The opening was not necessary. Speaker was very hard to understand. History of the wine region would have been beneficial if you could understand the speaker. The food was better than average. Wine was good. The main dining area very noisy. The server’s could not give you any information about the menu. Over all experience was good. First time diner but would return if the menu was to our liking. I must add the servers were very cordial.

Super disappointed. Made a reservation using open table and Google for this even Valentines. Drive all the way out only to find the restaurant closed. No mention of closure online. Visited the Facebook page and web page and had no indication that you would be closed. So here we are... parents of 4 kiddos driving around trying to find dinner 😞 Update your website/ remove the ability to make a reservation. 👎🏼

This is a hidden gem! Great safety and lots of social distancing. Portions are huge . Food quality superb. Waiter selected our wine for us and it was excellent. We plan to visit here often this summer. Addition of a Wednesday steak night looks terrific.

Expectation was a restaurant-like atmosphere (vs kitchen) and a more intimate environment like most French restaurants. The menu was limited and the wine choices were below average. One of the red wines we ordered had been open for appx. a week per the waiter and it was awful. And the foods flavors were so-so. We loved that the chef came out and was so engaging. He's truly passionate about teaching his students. For Le Bistro to compete with all of the French restaurants in Houston, they really need to amp up the game in each area.

It is always a good time at Le Bistro. Although, the wines I want, they're usually of of, there is always a comparable suggestion. The food is superb and the service is top notch. I only urge Le Bistro to be a bit more imaginative with the vegetarian/gluten-free options.

Great value and nice change in dining after Thanksgiving. Aside from the wine conference dinners, I have dined here several times for lunch. The staff was much more open and easy to understand during those experiences. The only feedback have for improvement is for staff to speak up and speak clearly. When asking what a certain item is called it really helps when it is not a term one is used to hearing i.e. a French term for a dish or type of meat. For the dinner it really seemed like they were really not prepared and I picked up the sense of being unsure or uneasy which is understandable since presumably they are students of the Culinary Institute. I enjoyed great company and delicious food.

Food was very good, although not quite up to the restaurant's usual very high standard. Perhaps, this was because we ordered from the Restaurant Week menu. Serving sizes were large. Unfortunately, the champaign was served at room temperature and did not cool adequately until the meal was half over. Disappointing.

We went for Houston Restaurant Week because their menu was so diverse! Escargo, BBQ Ribs, French Onion Soup, Salmon. It ALL was so good! We shared a chocolate cake (which wasn't included in the HRW price, but was really good!). Prices were very reasonable and being able to watch the cooking was great fun. Service was fine, but could have been a bit better as the restaurant wasn't crowded. We had to track her down to get our check. NOTE: they don't take cash. Overall, loved the restaurant and will be back! Will also bring my grandson for a Jr. Cooking Class!!

Server not so good , she never had a real eye contact with us , she need more love for her job to be a server. Our main course was cold , we request medium rare , was done , sauce was cold , French fries was with a smell and taste burnt , bland. Lack of salt the food , dessert was disappointing , chocolate cake not good. My son don’t eat it , we had high expectatives for this place. Sorry we doesn’t like it . We are been in Europe and this is so far from a French cuisine.

“Wednesday Steak night“... Invited friends (6) to show one of my favorite French restaurant in Houston. This time I was disappointed by the very poor service and the quality of foods. The butter was on the table but we wait more than 30 minutes before we can have our “cold” bread served. Where is the baguette from my last visits (March)? The best in Houston! The charcuterie plater was okay, and the “Steak” doesn’t look same as on the add. One of the dessert was run out... already ....and it is only 6:30pm Our night was save by the excellent atmosphere and wine. We ordered 3 bottles.

