Great food, great service. I had dinner here with my boyfriend and it was delicious. We had the chicken and walnut dip appetizer that they served with pita bread. Our waiter was great and told us that they had a dinner special they make weekly called the Doner Kebab which is on the front of their menu. Our dinner came with a small salad before the food came and we had the Doner Kebab the traditional way which was so good. Our waiter was attentive, and other staff came to fill up our waters ( I don’t think our glasses ever got half empty) Our dinner was so good - I wanted dessert. We had their house made orange baklava which was a great way to end our meal. If you are in the area or just driving through I highly recommend it!

First impression was that the staff are very receptive and welcoming. The restaurant has an authentic atmosphere and great seating arrangements. The menu has a wonderful array and variety of options, with the donor made onsite on limited days being a special. Presentation of food was wonderful, we orders starters with borek, mezze all being good and a standard that’s acceptable but nothing beyond. Mains was donor, which I found pretty average and desserts mediocre. On the whole, great restaurant, staff atmosphere 5* but food essentially lets it down. I didn’t ask, but as Turks I believe the food was Halal and also reliably informed by the entourage present that all foods are halal.

This place really is terrific. All for the staff were very welcoming and you could see that there are many regulars and they are treated like family. Very open and comfortable venue. The food was great! My wife and I have had Turkish food all over the country and some places overseas and this has risen to our new favorite. My lamb was so tender it fell of the bone and was delicious. The appetizer sampler was great as well. We finished diner with a Turkish coffee and baklava and it was perfect. Thank you so much. We’re only here for a week and will probably visit twice!

Went here after reading a review in the Arlington Magazine. It was the worst turkish food we ever had. The ingredients quality is bad and it tastes bland and uninteresting. The 'turkish" lentil soup tasted like a chicken boullion cube and way too salty. The side salad comes with a store bought dressing of indefinable ingredients. The bread is store bought and has no taste or substance. The chicken has a weird consistency and was not seasoned. The grilled tomatoes are unripe. The meze plate had nothing that tasted turkish or fresh and included dry cold chicken with weird consistency. The rice was watery overcooked and bland tasting. The tzatziki had the consistency of a thick paste. The börek had a thick cream cheese filling. The suçuk tasted like chemicals. Everything is outrageously overpriced. The patrons mainly silver haired and regulars. It's really a shame if the patrons believe this is real turkish cuisine. It couldn't be more far from it. The tables have plastic tableclothes and the walls have wooden eagles and dolphins and some old posters.

The last time I visited was to take a client to lunch, but my entire family loves Kazan. We have enjoyed eating inside and outside, and they have catered family celebrations. Zeynel, his son, and his brother have been delivering delicious cuisine and making people feel at home for 40+ years! It's hard to pick a favorite; it depends on how hungry you are; there's a special Doner Kebob messes so you can taste everything, light or heavy, and leave room for the sensational orange baklava dessert!

It’s soooooo goooood! I wish I had taken more pictures of the food. You just can’t miss eating here. I found them thanks to the article on Arlington Magazine. The chef, his son, and his brother, who are on the pictures of the article, were at the restaurant and I noticed they greeted every table. The service was great, thoughtful, and super helpful. All the food and drinks were delicious and beyond. So flavorful, authentic, and varied. We had a special of the day with scallops and a Turkish Moussaka. The Turkish coffee was delicious and the desserts were out of this world: a Turkish style rice pudding dessert and the orange baklava (which Nancy Reagan (First Lady of the US in the 80s) once ordered for a state dinner. While living in Turkey, the chef was recruited to cook for the then-President of Turkey at Topkapi Palace in Ankara. I really really really highly recommend you go to this restaurant.

It's a really comfortable, quiet place, the photo below makes it seem bright, but that's just because my phone adjusted the brightness according to my camera. There was a huge choice of items on the menu including vegetarian, lamb, chicken, beef, and fish. There was a full set of appetizers, desserts, wine and beer. I had chicken in mushroom sauce with rice pilaf, it came with a salad. It was a lot of food for one person to eat, and it was delicious.

By far one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV. This Turkish cuisine has always amazed me with its rich and diverse flavors, providing an authentic Turkish experience. From the warm welcome at the entrance to the attentive and knowledgeable staff, the service here complements the culinary delights perfectly. The prompt seating and clear communication about the menu add to the overall positive dining experience. The chef's expertise shines through in dishes like the succulent doner kebab and the outstanding imam bayildi. It's not just a meal; it's a journey through the vibrant and flavorful tapestry of Turkish gastronomy. The delightful ambiance, a mix of dim lighting and Turkish music, creates the perfect setting for a memorable meal. This restaurant is a true gem, where exceptional service harmonizes with the culinary artistry, making each visit a delightful and authentic Turkish dining adventure. Whether you're a regular like myself or a first-timer, I promise you'll have a fantastic time at Kazan Restaurant.

