly. Dessert is also sweet in a perfect touch, not too much suger.

The best Italian within 100 miles. Amazing pasta, the freshest fish and ingredients. Seasoned and sauced perfectly. A terrific staff, always exceptional. Inside a warm, welcoming, comfortably luxurious interior. One of the best in the entire DMV and we'll beyond. An excellent dining experience for decades and always!

Really good quality, chef prepared food. The salmon and the seafood pasta were delicious. But everything is delicious there.

I called multiple times to place an order for pick up but no answer. No biggie. Then went there to place in person only to be told by the host to place it online, something to the tune of “We operate differently here”. Quite the attitude and arrogance but then again, no biggie. Then I ordered online only to get an error message it couldn’t processed on certain days…. The host was not empathetic at all and had the worst of attitude. No place has the right to act this way, especially for an Italian food in the Maryland suburbs. I grew up in Jersey with truly authentic Italian food from folks who treated you with warmth, kindness and compassion. This establishment can lower the hubris. Otherwise, the business will not last long with this unnecessary act….do better!

Flavorless sauce, no meat (in meat sauce), along with rude service was the highlight. I sent an email to the owners to allow them to remedy or address this and heard nothing back. Won't be going back since the owners aren't interested.

Il Pizzico has good food but unfortunately our party of 5 could not get a table. We tried calling a few times and the restaurant did not answer the phone. We tried to make reservations on line but there were technical issues. Finally we went to the restaurant at 5:30 pm hoping for a table. There were none. We were told they don’t answer the phone during serving hours and the online reservation issue was “a glitch”. There were plenty of seats at the bar and we asked to have dinner there. We were told that serving dinner at the bar would overwhelm the staff. As we we were going to the theater later we asked if there might be a restaurant nearby we could try. We were told “we’re not from around here” so we can’t help you.” I’ll say “we can’t help you” certainly was true.

We had a fantastic belated Valentine's Day dinner, all the dishes were lovely and we had a great experienced server that made the experience all the more pleasant. The mushroom ravioli with pistachio sauce was so unique and delicious and the short ribs and polenta were a perfect combination. Can't wait to come back again.

From the outside, it’s easy to pass this unassuming storefront without noticing that it hides a remarkable kitchen, excellent ambiance, and attentive customer-centric serving team from the owners/managers to the waitstaff to the bus team. It’s important to point out that there is a smart casual dress code which actually makes it fun and engaging to dress up and make the visit a meaningful occasion. The ambiance and decor is warm and darkly lit by each table topped with a unique table lamp. Though we were seated in a little cozy corner nook behind the wine racks, we never felt ignored as no less than 6 different ppl including the two owners came by to ensure we had everything we needed. This kind of customer service just makes you feel welcome as if I go their homes. The well stocked and interesting menu offers an ample combination of meat, vegetarian, and seafood dishes. The bread basket is really good and instead of butter it was refreshing to see an olive tapanade. For antipasti, we enjoyed the grilled eggplant bundle filled with mozzarella and ricotta topped with balsamic and tomato sauce that we used for dipping the warm bread. Our two pasta dishes both landed exquisitely, one was the sublime-colored ravioli filled with mushrooms and ricotta inside in a pistachio cream sauce. The other was a perfectly cooked spaghetti noodle dish with mussels shrimps scallops and calamari in a light tomato sauce whose saltiness reminded us of the ocean. In between we also liked the spinach salad mixed with gorgonzola, pancetta, walnut and sliced pears. For our entrees I would rate the rockfish very highly, as it was fresh, succulent and had a tinge of smoky taste, resting on a bed of broccolini, potatoes and endives, tastefully decorated with a swish of beet sauce. The shrimp and sea scallops dish was not as good, the endives or fennel was way too salty we thought. Recommend the crème brûlée and the tiramisu - both are perfect endnotes - and complementing the meal with a glass of wine from their extensive list. There is parking in front and more in the back. In the future we plan to come back here for a celebratory meal or just want to sample fine Italian cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere.

Upscale comfy, Italian restuarant in Rockville. Not your ordinary Italian food, a little pricy, but overall great service and tasty food. Lunch was two was $70+, without wine or appetizers. Cuppuccino was not tasty and pricy, so would not recommend this drink.

Pasta dish nicely prepared and presented although could have benefited from more prominent seasoning. The cannoli flavors were distinctive and delicious.

