Excellent restaurant serving a great selection European dishes. Very kind and generous staff.

The food was fantastic. Worth paying for. Love that it’s they kind of food you can’t find everywhere. We wanted to eat somewhere unique during our trip to Bardstown and this was a great choice. Friendly staff, upscale atmosphere (which we didn’t realize would be the vibe, and they didn’t mind our street clothes), and delicious food. We had the Wiener schnitzel, chicken cordon bleu, and Kreso chicken. We cleaned our plates! Every bite was fantastic!

This place is absolutely amazing! The food, service and atmosphere is incredible and the owners went significantly out of their way to provide everything we desired. This is a “Do not miss” when you visit Bardstown, KY! One of the best dining experiences I have ever experienced!

This must be more of a hidden gem because it wasn't busy but it was SO delicious, would definitely recommend!!

The people were friendly, the place was very clean, and the food was fantastic! The Portion size was huge. I ordered Jaeger Schnitzel and my wife ordered Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Will definitely eat here again when in Bardstown.

Everything was exceptionally delicious...appetizers, entre, and deserts!!! If you haven't eaten at Kreso's then you are missing a fantastic dining experience!

We had a great experience here. The friendly staff gave us very good service. The menu is small but everything on it looked amazing. Would highly recommend the Corden Bleu and the Kresco’s chicken. We will definitely come back!

Wr enjoyed a wonderful dinner with our friends Saturday night. The owners are wonderful people and so incredibly accommodating. We all had something different and we enjoyed them all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Kreso’s. The menu is small, but populated by wonderful choices. I had the Kreso’s pasta, while my partner enjoyed the jagerschnitzel. The staff of the restaurant appeared to be members of the same family, all very friendly and kind. The meal was flavorful and plentiful, created with quality ingredients and pleasingly presented. You will not leave hungry. There is a well-stocked bar available, though I did not order from there. Over all, an extremely pleasant experience, and I would certainly eat there again.

Great food and service. We were served by one of the owners, Amira. She was wonderful and attentive without being annoying. Not knowing what Bosnian food was like but seeing schnitzel on the menu , had to try it. My wife had the Kreso's chicken and myself and sister in-law, the schnitzels . The appetizer we shared the stuffed mushrooms. Every was excellent. First time in Bardstown and will stop here again.

Our 4th visit as tourists over the past 8-10 years. When we are in town we eat here. Family owned, managed and worked. Eastern Europe menu. These folks have a truly American dream story. Ask. Great foods. Not really for young kids? Highly Recommend

Not too busy being a Monday but we enjoyed the goulash and the Jaeger schnitzel. Husband enjoyed the Bosnian salad as well. Good attentive service.

The food was excellent! My husband and I had two different entrees and both were even better than expected! Service was excellent, our server was always there when needed and extremely friendly! I would definitely dine here again!

This is a lovely environment, European cuisine, but very limited offerings in todays world. One of our party is GF! The waitress said their only offering for her was salad! Which was quite unacceptable! All of their dinners were with gluten noodles and a flour based gravy. The waitress admitted that several people were asking for GF meals but they felt no need to accommodate them. Her attitude was very unhelpful and we will never go back there!

The server provided the bare minimum. We asked for bread plates and she gave us only one for our party of four. I went to the bar and took three more plates for our party. Entrees did not come with salads. She did not refill our drinks and did not accept my gift card. She seemed to be bothered by any requests that we asked for.

Wonderful place. Limited menu of great variety. Enjoy real Eastern European cuisine. Highly recommend this family restaurant.

Old out dated. When you can actually catch them open, the food is mediocre at best.

I don't understand why, but I was told there were no tables when only two tables were occupied. The lady was rude and immediately walked away. Not what I am expecting in the town I live in.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the Goulash. The beef was very tender but not very flavorful. No real sauce for the egg noodles. No sides. Bread was nice.

Definitely and must try when in Bardstown. We enjoyed an excellent dinner while in town for a football game. The food and service were both exceptional and our experience was made even better when we realized later that night I’d forgot my credit card and the owner gave us his cell number to call if they were closed when we returned to pick it up. The hospitality of this entire town has always been impressive, from the students and fans at sporting events, to the local business owners who always make you feel welcomed.

The receptionist was visibly annoyed that we didn’t have a reservation, even though the place is empty. The food was less than good. Even though the place resembles an upscale restaurant, it seemed quite outdated and not well kept.

Fear not. Had the weiner schnitzel and Kreso's burger. Would have again. Skip the usual and go for something a little different.

This is a decent restaurant in a historic building with character. The service was wonderful and our entrees were good but not memorable in any way. We shared a Caprese salad, which was lacking the basil, so it started with disappointment. I had the Weiner Schnitzel and my wife had Kreso’s chicken. The ambiance in the dining area and bar is wonderful, but the men’s restroom was dark and dingy, and the trash was already overflowing when they had literally just opened for the evening. The staff were great and I really wanted to love this place, but with right at $80 spent with none of the food standing out as terrific, I can’t honestly give it 5 stars.

