It is beyond me why some of the best Mexican food I've ever had is located in this part of the world but here we are. Very nice service with amazing food. I get the Southside which is a burrito with queso on top, it's incredible. The queso is quite good but honestly I don't think you can go wrong.

This place is amazing. Best Mexican food around, heck some of the best food in general. Will definitely be stopping by again soon.

The hostess/bartender on Saturday night is so pretty

TERRIBLE What is going on here? One group at one table in the dining room on a Saturday afternoon. 20 other empty tables. We are given the smallest table in and around the corner. Ten minutes before our server shows up who makes a laughing noise before everything he says. He had zero ability to interact, it's as if he didn't know where he was. We ordered our food and an appetizer which he seemed confused about. He didn't ask if we wanted drinks but suggested / asked if water would be OK? We ordered a water and a soda. Drinks arrived in small glasses with very limited ice. Maybe 10 ounces of liquid. Appetizer arrived and the queso was very thin but maybe that's how they make it; it's not for us. Food arrived without mention of the additional item I ordered. That item showed up a couple mins later but we had asked the girl who delivered the food for drink refills; she was not OK with us asking her. Drinks were awkwardly granted to us. The waiter did not return even to give us the bill. I had to go to the bar where he was sitting looking at his phone. He was surprised and weirdly asked if we wanted boxes. We wanted one, he weirdly reached behind something and grabbed two. I handed him my card which he was puzzled by. He finally returned with the reciepts to sign but it was awkward. I almost never don't tip. This was one time when I did not. There was no service. Food was probably hot enough to be safe but no hotter.

The food is amazing and the service is top notch. If you're looking for great Mexican food this is the place

The place is a very nice place: Clean, well ventilated with a very nice AC; every were that we looked we could see cleanliness. Well decorate, and the Bathrooms, very, very clean. The young fellow that was tending our table would come back often to see if we needed anything else. The food is good, with generous portions. Customer service was exceptional.

Friendly staff & excellent food. Definitely worth another visit.

Very good food. However you are charged a significant amount of money individually for each sauce that you ask for. $2.00 for sauce Verde, $2.00 for sour cream, $4.50 for a side of guacamole…it adds up. Ordered takeout with a few friends for lunch. Brought the order back to the office and found that none of the sauces that we ordered were in the bag. Called and asked them to either deliver the sauces to me (I only have a 1/2 hour lunch) or remove the $10.50 charge from the credit card. They said they were too short staffed to deliver to us, and that they needed to have the card in hand in order to process the refund. Was annoyed and too busy to take another half hour out of my day to run back to the restaurant. Sadly this soured me on a restaurant that I used to enjoy. Won’t be going back.

Everything was delicious, spicy bean dip, spicy shrimp chicken , excellent waitress and waiters.

This place is always consistent and the employees are amazing here! Will continue to come back many more times.

Got the spicy bean dip and it was the BEST bean dip. Not very spicy but absolutely delicious. The chicken chimichanga was packed full of chicken, the rice and sauce were phenomenal too. Will definitely be going back

The best Mexican restaurant in the Scranton area for sure! All the food was fresh. The staff was super nice and accommodating! Everything came out quickly. Prices were pretty fair. Definitely will return to this spot!

Excellent large amount of food with nice friendly service. Seating was a little tight but understand why with the line going out the door to come in. Food is so good people don't care to wait.

Best burrito & queso I ever had! Great service too!

Italos is my absolute favorite restaurant hands down. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The service is outstanding even with a packed restaurant. I was there today for my birthday and while they were packed to the brim, they still managed to provide excellent service and the food was absolutely incredible. They sang me Happy Birthday and let me wear the awesome Sombrero. I can’t recommend them enough!

Italo's is a local family owned Mexican restaurant. For many, including myself, it is the *best* Mexican restaurant you can go to in NEPA. The location is in South Scranton, and parking can be hard to find. I often get take out, (Tinga is the best meat choice!) they use a number - so make sure you take note on the phone! Dine-in is always an enjoyable time, and a great place to take friends or family for a night out. It is also very much reasonably priced. 10/10 recommend.

