I have loved this place since it’s open however, since opening the new location in White Marsh the food at the Edgewood location has went down hill! I just ordered the Rasta pasta and it had no seasoning ! I also ordered the curry chick-pea and it was over season and dry as if I was given old food. They are not cheap to be giving out this type of horrible service ! Will not be visiting again 2cd time no more chances ! Try the WhiteMarsh location ! Maybe you will get better service !

I like the food and drinks. The lady who took us in and took us to the table has an attitude. She didn't smile and didn't say hello either. The waitress is nice. The atmosphere was horrible, there's more than 5 flies flying around us while we were eating. It seems like we are outside. The temperature of the restaurant is off. The feeling of being muggy and a little air inside.

Bad experience and they harass employees and withhold pay for favors! Do not patron!!!

I thought the place was nice and I stopped there with my family. We ordered oxtail to go, but it was super salty, my kids couldn't eat it. The salt stung our throats and gave me a stomach ache. I didn't go back to complain because we were going to Virginia and couldn't waste time. Terrible food.

First off the bat, the food is delicious. We ordered Chicken Curry and Stewed Chicken. Both are highly recommended and not spicy at all. The staff were great. We forgot our credit card, and the next day, we called them, and they kept it in a safe place for us to be picked up. Amazing. I am so grateful for that. Definitely will come back here.

Island Spice sent an email announcing specials for this Jamaican Emancipation Day (August 1st), so we had to celebrate. Their own version of the Bob Marley Cocktail was refreshing. The meat pies were nice and spicy, and the goat curry and oxtail stew were perfect. Fantastic service. Happy Independence.

It was so good ! Our waiter was so nice ! The food was delicious 😋 We had the curry chicken with rice and peas and the house salmon. Everything was excellent!

The oxtails are good 👍🏼, portion size is fair. The Rasta Pasta was not too good.. it was too sweet 👎 and very little jerk chicken for that amount of money$$

First time visiting from Havre de Grace. Nice decor, clean and wonderful service. Visited Jamaica many times and this seems very authentic so far. So many things on menu we still need to try. Curry and jerk sauces very good. Drink is the Bob Marley. Jerk wings, roti, salmon bites, and lamb chops. Look forward to a return to try more menu items. Worth the trip.

This is some really really good food. I got the Jamaican Chicken Soup and the Curry Chicken. The soup was super savory and the curry chicken was tender. Definitely a new favorite.

Food was amazing! I purchased the curry chicken w/rice & peas, and I must say, as a person that's partially Jamaican (Jamerican) and from a larger city (Philly) with good Caribbean restaurants, this place has the best Caribbean food in the area!

Was here on a business trip and it was right behind my hotel. It did not disappoint. The jerk chicken was perfect. Just the right amount of spice. The rice and peas were amazing. I got the coco bread which was soft and hot and the perfect compliment to the jerk chicken. The service was great too. Can’t wait to come back and try some other things and have a drink or two. Highly recommend!

I really wasn’t impressed for the cost of the food. The food was very bland Had no flavor at all no Caribbean style oxtails almost 50 bucks for oxtail rice and peas and Coco bread and a mac & cheese This is the second time I gave them a chance last time it was Curry goat and I wasn’t impressed with that either Maybe I think it was a hit and miss but no the food is not all that great.

I came here for Happy Hour and the drinks were delicious. I wish I could remember what was ordered for me but it was extremely good. The bartender was attentive and friendly! He made the awesome drinks. I didn't order food but I tasted the greens and a few pieces of jerk chicken and it was delicious. I've always ordered my food to go but sitting at the bar was a great experience for me and I will be back for HH.

I dined on Father's Day. The service and the food was good. However the doors were open to the outside and it was hot and muggy. And with the door propped open, there was constantly too many flies flying around. There was no way the amount of flies they let enter was sanitary. To the point where I had to cover my food with a napkin

Our Server was really kind. The food was eh. The curry chicken was good. Rice wasn’t as good super dry. Plantains were super dry not fresh. Our food took like almost 40 minutes to come out.. Husband said the curry goat wasn’t bad. Just not really authentic. Presentation wise it was but i wouldn’t return unfortunately.

We stopped on our roadtrip home to Florida. Authentic DELICIOUS food. The hostess was also so sweet and friendly.

Food was excellent. Everything was cooked to order so everything arrives hot and fresh. For this reason you can not be in hurry with your order. You can have the level of spiciness adjusted to your liking. Order a drink or two while waiting. Price is very reasonable.