7:30pm on a Saturday night and we were asked if we were just coming for drinks. We said no. Then was asked to wait to see if still serving food???? So we left. Didn't want to inconvenience anyone, after all it is just a RESTAURANT!!!

Delicious traditional German Goulash and Schnitzel in a very nice setting for this historic downtown. Some other reviews have made negative comments about the service, but we found it very authentic. If you know any Eastern Europeans, you'll understand. We will definitely eat here again.

Noodles, noodles, noodles. Description said European dining. I’m a chef snd nothing European about the menu at all. Just because you plate on a white China plate on a white tablecloth doesn’t make you a European restaurant. Lol.

Enjoyed a very good Goulash and Chicken Kreso, along with a couple cuisine appropriate beers. May seem a little pricey but worth it!!

There was a sticker left on the tomato we were served in our appetizer. And after we were hatefully received by the waitress we didn’t feel comfortable mentioning it. The place was near empty and the waitress was visibly annoyed that we didn’t have a reservation and hesitated to serve us. We asked if it was okay to go ahead with eating there and she gradually warmed up to the fact that our money spends the same as people with a reservation. This is not a family friendly atmosphere or friendly atmosphere for that matter and I’m glad we didn’t have our kids with us. It was a Monday afternoon with all but two tables empty. So we paid $80 to be treated less than. Food was great though.

Very good goulash with noodles! Beef was tender with no fat. They were happy to accommodate a nondairy diet restriction. Nice family owned restaurant. Will visit it again.

This place is absolutely phenomenal in every imaginable way!! The Kreso family are an absolute delight to meet. Such very nice people and the food was amazing! 😋 The restaurant is in a beautiful historical theater with a really unique atmosphere!! A must try here in Bardstown! Thanks ya'll 👊🏻 ☝🏼 😊

The service was good. However the food was mediocre especially for the price. I have never had marsala served with egg noodles. they also seemed to have a large selection of bourbon but the lady said that most weren't for sale. Also who doesn't carry Old Crow?!

This place is a hidden gem! The service is amazing. It is family owned. We talked to our waitress at length. Her family story is very interesting! The food is great. Drinks and wine were spectacular. I got a white wine that our waitress recommended,Grgic (I usually don't drink white). It was really nice. I will be buying this at home. The atmosphere is perfect for a romantic evening. Ask to look in the back, as the building is a restored theatre. They do private parties and events there. We will be back!

Great food super friendly family business! Make sure and stop in and try their delicious food!!! They will make you feel right at home! Kreso chicken was excellent. Along with a caprese salad. We also had the stuff mushrooms and jaeger schnitzel. All excellent

Cool little restaurant with warm and attentive service. The owners are the sweetest couple serving delicious European fare. My husband had the Wiener Schnitzel and was delighted. It was the best he'd had. I had a Bosnian Salad - very light and fresh. We sat at the bar and were amazed at the 250 bourbon offered!!!! So much bourbon so little time! Merima and her husband are a treasure 😍. If anywhere near Bardstown go check them out you won't be disappointed.

Historic place with friendly owners and staff.

We were so happy we decided to go to Kreso's. It was a quiet and delicious dinner. They were even nice enough to make chicken tenders for a friend who is a pretty picky eater.

Best meal we've had during our stay. We used to live in Europe, and it was just as good. Highly recommend.

We went there after the bourbon festival. The chicken schnitzel was not at all fried like I was expecting some sauce and boiled chicken. My wife ordered chicken marsala again boiled and sauce was terrible. The noodles were terrible. I ordered a beer and my wife a glass of wine as you can see in the photo she at some point had a fly in it and almost swallowed it. We complained and the owner was very rude basically saying it not their fault. When I said I was going to post it he offered me $50. ended up leave no cost. and here is the post.

Had an early dinner at Kreso's before taking in the Old Kentucky Christmas Carol. The restaurant seemed to be family own, very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I had the Kreso's pasta and the serving was plentiful with a rich authentic Italian flavors. Nice selection of liquor and wines.

Ate dinner at Kresos Sept 12. The owner was a one person show- hostess, server and maybe even good. Jasper schnitzel was very different and good. A bit pricey but you are not rushed and can enjoyty avery goodmeal.

The food was good, not great, but it's old fashioned but nice. My husband really enjoyed his goulash. My Kreso chicken was a touch overcooked but a good, unique combination. They are understaffed so service is slow, but Mrs. Kreso lets you know that upfront. It is tired inside but, like most of Bardstown, hard to find a decent meal.

