Best gyros and grateful service!

I have a Knossos gyro for dinner about once a week. The only thing better than the gyros is Tammy, the lady in charge. My dog, yaya, and I love to visit. I would recommend it to anyone.

A nice, clean, unpretentious neighborhood place in Dormont, where a friend of mine and I have enjoyed gyros and sandwiches several times, usually before or after a movie at the Hollywood Theater next door. Consistently, the food is good, the service prompt/friendly, and the prices are reasonable.

Food was fantastic , everything is homemade , nice quiet place , owner goes above & beyond , we will be back !!

Great food, awesome place! Knossos Gyros is a tiny one-woman diner with a bar and stools or window seating. The environment is casual and family-friendly, or a good hangout spot to sit and do some work, while the shakes and gyros will remind you of summers with your grandma's homemade cooking.

My chicken shaorma plate was not a shaorma. :/There was some kind of chicken nugget with 3 slices of tomatoes and lettuce. If I haven't paid extra for fries there was basically nothing to eat. Looks like a "leftover plate".

FOOD IS FIRE!!!! i walked in and i was automatically greeted with a smile, i got the pierogie gyro and the grape leaves and it was so good, it’s a cute little spot in dormont, was so worth going too, food was fire! felt welcome DEFINITELY will be back!!

I hope Tammy is not the owner everyone is speaking so highly of. I had a very nasty experience at the counter, as I came to pick up the food and got yelled at because it wasn’t ready. I didn’t even get to ask a question, only tried to show the app. Look, I get it, everyone has it’s good and bad days, but remember, selling is service, service is selling. I won’t even bother coming to that store ever again.

Great gyros and their sauce is amazing!

Knossos was one of my 1st stops after purchasing a home in the neighborhood in August and it did not disappoint. Not only are the Greek delicacies amazing, but their Polish treats took me back to a time when the flavors of Czechoslovakia that my 3 dearly missed great aunts used to cook in their kitchen permeated the air when we would visit them. The cherry on top are the friendly owners who make you feel like a regular even if its your first meal with them. Don't forget to grab an ice cream float or some baklava before you leave! Knossos is a must stop for anyone who is visiting Potomic Avenue in Dormont.

We were visiting from South Carolina and wanted to bring back some pierogies. Because we had to cut our trip short, the place we originally were going to purchase from wasnt open on the weekend. We did a google search from our hotel location and found Knossos. She was about to close for 2 weeks for vacation, and we got her last 2 dozen frozen. Exactly what we wanted! She was warm and helpful. I noticed the menu included haluski and stuffed cabbage, too. We have family in the area so will definitely be back!

Everything is delicious. So many ethnic classics - gyros, baklava, pierogies, stuffed cabbage, spinach pie, stuffed grape leaves and more! They also have new fun items to try. We try to stop at Knossos first when we hit Pittsburgh. This is a neighborhood treasure. Thanks for the many yummy meals and satisfied tummys.

Every time we come here it is a good memory. Knossos rocks and the staff are genuine & kind. If you are in the Dormont area and looking for somewhere with delightful, affordable food, and a pleasantly nostalgic atmosphere, Knossos is the place to go!

Its family owned . Polish food we tried and its ok.. but pierogies are excellent.

Knossos is a very small dive right in the heart of Dormont. If you can walk there fine but if you need to drive, parking is a real pain. It's on-street, metered parking. They also deliver but seem to employ questionable delivery drivers (and questionable employees in general). The owner does not seem to screen employees (constantly new employees) and does not ensure that delivery drivers have car insurance, which is illegal. I know this for a fact because one of their delivery drivers hit my car and didn't have insurance. The gyros are okay but pricey. The gyro meat is fresh. The rest of the food is below average - no fresh ingredients, mostly frozen (you can watch them cooking the food). If you'd like to pay with a credit or debit card, they have a minimum amount you have to spend in order to use a card (which is actually illegal). Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant.

About average fare, staff was fine.

