This place is a staple in Billings and so yummy. Took our daughter's for the first time and they loved the butter chicken.

Horrible food,pathetic service,being forced to pay 25% tip.loook for open item in bill that is forceful tip.when asked she could not give explanation and said after covid we made this tip rule(25%)and start arguing.item not to order butter chicken,tandoori prawn,mutter paneer was very salty,yellow dal was ok. For indian people not at all recommended. Completely hopeless.billing counter women was very quarrelsome. Indian people plz avoid she has very strong bad opinion about indian people..not at all recommended for people who are aware about authentic taste of indian food DINNER EXPERIENCE at 2000 pm with her permision ON AUGUST 07th 2024.

If this restaurant is your last resort to get good Indian meal, before heading to Yellowstone, don't even bother. Dirty sliverware, sloppy floor, small portions, stale rice just from the get go. I hope this place shuts down soon/burns to the ground.

As I often do when visiting Billings, we ordered several dishes for pickup. Overall the three lamb dishes were delicious and portions more than satisfactory. We were disappointed for three readons: 1. Forgot to order the bread basket ( our error). But it would be nice if a naan was included with each meal. 2. The veggie platter was a dud. Dry insides and greedy outside. Where was the paneer? And 3. The India Grill Bryani was on the dry side and did not have any shrimp. We will continue to eat here in fure but will be more careful of what we order.

Really bad taste in pakoda and samosa. This is not an indian authentic restaurant as it claims to be. Only thing great was chai. So stop here for a good cup of tea but not worth otherwise.

Rice was old and clumpy. Naan was stale. Saag Paneer tasted good, however. For the price we paid, certainly a big disappointment.

I can say without a doubt this is the best Indian food I have had in Billings. Is it the best I have ever had anywhere? No not even close. With that in mind it's a goud place to satisfy a craving. The staff where very friendly attending to our every need. I will go here again I'm sure.

The owner needs a lesson in customer service and hospitality. If you cannot make what the customer paid, a refund should be an option instead of random substitutions. Moreover, the attitude was unapologetic as if it's the customer's problem that they could not make what the customer paid for. They tried to be sneaky and did not even tell me about the substitutions until confronted. Their hope was that I would find out at home (this was a pick up order) The food was basic at best, the paneer dish I ordered seemed like it was made with either low quality paneer or with paneer that was not fresh. The curry itself was okay. You may want to go here considering this is the only Indian restaurant in the area, but I hope some more open so customers don't have to deal with this.

The chicken curry is so good it speaks to me in my dreams. Ordered medium spicy, it is as close to perfection as mere mortals can accomplish. The medium is still very spicy.

This is THE BEST PLACE TO EAT IN BILLINGS!! THE Butter chicken is the absolute best I've ever had. Great family that runs the place it's a 15 out of 10.

Ordered in from DoorDash. Kitchen is fast and food is pretty good. I got Curry chicken and Paneer Pakora. The curry was a little too spicy and I ordered mild. The paneer pakora was okay. The homemade cheese was not that tasty it was bland and reminded me of tofu but the breading and brown sweet sauce was very good.

The food was delicious and the service, my waitress was pretty good, But i order my son some chicken and fries and on yhe menu it says half off but when I went to pay the guy which seemed to be the boss was like "no that change all prices changed its cheaper this way for you" he walked over to the counter stated that then walked away fidnt attempt to wait for a reply or anything. And the TO-GO TRAYS are the bane of existence, stupidest choice to use, they fall over in the bag because they are skinny retangles...just strange choice if you the owner to say hey i want these ones to puss people off.

This was my first time visiting. I was first impressed with how quiet, relaxing, and welcoming the atmosphere was. Then our waitress came, and she was so sweet and friendly, it was like she was waiting on old friends rather than customers! Then there's the menu. They have almost every kind of meat (and vegetarian) dish you might want! At least eight different options each of lamb, pork, beef, chicken, shrimp, fish, and, of course, those vegetarian options. By default, their dishes are mild. However, if asked, they will spice it up for you. I ordered the Bhuna Ghost Lamb. My husband had a beef dish. Each meal comes with a side of Basmati rice, so we got one HEAPING bowl of rice! I tried some of his beef, and he tried some of my lamb. We were both happy. The lamb and beef were both so soft and tender, and the sauce was exploding with the flavors of herbs and spices! It wasn't just plain meat and sauce, though. There were vegetables in the sauce, too! And while they were well cooked, they weren't mushy. The vegetables still retained a bit of a fresh crunch. As this place is just up the road, we will be visiting more often. There are more dishes to taste. And next time, I won't forget to take pictures!