I ordered 2 appetizers instead of a meal. The salmon bites were excellent I loved the sauce that came with it. I ended up taking the wings home they were delicious

First time eating here and it was the perfect place for a rainy day. The oxtail was tender with just the right amount of seasoning. The brown stew chicken was just as good.

Food was good a little pricey but a decent portion. Unfortunately my takeout box was thrown away after after leaving and coming back a few minutes later for it. They didn’t offer me any compensation, the staff laughed and apologized.

We had the best time here. We tried each other's dishes and the food is so delicious! The food was so good that our group wanted to meet the chef. He came out to thunderous applause! I will definitely be going back. The server was very attentive and friendly. The bar drinks were creative but just OK. If you like jamaican food, I highly recommend Island Spice Grille!

Great jerk chicken especially with the plantains, cabbage and rice&peas which brightens it up even more. Everyone loved their food as it was flavorful and fall off the bone good. Employees were nice. Service was a little slow but it was worth it. Bathrooms were clean. Whenever we’re in the area, we try to come here- definitely recommend!

I was just passing through, staying overnight on my way home to Boston, when I searched for vegetarian-friendly restaurants and found Island Spice. It turned out to be a great choice! I started with the Bob Marley cocktail, a delightful blend of rum, coconut, and fruit juice. My entree was curried chick peas with rice and vegetables, spicy but not too spicy, and such a generous portion I had to pack up half to store in my hotel fridge. My server, Bella, was super friendly and helpful. (Though I loved the reggae music on the PA, it was too loud even for my partly deaf ears, and she had it turned down right away.) All told, a wonderful dinner for this weary traveler!

The food was great, hats off to the chef. He came out to introduce himself. The service was good thanks to our server Bella. The mananger Scott was very accommodating, friendly and funny. I will definitely go back. You guys rock!

My sister, my bestfriend and I tried this restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere was a whole vibe. The staff was friendly from the host to the waitress. Our waitress Deanna, was knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks are amazing and the food was delicious. We will be back.

This was our first time trying Jamaican food. It was absolutely delicious! If we didn't arrive as late as we did, we would have loved to try more on the menu. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. He took the time to explain the menu options.

I love this place. The food is delicious (favorites, jerk chicken, and salmon bites ), and the customer care and focus is a definite class act. We recently had a challenging experience during a ladies' night event (A FUN time and networking is always the goal that we've come to love and enjoy), and when I tell you, their quick and attentive response was top notch and second to none, it, absolutely was. I'm looking forward to visiting again. Try it! I believe you'll LIKE it.

We tasted a lot of food this day and spent quite a bit of money but it was definitely worth it!! All the food was amazing and tasted as good as it looked. We had salmon bites and jerk wings for the appetizer. Bob Marley and Jamaican Me Happy rum punch drinks. We tasted the curry chicken, escovitch red snapper and oxtails. They were very attentive, atmosphere was very good and they give a 10 percent military discount. 5/5 I would definitely come back here again and I look forward to it.

The food is really good. The selection is limited, but we were very happy with our choice (Rasta pasta with shrimp and the vegi...). If we weren't passing through, we would definitely eat here again. Even if no one knows the PW of the guest WiFi 🤭

First time going in a very long time. Service was quick, extremely friendly waitress at the bar and food was great. I had the chicken soup,house salmon dinner and carrot cake with ice cream for dessert. Would highly recommend this to anyone. A bit pricey but portions are a nice size for the price.

Big up Island Spice & Grill in Edgewood, Maryland! One Love to their consistent and incredibly flavorful Jamaican food. Their rice and peas, curried goat, braised oxtails, and jerk chicken are all top notch - the real deal, mon! Just a heads up, the portions are generous, so you might need a walk or a trip to the gym after. As a Jamaican myself, I can recognize authentic flavors, and Island Spice delivers the real thing. Though it might be a tad on the pricey side, it's worth every penny.

The brown stew chicken platter was heaven. Seasoned and cooked so nicely. I also ordered extra plantains and roti. Everything was delicious and flavorful!

Beautiful piece of work right here, they actually gave me 3 plantains this time which was much appreciated lol. Really good eats, curry chicken was amazing.

For lunch, I ordered the Jerk Chicken Salad for takeout through their website. Upon returning to work to eat, I noticed it didn't include the "Mango Vinaigrette" salad dressing. I then drove back to the restaurant, requested the "Mango Vinaigrette" (that's supposed to be included) and they gave me 2 containers labeled "SD". I drive back to work, pour the salad dressing on, only to find it's a cream based honey mustard type salad dressing and NOT VINAIGRETTE like advertised. The flavor of this dressing tastes like coleslaw and is horrible on the salad. Island Spice was a complete waste of time and money. The jerk chicken is the only reason for the 2nd star.

