HORRIBLE! When my husband and I parked, we got out the car and as we’re walking up to the door the lady is smoking a cigarette and ask us if we are to go or to dine in. We proceed to pick a table and within a couple minutes a lady in sunglasses asks us if we’re ready to order and we said no. 5 minutes roll by and she came back again, this time I had a question pertaining to the difference amongst two dishes… she had no idea, gave little to no direction what to choose and then finally asked us what to drink. Water. Bottled water. As we got our food I did not simply like my dish. I couldn’t tell if this was how they make this particular dish, or it was poorly made. My husbands food was OK, nothing was put to standard. Mind you while this was all going on you have workers on their phone FaceTiming the whole time of our service, the lady on the phone walked by our table asking how’s the food but was too quick to notice I genuinely was confused about my dish. Disrespectful. We walked to the register explaining how I did not like my food and she told me “that’s your problem” telling me I have to pay half the food because of labor and the food products to buy the ingredients… EXCUSE ME! Because my two bites trying the food cost $12 and that’s in half! Ridiculous.

Update: 5 months later. Still no refund. Update: 2 months later. Still no refund. Good food. Unfortunately, charged $50 more than what I ordered. Ended up paying $70 for one person to dine in for lunch. Owner said they would refund, but never did. Beware of your credit card charges.

Amazing food and great service. First time eating here with my fiancé and all I can say is we’ll be back for sure. The food was amazing and the lady was very nice.

Best Korean food! Made to order!!!

One of the few restaurants in Box Elder and it is great! Had the Pork Udon and it was goooooood! With not many workers on a Saturday night I'm surprised with how fast the food came out. The tables are a little dirty (maybe because of the lack of workers), but I'm not going to dock points off of that, especially with how messy and delicious the food is. Also, not use of peanut oil for cooking, which I find very good because I got an allergy to peanuts and one of the last Asian restaurants I went to used a lot of it.

Ordered chicken teriyaki with shrimp tempura. Got a salad covered in ranch dressing, a scoop of rice, and some not great chicken teriyaki. No crispiness to the chicken, was just rubbery and soaked in sauce that tasted like it came out of a bottle. The shrimp tempura was very good, but the meal itself was a disappointment. Might go back to try the bimbibap as I've seen good reviews on it.

The female owner and her grandmother looked very tired and unfriendly.

Great food good sized portions!

This is a very late post but I feel there's value added to taking the time to rate/comment this business because of the memorable experiences that I've experienced here. Not to mention, I'm trying to play catch-up to some of my reviews that I've missed in the past. I had the privilege of watching the start-up of this restaurant several years ago, and I can clearly see why it's been so successful. From the moment they first opened their doors, the food quality has been exceptional. My family, friends, co-workers, and I used to eat here approximately 2-3 times per week. Now that I reside in Las Vegas, I don't get the opportunity to visit this restaurant and the family that owns/operates it...which is unfortunate - the family was always so friendly and welcoming to their restaurant! There's not many restaurants in this world to which I can claim that I've tried over 94% of the items on the menu. Although one of my favorite dish on this menu is the Bi Bim Bap, all the food options are phenomenal. After leaving South Dakota back in 2014 to move to Las Vegas, I did have the opportunity to visit Kang San a few years later and see if anything had dramatically changed. To my knowledge, nothing turned for the worse and I did manage to talk to the owner again to catch up which was awesome. I also got to see my picture still on their famous, "Great Wall of Kang San," which was very nostalgic. Thanks for all the good food and great memories - I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Super solid, especially for small town SD. Good Beef Teriyaki/ Tempura Combo. No frills spot, good size portions about $17/entree

Sorry that I only took 2 photos as the food was finished before I could take more! This place is authentic and the aroma of the Bimbimbap is breathtaking! Some of the pictures on google makes the dish looked really bland BUT don’t be deceived! You won’t regret coming here and might find yourself licking the bowl clean!

We had ordered seaseme chicken meal with cucumber kimchi and a double order to veggie tempura. The lady that answered the phone was trying to rush us to order and very impatient. Our veggie tempura was under cooked and my seaseme chicken over cooked with mushy rice and hot vegetables salad. I was only able to eat the kimchi. We were highly disappointed and very unsatisfied with the service and food. This restaurant used to be awesome and now it is not worth it and would recommend staying away from it.