It is a little unsettling to be the only people in a restaurant on a Thursday night. This was our first time, but not our last, as the blips were not serious, and when they got it right it was superb. I was probably more forgiving because the overall price of the meal was ridiculously low. We started with the charcuterie plate, the cheese plate and shrimp bisque. There were superb flavours and textures in the highly diverse selection of meats, and the cheeses demonstrated a wide range from a Parmesan to a Brie, both plates with little flavour teasers to match, like caramelized onions (a French kitchen labour of love), chutneys and mustard. The shrimp bisque could have been hotter, and was very slightly gritty, with the overwhelming flavour being the shell stock, so a little unbalanced. I chose the duck, which came out with a lot of different pureed vegetables and some peas, but all a little on the cool side, on a cool plate. My companion's surf and turf was good too, but that also was not at a temperature I would prefer. Their wine list is limited, but has some very good choices at reasonable prices and the Chablis we chose went down nicely, and then I switched to a Malbec by the glass for the duck. The desserts were outstanding, and worth the trip on their own. Lots of aromatics with dark chocolate and subtle herb flavours, although the lavender crème brûlée was the old school French style, finished in the oven, and not up to date. The cost was shockingly low, and more than made up for the temperature problems, as I have had the same difficulties in restaurants costing three of four times as much. Three appetizers, two entrées, two desserts (plus a complimentary one), a bottle of good Chablis, a couple of glasses of a nice red, and a cappuccino came to less than $140 with a heavy tip included. They did have a great deal of half off bottles of wine before 7:00. We had one server, and she was fairly attentive, and despite being new, did quite well.

The service was not at all good. One server for 3 tables. The server wrote our food order down. She placed the wrong order. The food was overwhelming with spices. We went for stake night. The steak had weird flavors. The steaks were placed on two different pures. It was such a mess. We did not have as good experience. Slow service. They did not give us steak knives until after we had gotten our food. Bread was given to us after our appetizers. The people at my table including myself had bad stomach aches all night. Such a disappointment.

We entered and was served water... never asked if we wanted anything else. I told him we wanted coffee. The table all started with crab cake. three cakes all cooked to a different degree, mine was crispy outside but runny inside. one was cooked almost correct. the server was very quiet and disengaged. I asked what he recommends and he said he has not been beck long enough to try the menu... I ordered duck and it was over cooked to the point of jerky I did not eat most of it. The root vegetables were just a blur of starch to many to much. The salmon had the same root vegetable and it was to heavy for the perfectly cooked light and flaky salmon, The pork lasagna was terrible to me.... My son ate all of it and liked it said it was just to sweet. we ended the meal with a high note... casino cake, mouse cake and creme brulee.

The service was excellent and so were the desserts, specially the Creme Brulee. My fiancé liked her Salmon and said it was not the best but pretty good. However, my steak was first served rare (I asked for medium) and it had no taste. It was very under seasoned and I had to add salt to make it taste better. The same with the spinach/bacon salad...it had almost no dressing and also lacked salt. I was very dissapointed in the lack of flavor in those two dishes.

It was a very pleasant dinner. It's so nice to dine in a Houston restaurant that you don't have to shout across the table to carry on a conversation. This is a culinary school. We were the only ones in the restaurant that night. The lamb chops and steaks were tough and did not set well on our stomachs. Salads and deserts were good. The food was fabulous. I had the scallops and risotto for my first course. Soooo delicious. For my main I had duck. Very tasty but some of the duck was a bit tough. Party of 3 for a birthday lunch - chose to order from the Houston Restaurant week menu. Great variety and great value. We all 3 LOVED the crab cakes although they seemed to be pre-prepared and only heated and plated. We each ordered the Wagu Beef 1) Medium, 1) Medium Rare and 1) Medium Well. The wait staff delivered our steaks to the wrong person at our table who ordered them so we all had to shift our meals around after taking the first bite. The Wagu seemed more like a rib-eye with so much surrounding fat and gristle that it consumed about 1/2 of my steak. Although flavor was good it needed more seasoning and was very tender once I received my correct steak (medium rare). Wait staff could be a little more attentive. Observations in the kitchen area - there were a few chef/students without a hat at all or even a hair net. 1 girl with a long pony tail had her pony tail pulled thru the opening in her baseball cap - seemed a bit odd that her hair was long and not pulled up in a bun or at least hair net. No one in the kitchen had on gloves when they were handling the prepared/cooked food while plating. The hostess went into the kitchen area after handling money/credit cards to cut more bread - she did not wash her hands, did not wear gloves and did not have on a hat. Just some thoughts to pass along as it appeared 2 chef instructors entered the food prep area also without hats. They did not, however, handle food. Overall it was a good experience and we will be back - just passing along some thoughts/observations.