One of my absolute favorite places. Their portions are huge, the food is amazing, the staff is so incredibly friendly and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking or have authentic Mexican food. It is simply delicious.

The food was amazing. It was the closest you can get from food in Mexico, I walked in with the bar real low because I’ve had bad Mexican food in Texas but this place really took me by surprise. The songs were all bangers, all Mexican hits and really set the mood when you wanna relax at the bar or sit with the family. As to the service, it was good, my waitress was not friendly but definitely not rude. I really don’t mind it, but I can see someone be upset about it. All in all. A new favorite spot in the country.

Restaurant is very busy but service is good and fast. Food is tasty and authentic. Wide variety of options to choose from, including fish, meat and meatless entrees, delicious salads, and good deserts. Signature cocktails to wash it all down with. I do think there should be more meat in the burritos (especially the "Southside "). There is too much rice, and I had to search to find the small amount of tomatos in the burrito. I go often, both dine in and take out. They have never screwed up a take out order for me, and they are usually spot on with the pick-up time. Parking can be problematic at times as it is all street parking, no private lot. You can usually find something within a 2 block radius. Only a problem when it's bitter cold or raining. Like many and most restaurants presently, they print tip amounts on the bottom of your check to choose from - 15%, 20%, 25%, or an option to calculate your own. What I question is why when restaurant owners do this (and they all do this, not just this restaurant), they calculate the percentage of the tip based on the entire bill after tax has been added! Why should consumers tip on the tax that was added? I'm not being cheap, I tip according to the quality of food and service rendered and then base it on the dollar amount I spent to get said food and service. Doesn't seem fair to include the tax in and then give the percentages based on that total. Unfortunately, it seems to be SOP for all restaurants presently, and I wonder why the general public hasn't questioned this.

Even got take out during COVID, and they were remodeling the restaurant and they accommodated us. Our order was ready and they were very friendly 🙂 Highly recommended 👌

Ordered stuffed poblano peppers. That is nowhere near what I got I expect poblano peppers stuffed with cheese.

The bar tender and the doña is super friendly! It gets busy and you have to wait. Highly recommend the fajita platters and the shrimp and chicken fiesta with or without jalapeños if you don't like spicy.

I was just at the restaurant , Make it make sense that u would order an salmon fajita dinner and it's so salty. They re- did the dish , but now absolutely no seasoning. I Insisted on going there tonight and I was completely let down. Absolutely no more italos for me ever, again. And to think that I would send me clients there, radther to other Mexican restaurants. I said no u must go there. They are great , but the way I was treated by the owner tonight was applauding. I was completely taken but by the lack of customer service. I will never go back , and I will never tell any of my clients to go there.i will tell them NOT to go there any more. Horrible service tonight. I won't just write them off because of one service, but because of the way I was treated as if it was my fault . The fajitas was salty, then they choose not to put any seasoning on. So that's not a fajita. Never again, Will they see me, or my people. I am done . Lousy customer service. I am so disappointed, my friend wanted to do take out and Insisted that I had to have their fajita tonight. Nop didn't happen. Terrible, terrible, terrible, and rude, rude,. rude

Came here based on reviews. Expected more with the great reviews. Food was ok. Waitress didn’t tell us about $5 margaritas - heard her tell another table. Chicken fajita was a bit chewy.

Went with a group of 10. We had one waitress that did really well with all the drinks and food. Place was pretty busy but there wasn't a long wait for anything and the food was good. Will definately be back

Food and atmosphere were terrific. The reason for the 1 star review is the fraudulent gratuity charge for $35 that appeared on my credit card after leaving a 20% cash tip. Beware. Check you statements.

Excellent selection of large portioned entrées. Staff worked well, no issues, food was out in just a few minutes. Looking about the dining room, several others were also filling take-out/leftover boxes. We will return.

