Ordered 40$ worth of food my first time eating food from here. The ribs are not cooked on the grill. They were disgusting and oven baked. They gave me pulled pork instead of the brisket I Ordered. Macaroni salad was nasty as all out doors. The only thing eatable was the chicken and apple cake. Never again will I ever Order from this restaurant.

Best BBQ I have had in awhile!!!!! We stopped in for lunch on a Friday with 5 adults and one child. All the employees were very friendly and helpful. All the food we ordered was OUTSTANDING!!!! The rest of the family had the pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, macaroni salad. I had the ribs, collard greens and baked beans. The ribs were fall of the bone tender and were so flavorful that you did not need to put any sauce on them. The greens were cooked perfect and had great flavor and the beans had a sweet smokey flavor to them that was also very good. The portions were very large, and everybody was too full to eat any desert, but we did get chocolate and apple cake to take home, and they as well were OUTSTANDING!!!! The service we received was top notch and all employees went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I don't say it much, but this place is worth a drive to eat at if you do not live in the area and we will be back!!!!!!

These ribs are legendary. The collards and cornbread are not to be missed.

Great people that own the place. I don’t usually like collards but I love there collards. Don’t have the bitter taste. I try to eat here whenever I travel out this way for work. Defense should get some great ribs!

The food is amazing! Their brisket is incredible and the Mac and cheese is so creamy and flavorful. The parsley potatoes are buttery and a must try. The family is wonderful and local and they’re a Tampa staple. They have the best bbq in the area, hands down 🤤

Thought we'd give it a try. Oh my, what a wonderful idea that turned out to be! Everyone from the manager down couldn't do enough for us. Between all in our group, we ate a variety of food choices and everyone was excited about their choices. The homemade deserts taste like homemade.

Very good ribs and fast FRIENDLY service

Food was amazing. This was our first time eating from Kojak’s. My wife picked up a few combos on the way home and everything was amazing. I judge a BBQ place by if they make their coleslaw and potato salad in house, it shows extra attention to quality food. The coleslaw and potato salad here are amazing and clearly made in house. All of the meat we got was tasty and cooked properly. We will be coming back many more times.

If you're a big eater there's plenty in your plate, if you eat moderately you'll get 2 meals with a take out. Food is great and fast, we'll be back! Finally we have 2 decent restaurants in Seffner.

Chicken was perfectly cooked. Baked beans, cole slaw and potatoe salad great also. Service is very fast. Folks are super friendly. Miss them being in S. Tampa, but worth the drive!!

My family was in the area and decided to stop for dinner. Great prices, great choices and service was great. We got bbq slider, ribs and key lime pie! Everything was good. Pot salad and Mac cheese was flavorful. We will return.

I happen upon my old-time haunt from Tampa over in Seffner when looking for a bite to eat. I was happy that the food was exactly the same and the same family that was running it over in South Tampa. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was that at the old restaurant you got table service there. You had to order at the counter but they did bring it to your table. My favorite is the rib dinner with the macaroni salad and the buttered potatoes. I never skip a chance to have their chocolate cake homemade and delicious! One of the family members was working that Day and he went out of his way to be friendly and talk to me at the counter and came to my table as well.

I got the combo meal with chicken and pulled pork with green beans and parsley potatoes on the side and OH MY GOSH this is delicious!!! I’ve had a lot of BBQ in my life and this is deserving of beyond 5 stars! Great flavor and the meat was tender and juicy and not dry at all, which is hard to come by. Very friendly people too 😃 We will definitely be back!

Fantastic flavor! We had the ribs, parsley potatoes and macaroni and cheese. All were excellent, and they have a nice selection of tasty barbecue sauces. Even the corn bread was excellent. Service is great; the staff are friendly and very helpful. The environment is southern, informal and engaging. We will be back for sure.

Been coming here about every other week since I found it. Great menu, good prices, the ribs are the best I've had in a long time, the pulled pork is juicy and delicious, the beef brisket is smokey and super tender. Their vegetables and desserts are also fantastic.

For a barbecue establishment to thrive in this competitive market, it is imperative that the ribs, brisket, and chicken take center stage and deliver an exceptional culinary experience. In order to ensure long-term success, Kojak's must elevate the flavors and overall quality of their barbecue offerings to meet the demands of discerning customers seeking authentic and satisfying barbecue experiences.

I am hooked on their BBQ ribs and chicken it's like no other. The parsnip potatoes are also my favorite for their sides. It's a hidden gem, reasonably priced and quick when you order. Great job

The best food, friendly staff, and quick on service love this place

The staff is incredibly friendly, the price was decent. My partner got the rib dinner and I got a side salad. Sensory: The dining room is clean and free from obtrusive smells. There is music but not loud. Overhead florescent lighting. Vegetarian notes: I was very disappointed in the lack of vegetarian options. I don't expect many vegetarian options when I go to a bbq place, but they don't even have a grilled cheese sandwich or anything. :(

The food here is delicious! Not only are their ribs and chicken amazing, but their homemade sides add to the experience. Highly recommend!