The service was spectacular. Our server was perfectly attentive and kind. The restaurant itself was only okay. We ordered the charcuterie board and were shocked to find it came with only four tiny sticks (seriously, think the length of a toothpick and the width of a pinky finger- maybe smaller) of cheese. Just four tiny cheese slices! For the price point of this place, you’d think they wouldn’t skimp on deli … the entrees were also okay. Again- for the price point and previous reviews, we were expecting the food to be spectacular, when it was only comparable to an elevated Olive Garden. I ordered the daily special wild boar risotto, and my partner ordered the infamous pistachio ravioli. We both shared each dish and agreed it was only okay. The tiramisu dessert was excellent and the highlight of our trip. Absolutely worth the price point there. It’s a fun experience for a one-time visit, but we probably won’t return.

Terrible overpriced birthday dinner. Going for years. Getting worse. Calamari appetizer very good, but portion minuscule and too much bread crumbs. Refused to sell Pinot noir by bottle and only allowed sale by glass. All dinner portions were much smaller than before and not as good. All 4 in group agreed. Will not go back.

Truly, one of the two best restaurants in Maryland. Food, service, atmosphere and staff. Consistently GREAT FOOD. They care about you, they care about what they’re serving and whether you’re enjoying your meal and if possible will alter meals to accommodate you. How could you eat anywhere else. Cozy, fine-dining atmosphere, exceptional service (Thank you, Marcus and Dine!), and the food is unique, richly delicious, and beautifully presented. Dress is business or "smart casual." Reservations are definitely recommended. This is the perfect place for special dinners. We enjoyed our wedding anniversary here and plan to come back for many more date nights and celebrations!

All I can say is the food really really stinks and when my son Gets 10 fries on his plate. It was pathetic and the food was the worst I’ve eaten for a very long time, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone save your money save your time

I have the privilege of coming here often to spend a romantic time with my boyfriend. I absolutely love this place from the linen table clothes and napkins to the manager, always saying it's OK to make my favorite dish for me when I request it. Best Italian in the DC area. RPM who? Don’t know her. Also idk why Google says this place is ‘casual’ don’t be fooled by its unassuming location this is a white tablecloth restaurant and attire is definitely business casual. The pasta here is just unbelievable. You can go all the way to Tuscany and you won’t find a dish as good as the pistachio ravioli here. For once in my life I did not order it and was tempted away by the special of the night, the pear risotto, and my pistachio ravioli might have a hot competitor now. The tuna tartar was also a standout favorite at the table. And the desserts were just the right size for a few nibbles to share.

Terrible parking and the staff are horrendously rude.

The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere, while great in design and potential, was ruined by the very rude host/manager. Our waiter was amazing and attentive as were the serving staff. However, the host/manager barked at wait staff in the main dining room stating, “Don’t make me serve your table again!” and presented an overall unwelcoming demeanor as if it was an inconvenience to greet individuals he did not know personally.

Both the waiter and the hostess had the single worse attitudes I've ever seen in a restaurant PERIOD. The hostess had an attitude not only when scheduling the appointment but upon arrival, followed by the server who after getting us our drinks decided himself it was time for us to place our order. After telling him we need more time they were out of the entire menu when he came back.

“Name your favorite restaurant in the area?” Answer: easy, Il Pizzico!! I love this restaurant because the specials are always spectacular and unique and the menu items across the board are delicious and well cooked and there’s always a different dish to try that delivers. The risotto constantly blows me away. It’s often a special and whether it’s mushroom or pancetta, it’s always rich in flavor and the risotto is perfectly cooked. The scallops are also cooked perfectly. The desserts are amazing - the crème brûlée consistently stands out, as does the chocolate mousse. Most recently I tried the stuffed eggplant with ricotta appetizer and was so impressed. The service is also great and the restaurant is nicer but the dress code is only smart casual.

We moved to metro DC ten years ago. There is so much to delight the diner. Then, last night we had the good fortune to have supper with friends at Il Pizzico. I parked right by the door even on this Saturday evening, was greeted warmly, and our party of six was seated at a table in a cozy nook by the window. The wine list was extensive. I ordered the mushroom ravioli and my wife had a salmon dish. Both great! Pricing was competitive for this area. We'll be back.

We came to Il Pizzico in 1994 for our prom night. 29 years later and the food is even better than we remembered. The calamari was tender and flavorful. Everything tasted homemade. It was all made with care and attention to detail. Don't let the exterior fool you~ you are in for a high quality and lovely dining experience inside!