We chose this restaurant based on a recommendation from a trusted waitress at Agora, who had previously worked here. Arriving with my wife and our 1-year-old baby, our experience was unfortunately marred by a less-than-welcoming atmosphere. The elderly hostess, in particular, made us feel as though our presence was an inconvenience. Despite numerous empty tables indoors, we were seated in the back corner under a tent on a cold evening. While I understand the importance of reservations, I found the hostess's demeanor disrespectful. Our waiter, however, was a shining exception. He was courteous and gentlemanly, providing the only positive aspect of our visit. Regrettably, the restaurant fell short in terms of family-friendliness, with a broken high chair further highlighting the issue. Turning to the food, the lentil soup was satisfactory, but the doner kebab left much to be desired. The meat lacked flavor and was excessively oily, resulting in a disappointing culinary experience. The rice, as depicted in the attached photo, was disappointingly mushy. Having sampled doner kebabs across various states and restaurants in the US, I can confidently say that this was the most unsatisfactory meal I have ever encountered. I hope the management takes note of these observations for the benefit of future patrons.

We visited on Saturday night, and unfortunately, the elderly hostess made us feel like an inconvenience right from the start. Despite available tables inside, she seated us in a cold corner under a tent. The lack of hospitality from the hostess was disheartening, as attitude is everything in life. Now, turning to the main event—the food. The doner kebab was a major letdown; the meat lacked flavor and was excessively oily, making it the worst we've ever had. While the lentil soup was okay, the mushy rice was another disappointment. We no longer trust the past 5-star comments given by the restaurant; it seems like a scam. Considering our combined experiences with doner kebabs across various states, including Turkey, this meal at Kazan was undoubtedly the most unsatisfactory one. We hope our feedback helps improve the overall dining experience for others, particularly addressing the host's demeanor and the quality of the doner kebab. It's worth noting that our waiter was a standout, providing excellent service and being the only positive aspect of our experience.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kazan restaurant and I must say, it was an absolutely delightful experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality. The menu offered a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes, each bursting with flavor and authenticity. We started with the meze special, which was a perfect combination of hummus, haydari, stuffed grape leaves and more. Adana kebab was just perfect and delicious. The service throughout the meal was exceptional. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to ensure that I had the best dining experience possible. Overall, I highly recommend Kazan restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere all exceeded my expectations, and I cannot wait to return and try more of their delectable dishes.

I've eaten at this restaraunt at least once a month for the past five years and I get carry out nearly as often. Food is excellent. My favorite is the chicken kabob, which has a great charcoal flavor. Stuffed grape leaves are great. The Adana Acili (a chopped lamb skewer) is very good. "Sultan Tavuk" (chicken marinated in oregano sauce then grilled) is another go-to. I always order "Yakut" wine, a full-bodied red from eastern Anatolia. For desert, the must-order is "orange Baklava" a Kazan specialty. Service is always excellent.

I have patronized this restaurant for 40 years and never had a bad experience. It is family run and staffed and creates a warm atmosphere. 3 buddies and I stopped in for dinner after smoking cigars and had a delightful dinner experience as always. The food is cooked to order, the staff hustles, and the prices are still within reason during the Biden Economic Disaster. The owners and staff complained they haven’t seen us in a while but the proliferation of grandchildren keeps many of us busy and away from our favorite restaurants. I am grateful that Kazan has stayed in business. 6-7 downtown McLean restaurants have closed during COVID and as a result of the wonderful inflationary benefits of the present administration.

First off, we were going to a show and didn't leave enough time to fully savor the experience at Kazan. They were gracious, friendly, and helped us get an amazing meal but still make our show. The Doner Kabob is unlike anything I've ever had. Lamb and veal cooked on a vertical, sliced, over yogurt and sauteed pita with a light tomato sauce. Ohh My God Spectacular food and terrific service. Update: we were rushed last time so we went back again and the service was just as amazing, the food was just as spectacular, and the experience was exactly what we hoped for. Got a picture of the Doner kebab today too.

Overpriced. I ordered Döner Kebab with Pita for 26 dollars (which was one of the cheapest entrees on the menu). It came with a tiny salad and tiny bit of bread. The dish itself was fine but nothing special, and certainly not worth the inflated price. It needed more sides and less oil since it was almost entirely meat. Also for some reason our waiter felt the need to stand right next to our table and stare at us while eating. If it wasn’t for our creepy waiter I would’ve given 3 stars for the food + price.

We ordered meze for one (which was totally enough for two people if each of you also orders an entree), doner kebab (lamb with yogurt sauce, with a side salad), chicken shish (chicken skewer, with a side salad) and mixed dessert tray for two (rice pudding, baklava, crème caramel).
