very bad food was a waste of my time and money the afang soup was a mess the entire food wasn't fresh and over priced. I regret going there

I wanted to order the rice and stew and these people , wanted to charge me almost 10$ extra for the stew to contain meat ! Stew is supposed to come with meat already ! That’s extremely greedy on their part! No body eats rice and stew just like that without any meant or protein !! Also their food is extra salty . Save your money and order else where

I love to eat here all the time but unfortunately I cannot afford there menu and I wish I can get free Nigeria food for the next 2 -4 years free or find someone who can pay for me to continue to eat good food from my hometown of Nigerian!!!??? The food is 10/10, but the staff will test your patience. Especially the lady who takes order. She doesn’t crack a smile and she’s very dismissive. I recommend them for delivery not puck up, the customer service will make you lose your appetite.

I am from out of town. Four years ago, I visited Jolloff Etc and was so impressed with the food and the owner's kindness that I left a glowing 5-star review. Sadly, my recent experiences have forced me to change that rating to 1 star, and I have no plans to return. I hope the owner sees this. During my recent visit, I was eager to revisit this once-great restaurant. Unfortunately, what I encountered was extremely disappointing. My day, which was going well, took a downturn after visiting Jolloff Etc. Summary: This used to be a favorite spot because of the excellent food and exceptional customer service. Now, the food is just ok, the wait times are excessively long, and the customer service is abysmal. Dine-In Experience (July 3): * We were a group of 5 and spent over $200, but the experience was a 5 out of 10. * We were ignored for 30 minutes while others who arrived after us were served. * Two waiters asked if we had been served, and despite saying we hadn’t, nothing was done. * After 40 more minutes, our order finally arrived, totaling a wait time of 1 hour and 10 minutes. * Half of the menu items, including the main dish we came for, were unavailable. Take-Out Experience (July 5): * I ordered two portions of amala, ewedu, and gbegiri, however, the served dish was missing the gbegiri food item. * We drove back to the restaurant to resolve the issue, only to encounter a different staff member. * I didn’t collect the receipt earlier as I am one of those who always says no to receipts for takeouts as I like to save on paper. The new lady at the counter was able to successfully pull up the receipt. However, on looking at the receipt, she said she could see that although we paid for 2 orders of gbegiri, she found that the previous lady only charged for 1 plate of amala. Instead of trying to resolve the issue of the missing orders, she instead kept focusing on the error in the charge which was their fault. * Despite clear evidence on the receipt, she implied that I was trying to get something for free and was dismissive and rude in her comments. * I tried to explain, but she refused to acknowledge their mistake and insisted on seeing the second order, which was already being eaten by my wife. * I left the plate of amala and ewedu with them and went into the car to tell my wife what had happened. I stayed in the car while my wife went in and showed them her almost finished plate of food as evidence that we had ordered 2 plates of food. * While my wife was trying to resolve the issue, I already lost my appetite so I called my wife that we should leave their establishment. Before writing this review, I went back to the dine-in part of the business to speak with the manager. I explained the situation and hoped for an apology from the attendant that was rude for the treatment we received. Though the manger took time to listen, she was very defensive of the employee. She asked what we wanted and I said an apology is all that was needed for her attitude and insinuations. She then said if we needed an apology we would need to go back to the take-out part of the restaurant which was in another building entirely. At that point, we expected her to call on her staff into the building where we were so the issue could be resolved. But to our utmost surprise, she asked us to go over to her at the building where she was. At that point, we had had enough. The manager then offered to refund us $6 for the orders of gbegiri that was missing, thereby, missing the point entirely – it was never about the money (which we refused by the way). It was about a loyal customer who came in from out of town to try to relieve an experience and was severely underwhelmed. By the end of this ordeal, I was exhausted and unhappy. We left without any resolution, and I ended up eating fast food instead. I won’t be back.

Their food is very good no doubt, but can you reduce the oil in your Jellof rice???? Each time I throw away almost half of the plate because of too much oil! Is it Jellof or oil rice??? It kept dripping of oil! Please reduce oil and salt!!!! Thank you

The prices are ludicrous! It says $14 on the website but I paid $34 for a single plate of rice! Seems like the place is running out of business because the price to portion ratio is atrocious.

I was celebrating a reunion of a friend I met while in school. I hadn't see her daughter in 14 years. My friend treated me to the foods from Africa. It truly was a special event made possible by Jolloff Etcetera. I had the baked fish and rice. I was tested well.

I loved it there, this was my first time having Nigerian food. And all of it was splendid. Will definitely come back. This is my new favorite restaurant. Sorry for the pic. I forgot to take it before I dove in, it was just that good.

