Clean, consistent, fresh & DELICIOUS. Workers are pleasant and kind. My new favorite spot for a quick lunch/sandwich. Their bread is also to die for!! Looking forward to trying other food options here.

Found this place today. A great little spot on young circle and walking from downtown Hollywood. They specialize in Peruvian Sandwiches but have so much more. Bread is baked fresh on premises! After sitting down to eat, we saw that Guy Fieri also reviewed this place and recognized how great it is. We met the owner Marco who was super friendly and owns it with his brother. Great to support local family owned places. A really fantastic spot. Don’t miss out. Plenty of parking as well!

Top line: some of the best empanadas and Peruvian chicharron sandwiches of all time. The name undersells this place. It’s also in a nondescript location. You could easily walk by and miss it, or think that it was a local Subway. And you’d totally miss out. Tucked into this small, clean space is a wonder of empanada excellence. I had both the carne and pollo. The names evoke the familiar but the tastes transcend them. The fillings are the stars and they are scrumptious. Binge-worthy. I’ve always preferred croquetas and these empanadas change my calculus entirely. I’ve never had anything like them. And then there is the chicharron sandwich. First, they bake their own bread. And it’s outstanding. At first I thought it was too much bread. But it’s so light and airy with such a satisfying external crunch it’s as if it’s not there, allowing the ingredients to shine through. The pork was delicioso and the vegetables and citrus marinade were amazing. If you’ve had a great banh me sandwich you’re in the ballpark of textures and flavors, but this creation blows the best of those away. Everything here is homemade from what are clearly the best ingredients. And the owner and his brother are passionate about making great food. Absolutely, unconditionally, five stars.

This place absolutely lived up to the hype. My wife and I decided to visit after watching the Triple D episode, and it exceeded our expectations. The owners are incredibly welcoming, happy to explain the menu and make adjustments to your order. The freshly baked bread was out of this world, and the chicharrones were juicy and packed with flavor. I even gave the Chicha, a purple corn drink, a try and was pleasantly surprised. I can see myself coming back here often.

I always feel so catered to when I come to this restaurant. The staff is so attentive, and the quality of the food is top tier. Yes, it is on the pricey side, but it's not without reason—the quality of the food truly matches the price, in my opinion. The portion sizes are perfect unless you have a large appetite, which is understandable because when the food is this good, you're never going to feel like you've had enough! I live in Tampa now, but every time I'm in town, I make sure to stop by. It's the least I can do for myself. They’ve set a really high standard for Peruvian cuisine, and every time I go to a different Peruvian restaurant, I’m often disappointed because it’s never as good as J28. Also, I love supporting a family-owned business that upholds authenticity and great customer service, which seem to be increasingly rare these days. I hope to see this restaurant's continued success for many years to come.

Place is small, not really a place to eat in. Staff is friendly. The food was good, not great. Servings could be bigger. Simple place with simple menu. Ok

🔥 VERY BAD!! I ordered a sausage for my wife, I asked them not to put too much onion and they gave me pure bread with a small piece of meat! 🤦🏻👁️ if they charge such an expensive minimum they should give a good service! This place used to be good, and I see several people who are complaining! I hope they change for the better! 👁️

Cannot say enough good things. This was one of the best meals that we had on our trip. We always like to check out DDD restaurants when we travel and this was no exception. The flavors in the chicharron were fabulous and it was delicious!

Visiting J28 Sandwich Shop after 8 years, felt like returning to a familiar place. The service and food were great, giving a true taste of Peru. The pork sandwich is a must-try, and don’t skip the delicious Passion Fruit mousse. Definitely recommended for anyone craving a tasty adventure.

You gotta try the Chicharron Pork Belly Sandwich. We just can’t forget about the flavor profile of this marinated pork belly on a roseta roll with sweet potatoes. Plus, they top it off with pickled red onions, need I say more?

This place is a hidden gem in Hollywood. Excellent food made with love. Anything on the menu is amazing, but I get the chicharron sandwich and empanadas.

This is specialty place. Don’t come here expecting more of the same. This is a peruvian sandwich shop, where aside from the regular peruvian sandwiches they create authentic peruvian food “in a sandwich”. Been here many times but never did a review so here it is. Today I found they now make organic chicken or pork tamales on Saturdays and Sundays. Totally recommend the place and talk to the owners, they are always there and are very friendly. They’ll explain every dish with passion.

We had a great dinner here. The service was amazing. The drinks were the best in the town.