Rude, unwelcoming host. Said their was a restaurant policy not to seat anyone until the whole party was present. Never suggested or offered me the option of sitting at the bar while I waited. Spent the entire time that I waited socializing with regulars. When I commented on leaving about how I was treated at arrival, just got very aggressive and agitated. Even the great food and table service doesn’t make up for the host’s behavior.

Rude unwelcoming host experience couldn’t be overcome by good food and table service. Host behavior was argumentative and appalling.

We dined in and we were seated in a cozy little alcove. The appetizers were delicious and the main courses were delightful. I had read a review that praised the mushroom ravioli in a cream pistachio sauce and it didn't disappoint at all. I will make it a point to come here again when I am back in Maryland.

This is a great restaurant with outstanding food, atmosphere, wine, etc. But this review is specifically about the bartender on duty tonight. He was rude and insulting. He insulted my mother because she wanted to pour her own tonic on her gin, to her taste. He was not joking or kidding around. When I asked him if he thought it was appropriate to insult the customers for asking to have their drinks their way, he said "yes, you're weird " We've been dining here since the restaurant opened and will continue to dine here... but not today. The hostess was gracious enough to offer to "make it up to us" but we declined.

Went for a birthday dinner. The restaurant atmosphere is spectacular, beautiful inside. Do not be fooled by the exterior. Once you walk inside it’s like you’re somewhere else! The staff and service was top notch, we were treated really well and they had extra servers checking on us and getting us water and other things while the main waiter focused on food. The food was delicious, perfect portion sizes. For two, I recommend ordering an appetizer, a pasta dish, and an entree - the true Italian way! We didn’t sample the desserts, but we saw what others ordered and it looked delicious. Definitely recommend this place, it’s a true gem of a restaurant. Also, definitely make reservations as it’s a very popular restaurant.

My experience here was phenomenal! From how we were greeted, seated, serviced, to our farewell it was all exceptional. The food was amazing! Everything you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. Highly recommended and nothing in this area comes even close to the full experience you will have here. Five stars

Excellent food. Ambiance is great. The wine selection is fantastic. Just order 1 of everything on the menu and thank me later.

Owner is not warm nor service oriented. We had a relatively large family group, and when members arrived, we were told to great them sitting down… that we couldn’t say hello standing up… no hugs allowed! Also, this was a big bill, and they added $8 bread fees, several times, it seems… which seems petty and absurd.

We lived in suburban Maryland for many years, but moved away around 10 years ago. Il Pizzico was one of our favorites years ago, and so we visited for dinner again. We were extremely pleased that the quality and service have still stayed top notch. The food was exquisite and the service was friendly and exceptional. We highly recommend this hidden jewel that appears unassuming from the outside but is absolutely stunning in every way that counts. The tomato tart for dessert was unexpectedly fabulous. We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Wonderful dinner. We went mostly for the specials at the time, probably the best choices with truly special and subtle tastes (off the menu is good too, from previous visits). Great ingredients and recipes, and cooked perfectly, without overdoing it or hiding behind heavy spices or sauces. Expensive (Trip Advisor - add another $, at least if you get the specials and for dinner), but worth it. The meal moved from one course to the other, but we did not feel rushed at all. Danny our waiter was attentive, friendly, and gave good recommendations. Apps and 1st course: We shared an heirloom tomato and sweet gorgonzola salad. Amazing. The choice of sweet gorgonzola was great. The dressing was just right. And neither the dressing nor the gorgonzola overpowered. We also shared a shrimp risotto; perfectly done (timing on risotto and shrimp is important). We each had the fish special - sea bream. Mild but tasty and flakey. Nicely done. Dessert - sorbet and carrot cake, also good. And a reasonable and good red wine recommended by Danny. Best restaurant north of Bethesda, and a contender with any Bethesda/downcounty fine dining.

The octopus appetizer was the highlight of my meal. The calamari is also a must have! Hadn't been here since COVID-19, so it was long overdue. If I could give less than 1 star I would. I was willing to give this place a try since I saw some promising reviews from others but was unable because they refused to take my take out order. I would go in to eat but the food is for my 1 year old son’s birthday since we are holding a gathering at home. What’s also ridiculous is the person on the phone was rude and had an attitude over the phone. I would not recommend this place. Not professional and horrible customer care.