This is by far the best spot to get your oxtail. For the most part customer service is always on point. The portion size is worth the money. This place will not disappoint. The only issue I have is that they don't make enough beef patties. By the time I'm off work at 4, they are sold out. I tried to order earlier on Saturday but unfortunately at 230, they were not available. I do recommend Island Spice for your Jamaican food experience.

Island has the most unique flavors of Jamaican cuisine I’ve had! The chicken and dumplings soup is amazing!!! The jam jam shrimp, the peas and rice… I could go on and on! The professional service And warming atmosphere will win you over! Great job Island Spice crew!

Kiana, Scott, and others from the staff treated me like gold (shout out to Miss DeAnna)! The Ackee and Saltfish was to die for and I even got to meet and thank the cook. Excellent variety of drinks at the bar - all served with excellence and cheer. Clearly, something is going right at the top as staffers speak glowingly of the owners. Just really good juju all around:-).

I rarely give any restaurant or facility a 5 star but this place deserves it and more. As i walked up to the building I appreciated the outside sitting space for when the weather is nice. As I walked in i noticed several different sitting spaces that were designed and fitted with different decor (I like the idea of having options for taking photos and just having different vibe options). Then there’s the service. The wait staff were friendly and checked on us often. The food. Well you see the before and after… that should tell it all. For 15 dollars or about 180 cedis (Ghana) the oaxtail was plentiful, the cabbage was soft with a nice slight crunch of the carrots. The plantain was sweet and hot!!!. I enjoyed my Jamaican mule as well. I had carrot cake as well but forgot to get a pic, it was just as nice 😊. Over all I loved the food and almost licked the plate. I wholeheartedly recommend and will be back when I’m in the area.

The food was hot and tasty with hints of Jamaica, not only meeting the chef owners brother and restaurant manager that made my mother's birthday dinner an absolute treat and our 3rd time making this our favorite away from home experience!

Island Spice offered a tropical refuge on this cold, cloudy day. We were wondering if our group of 12 adults and children could be easily accommodated, but there was no problem as many area restaurants were quiet with patrons staying home to watch a big football game. We discovered that there was a private dining room just off the bar area, and both that room and the bar featured big screen TVs with preparations for the game on display. There was a simple but appropriate kids menu with chicken tenders, fries, and mac n cheese, so we ordered for the children first so they could settle in. The adults snuck some of the fries, which were nice and crispy. The traditional hibiscus drink was no longer available due to technical challenges, but we enjoyed ginger beer and bottles of Jamaica's Red Stripe Lager along with spicy beef patties as an appetizer The flaky crust was perfect. For main dishes, we had delicious choices of oxtail, jerk chicken, jerk lambchops, curry shrimp, and ginger/pineapple chicken. For sides, some chose white rice while others got rice and peas. Each dish came with plantain and a cabbage abd carrot medley. Sharing and tasting ensued. Service was attentive and helpful. This was a most enjoyable family outing.

The food is still as good as I last remembered. Jerk chicken rasta pasta was AMAZZZZZZZZING!!! Turned my mom on to this restaurant and she loved her ox tails! Prices are reasonable and they provide great service!

We found this hidden gem today and decided to try it. I was skeptical at first but, I saw many many people going in. It was pricey, we paid $62 for 2 plates/drinks. WE ATE EVERYTHING!! It was beyond delicious. I WILL be returning. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. If I could give 10 stars, I would!!!

All of the food we ordered was excellent. Hot and fresh. Tariq Z. Was an excellent server. Manager Zoe was very attentive. We will definitely be back with some of our neighbors from Bayberry South (Delaware).

Horrible service. Placed order on doordash only to have several dashers come to the restaurant and leave due to our order not being ready. Tried calling, no answer and went to voice-mail which was full. We wasted 2 hours waiting for our food that never came. We will never order from there again.

My favorite Caribbean restaurant. Same great taste everytime, great service at the same time. That Hennessy punch is my drink of choice.

Great customer service. The chicken soup is my FAVE when they have it. Authentic! Great selection of drinks although, the drink I had was on the weaker side. There was live music the evening I went. Happy hour from 5pm-7pm. The oxtails were good & tender. Automatic gratuity added when you dine in.

I absolutely love this place. The food is always delicious no matter what I try. I will say though, I was a little disappointed during my most recent visit because they must’ve change the carrot cake vendor. The carrot cake used to taste homemade with pineapple and golden raisins😋🤤 but now it taste like any old carrot cake you buy from the grocery store.