Friendly and extremely talented staff took the time to walk us through several options of food they recommend. There’s a variety of ways they serve each dish (sandwich, salad, etc) but we stuck to empanada and smoothies. The chicken empanada was my favorite and the smoothie was delicious with almond milk and was not too sweet. The food here is one in a million, don’t miss this spot if you’re in Hollywood.

The Peruvian food is delicious I have ordered the Aji de gallina, Butifarra, and Chicharron sandwich also an empanada for later, and of course you got to drink either a Chicha morada or Inka Kola. Love coming here to order, it always makes this girl happy! Like dancing happy!

Picked up lunch to go. Very tasty. Ordered 4 different sandwiches and all were excellent. Added a couple empanadas just to taste them, and they did not disappoint. The fillings in both were full of flavorful

I had the chicken thigh empanada it was five dollars for an empanada. IDK maybe that’s the new price for an empanada. The reason why I got the empanadas because I came close to closing pretty much everything was sold out.

Went there with a friend for lunch just looking at the menu the prices were super high we still wanted to try. The sandwiches are big I order the cold but butifarra was $13. flavor was good but so little meat and the bread over powered the flavor for the price not worth it at all. My friend order a pan con chicharrón $15. Same thing bread is big but just a few pieces of meat he asked to buy an order of just chicharrón because for the size of bread the quantity is a joke and they told us will be charged 15 dollars like a new sandwich so 30 dollars for a sandwich they are out of their mind flavor was good but the bread and the sweet potatoe overpowered the entire flavor. Over all this place is not over priced is WAYYYYY OVER PRICED I would happily pay 15 dollars for your sandwich but you need to add 3 times the portion also I order 2 empanadas for 5 dollars each and also not worth the price the chicha morada 5 dollars a cup wasn’t even well prepared. Not trying to trash this place again flavor was good but a big rip off unfortunately don’t recommend this place because of the price and quantity very disappointed oh and the hot sauce good flavor but felt like I got second degree burn in and out.

My husband and I have been longtime customers of this establishment. There are not enough good things to say. The food is always fresh and prepared very well. Regardless of what item you select on the menu you will certainly enjoy it because it is so tasty. My personal favorite is the quinoa and beef bowl, but the pork sandwich is definitely something everyone has to try. The spicy sauce is freshly made and warning it is extremely hot, but delicious. I do not like spice myself, regardless I have to get this sauce every time I visit. You must try the chicha, which is a drink that taste like nothing you've had before. This is one of my favorite places to go and it is a staple in our community.

Ok food, too many uncooked onions; and so many better sandwich and Peruvian options in the area. Customers do not like when you start putting chairs on top of the tables next to you while you are eating. Especially if it’s still daylight.

Normally I’ve had nothing but great experiences with J28, specifically the mushroom saltado bowl. Today I got it as usual and regret to inform all that there was a literal rock in my food. A whole pebble was in my bowl and I bit down on it and am at a loss for words on how this could even be possible and will be looking into the next steps as my tooth and mouth hurt immensely from this unforeseen hard object being bitten by me. Very unfortunate.

Walk in to try out their sandwiches, which they are famous for. Order the pork sandwich and a coffee and paid over $20.00 which I think is way too high, especially considering that sandwich comes alone no sides, and barely had any meat, nothing out of the ordinary. Looking at their menu and prices/portions I will not come back.

This guy makes some killer Peruvian influenced sandwiches & salad. The butaffara is a killer! The morada juice is to die for! So many things to try. All made to order so it may take a little time! It's very small, like 3 tables but most people take-away. A little pricey but worth thr quality ingredients! Counter service!

I know this place for a few years since the very beginning their attitude has not changed they're not very welcoming but the food it's great They have not changed their portions their flavors their presentations which is great consistency and their meals is definitely present. We love to go there We always want to come back a little expensive for a sandwich shop but it's worth it We will be back

Food was really flavorful and delicious. I ordered the lomo saltado with yuca. Add extra sauce if you are a sauce person when you order as they charge for additional sauce. Overall would return and recommend it for a quick bite to eat. Staff were really nice!

Solid place for Peruvian food. Got the lomo saltado and 11 spice chicken bowls. The chicken was a highlight. Wish there was more protein vs rice and beans ratio as the meat was delicious. Fast and kind service.