The prices on the menu are way cheaper than the prices on the bill. The manager said "well, it says on every page of the menu are subject to change." And, he was rude to me about it. Huge scam. Definitely do not recommend this place.

Very rude called to make a pickup order, didn’t get asked my name for the order and was being rushed got told to hurry up and then after I completed my order all he said was 20 minutes then hung up.

This is hands down the one of the best places in Billings. This is the ONLY place to get good Indian food for miles. It's a family restaurant so that being said it might not be for everyone. Personally I think that is what makes this place even better.

You walk in & are told to grab your own menus (which are dirty). You can sit where you want (fair enough). The waitress takes your drink order & brings them & then takes your food order. If you think when you’re ordering pakoras, naan, or pakora for an appetizer think again. They bring it with your meal. The food was ok. I had lamb tikka & my wife had chicken. The chicken was dry & hard. I rated this place as a 2 star. It’s not a fancy 5 star restaurant. I’ve eaten at the Royal India Bistro in the Rio in Vegas. It’s 4 star easy. The Star of India in Fort Collins is a 3 star. There used to be an Indian buffet in Rapid City 1 star. Did I mention the waitress never came back to refill our drinks and I had to find her to ask for our ticket?

Tried for the first fime and walked in and it was Dark and dingy inside. Food was just mediocre. Nothing special. Won't be returning.

The food is spectacular here! Never very busy in an older building that used to be a Godfathers Pizza. We have yet to have a bad experience here!

The food was alright in taste but the customer service was horrible!!!! The staffs were extremely rude!! We ordered the Indian grill non veg (2 people) dinner set. The appetizer and dessert is seriously a scam! Wouldn’t be enough for 2 people at all. At least the main course was satisfactory. The rude behavior of serving staff, the rudeness of the main manager/ owner, compulsory gratitude (tip) that we had to pay for the poor service made us have a bad experience at this restaurant. Will not be going here again!

I moved to Billings from Arizona about 5 months ago. One thing I knew I would miss were all the great Indian restaurants I had in AZ and the mango Lassi I love. Someone had told me that India Grill wasn't very good but fortunately, an Indian friend tried it and told me he liked it. I tried it tonight and it is just as good as any Indian place in Arizona! Well done Indian Grill. I had Chicken Tikka, Naan, kheer, and mango Lassi. All delicious. I'm so happy I can get my Indian food fix now! Thank you!

Cannot believe this... Eating fish curry, find a bone? Odd, kind of bendy when chewing, spit it out... It was a toenail! Absolutely REVOLTING! I've been eating here about twice a month for almost 2 years. My stomach is turning. Why could this have been some place like Applebee's and not a local business. I am completely shocked because I want to be upset for being so disgusted, but as a small business owner, my empathy is making this difficult. Sorry IG, this is too much.

This place is a danm joke. Took over an hour to get a take out order, half the food was missing and what food we did get was terrible.

We came here during lunch and were the only ones there when we showed up. We were alone for a good while to eat as well. We were a big group: 4 children, a baby and two adults. We were instructed to pick where to sit. So we chose a booth because it was the biggest option. Not big enough. We weren't offered to have a table added to fit us. We don't work there, so were not moving tables and chairs when were the customer. The lady saw we couldn't fit and didn't offer to make arrangements. The customer service was not there at all. I love Indian food but the service was poor enough that I'd think twice to come back. Also we were only given 2 rice bowls when we ordered 4 meals. I'll stick to making my own Indian food so I don't get ripped off and won't have to deal with sub par customer service.

I didn’t read any of the negative reviews, just relied on the overall score and the fact that we wanted Indian. I think we lucked out! Service was ok, hence the less than perfect rating. I always get lamb vindaloo when out at Indian establishments and I always try the other dishes that come to our table. I’ve never regretted my order, until today. Don’t get me wrong, my vindaloo was fine. My husband order chicken tikka masala, as usual. Man was I envious of his plate! It was beyond delicious!!

I am a longtime customer who discovered this place when they were still brand new and downtown at the time. The food was amazing and they had friendly service. Sadly I can't say that now. The food is all very bland now. The color, the meat, everything just says 'corner cutting.' The service is also now terrible. They are also so unpredictable and sporatic about when they are open I have given up on going, it's like they are always closed even when they say they are open!

