Food was pretty good but the waitress never asked how. Food was never asked if we needed drinks nothing. The food runner was more of a server. I'm not gonna be rude and say names but she needs to step her game up. Literally had to hold cups in the air to get her attention.

The food never disappoints and our service is always good. Favorite servers are Mason and Nora!

Stopped in on Sunday and they had Happy Hour. Service at the bar was very good and had to wait a long time for our oysters.

Overall it was a good meal. Food was good but not the best I've had. Waitress was attentive and made sure we had what we needed.

Good place to eat friendly people

Atmosphere was ok, service was just ok, but who in the world told JD Shuckers that cheddar grits should be sweet??? This was terrible! Totally terrible shrimp and grits. My husband had the fisherman’s platter and the shrimp were over fried and the fish was not fresh at all..in a town close to the beach? Total letdown. So disappointed.

We have been going here for years and years so I hate to have to write this not so stellar food review. In particular the soft shell crab sandwich. Previously the sandwiches had a nice size soft shell crab on it with the claws sticking out the of the bun. But when advertised as a jumbo soft shell crab sandwich, it was anything but. In fact I wonder how they were even able to catch these tiny things legally. I didn't really even see any legs and claws but it was so tiny it was well within the edges of the bun. The taste was good as they did allowed it to drain properly and did not serve it full of grease, but come on, for $20 this thing was very tiny. I wish I took a picture . I hope somebody there reads this and makes a correction because I love their burgers and everything else there including the fried and raw oysters. Looking forward to an improvement next time or that will be my last soft shell sandwich. 😔

I basically never leave reviews especially negative ones. I was a server for many years so I hate to give them an hard time. So, take this as a very honest review. First, atomsphere is pretty bad. Super crowded but worse than that incredibly loud. Like you can’t hear yourself talk. Second, service is ok. Very friendly young wait staff but they are so harried we didn’t get plates, we had to ask multiple times for silverware. Finally, given all that I would have been fine if the food was any good at all. Soft shell crabs expensive as hell- flat burnt discs of salty crab. Seafood Alfredo also expensive as hell- salty gummy yuck. Oysters— they are named for oysters. 3 out of 12 were literally inedible. Wings— meh. Burger— ok. Pomegranate margarita— delicious and huge. Really skip this place unless you’re going for drinks and a burger. Don’t touch the seafood.

Stopped for dinner on Sunday with a group of 7 and were pretty disappointed with the food. We had good experiences previously but the quality has just gone downhill and the last few times we’ve eaten here we’ve left disappointed. Our server and all the staff we encountered were great, super friendly, but most of what we ordered was either underwhelming or just not good at all. Our party ordered oysters, fried and grilled scallops, mac and cheese, wings, short ribs, a turkey burger and the buffalo chicken sandwich, all with various sides. We always prefer to support local businesses over chains but after the last few underwhelming experiences and the variety of other great non-chain restaurants in the area, I don’t think we’ll be back.

The waitress was awesome! Nothing against her, but I have never had worse food when eating out. Was there 7/14/24, and spent around $90 after the tip.

I ordered online and brought it back to where we were staying. I ordered broccoli and got green beans without any questions or explanations. I ordered my steak rare. It was somewhat pink in the middle, but not juicey and no blood. My husband took advantage (so he had hoped) of the prime rib special. He ordered his medium rare. It was overcooked and too hard/tough to eat. It looks better i. The picture than it did in real-life. The coconut shrimp were very good! They were plump, and the coconut batter was nicely crisp. The mashed potatoes and the stewed tomatoes were also very good. My husband and our dogs liked the green beans. We thought that we would return here this week to try other tantalizing things on their menu. But after that disappointing prome rib, we have decided not to return. Bummer!

Delightful local watering hole with great, fresh seafood. Good drinks, better service and always consistent. Walkable from a few neighborhoods if you’re local or near live creek. Would recommend!

The food was delicious ! The stuffed flounder and cucumber salad are the die for ! The mashed potato’s were bit salty but good

Traveling back from New York we stumbled upon this place and were pleasantly surprised this out of the way gem that will added to our list of great finds. We had the stuffed flounder and the tuna and both were delectable. The staff were very courteous, helpful and polite. We'll definitely return with the crew.

Fun place with fantastic food. Joe and Tommy behind the bar are a trip, and make you wanna come back just to hang out with them.

I never leave reviews but this place was horrible. I really wanted to love JD shuckers it’s so close and convenient. We gave it two tries and both left my family feeling underwhelmed. We had raw oysters, they only had one type of local oyster. The person shucking had no idea what they were doing.Our oyster were mutilated, not cleaned and the membrane still attached. I had the fish tacos both tacos were wet and soggy and the fish was MUSH! My husband had a burger, it was plain no flavor not even salt or pepper, and WAY over cooked. The only decent part of the meal was my kids chicken fingers and Mac and cheese. Keep in mind they are two and three and will eat dirt. To finish off this awful experience we did not receive silverware or napkins. We left hungry and $118.00 in the hole. God speed

Great food and reasonable prices for the amount of food. Some items are definitely better than others. Be prepared to get mediocre service every once and a while but overall great.

