Kolam is my go to place for years. As they provide quality and fresh food and the customer service was outstanding.

I wanted to try Indian foods and I found Kolam. When I visited the place, they welcomed us and provided a great service. Also the food was tasty and authentic. Loved it!!

My husband and I used to love this place until we ordered takeout last night and not only was there a thin 2” bone in my butter chicken, but also a rodent foot!!! Absolutely repulsive. After calling, the restaurant refunded just the one dish, even though all the food went in the trash after that. The email response I received from management was hardly an apology and they chalked it up to having just hired “a new kitchen worker.” As if that makes it okay to serve rodent parts in your food?!? I hope the health department checks the conditions of their kitchen and that neither I, nor anyone else, gets sick. Suffice it to say, we will never order from/ dine here again.

We frequently go out for Indian food but this was our first visit to Kolam and it quickly became our favorite. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Lemon Rice, Onion Naan and Garlic Naan - everything was incredible and each dish was by far, the best we’ve had! To top it off, the service was exceptional. I have some severe food allergies including some ingredients commonly used in Indian cuisine and they were extremely accommodating. We already can’t wait to go back!

This restaurant makes the best recipes for vegetarian and meat! They were very helpful and gave us generous food offerings. The vegetarian sausage was very delicious. Thank you.

If you haven’t been in a while, you should definitely check it out again. We used to go a lot, then it seemed to go downhill a few years ago. But I think it’s changed owners relatively recently. Currently, it’s definitely my favorite of the four Indian restaurants on 25 between Monroe and the flagpole. Love the variety in the menu, and the inclusion of southern Indian dishes. Some of the other local places don’t have the more flavorful and diverse recipes that this place offers.

Best Indian food around, with plenty of vegetarian options, and the staff is able to accommodate for different spice levels while explaining their amazing dishes very well. Extremely friendly people working here, creating a relaxed, fun, and family-like atmosphere. Fantastic curries, delicious dal, and certainly one of the best Masala Dosas I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!

We recently celebrated our daughter’s first birthday party in Kolam restaurant.Party was an exceptional experience from start to finish.The staff was very helpful for everything including the decorations..We chose buffet for the party and there were a wide variety of options for food and it was so delicious..All these we got for an affordable price too.Everybody liked the party very much.The owner of the restaurant is a very Kind person and he offered us a complimentary meal weeks after….This is a perfect place to host a special event or even a dine in..We were completely impressed with the customer service and I highly recommend this place to everyone…..

Fantastic service and really awesome food. The owner went out his way and kept the restaurant open and letting us inside after closing time ( group of 20). Also made all the kids happy by offering them kulfi's. The 2 male staff were also wonderful and got our orders out correct and on time. 100% worth it to come back when in the area.

We were group of 20 & it was almost their closing time still FOOD & SERVICE was outstanding... NANI served us with big smile & patience .. they didnt just stay open late only for us but also gave kids complementary kulfi which was really nice of them :)

Had to delicious lunch of chicken in a cashew sauce. Over rice it was fantastic.

I visited Kolam for the first time last night, and it was a pleasant experience. The interior is beautifully decorated and very clean. We ordered the mixed grill platter and the chana masala, both of which were delicious. The service was good, but our drinks took a little longer than expected to arrive. Minor hiccup aside, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be returning soon.

I had the pleasure of experiencing the most amazing Indian food from Kolam. They surprised me by adding chicken Tikka Masala and also a sweet treat of rice pudding. Everything was cooked to perfection. It was my 3rd visit . I will return and the attitude made it all that much grander . Try it 👌😜 5 Stars

Visited this place on Sunday and they had buffet at that time and its really good. The staff is so friendly and the girl working there made me feel comfortable as I was trying Indian food for the first time and I totally recommend this guys.