Don’t let them fool you, this is not authentic Indian food. Go anywhere else in the world and you will see why. Mayo and tomato is what their food tastes like. Really watery, no substance, no spice. just a plain sauce with chicken chunks that carry a nasty taste. If this is all Montana knows I’m sorry.

I wish to give negative star. They served spoiled briyani and accepted it without saying anything once we ask them to smell it. They knowingly served spoiled food which is a terrible sin. Owner is a scammer who tries to bill more and changed it after we ask itemized questions. He is very arrogant and environment is dirty with unsafe kitchen.

Applicable for negative stars. The owner has so much of arrogance as if he is the only one in America. He is rude, and his behavior is worse. The menu has not correct prices on it and is outdated. The atmosphere is worse. No cleanliness. Dirty tables and chairs. Haven't reached to the food as the "welcome and ordering the food" phase was worse.

The prices in the menu are not actual prices. The server did let us know that everything is $2 extra. We agreed and ordered. The owner comes to the tabel and summons us and shows us the bill that this is what you'll be paying and then rants "WELCOME TO AMERICA" . We politely left after this weird and arrogant welcome.

The Batter on the Paneer Pakora was fermented and tasted so bad and it was not fresh. The Saag Paneer was also not good. We have tried this place before and we liked the food. That's why we came back but this time it was very disappointing.

I love the India grill. I love Indian food and have experienced it all over the world. All the Indian flavors are blended well at this spot. I highly recommend Butter chicken and whatever flavor of Naan bread one prefers. Shrimp Biryani is devine. I've only done take out, but it's always been prompt and on time. Fun service from a great Indian family.

The food was really good, however the service was extremely disappointing. Also, the rice 🍚 was enough for only one person (one bowl for both of us).

Food was mid, the resturant was pretty dirty, there were flies flying around. I got the tikki masala and it tasted decent but was lukewarm. Samsosa's seemed like they came out of the freezer along with the mint sauce. Didn't taste horrible just have had much better.

I've gone to India Grill for takeout several times since I wrote my review of the restaurant, and I always order the same dish -- lamb vindaloo. I'd love to try the other dishes, but the lamb vindaloo is just too delicious. Any gaminess that I got from the lamb the first time, has vanished. The service is great, staff is friendly, and the only thing preventing me from eating there more often are the prices -- but if you can swing it, it's well worth the cost. The night I'm editing this review, I got the India Grill Special Dinner for one person with the lamb vindaloo, very spicy, as my entree. It was the perfect portion size.

The service was shockingly rude. I tried to call in an order, then was yelled at for asking if one menu item had dairy in it (which a lot of their menu items do) and he promptly hung up on me before I could order.

The food here is decent. It’s the only option for Indian in Billings, which is unfortunate. Overall it will satisfy a craving.

Travelling cross country and being Chai functioning needed some. Let me tell you this, their Chai was pretty good! Paired it with pakodas and had ordered the chicken saag later for lunch. Will go again if I'm in the area!

Everything was real good and tasty except the paneer. It had the consistency of pencil erasers. The masala and Naan were excellent. I will try again someday and If it was a one off I will give it 5 stars.

Food is delicious!! Chicken korma or chicken curry is my favorite and my husband loves the lamb curry with some spice heat added. Must have the naan!! Onion and cilantro, cheese, or garlic and naan is all so good!

Order multiple times trying to support local business but it is very disappointing, don’t get me wrong food is tasty but I always ask for making it spicy it’s never spicy at all maybe 1 out of 10 times they will make it correct.

Seafood Masala said on the menu shrimp, lobster and one other but it wasn't squid or oysters and the dish definitely had those in it. I wouldn't have ordered it, if it did. It's all I could taste was the oyster taste. They should really put that on the menu if they're going to serve it. My friends dish was good, the Beef Banju Ghost dish. We also had the dinner combo and the price was different on the menu than what we paid. The lady said that prices went up & new menus were coming out. That's a bit deceiving. Should've honored the printed price or at least say something about it. That's all.

The food is amazing. I have had the butter chicken that melts in your mouth. I also had the beef marsala (I asked for extra spice) it had the perfect amount of heat. The meat was so tender and the sauce divine. The garlic Nan bread was also very good. I will be back to try other dishes forsure. The restaurant is very clean and the service is great!