Soooo happy to find our long loved restaurant: Kojaks! We dined there frequently when they were located in South Tampa, and were not aware of their new location in Seffner until seeing it advertised on TV! Great tasting Bar-B-Q (Pulled Pork, Ribs, Sausage), Parsley Potatoes that are SO yummy! Real Southern Green Beans! Yummy Apple Cake like mom used to make! :-) Served warm with ice cream! The portions are hefty so you really get your monies worth! Clean Restaurant! Clean Restrooms! Ample Parking! We will be back!!!!! :-) :-)

Me and my husband went there today for lunch was very excellent from the service to the food. The best pulled pork I ever ate. The apple cake with ice cream on top was so delicious. The owner talked to us very nice man. We will definitely be going back .

Miss the old kojax here in south tampa but the food is the same. The food comes out fast.

Overall, it was good. Ribs were awesome. The meat came right off the bone. No sauce, just eat with the rub. Yum yum. Chopped BBQ meal is good. Remember that meat is put in a sweet BBQ sauce. Pulled pork was awesome. I added their sweet BBQ I could have gone without. The food was good, but a couple of sides we had had some odd flavors. Baked beans had a pumpkin spice flavor that was not my favorite. Collard greens are good but very high on vinegar. Cole slow is also good but high on vinegar.

Delicious food, inviting atmosphere, reasonable price and the best thing was the service! Will definitely come back!

11/9/23 - first time back since it moved from its location on Gandy to Seffner. Definitely a different feel but still the same great food! Never had a negative experience! Well run local establishment that I'm proud to support. The best ribs around and let's not forget those parsley potatoes!

Feels like home cooking with smoked chicken and yummy parsley red potatoes.... Order and pay up front and food is delivered to your table. Family serves and cooks and bake desserts -- DELISH!!. Also gives military and first responder discounts.

I had the ribs, and they were excellent. The pulled pork was just okay. I do think it's worth another visit to try other menu items.

First time eating here and it won't be the last. Ordered take out for the family and spent right around $75 on everything. Got 4 meals and a slice of the apple cake. I had the brisket and pork combo with beans and the parsley potatoes. Everyone was happy with the sides they chose but I was highly impressed with the moisture of the pork and the beef, a lot of times with BBQ the meat is so dry and then you have to soak it in sauce to moisten it up but everything we got was excellent. Son had the sausage and he loved it. Girlfriend had the chicken with macaroni salad and loved it. Me and the daughter had brisket and we'll be having kojaks again very soon!! Oh the apple cake, which I'm not supposed to have but it's excellent!!

So the S. Tampa location closed down and I was really sad. Now that I moved to Brandon, and found they have one here IT'S WAS ON!!!! Same great ribs, potatoes, and dessert! So happy to have found this location!

Best Ribs around. I have tried all there food, and it is all delicious. Always consistent.

Initial takeout and it was adequate for this price point. The chopped barbeque beef and chicken were very tasty. The pulled pork was missing a little pop of flavor; the texture was good, though. The ribs were pretty good(very smoky). The sides ranked in order: baked beans(I am not a fan, but their iteration was delicious), potato salad was refreshing and not too much mayo, parsley potatoes' texture was very good-need a little more flavor, green beans were ok. They didn't include the corn on the cob or macaroni salad, which is unfortunate. The corn muffin's texture(very dry) and taste were off. Overall, filling food for a great price.

Quick food but honestly not that great. Everything is prepared ahead of time and drenched in its own sauce. The extra sauces they provide at the tables are amazing though!

Our first time. We usually go across the street to Hungry Harry’s, owned by a friend of mine. The collards were amazing. We met the mgr. A very cordial woman. Kojak is missing one thing, sweet potato pie. We’re going again soon.

Traveling sales rep passing through Seffner and felt like some BBQ. This local restaurant knows how to bbq. Had combo ribs & chicken. The meat was dry rub style. Ribs had good release and chicken skin had a good snap. Definitely visit again

I heard good things had to try for myself Got two take out dinners they don't have french fries so I got their potato salad and macaroni salad also got pulled pork and their beef brisket I got to say I can barbecue better in my backyard than the food I got there they need to understand their sides have to be as good as their entrees and then they also have to understand the difference between overcooked beef and pork and moisten tender beef and point The beef and pork were both dry I wouldn't normally post anything but I'm very dissatisfied

We've eaten at Kojak's a few times & we've never been disappointed. If you like tasty barbeque, I recommend that you give this place a try.

Ribs were not particularly amazing and the same could be said for the beans. The Coleslaw was the best part.