The service and food had deteriorated after the change of management South Indian dishes such as Sambar, dosa etc are not offered at the buffet It basically North Indian cuisine under fake south Indian branding that sucks

The manager at the front desk was rude and the service was no better. Quality of food definitely compares to the service that was received. Do not waste your time and money. I would suggest India Raj Restaurant in Monroe. Funny you mentioned, irate impatient. I've ate at your restaurant with the Sunday buffet and regular dinner. I have credit card statements to prove it !!! As friends of mine wanted to try Indian food in the New Town area but suggested Raj restaurant since it was up the road in Monroe on rt 25. I just went with the flow, now they all agreed it was disgusting and the food was absolutely not fresh! Because I live in the area. Sometimes restaurants could be a hit and miss with the food and your place was always a miss ! But from what I hear the person who owned it before you did make better food. Reading the other reviews it clearly just not me. As a customer you had an attitude. Also as a driver coming to your facility to deliver your food for your customers absolutely rude. Since the food was not ready you threw me out the restaurant "wait outside" what you said. I then asked would you give me the food outside as curbside assistance since it's the pandemic , "Covid-19" . You told me to come back every 10 minutes to check to see if the food was ready. How is that fair for your customers who are ordering food and now it sitting there getting cold ? Is it fair for them to wait longer ? So now concerning me you obviously just didn't want me in there. There was only three cars in the parking lot and two tables in the whole restaurant that were being used. Because I was in my sweatpants you think your restaurant is that fancy ? You think the smell in your restaurant is desirable that I really want to stay there longer than I had too ? You lost me as the customer long time ago and for sure I will never accept any orders to help your establishment out !!! By the way you're no threat to me !!! You are welcome for me taking the time out to review you once again. Since you're so kind, I just wanted to add you should take the time for proper hygiene while dealing with customers. Yes, we can smell when you do not use deodorant and shower.

Under new ownership. The food was great before, now even better! Legitimate Indian spices with kitchen attentive to your preferences. A local "hidden treasure", not to be missed!

My husband and I ordered 2 chicken dishes and got extremely sick from Food poisoning. We have never been so violently ill and it was absolutely awful to experience. Will never order from here again. Do NOT recommend. Absolutely disgusting.

We went for the Sunday brunch and it was delicious!! The food was perfectly spiced. There was an awesome variety and the servers were so kind. The tikka masala was some of the best I’ve had on a long time. It was the perfect level of spicy. Enough to bring the heat and let you know it’s there. But not u enjoyable. The paneer was also delicious and creamy. Recommend everything they served and will go back!

The food was absolutely amazing. The butter chicken and the garlic naan was so delicious. The decor was lovely, there were cool hindi music videos playing in the background, and the service was great. Would absolutely recommend and I will be coming back!

Food was delicious, almost unbelievable! I told our waiter I wanted my food spicy and he made it perfect so that I would be sweating but could still just eat my fill. They were very nice, had good Indian music videos playing. 100% coming back here!!!

Very terrible experience with ordering from this place. Ordered pepper chicken dish with specific instructions for nut free as my son is severely allergic. What they gave us was black pepper chicken with lots of almonds in the gravy. The person on the phone had the gall to tell us that the dish was nut free and only had 'Badam' the Indian name for almonds. My son had to go to the emergency room to get treated. I will recommend people with allergies should stay clear of this place. Others please decide for yourself.

Today was our first time to eat at this great restaurant. We had a fabulous lunch some of the best food ever. My wife and I would both highly recommend this restaurant with such great food and service.

Had food from this restaurant many times before and they were good. This time I ordered Chicken, Lamb biriyani for takeout and they were very sour!! Couldn’t even finish 2 spoon. Also the chicken Chettinad curry was not good and I ordered Butter nan but was given plain nan. Very Disappointed!!

We absolutely love the food here and have been going to the restaurant and ordering out for years. Today, we tried the Monday lunch buffet and were very pleased with the experience. There were 6 different entrees, as well as an appetizer dish, tandoori chicken, and a dessert dish. There was fresh naan for the table and consistent service throughout our lunch. The food was flavorful, complex, and pleasantly filling. Excellent value and well worth going a bit out of our way. Highly recommend!

I'm fairly new to eating Indian cuisine and I have been ordering from Kolam for about a year, every dish I try is absolutely delightful and delicious. Tonight I tried lamb biriyani, outstanding.

If I could ,I'd give 10 stars Over the top place to dine. Owner is on the ball , with taking orders , seating people , bartending, taking phone calls and checking people out and taking care of take out orders. Food is outstanding. So happy a friend told me to go.

This buffet was absolutely amazing. I love Indian but I wanted to expand my experience with their food. Finding this buffet was an amazing way to try a bunch of different Indian cuisine. They had a great selection of dishes, veggie dishes, curries, Tikka masala, tandoori, hot foods, cold foods, sides, chutneys. Desserts and masala chai too! I came from waterbury which has amazing Indian places but I will for sure be back here again and again and I can't wait!