Good food, the beef teriyaki was a good portion size. However, the service was lacking. The lady working was friendly to other customers, but not to my husband or myself. Wasn’t greeted and was barely spoken to by her. And the restaurant seating area was dirty.

Got our meal to-go, and I do have to admit the chicken fried rice was the best I've had in the region, it had an abundance of fried flavor. The bibimbop was spiced to perfection and I will definitely be back to dine-in for the stone-bowl bibimbap. Don't forget the fried dumplings- they are a must have!

Food was great and portions were big. A little pricey so make sure you verify the prices with them or look at my menu photos as the others are outdated. I thought I was charged wrong until I verified with the menus inside.

Beef Bulgogi was a sad attempt. First time here and we really wanted to like this place

Incredible food, Incredible service, and an Incredible woman running it all on her own. Give this place a try and become a regular. I would if I lived in the state. Edit: She was so sweet, gave us a DELICIOUS dessert for my great aunts birthday Also I don't usually like Kim Chi but hers was FANTASTIC

Ever heard that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover? On the outside, Kang San looks as though it may not have anything to offer, however, it couldn't be further from the truth. Once we sat down and perused the menu, and saw food presented to other guests, it was easy to see how they've been in business for so long. In fact, the lady has operated this restaurant for more than 20 years! She was lovingly working in the kitchen to serve authentic Korean food that is TO DIE FOR. Her kimchi is also homemade and tastes amazing. We would absolutely love to go again if we ever come back to South Dakota.

Tiny Restaurant w the Owner as Waitress, Cook/Chef & Busser! She's Amazing & so is the Food. The Teriyaki Salmon Dinner was delicious. My companions had a Shrimp Egg Dish & raved about it. If u r in Box Elder or even Rapid City check this little place out! No Alcohol just Sodas & Tea but we were fine w that. 5 Stars!

Was visiting town and called in because we were having a poker night!! I told her we needed a variety of food to feed 8 people!! She did an amazing job with portions, gave me side sauces for everyone, food was very flavorful!! Highly recommended very friendly told me she had been there over 20 years I can definitely see why!! Thanks for a great meal and spectacular service!!

Our family decided to try this place based on the decent review and somehow she charged us extra for the meals. When I asked for an itemized receipt, she wrote the names of the dish we ordered but no price next them. I really wanted to give her a good review since the business seems to be slow but I can tell that she takes advantage of the first timer. No integrity tells me everything about their business model.

This is the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant in my life. I ordered the sweet potato noodles. Once I got it, I realized it was not what I was expecting. I thought sweet potatoes would be orange, but there were clear slimy noodles. There was that boy about 1oz of beef in here. I brought it up and explained to the woman that the wasn’t what I was expecting. I very nicely apologized and asked if I could please have something by else instead.She very rudely snapped at me and said “THESE ARE SWEET POTATO NOODLES”. I again apologized and said it just wasn’t what I was expecting and was hoping to try something different. All she said then was “ what do you want “. I said can I please have the beef bowl, add veggies. She walked away in the middle of me talking. I just stood there confused because I wasn’t sure if she heard me or not. Her back was towards me for about a minute when I realized she wasn’t coming back so I just awkwardly went back to my table. The new food was awful. I love salt but all I tasted was salt in this and she didn’t put any veggies in it so I didn’t even get what I ordered. I was too uncomfortable to even ask about the missing veggies. When we went to pay she charged me for the more money expensive meal that I returned! We kindly and hesitantly brought up the mistake to her but she said it was not a mistake. She said she hates customers like us and it was my fault I didn’t like it. My husband was so patient and told her he likes his food but mine honestly just was not good. She threw the money at us and told us to never come back. Wow. What a bad experience.

want to talk about a hole in the wall asian food stop? this is the text book definition of one! she has been around for over 20 years, right outside the base, walls adorned with the many many active duty military members that stop for lunch, we are just passing through on a summer vacation and did not regret it!! we had the beef and chicken bowl. so so so so good

평점보고 갔는데 실망했어요 밥도 오래된 밥이었고 다른 음식들도 신선하지 않았어요 맛도 별로였어요 식당 주인분께서 혼자 운영하고 계셨어요....사실 다시는 가고 싶지 않아요....