Most of the time food is yummy!, I just feel like you guys should see if the ingredients are still good before cooking with them, but overall I love coming here... gives me like a 70 kinda feels

Best gyros i recommend the pirogie gyro they put homemade pirogies on with sauteed onions mmmm. Home made Haluski, pierogies and stuffed cabbage to die for

It's ok, small local place, not the best gyro around but it's handy if you're hungry for one & don't feel like traveling, plus sometimes they deliver, so that's cool too

They serve excellent food and provide excellent customer service. The burgers and gyros are homemade. You can hear the grease sizzling and smell the aroma of the food being made. The burgers are better than anything you'll ever buy from a corporate restaurant like Burger King or McDonald's. Please, support this small business and small businesses like this one (The Hollywood Theater, included). If you are in Dormont, definitely check out Knossos Gyros. You won't be disappointed. It reminds me of one of those traditionally family owned restaurants and has a personal friendly atmosphere about it. The game is on on the TV inside the restaurant and the food is made directly in front of you, by genuine personable people. It has a nostalgic community feel to it that's intoxicating (the same with The Hollywood Theater, which is in the same area). Please go to this place on your trip to Dormont and be sure to catch a movie playing at The Hollywood Theater afterwards.

I like to support small businesses like this, so even though the place is outdated with an old counter top, old school booths, etc., I think it's kind of charming. I've been going to Knossos about once every other month for the past two years. The gyros used to be pretty good, and the prices aren't bad either. That said, the last time I went in, the guy who made our gyros looked new and he had no idea what he was doing. We got a gyro salad and it was the worst salad I've ever had. The gyro meat was still OK but the tzaiki (spelling?) sauce was as runny as milk and had no flavor. The fries were so dark and over cooked I couldn't believe he didn't notice. I would go back once more as I really like gyros and I want to give them another chance since it's so close to home, but they'll need to step up their game or I won't be back after that.

Hopefully you don't have a problem because according to staff they cannot correct any issues without approval from owner Tammy. I ordered a fish sandwich along with gyros for the kids. Delivery was suggested 55 minutes or so but took an hour and twenty minutes. We never had delivery from them before, we always went in. I opened the bun on my fish sandwich and saw a small, dried up tail dwarfed in the 6" bun. The fish isn't even a centimeter thick. There was a dash of tarter brushed across part of the bun but no lettuce or tomato. $6.75 for this!!! I called to express my displeasure and to request to bring it back. I didn't even ask for them to come back and get it. The woman who answered said there was nothing she could do but to contact the owner. She sort of apologized but completely invalidated it when she said, "I'm sorry but I made 15 of them today and you are the first person to complain." I looked at it and could not eat it so I walked the twenty minutes to the restaurant. I entered the completely empty establishment, and waited for someone to come out front. Same lady. I requested to exchange it for another item of equal value and she said there was nothing she could do without talking to the owner. She gave the same useless apology, "I'm sorry but I made 15 of them today and you are the first person to complain" I could get not receiving complaints, most restaurant complaints aren't reported but I highly doubt they get many repeat buyers for a very expensive dried up fish tail. I even said to the lady, "I understand it's not your fault, if the owner doesn't allow you to correct issues." She went on to defend the problem which in turn belittled my issue. This is unacceptable. I used to stop up there almost every time I was by there because I love the gyros. Salonikas on 6th Street downtown has awesome, authentic Greek food with fair portions and friendly staff who knows how to treat their customers.

This meal just happened. We wanted to get away from the rush-hour traffic downtown, we got lost, we ended up in a neighborhood where it seemed as if the local pastime was offering unsolicited traffic commentary at high volume. Maybe a trip to Knossos would've calmed them down. I guess you could call it "atmospheric" if you like to keep up with local crimes (on TV, thank goodness, not perpetrated live). The falafel gyro was good, but the pierogies were over the moon. "They're cooked in onions and butter--is that OK?" asked the counter woman. Oh, yes. Oh, yes it was.

Great customer service and yummy homemade food. Who could ask for anything more! Don't skip the pierogies and ice-cream sandwich - comfort food at its best!

My wife and I just tried Knosso's for the first time. Very casual diner style place. I got the gyro dinner(large gyro with your choice of fries or baklava and a side salad). My wife got a chicken gyro, and we both enjoyed our meals and were extremely full by the end. They don't have alcohol here(pretty sure you can't bring it either) but have a reasonable selection of soda, iced tea, etc. Lastly, the service was extremely friendly and efficient. As we just moved to this part of town we are really happy to have a good Greek place that we can walk to. What's even better is we don't always have to, because they deliver! Definitely recommended.