I think this is a breastaurant. The teenager girls working there were all wearing shorts that resembled bikini bottoms more than actual shorts. The ambiance is lovely and the few things I could eat as a vegetarian were alright. The server acted like our presence was a bother however, had 0 menu knowledge and seemed in a hurry to get back to hanging with their friends who worked there. The potential is there but this ain't it.

The food is good but the upbeat hardworking staff that keeps smiling is 5 stars in itself.

We just had a great meal. Our server, Karly was so welcoming and friendly. The food was very fresh and done properly. Their mac and cheese was one of the best I've ever had in a restaurant. The dining room is very clean and well maintained. We'll definitely be back. Thank you, Karly!

Went here last night around 8pm for dinner. Ordered the captains platter and an appetizer. The appetizer came and was good. The captains platter came and WOW what a joke that was. 2 Shrimp 2 small oysters and 1 real small piece of fish. All fried. Looked like the stuff came from Sysco's. Worst meal I have had in a while. Side was tater tots. had more of them on plate than anything. So my wife complained to the waiter. Which he was very understanding. He got his manager. She was same way very nice. She asked what she could do to make this right. So she threw a piece of cheesecake in to help. Here is my whole problem the check came and the bill came to $107.00 for 2 of us. I left a $20 tip. Which he earned. Was nothing fresh about this meal. Wont be back

My wife and I stopped past after shopping in Millsboro, DE. She had the fish and chips, and I had the prime rib dinner.

After moving to Florida about 2 years ago one of the things we miss is the Great food and staff at J D Shuckers of Lewes. We were a staple on Thursday nights to enjoy the entertainment of Sol Knoff and of course food and staff. On a recent weekend trip back of course I had to enjoy Saturday night dinner at J D Shuckers. The cream of crab soup and steak and shrimp dinner was wonderful. Thanks for a Great time until my next visit.

Some friends got together and all 3 if us had a delicious meal and great service!

First timer friend invite to Prime Rib night. Got there at opening 4pm so no crowds. Atmosphere clean, lay out good, sound deadening if crowded non exist (if you are into sports bar places) Food very good Prime Rib did not melt in my mouth but more like a steak you had to go at it a bit but overall flavor good. Garlic mashed potatoes wonderful, was able to sub out green beans for creamed spinach 👍. Ordered iced tea, terrible like the pot had not been cleaned just bad tasting ordered a coke instead. Would go back again but would as I said avoid busy times because you probably would have a time trying to hear the other people with you.

Wonderdul atmosphere and great food, and the daily specials are scrumptious.

When I walked in and asked about gluten free options and the hostess made a face like there wasn't anything there,I should have left. When my server made almost the same face I really should have left I was able to get a burger with no bun and fries (shared fryer is ok with me). It served a purpose in terms of feeding me but I definitely won't be back.

I ordered the French Dip sandwich with mashed potatoes. I wasn't a fan. The meat was thick and had several grizzled sections. When the waiter brought out the food so much of the au jus sauce splashed outside the container, the entire bottom of the sandwich was soaked and, therefore, soggy. After adding some butter, the mashed potatoes were good. The serving was large enough that I brought most of them home. I had heard the fish and burgers were good, so if you go pick one of those.

Like many restaurants near days after covid, it's very difficult to find any restaurant that can provide enough staff. This is true with my last visit, but everybody was kind and apologetic. Quality of food was worth the wait. I recommend this restaurant highly.

Very disappointed. Left before we got our entrees. Soup and appetizer came out fast however we waited at minimum 45 minutes after for our dinner. We gave up! Never did get our entrées Paid for what we ate and left. Staff and manager could care less. Will never go back there. I'm in the business and Run a large restaurant. This was unacceptable. I'd give ZERO stars if I could.

Great food that was not over-priced. It had a very good atmosphere with a live musician. He had everyone singing with him.

Food was OK. Crab cake sandwich needs less bun. Bun took away from taste of crab cake. Crab cake on its own was GREAT.

Best oysters, fried n half shell. Awesome steamed middle necks . Great crabcakes. Fish tacos above average. Preston our server was top notch n was outstanding with our diverse party of 6. Ask for him when you go. He was on spot ! Which makes your meal even more enjoyable. Will definitely be back. Drunken mussels not so great. It happens. Overall a great time.

Best chicken tenders around - they offer beer flights, bar style burgers and a fantastic seafood bar. Don't forget to get desert the raspberry crepes are awesome.

Tried soft-shelled crabs, was not great. They offered to swap to something else and make me happy. This was awesome service. Got the grilled scallops... O.M.G. highly recommend 👌 Definitely a great place!