We were there 2 years ago for HRW and were extremely impressed with everything and looking forward to our visit this time. We had to wait 20 minutes to even be able to order our wine or food. They seemed short staffed, even though it was not that crowded. They were out of one of the choices for appetizer and dessert. The entrée and dessert took much too long to be served. The crab cakes were fair, but too breaded. The salmon was excellent. The steak portion was very good and cooked perfectly, although a little too fatty. The vegetables that came with the steak were a joke. I got one small carrot, one small snap pea and 2 thin pieces of a green bean. My husband had one small carrot, and 2 small spears of asparagus. The servers were friendly and trying hard and apologized frequently for the service, but we will not be going back.

Very nice. The restaurant is part of the Culinary School so you get to see the kitchen but also sit in a very pleasant dining room. The food was excellent. The service was very pleasant. Driving by the culinary school I've always wanted to stop in and try Le Bistro. I'm glad I did. Impeccable service, very good food. I look forward to coming back.

These folks denied my guest and I seating citing they had no visibility of my Open Table booking despite being shown the Open Table reservation on my guest's smart phone! Then, I got involved and still got no where with Roxanne. After being seated at a dissapointing and different restaurant, le bistro called me to confirm they found my reservation afterall. Too late! You get an "F" for technology interface and customer service. I have marked food as "good" assuming that it rates at least that mark.

The service and menu items have improved since last year. The foods look and taste are exceptional. Wait staff are friendly and attentive. Don't be shy to give constructive criticism to wait staff, since some of them are "in training" class. I recommend the restaurant for a nice dinner. Dinner entree runs about $20.

Usually we are quite satisfied. However this time, we were given the wrong menu. We ordered, then 30 minutes later the waiter returned with a new menu. The starters were served within 15 minutes. However the main course took 50 minutes to receive. My entrée, the rack of lamb, was quite fatty. I was disappointed because this is my "go-to" place for special occasions.

My wife and I celebrated our 34th anniversary last Saturday. It was a bit confusing at the front door. This is a school, first and the entrance is just that an entrance into the school. We were greeted by a young man who showed us to our table and gave us the low-down on Le Bistro. Great food, well displayed and cooked to perfection. The staff is in training and it shows, but if you are willing to let the small stuff slide, this is the place to have a special dinner.

Nice dinner for our anniversary. Not many people. The chocolate lava cake was perfectly cooked (with a molten heart, very important!), same for the beef (Tournedos). As only 2 tables were booked, the service was fast enough (not sure how they size the staff depending on the number of tables booked). We will go back!

Le Bistro should have stayed closed. The staff are inexperienced and the service was poor. Food was nothing close to what was on the menu and our salads were not edible. The setting is lush and tropical. Jazz music set a nice ambiance. This was one of PV’s top restaurants at one time but has fallen to the bottom.

This was a huge disappointment. There were only 8 people in the restaurant.... on a Saturday night. Apps were not cooked properly. Returned Duck as it was over cooked and too tough to chew & swallow. The lamb over cooked.l but had decent flavor. Scallops under cooked. New “Chef” has a long way to go to be up to level as when Chef Kris was in charge. Cold & unappealing atmosphere. Will nor return

We were greeted immediately when we entered the door. Waiter was polite and attentive throughout the entire experience and presented himself as if we were truly at a restaurant in France. The place itself looked very nice and the bread brought to the table was as good as I have ever had. Menu was limited to the Houston Restaurant Week for Harvey relief, but what I did have was phenomenal. Scallops were cooked to perfection. NY strip is definitely one of my least liked cuts of steak, but it was actually very good here. Desert was also exceptional. We will definitely be adding this place on the “return to” list.