First time here, service was excellent. Best service I have had in a while! Waitress made it fun and welcoming. Food was great. I use to travel 25 minutes to get food this good. I’m glad I will no longer have to do that. We got lollipops at the end of our meal which was a complete surprise and made our night! Loved it here. Definitely will be back.

Fantastic restaurant. Super affordable and great food. My friend and I were passing through Scranton and figured we'd give it a try. I got a burrito and my friend got mole enchiladas. The burrito was gigantic and and enchiladas looked fantastic. If I lived here, I'd be a regular here.

We are constant customers. For at least 4 to 5 meals. I ask each time for 2 or 3 slices of LIMES . We were once again told no because they can't charge us. I am very disappointed as this was one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. I felt that they treated us poorly. For a $70.00 order surely you could have found 2 slices of LIMES that I had no problem paying for. Instead you made us feel uncomfortable. A Corona comes with a lime. Not a huge ask.

Excellent food and service, huge portions, moderately priced. The restaurant has plenty of seating, a nice bar area, and is kept spotless. A pleasant experience...will definitely be back.

Once a month, I drive from New York City to visit Scranton and make sure I stop at Italo’s for dinner. I’ve recommended the restaurant to everyone I know because they are so fantastic. However, I was a little disappointed tonight. When I ordered my usual huarache and asked for chorizo in it, the waitress said it only came with shrimp. So I pointed to the menu and asked “are you sure? It says that the huarache comes with a choice of meat.” She apologized and put the order in to the chef, but later returned with a burrito. I asked her if she got the order wrong because it looked like a burrito, and I proceeded to show her a photo of a huarache from Google (because it is visibly different from a burrito). She told me that the dish I received a huarache, so I just ate a few bites of it because I did not want to waste the food. However, I was then charged $17 for an entree that I did not order and barely ate, which is even more expensive than what I had ordered originally. The manager did adjust the price once I spoke up again, but the service was a little disappointing this visit. Overall, the waitress was sweet and it was a mistake, but I wish when she said “I’ll go ask the chef,” she actually had done that rather than disappeared until it was time for the check.

Outstanding! I had the veggie lover-but-fully-vegan burrito for lunch today and I still am full. Literally so good and full of fresh fluffy flavorful rice, beans, and so much fresh limey green guacamole. Will have this every time I visit Scranton. Amazing salsas too. A damn good burrito. Thank you to my friend Peter for bringing us here.

We've enjoyed Italo's on several occasions and thought it would be a great place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We were right. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, and the food was prepared nicely. It took us awhile to get our meals, but took into consideration that it was a special day. I had the Gorditas with carnitas which were very filling. My husband had the Steak Quesadillas which were excellent! I had a traditional Margarita which was so good and my husband tried a Mexican beer that he hadn't had before. Everything was to our liking - the atmosphere, the food, and the prices.

Today was my first time coming here. Food was alright. Waited a whole hour to get my appetizer, even longer to get my entree. Everybody else that arrived after me got their food within 15mins, but my table. Not worth the hype.

Waitress was very nice . I think her name was Marie or maria. The lady who sits you has a nasty facial expression, but other than that, it was great.

You Need To Know? Arrived around 5:30 on a Friday night & it was hopping. We were able to get a seat immediately. We ordered the Sope, a mojato chicken burrito, chilaquedos Pavel, donas bowl, and beverages. The food was delicious, we all agreed some of the best Mexican dishes in this area. The portion sizes were amazing & the prices were very fair. Not one person was able to even finish there dish. The salsa was freshly made as well! Definitely worth a visit! Now You Know!

Had take out many times and the food was always good. Was tonight too but the service was awful. It was a not very busy Tuesday night. Very slow for anyone to come to the table. Ordered drinks and asked for water. Got the wrong drink no water. Finally another server asked if we needed refills. Finally got a water after 45 minutes. Not a very friendly waitress when she finally did come around.

Wanted something different and non chain restaurant that was great. I decided to ask our waiter what he likes and how he likes it and that's what I got. It was terrific!....and I had something I haven't ordered before in my meat selection. Burritos are huge, kids meal was perfect size, and tostadas were really good to boot.