We stopped here for lunch today and were pleasantly surprised with really good food. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful in suggestions for choices. They have daily specials. I had 4 piece rib dinner with red potatoes and baked beans. The beans are sweet beans and the lady at the counter said. My husband had the brisket and enjoyed it very much. The ribs are St Louis style with dry rub. I loved the Carolina sauce. Several sauces to chose from. We definitely would return and recommend to others.

This was my first time eating at Kojak's and it didn't disappoint. The food was hot and fresh, and Melissa was super nice and attentive to us. We will definitely be going back again and again. We tried the beef brisket, ribs, hot smoked sausage, garlic parsley potatoes, collards, cornbread muffins, and the macaroni salad. The macaroni salad tasted EXACTLY like how my late mom made it so it brought back so many memories for me. I even ordered some to go to enjoy later.

I absolutely love this place! The people the food the environment. It's hard to find a place that makes you feel at home but this place is the best. I've never been disappointed! Each and every time we come here it's just as good as the last. They have some of the best BBQ I have ever put in my mouth! I highly recommend!!

Will return -:) A down to earth bbq restaurant, with plastics. The ribs are delicious! My two sides, beans and greens are too soft and saggy, the he potato and Cole Slaw are better. The hot sauce is wonderful. I ordered a rib and chicken to go - I know you can’t take me anywhere. They sell their super hot sauce - Crazy Hot for $25 for three bottles. The lady gave me a little taster, which is but I like their regular hot sauce in the red plastic bottle - wish they sell this hot sauce instead. They’ve beers too.

Great bbq, and we come from Memphis. It's the closest we've found to the bbq from back home since we've been here! Great service and great food!

Casual dining. Friendly staff. Clean. The food was good. We both had Chicken and ribs. The flavor was perfect. Ribs nice and tender. I like that they did not smother everything in BBQ sauce. Instead they have multiple flavor options for you to put on yourself. We used the Mild and Sweet sauces which were both perfect.

Quick delicious lunch! 1/4 chicken and 2 sides is tough to beat!

I used to go to their restaurant by MacDill and was happy to hear it was the same owners! It was as good as I remembered. I had the Brisket, Ribs and some Collards! I would highly suggest it!

Honestly this is the worst BBQ in Tampa. It wasn't great in South Tampa and it's definitely not gotten better in Seffner. Since the move it's gone from trash BBQ to toxic waste.

Out of this world good food. We used to go to the south Tampa location for years. Somehow everything tasted better here in the new spot. Very clean. Got the 3 meat combo of ribs, saucy brisket, and spicy sausage... With baked beans and coleslaw. Topped off with hot pecan pie ala mode y'all! Surprised this place isn't packed. Anywhere else in town it would be jammed. Awesome hot sauce and mustard sauce.... All were tasty. Been to pretty much every bbq spot in the area. You can argue others may be good. This is without pause, the best.

I live near by & saw that this restaurant took the place of a Pizza Hut that use to be in the same location. After wanting to try their food, I read the reviews & thought they were positive enough to try. My husband & I dined in & was welcome with friendly hospitality from Melissa right away. There were also other people who heard me say it was our first time & advise I wouldn't be disappointed & they were right. They use to have their restaurant in the Tampa area & the person who told me I would like them drove all the way from Tampa so that speaks volume there. Overall, I definitely would come back for their ribs. They were seasoned & fell right off the bone. I had it with their garlic & parsley potatoes & bakes beans 😋 It was very good!

The new location in Seffner is just as awesome as the former location. Must haves are the bbq ribs, pulled chicken sandwich, parsley potatoes, and mama’s chocolate cake ala mode. Thanks, Melissa, for a wonderful dining experience!

Edit: Four (4) years later and the only thing that's changed from my review below is their address! No longer at their legendary BayShore Home but rather they are now operating out of a more clear cut restaurant setting opposed to before. All same pits and rotisseries have followed them to Seffner so again, you aren't missing out. This isn't due to new owners or management, it's still family owned by the same family! If you are in the mood for BBQ then this is your place, you won't regret going, you'll regret not having went! First of all, I'm surprised I haven't rated and reviewed this place sooner. I have been coming here since I was a kid so early 90s and never once has it disappointed. Food will be on your table 5 minutes after you order it. Always fresh and always hot. This is real BBQ done right! Rather than me writing any more and wasting your time reading this review, I will post a picture of my plate and you just hurry on in! Nothing much to say about this place, the food will do the talking itself. You must try it and if you are local this will become a staple in your life, if you aren't local you will wish you were so you can easily come back whenever you want.

Their ribs fall off the bone and the sides aren't for me, but I go for the meat.

Had ordered 1/4 chicken with parsley potatoes, and macaroni salad. It was the lunch special for Sunday. My party also had pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, cornbread, and sweet tea. The chicken had more of a baked texture, but was still tasty, as was the potatoes. The potato salad and macaroni salad had a good homemade taste. Pulled pork was tender and tasty. Cornbred and tea were standard. They have a daily lunch special which Is a great value. Will definitely be back.