One of the best tasting sandwiches I've had in this area. I had the pork and the sweet potato sandwich and it was really special - the pork was perfectly cooked, juicy, and very flavorful and it complimented the sweet potato perfectly. Overall highly recommend!

Disappointing….. we chose this place based on the Google reviews. We flew to Miami to visit family and get away from the Midwest for a few days. I hope that management can prevent this situation from happening again. I think this place has something good going. Based on the reviews, looks like we had an out of the ordinary experience, our only experience at this restaurant nevertheless. Food was okay. Small portions. Food super overpriced. Place lacks customer service. We were served extra food on accident. The gentleman there, not sure if he was the owner or manager came to our table to tell us that the cashier lady gave us an extra salad. He stood there awkwardly and finally said, “enjoy your free salad.” Let’s rewind a few minutes here. When we ordered it was unclear what we ordered. Apparently there are three variations to most dishes. When we ordered we weren’t given an option as we didn’t know how the menu worked. The lady kept nodding, not saying much. It would have been nice if she would have said something like, “Would you like that as a sandwich or served with rice and …” that way we knew our options. We asked her to repeat the order. It seemed accurate. The communication from the cashier should have been better. It was more than obvious that we hadn’t been there before. When the same lady who took our order served it to us, I commented to my wife, “Oh, I guess you (my wife) ordered two salads. I guess I’ll eat this one.” All along the lady didn’t say anything. She left back to the cashier area, away from our table. Fast forward two or so minutes…. Now there’s a man at our table showing his disapproval of our free salad. First of all, we didn’t want a free salad. We wanted the food that we ordered. It was unclear how the error occurred. If he was unhappy with giving away lettuce, he should take it up with his employee who was probably not properly trained. I struggle to give this place satisfactory marks due to the man’s lack of self awareness or disregard for us. The food was okay. Nothing to wrote home about. The portions were small and therefore overpriced. The dining experience was awkward because of the interaction with the cashier and the manager.

I love Peruvian food but I had never tried a Peruvian sandwich! Amazing! I had the Butifarra and it was so good, the bun was fresh, lettuce crispy, pork tender and sliced thin, just sandwich perfection! The service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for a sub but want to try something different, we loved it!

Would eat here again. Never had a butifarra sandwich before, but if you're into bacon or pork rinds, I highly recommend the chicharon version!

Fantastic sandwiches … tasty and filling but not super heavy. If you haven’t had Chicha, you should! It’s like Jamaica but made with a special kind of corn. Super nice people behind the counter as well.

Sencillamente de locos, ni en Perú prove un sándwich tan delicioso!

Long time customer that simply wont be returning, anytime soon. The food and flavors are quite fantastic and I know they put a lot of thought into the food and its appreciated. They close right around dinner time (inconvenient) and not open on Mondays or Tuesdays (fair enough). I think they penny pinch thier customers too much. When I order empanadas, they only fill the sauce container half way up (the containers are super tiny to begin with). I have ordered lots of money in empanadas before and had to buy extra sauces just to have enough for all the food. This happens consistently. I recently asked to have one dish with onions, I was told they couldnt give me onions because there was no way to "charge for it". The owner then suggested I get another dish entirely (that has onions but is a completely different dish from what I ordered. I once asked for asked for tomatoes instead of beans, and they told me a buy a side salad that had tomatoes in it. I've decided to cross them off the list because these little customizations are not allowed even though I'm happily paying a premium for the food. Happily! But, I simply don't need a lecture everytime I want to get some onions (or whatever) on my dish.

I've had the sandwiches here before which are good. But today I decided to order the Lomo Saltado bowl for delivery. I was surprised that the meat and sauce were already poured on top of the rice ( the fries were in a separate bag). Everywhere else I've ordered from has the meat/sauce in a different container so you can dole it out yourself. Anyway, the rice to sauce ratio was way off, not enough for that amount of rice. Which was sad because the sauce is what this dish is all about. The meat was tender and not overcooked. But oddly had a burnt taste to it. Like maybe some other food got burnt on the grill and it picked up the smoke taste. I'll stick to the sandwiches from now on.

J28’s food is delicious! My wife and I both agree that this is one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Hollywood, Florida. Empanadas (beef & ají de gallina) with fire sauce. Ají de gallina bread bowl with potatoes on the side. Lomo Saltado over rice and beans. Excellent Peruvian food!

My family and I stopped here before heading back to Tampa and I gotta say, this is our favorite Peruvian sandwich restaurant in Florida. Great and speedy service!