Edit: not only is the restaurant closed to in person dining still, but they don't even answer the phone when you call. So, when are is the restaurant going to reopen to dine-in eating? Take out is fine if you need it but the price doesn't match the amount of food. The food is great but the serving size is really sad. Waiting for the buffet to reopen before I go back. Don't get me wrong either, the food is amazing and the owners are amazing and very friendly.

Billings needs a good Indian restaurant, but this is not it! I ordered Lamb Rogan Josht, but what I got was beef. Beef RJ is on the menu so they substituted. The waiter insisted it was lamb but it was not. I ordered aloo paratha, but what I got was aloo naan. Paratha is fried, naan is cooked in the tandoor. The waiter insisted that they add butter after it is cooked, and at home she fries it, but the restaurant cooks paratha in the tandoor. The dal fry was watery. No wonder I was the only customer! We desperately need a good Indian restaurant in Billings, or a least some competition.

The customer service is poor. We picked up our food and it was more spicy than we asked for them to fix it. The guy on the phone started yelling at me and my wife. He was so rude and kept saying that we were wrong. I will NEVER go back there because the guy there is so rude. He eventually did call back and offered to fix the order, which we appreciated.

Pretty good food but need to work on their customer service/ table service. Most customers do not understand that they have to order at the front counter, not at their table.

We visited twice when we visited Billings. Mr. Roger Singh (owner) was very kind to make jain and vegetarian food according to our special requests. Food was very delicious and service was excellent. We will definitely come next time. Thank you.

Very delicious and authentic Indian food. We got kalbi naan, chicken korma curry, chicken Biryani, paneer, aloo matar, lassis, lentil soups, and mango custard. Hard to pick a favorite as we all shared in the varietal bouquet of fragrant and floral deliciousness that is traditional Indian cuisine. The kalbi naan was probably the best naan I've ever had, which is a lot. The delivery was fast despite being a Saturday evening. I will definitely eat here again. Thanks India Grill!!!

Worst food, unhygienic restaurant. Owner's attitude and behaviour is like he is doing some obligation to customers. Kitchen and restaurant was so dirty i'm sure will fail cleaning guidelines and will soon out of business. Do not eat or order food from here, if you don't like to get sick.

Amazing food! Authentic Punjabi Indian fare - the Aloo Naan, achar/pickle And Lassi were so delicious. The service was equally great - they were about to close when we came in, but the owner was very accommodating, considering they were short staffed (it was just him and another lady).

Absolutely disgusting. I am unsurprised that they are short staffed given how rude the owner was. I cannot imagine anyone would work for this person. He demanded that I check my take out order before leaving and then said “don’t call here if it is wrong” Given how rude he was I didn’t want to wait around and check the order and of course it was wrong. Further, the food was awful- it smelled so bad we threw it away immediately. It smelled like body odor. I am Indian and very familiar with Indian food and this was not it.

I was there on 19th May 2022, as per hours on google, it had open sign lit on too, but no one opens the door and i called in couple times but no answer and someone waves hand from inside the restaurant that its closed. Thats just insane, if you are not open then should be clearly stated, we were travelling and had put in effort to drive there and we did rely on it. But anyways never going back. I wish I could have rated Zero stars.

I did an Uber order at 1 pm, for 4 entrees, to be delivered by 5 - 5:30. I wanted to make a change to the order, and as per Uber’s website, the change has to be done by calling the restaurant directly. I called India Grill at 3:50 pm, (they open at 4pm) and the guy that I spoke to refused to make any changes, however simple. He said that I had to call Uber…. I told him Ubers policy, and asked him 3 times for help with the change, but he refused. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Food was excellent!! Great curry! Food isn’t usually physically hot enough but if you order delivery, you can pop it in the microwave and it will be perfect. My husband called the restaurant to see if they could add carrots and to make sure we got all the naan we ordered. The said they were out of carrots and then hung up on him. When my husband called back multiple times, they ignored the call. I know I should probably give less stars for this, but it was quite entertaining and amusing. 😂😂 For a good time…call ahead with special requests.

The food here is amazing. I eat a lot of Indian food since all of it is gluten free beside the Naan bread. All of the dishes I have had from here have been very good. Their butter chicken is one of the best I ever had.

So good. We didn't know it was take out only when we walked in. But the guy said we could stay there and eat. They are very short staffed but we got our food fast and loved every bite!! I had the chicken tikka masala and my wife had chicken korma. Want more...Will be back... Maybe even order lunch tomorrow... yup... that good!

My husband ordered the lamb Tikka masala and I got the bindhi masala. It is an okra dish, not saucy but very flavorful! One of my favorites.