The best Vijayawada ( south Indian) biriyani used to be served from Brindavan in Milford. I tried Kolam for this and was very disappointed - the search continues....

We are fortunate to be able to eat out fairly often ( two or three times a week) which affords us a broad perspective from which to judge. To our neighbors we say go and keep them in mind when considering where to go when it’s time to eat out. To visitors of our area, be assured that if you’re in the mood for “ Indian”, you’ll find Kolam to be an authentic value. We eat there during the week but marvel at the their Sunday buffet for volume and variety. It’s a spectacular spread, presided over by the gracious and accommodating Ajai. Go and enjoy!

I must say that the food is good. I have tried lamb biriyani, dosa, chilli Gobi , tandoori chicken and butter chicken. All tasted very good. However, outrageously priced! Where do you find masala dosa for $15? When the bill comes, you'd feel like you have been in a high-end restaurant!! Not an every day meal.

Seriously the best Indian food I’ve ever had. Indian food is one of my favorite cuisines and I have never found a place as good as Kolam. When I was little my dad traveled to India a lot for work and so coming to the Kolam lunch buffet was a big bonding experience for us. They are the ones that introduced me to Indian cuisine! Best lunch buffet! And then I especially love the chicken tikka masala and chicken saag.

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! I love so many dishes! , Masala Dosa, Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Korma, and Chicken Vindaloo but my favorite food is an appetizer!!! "LASSONI GOBI: crisp corn battered cauliflower florets tossed in garlic infused tangy tomato" I LOVE IT!!! I can eat dishes of it! The place is very nice, I love the music, and the owners are very kind and will proudly explain anything you may have questions about! but honestly, it is all amazing!!!!

Kolam Restaurant in Newtown NOW has a New Chef/Owner as of May 2022, from the Northern Region of India (Punjab) Previous Owners were from Kerela, India. Which is the Southern Coastal Region of India. This is the core information, I’m sharing with all the Potential Patrons, since most of the Indian Restaurants in Ct are not even owned or run by Indians anymore. I was Born in the Northern Region of India, where the most Popular Indian Food comes from. I’m extremely fussy & passionate about food, Thanks to my Italian Bosses…….. Let’s get to the point, Food at Kolam reminded me of my Grandmother and my Mom’s, Cooking when I was Young/Teenager, growing up in Punjab. Also, Our Family used to go and watch the Rural Games @ Kila Raipur in Punjab, India, where a lot of Rural Food Vendors sold Scrumptious Indian Street food to the Crowd and that’s what Kolam reminds me off. So if you really want to enjoy an old world classic meal from Northern region of India, this is the place. I’m sure they’ll Change their Name in future to A Classic Punjabi Eatery. Pictures below are of Punjabi Kadhi Pakora, Chana Bhatura and Chicken Curry. It can’t be more Authentic than this, Period. It’s Nostalgic for me. Lamb pepper fry was too good , but pricey.

Well it's not easy being candid about our visit here. The welcome we got was on the frosty side when we arrived with our neighbors as a party of four..We were asked if we had a reservation as humorous as it that was considering the place was empty at 7pm.The food, samoas, lamb byriani, cauliflower dish were on the overcooked,greasy tasting side of things.Not sure there's much to reccomend here and we're far from critical normally.

We had our first online takeout order last night and had ourselves a feast! We are relatively green with Indian food so played it safe with butter chicken, lamb madras, garlic naan, lemon rice and samosas. We really enjoyed the level of spice and flavors! They included three different relishes which added extra depth, plus I added mango chutney and raita and it all complemented eachother beautifully 🥰. Food was thoughtfully packaged and included a free rice pudding like dessert. Will happily order again!

Always incredible food. Fresh, flavorful, and well priced for the amount you get (and make great leftovets). Great staff. Their COVID precautions are thorough without being intrusive. Whether dining in or taking out, this place is impossible to beat.

We've only visited Kolam once for dinner, but we had a very pleasant experience. The courses were authentic and flavorful, and the staff knew how to answer our questions and adjust flavors to our preferences. Naan was okay, but still very hot and fresh and a great addition to any meal. We definitely recommend trying this restaurant as we'll be visiting again!