The staff was friendly, but the food was not good and very over priced. If that was a ribeye it was the lowest grade of meat available. Little to no fat or marble. Listed on the menu as as 14 to 16 oz. No way was it over 10 oz. I ordered it with potatoes because I can’t eat the noodles it comes with. Which is is a blessing because the egg noodles that came with my husband’s meal were just boiled noodles no flavor or sauce of any kind. I ordered my steak medium. It came out well done. $39.00 for steak and potatoes with no vegetables of any kind. We live in Bardstown, we will not return for another meal here

First time eating here, it's very rustic with a bit of flare as far as the atmosphere. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was good. The only slight complaint I have is the cost of the food but they did provide generous portions and I left stuffed.

The door had an open sign on it, and their website says they are open til 9 pm. We walked in at 7pm on a Friday. Two staff members noticed us a few seconds after we walked in, hesitated a few more seconds, and then told us they were closed. They said nothing else, and we left.

Family owned and operated restaurant with a European flair. The family immigrated from Bosnia and have three restaurants in the area. Portions are good sized and they have a huge selection of beer, wine, and spirits. We enjoyed the ghoulash, which was similar in taste to a pot roast and served with gnocchi and egg noodles. Highly recommend supporting this family as the owners are hard at work cooking in the back or serving guests up front and have been for 20 years!

Wow just wow, the food was awesome. I had the Jeager snitchzel and my wife had the cordon blue. The flavors were top notch. Definitely worth going back again.

This is family owned and run restaurant with the most amazing food! Both owners were at the restaurant serving and greeting their guests! You will feel so welcomed here, like coming home! Plus their selection of bourbons , ryes is so impressive - over 200. Must visit when in Bardstown or area!

We went with our reservations, but the were very accommodating. Our meals were fantastic! Large wine pour. If you are staying in Bardstown do not miss this restaurant.

Horrible experience. There is a reason there were only two other customers here. Not busy, but mixed wrong drinks, cocktails poor quality (c’mon - it’s the bourbon capital… Google how to make an Old Fashioned). Food very mediocre, and probably fine if you want anything served with cream sauces and on pasta. EVERY dish is served on pasta with a cream/wine/white sauce. There isn’t a vegetable in site here. No real cooking is happening. Sorry, but we expect more when paying to dine out. Not a good experience and wasted one of our two evenings in town.

What a disappointment. Three of us Ordered bourbon old fashioned, came out as bourbon Manhattan, they were not good at all. They corrected the order, this was the absolute worst old fashioned I have ever had, don’t know what was in it…..terrible. Food was mediocre, one of us had Goulash which was under seasoned, another was a chicken dish, chicken was tough and the angle hair pasta and shrimp. No idea where all the great reviews come from. Huge disappointment for the price.

We were here visiting from out of town and we did not have a good experience at all. We did not have reservations, so we were going to leave bc it is what it is, we had no idea. But they said they had a table for us. Okay…sounds good to us. We both ordered Diet Coke (or Diet Pepsi) whatever it was, the carbonation was messed up, okay, that’s fine, we will take waters. So we ordered water and I ordered a glass of wine. Ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer. It came with no sauce, typically crab cakes always come with sauce but we didn’t say anything and just ate them. Still no drinks at this time. We then got bread delivered…still no drinks Our food then shows up. Still no drinks. I had to ask for my wine and our waters. We both ordered the Kreso’s Pasta and it had no flavor whatsoever, I was very surprised But we didn’t complain and still ate it. Our experience was NOT a good one at all!

Excellent food. Other than the large selection of bourbon it is very European. The owner was present and helping some very young servers who were polite but not very experienced. They were part of the soccer team.

This family-run restaurant comes with quite a backstory about their life in Bosnia and move to the US. I forget if it's in the menu or if I found it via google. The service is very friendly. First we got two orders of stuffed mushrooms. Very delicious and big. All four of us enjoyed the regular weiner schnitzel. Can't find that everywhere, and it was good, and plentiful. Comes with both noodles and rice. You should try Kreso's.

We picked Kreso's almost at random - they had space without a wait. We left delighted. The food was delicious. We tried the homemade goulash and schnitzel. They were both served with egg noodles and buns made in their kitchen. The staff was friendly, polite and attentive. Despite the white table clothes, it has a very relaxed feel.

I can not say enough good things about Kreso’s! The food and staff are absolutely amazing. We have been here numerous times for dinner and decided to have our 25th anniversary celebration here! Mirima and her staff are rockstars! Everything was perfect!

This place is a Gem! We had goulas, chicken kreso, kreso pasta and kids had spaghetti. We also had salad and few cocktails! First time coming here amd we will for sure come back! Place looked super cool and staff was friendly! They give you some fresh baked bread with butter. Over all really cozy, chill place

We arrived into town on Friday evening and went to Kreso's at 6:30pm, they close at 8pm and was greeted by a woman that was sitting a table with a group of people and asked if we had a reservations although where she was sitting was only 1 table with people at it we were told that since we didn't have a reservation they couldn't serve us. Also note there was a sign out front that said open so I guess it only open to the people sitting with her.

Food was excellent. The owner took care of us and was really nice.