여행 중에 가 본 한식당 중 최고였습니다. 아이들도 정말 맛있었다고 계속 얘기하는 곳이었습니다. 아이들과 먹을 수 있게 음식 맛을 조절해주신 것은 물론이고 서비스도 최고였습니다!

I decided to give the place a second try (my original review was a 1 star simply because I was let down), and it’s pretty yummy :) I would just suggest putting more meat! The bibimbap and beef bulgogi are really good. I don’t like kimchi with large chunks, but the bulgogi was so flavorful and had good portions :) ! Delicious! (MY OLD REVIEW) Very low review because I had high hopes for this place, but the following happened: - ordered two bibimbap (each are shown to be 12.00 on the menu) but when she charged me, it somehow came out to be 30.08 !! I know taxes weren’t 6.00 extra, so I’m sure she added on some bucks because it was my first time there - found a hair in my food, the woman who was there and cooked it wasn’t wearing a hair net. - only a few pieces of meat, I definitely expect more meat for the amount of rice put in (it was literally five pieces of meat) - 15.00 for some very mediocre “i made this at home” kind of cooking. My Korean friend’s mother made bibimbap better than this and she never would have charged 15.00 for it. Very disappointed since this place is super close to me and I was hoping I stumbled upon a diamond in the rough. The food was good, but it’s definitely overpriced for what it is.

My wife and I came here and try to eat few different things. Some good, some just OK. Like the Sliced beef for example, it was pretty boring just tasted like soy sauce. However the noodle stirfry was very good and so was the calamari dish. Service was good and fast especially for just one person and a cute little old Korean lady she was too. You know they’re Asian because they charge you for every little thing. A small cup of kimchi is one dollar unfortunately. I did not leave a tip because the five dollars I set aside was spent on kimchi and water ok?

An authentic Korean food! I came at dinner time weekday and it's not busy at that time. Most of the order was a to go order. I opened the door and instantly greeted by Korean "ahjuma", my sixth sense automatically said this can't be wrong 😅 4 star for the taste and authenticity! Don't expect a nice ambience or a nice food presentation. I order the bibimbap, and So Bul Koki, both of it taste really good.

I finally went to this one after missing the one in Sturgis for 3 years (it closed). It didn't disappoint. The chicken stir fry and the sesame chicken mixxed together is probably my favorite dish from anywhere. I'd almost choose that over a steak dinner from Dakota Steakhouse. Maybe not but that's how good it is.

Good Asian food, just like a home cooked meal. Food and price are very affordable. Its not a 5 star eatery if you look at decor. But the food and presentation are awesome.

There is no Korean restaurant in Sioux Falls (C’mon, man!) so I always have to go one when I get the chance. I didn’t see it on the menu, but I took a chance when I called and asked if they had kimchibokkembap (kimchi fried rice). The lovely woman on the phone said no, but when I sadly said “shoot,” she said “I’ll make it for you.” When I got there to pick it up, she asked how I learned about kimchibokkembap. I said I taught English in Korea several years ago. We chatted some more and when I left I said 감사합니다 and she said 천만에요 and I was seriously beaming with joy. Oh, the food was amazing, too. No surprise. 🙌😍🥰🇰🇷 Please support this wonderful small business!

Dirty bathrooms at a restaurant are a real turnoff for me, and this was no exception. The owner, cook, waitress, does it all, but the first impression makes or breaks a place. As we walked in the owner proceeded to take a smoke break outside, leaving the door open, so we could experience her cigarette smoke too. Food was ok, but I wouldn't go back.

Awesome little spot. With great Japanese and Korean options. The fried potstickers are amazing. And any lunch box you get is worth it. It's a small mom and pop...authentic.

The balance of spice & seasoning is in the traditional mind of the chef. This multicultural melting pot will be sure to satisfy all your tastebuds and have them singing with joy. Fast friendly service everything on the menu is bomb without needing to light a fuse.

Korean/Japanese style food (no Sushi). The owner isn't the friendliest and the restaurant decor is very basic, but our family loves the food. The food is authentic.

A humble little restaurant with some really nice food. I go here as often as I can for my Korean food fix. If I had to give one bit of advice for improvement, it's to invest in a more appealing interior. While I don't mind it so much, I noticed a lot of people say that about this restaurant, so it would be a great improvement!