I happened to go on a Thursday, and it was oyster night. The raw oysters were on special and delicious. We also enjoyed their crab balls too. Looking forward to our next visit

It’s always a great time when coming to Jd’s. Food is always great and the raw bar is phenomenal.

Menu is very limited. No catch of day to offer. Service was good. Food was ok. Just extremely disappointed in menu compared to Georgetown location. Would hope they expand there menu to more closely reflect selections available in Georgetown.

Food was great and quick ( about 1/3 full). Posters and soft shell can was great!

Oysters were great. My coleslaw and green bean sides were also great. However, I got the crab stuffed flounder. The sauce was great, and the flounder was okay. The crab inside was completely unseasoned, full of shells, and cold. I couldn't finish it. $28 entree half wasted. Service was okay.

Been there in the past and it was very good. Had dinner there 2 days ago food was not as good. Had the crab cake and had absolutely no crab or seasoning taste. Friend had steak and it was overdone. Service was excellent, atmosphere was fine.

Tonight was an off night for this place. My fried shrimp was over cooked. Both main entres were cold except for the string beans. The flounder stuffed with crabmeat was very disappointing in taste, size as well as cold.

Went to Georgetown Del for a gymnastics competition. Stopped in for dinner with the entire family. Waitress said about a half hour wait. Gave number they would text or call. Waited outside well over the time, ask about table. They forgot about us. Family of 9 standing right outside with kids. Get Seated in a crapped circle booth. Really?empty tables that just needed to be cleaned. Its okay we are a close family and hunger we will deal. Waitress comes we order. Forgetful waitress or not sure what everytime we order something forgot something. A drink with drink order, a cup of soup with apps. A dinner with dinner. Order dinner takes order, she returns they are out of almost everything. We change our orders. Food comes out. Well all the meals but one. Horrible we should of just threw $250.00 in the trash. Keep in mind none of us drink alchole most ordered water with lemon. Of course out of lemons. Mahi mahi was like dried up chicken. Scallops. Dried up not even the size of a quarter 6 on the plate for 26 dollars. Crazy. French onion soup was really good. So if you do go here. Save yourself the money and headache. Just order off the kids menu, French onion soup and water but do not expect a lemon.

Just came from eating at Shuckers in Lewes. Service was very spotty. My guest asked for a salad without dressing but her order had dressing on it.Normally it would not be a concern but she has dietary restrictions. It seemed out waiter was more concerned with regular-than us. Numerous times I had to hunt out our waiter to get our drinks. I was very embarrassed because I recommend Shuckers. I definitely appreciate how short staffed the restaurant is, however, we were paying customers. We wanted to have another rounds of drinks, but just couldn’t wait that long for service. We left. Our son is a chef, so we totally respect the service industry, it takes a lot to leave a bad review, but just show some attention to new customers.

Only had downstairs bar was open during happy hour. The bar was full, and they won't honor HH specials to all tables, unlike others in this area.

Food and service were very good. Nice atmosphere. But, they don't take reservations. We had a party of 11 and had to wait over an hour because there is only one table capable of accommodating a large party and a party of 6 had just arrived and been seated.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Stopped in for dinner and a drink, service was horrible the bartender first poured us well liquor, once noticed, we tried to stop him and instead of correcting it he proceeded to tell us we suck and serve the well liquor and charge us for patron. Would not recommend and will not return.

I usually don't leave reviews but 6 of came in for the prime rib dinner. We ordered 1 round of patron and a few appetizers. The server proceeded to pour well tequila. We stopped him and told him we ordered patron. He proceeded to serve us the shots he poured thinking we didn't see. At this point we asked for out bill and payed. We politely told him we are being charged for patron and he told us "we suck" and walked away. Worst experience ever.

Went there for our 4th year anniversary

So, the prime rib currently on Tuesday nights is bumpin'. Popular with the 50+ crowd on Tuesdays as well.

The crab cake was good, green beans and coleslaw good also. J D Shuckers has improved in quality of food.

The blackened Mahi tacos and fresh green beans were yummy.

This place is a dump. I went to have a beer and watch the end of a football game because we had problems with the TV at home and this was close to home. They said it was past closing time when I arrived. There were clearly people still sitting and watching the game. I replied that I did not need to eat or drink but would like to sit on a stool and watch the very critical college game. They said "sorry" and said I could not watch, even as it was on the televisions as we spoke. Never again for me or my neighbors. I did forget to try to bribe the waitresses. I guess that was my mistake.

Locals joint with steamed seafood, raw oysters and sports on the TV's. Sat in front of the man who does the steaming and shucking of the oysters at the bar and watched him sneeze on the raw oyster order of half dozen right in front of me at the bar and I froze! Wish I had stood up and alerted someone!

A-MAZING food and service!! My parents recently relocated from the Philly area to Lewis and they now live right up the street! Each time we visit this is a must have for dinner!! The servers and mgt team are excellent! My only complaint is the prices are a bit high but if you want quality you have to pay for it! Try the cream of crab and the fresh green beans!! Amazing!!