This place has changed so much. The food was overcooked. Rice & peas were mushy, cabbage was soggy and the jerked chicken wings were over cooked. Found out that the restaurant is under new management (explains why). My last time eating here. I will NEVER come back.

Last night my family and I celebrated my twins’ 25th birthday at Island Spice Grille. We originally had reservations for the dining room, but as our party had grown beyond a certain number, the gentleman manager personally mad it a point to upgrade us into a private room, which was very elegant and personable, & just perfect. We had a really enjoyable time. We were able to celebrate my twins without being rushed, or having to worry about being too loud or disturbing other guests within the restaurant. The food taste great and not a single order was incorrect in any way. The staff even held our cake in the back until we were ready for it. Then, at the perfect time, our cake we brought in, and even sang a super cool happy birthday song to the birthday “boys.” The entire staff actually lit, sparkling candles, and excitedly clapped & marched into the room. I mean they rolled in on a cart, the cake, napkins, cake slicer and plates and utensils to serve the cake right to our guests. Also, not to mention our gentleman server, who was also the general manager was so professional, courteous, friendly, and relatable. He was prepared ahead of time, & organized upon our arrival. He served us as if we were the only guests in the place, from start to finish. The owners even came in to greet us. My family and I are ever so grateful, & thankful to the owners and the managers and all of the staff that assisted in making this a very special 25th birthday for my boys, may God bless and keep you all… Thank you so very much!

Sorry but this is NOWHERE NEAR NOTHING CLOSE TO BEING GOID Jamaican food. Staff was wonderful though. Knew it would be bad when I ordered a Pina Colada and there was no coconut in it. The salmon bites were delicious but that was it. Nothing else was good.

I'm a regular at this point :) .. I've been twice to dine-in and several times for take-out. Always satisfied and impressed with my meal and the great service. Also love the live music and the overall atmosphere.

Just went here on a work trip. Food was great, I had the jerk chicken and portions are very big. They got too many things wrong though: the bartender confirmed that drinks would be discounted under happy hour, but I was charged full price anyway. 18% gratuity was included on the bill which is a high floor (2 people in our party, they post it up front that gratuity is included on your bill), but service was very slow. The bartender had to cover half the restaurant including our table. He was nice but we probably spent half the time waiting.

Went to Konoko a few weeks ago and enjoyed the experience so much. Our waitress told my friend and me that Island Spice was under the same ownership and had pretty much the same menu and no reservations were needed. We decided to try Island Spice and were not disappointed! I had the ackee and saltfish with rice and peas with plantains, my friend had the oxtail rice and peas with plantain. The portions were large, food was hot and flavorful. The drinks were great and the atmosphere was laid back. The waitstaff was also very attentive. I will definitely be back here.

what a great experience for our first time here.Scott and Shanika gave my husband and I really great service . We love this place. The hospitality is better here then Konoko. I had a bad experience at konoko for my first time. We will be returning to Edgewood in the future.

Everything was good up until my stuffed salmon came out . After just taking a few bits of it I explained to my server that my portion of salmon wasn't fresh and had a bad taste to it and was sent back . I guess my server figured since I ate the cabbage and crab meat on my plate ( which was good ) asked if i wanted to take the salmon home with me instead. So I explained again that the fish is bad and No. After which I asked if it would be possible to make an adjustment to my bill considering the fish was foul. But my server was not able to accommodate any bill adjustment and I was left with a " you touched it its yours attitude ". After that I wanted to snatch every bit of that 18% gratuity of that servers check.

Our family day and I decided to have dinner at Island spice. Best decision ever. Drinks were great, appetizers great, and food delicious. Our waitress, Bella, was great with making recommendations and sharing the happy hour menu, pointing our restaurant favorites, and spice levels. While it was not my husband's or my first time it was my brother and girls, Bella made sure it would be memorial Price isn't too high

We’d been planning to check it out for some time and finally did yesterday. WOW. Just wow! Starting from our server/bartender Tia who was so friendly and fun, gave us recommendations on what to try, it being our first time. The bar beverages were amazing, and the food.. oh my! We had the Jerk Wings for a starter, the Ackee & Saltfish, and Curry Shrimp for an entree. Tried the coco bread and Mac n cheese on the side, and indulged in some carrot cake and rum cake for dessert. All of it was fabulous! We were also greeted by the floor manager Scott, who gave us detailed description of how some of the foods are made and the time that goes into the recipes. All the more reason to try EVERYTHING on the menu. We look forward to returning soon!