The women that takes the orders very nasty and rude . Took extremely long to order and even longer to get the food .Jallof taste burnt , went back to tell them she was rude no help telling me that’s how it taste . No food suppose to taste burnt flame especially rice . The did not resolve the complaint. I would recommend going there I’ve been robbed

This is my second time coming here and I was extremely disappointed with the service. The server her name was (Brenda ) was extremely impatient with me and started to talk to me in a direspectfull manner just because I was trying to figured out which food to choose. I understand she was the only one taking order and there were other customers but as someone who has work in a restaurant before I understand the frustration but you should always treat a customer respectfully. You should not throw your frustration to a customer most importantly when the customer did nothing but ask a question.

I elected to dine in and I place my order with the waitress. I wait for 10 min for her to tell me they didn’t have the dish!! I initially ask if they had it she said yes. I think they discriminate again African Americans !

Spent almost $200 here and the food was super underwhelming. Per usual, the food took FOREVER to come out. Bought a chicken and a beef shawarma ($20/each) as well and it was just HORRIBLE! They both looked big at first glance but they were just full of cabbage (minimal beef/chicken and 2 tired looking tiny sausage). It tasted like an experiment (you are better off experimenting at home). Ordered puff puff - DISASTER! Ordered meat pie - TRASH, was full of ground turkey. Fish pie - A JOKE! Don’t even get me started on the ata stew and the jollof rice! Plantain was giving unripe plantain chips. Long story short, never going back there! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

I visit Jollof often to get patties it’s one of my favorite places. Today, I received the driest, burnt chicken patty I’ve ever had in my life and upon letting them know and showing them how dry it was, they told me it’s not dry and their not giving me any other one. Being a frequent customer and knowing the quality of your food; this is dry, I could hardly break it open in front of them to show the inside. I only asked to switch it out for another kind of Pattie. Unfortunately, they refused to give me anything else and therefore, I left them the patty because it was trash I’m not eating, dried out burnt food. The typical lady that works the front was not there, this is not my usual experience here and it’s unfortunate. I’m really disappointed in the customer service and lack of consideration. I had to waste my money and that my issue because I cannot eat dry burnt food. Visibly burnt. I should’ve taken a picture of it but I was so mad I just left it because I couldn’t eat it. I’m leaving frustrated, hungry, with money wasted. 😡 do better.

I'm so glad I discovered this African restaurant! They serve a dish that is considered a delicacy in my country, Eru. I was really curious to try it, but I wasn't sure if they would prepare it the same way we do back home. To my surprise, it tasted exactly like the authentic version! The flavors were incredibly rich, and the texture was perfect. I would definitely give them a 5-star rating for their delicious food. The only area for improvement would be the wait time, but considering they make everything from scratch, I understand and am willing to be patient. The service was excellent too - all the staff were friendly and greeted us with a smile.

This was my first time at this restaurant. I had a pregnancy craving and was not disappointed! The restaurant was clean and it was such a beautiful atmosphere. Food was delicious and service was quick and pleasant. I will be returning.

I went with my uncles and everything we had was lovely. The Jollof rice was the best I have had in awhile. It had the “firewood flavor” to it (IYKYK). The goat meat was succulent. My uncle had the fisherman soup which he seemed to enjoy. I ordered Ayamase as take out and I appreciate the balance of flavor and pepper. It was yummy. Also, it had a decent amount of assorted meat and it was not oily. Good food portions, neat and calm atmosphere (although, it wasn’t busy when I was there. I don’t know the atmosphere otherwise). The service was quick. Chinonye and Hosanna were professional, friendly, and attentive. They gave recommendations when asked and ensured customers satisfaction.

Good was horrible. I ordered Amala with Gbegiri and ewedu. The gbegiri was so thick it was disgusting to eat. It appeared that it was frozen. It over powered the stew and ewedu. OMG the Amala it self was cold as if it wasn’t freshly made. No to mentioned I asked for a side of assorted mix meat (Asun) and they gave me one piece of goat meat for $7.00. This the Hanover locations. I hear the one in DC is better but I wouldn’t be visiting this chain again. Horrible experience.

I called Hyattsville branch to order 5 meat pies, I was told they have it and that I should come in to get it. I left my home Howard county, drove 32 minutes only for me to get there and the lady said they don’t have meat pie but I could get chicken pie since I am already there. No any form of apology. Had to drive another 38 minutes back home empty handed. I wouldn’t trust this business in the future and will speed my experience with as many people as possible.

Everytime my boyfriend buy jolloff right from this place they seem to give him the bottom of the burnt rice. I can never enjoy their rice because all I taste is smoke.

The food is amazing!! Very well seasoned and the meat is veryyy tender. The decorations are beautiful with white flowers covering the ceiling. We were a big party and our server Charity was very patient with us and took care of us well. Definitely recommend!!

Food was nasty rice too salty fish separated from the goosy soup like that makes no sense at all and they give you such a small portion for the amount of money. The goat that’s supposed to be go, but it looks like cows foot which I don’t mind, but it was supposed to be go. It was super tough will never order from there again.

Worst Nigerian food in the whole world

The food was delicious 😋. I had a nice experience and got to try 2 different nigerian dishes. The place was neat and the service was quite fast when we ordered for the food to eat there. The service at the section allocated to-go foods was a different story, though. They were quite slow, but it's nothing a good pie can't fix.

This place was good until they went up on they price egusi soup use to be $15.89 then the next day they charging $20.93 for egusi with no protein I won’t be coming here aging.

The Egusi Soup w/ Beef and Pounded Yam is DELICIOUS! Great flavor, and had the perfect amount of spice. Will definitely be ordering again, and trying other dishes.

Went here with a large party for my friend’s bachelor party. Despite how many people we had, the service was good and the food was fantastic. I got the Ata Dindin, super spicy and delicious. I loved it. The Puff Puffs were also excellent.

Came here with my husband while visiting the DMV as he was craving some traditional Nigerian/Igbo food. They were out of the majority of the dishes my husband wished to try but we eventually found something. The food was great however, our servers attitude was not. She seemed annoyed at my husbands questions and overall a bit rude in how she interacted with us. The booths were a great size and decorated nicely however, the rest of the environment seemed lazy. No consistent music, staff lounging around until called upon, etc.

I ordered jollof rice from here and it didn’t taste bad but after eating it my heart was palpitating, I was so thirsty and drank 7 bottles of water after in a space of 3hrs. I ate the left over later in the evening and the same thing my heart was palpitating and I was chugging much water. Heart palpitations after eating is indicative of high sodium content. The most common culprit for high sodium content even though the food doesn’t taste salty is Monosodium Glutamate ie MSG. Beware! Not all restaurants are concerned about your health! And FYI — I have eaten in so many Nigerian restaurants and I never had heart palpitations, I might have complaints like greasy food, small portions or bones instead of meat but not high sodium content. Please beware of where and what you eat. Health is wealth!

I door dash this food and I order the okra and got something else. When I call to inquire the person who pick up was short, rude and hung up on me. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN!! Especially since they were too expensive and their customer service sucks.

There was a wait after I ordered and waited so about 45min wait total. Ordered egusi soup with beef. The egusi was good but portion was small for the price of $50. Beef very tough. Pounded tan was packed very well.

Good restaurant with good food and good music. I’ve visited a few times. The service has gotten tremendously better. Though the price has increased significantly. My go to orders are the jollof rice with meat and fried plantains, the suya. The egusi soup with fufu or the okra soup with fufu. But I’ve tried a variety of other things on their menu like the isi Ewu, the nkwobi, the meat pie, the puff puff, the peppered snail and the fried rice. Consistently, the food has always been great. I think the restaurant is a good place to try if you want to have some good Nigerian food.

I was the first lunch dine-in customer at Jollof ETC and it was excellent. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere inside is also really elegant. I’ve had food at a new Nigerian spots in the area and this one is excellent. Worth the visit!

If you haven’t eaten here for the Nigerian/west African restaurant experience in America then you are surely missing out. 5star is not enough. We need a7th. And customer service by Pearl was absolutely tremendous

Consider changing the size and type of your shawarma bread. The content of the shawarma is good but the shawarma bread/pita is too hard; so hard, it could injure your mouth. Shawarma should have a soft shell and not hard, crunchy pita. Also, if you order takeout, make sure you are actually getting what you asked for. They make mistakes and mess up orders at times, unapologetically. Aside from these, the place seems decent.

I’l give them 3 star because the food is good . But the portions always changes sometimes u have 3 meats sometimes u have 2 which isn’t fair for the price ! Big or small we should always receive our money worth. Then I called and asked for goat with my egusi soup , the lady told me there wasn’t any goat meat so I got my husband to call he asked her do they have goat meat she said yes! And this was not even 5 mins after I called . This wasn’t the first time the lady did this to me , also she isn’t really friendly to be answering phones or working in the front where people come to order unless she knows u probably . There's the takeout (no seating) counter entrance, pictured on Google Maps, and then there's the "gourmet dining" entrance around the corner of the building, next to the adjacent Ethiopian market.
