Chile Verde plate with 2 eggs on top were very good. The meat was so tender. I recommend trying it. Good food!

If you want real authentic Mexican food this is the place 3700 North Figueroa Street you must try the steak picado dinner and ask for their homemade green salsa I drink it like if it was soup....lol.. it's a very old school place you can tell by the pics I've been coming here over 17 years now WoW RIGHT it deserves like over 10 Stars there's only room for 5 here!!

This is a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Family owned, and it's a landmark in Highland Park. I love coming here every once in a while for their chiles, flautas and other mexican breakfasts. Parking can be a problem, and please note that this place only serves breakfasts and lunches

The machaca burrito is so good bean and cheese burrito is delicious The beans are great home style flavors

The portions are generous. The taste and quality are great. It’s a no frills joint with 50 years of history and pride in being a local institution. I will be a regular!

The staff is friendly, quick and efficient. The beans and rice are delicious. I got carnitas this time and while they are flavorful, they're served in chunks with too much fat. This will not stop me from going back, the food is great! I usually get Chile Verde which is amazing!

Honestly, for being mexican food, it lacked flavor. Their menudo lacked flavor. The steak in the burrito my son got was tough, like beef jerky almost. Their spanish rice is plain, but the frijoles are good. Street parking is available only from what I saw. We probably won't be returning.

They finally accept card! Lol 😆 Always a great meal in the neighborhood. My recommendations are the hard shell tacos, chili relleno burrito, and always carnitas.

One of those old hole in the wall neighborhood restaurants growing up when it was cash only. A family ran joint where the food is still great to this day. In my opinion, it is one of the best places for hard shell shreaded beef tacos. Highly recommend.

It’s all about the green sauce!!!! This place has been here for years and never disappoints. The chili verde burrito is incredible and so is the cheese enchilada. Simple but absolutely perfect. What ever you decide to get you must must must get the green sauce!!

We ordered the Enchiladas Verdes plate with a side of potatoes and flour tortillas. It was delicious. The staff was so friendly and attentive. They even set us up with a table outside since we had our furry friend. Thank you Frank, Hector, Jesse and Roy. We will definitely be coming back. ❤️

Went to L.A. to spend some time. We got here and had menudo. It was superb! The champurrado was some of the best I've ever tasted!

11-12-23 I've been here several times. I'd forgotten how noisy it was. It was hard to carry on a conversation because it was hard to hear my companion. The food took 30 minutes to arrive. My rice was cold. My companion's enchilada was cold. I may never go there again.

Good old school Mexican comfort food. I recommend the Steak picado burrito, Torta de milanesa, huevos con chorizo plate. It's a nice little time capsule in the community.

This place is owned operated by my grandpa and grandma, well not actually mine but someone's great grandparents no doubt. They are really friendly and the comfort that comes over you when you order, you can tell by the enthusiasm yet humbleness from El Don (the owner) that you are about to be treated like family just for stopping by for some food...just like when you visit the abuelos. The steak picado and The chile verde burritos are 🤌🤌🔥🔥🔥 not mention they don't cost and arm or a leg 👌. Whatever you order its all good, those were my picks for a quick bite UNDER $10, Everything taste amazing and offers most of what you ate as a kid that actually taste like Mom was in the kitchen...even menudo but thats only on weekends. LOS ANGELES LANDMARK! Parking is a bit thin but its totally worth the flavor, taste and service!!!

This is my local joint for Mexican-American fare. They don't offer chicken, fish, buche, cabeza or alcohol. They are super friendly, and have great burritos, enchiladas, rellenos and beans. The beans are great because they are home made with 'love', AKA manteca. Don't expect tiny limp tacos, which I hate anyway. Theirs are big and hard, (or soft if you ask.) street parking is usually available.

Such a great find for our family after visiting Heritage Square Museum. Nothing fancy, but delicious Mexican food. Our server, Pancho I think, was very friendly and explained the menu options to us. We will definitely return.

Historic joint, great down to earth server. Decent food, fried pork and rice were better than refried beans, at reasonable price, but limited options (no chicken or seafood). No need to change atmosphere, but place could use a little freshening up.

This is a bare bones place that serves you a flavorful authentic meal. The sheriff's department and PD frequent this restaurant because it's that good!!! Pricing is competitive and worth every cent for the delicious meal that you will enjoy. Parking may be challenging at peak times. You'll appreciate a walk after your meal.

The food is okay and service is okay. It's a little pricey but everywhere is pricey. I always get the burrito because it's the cheapest price for a burrito at $8. But lately they always forget to add rice or beans or cilantro and onions. I had to go back a few times to add my missing ingredients. The guy that takes my order always messes up my order and he up the prices when the owner isn't there. Will not be going there anymore.

My kids loved the beans and rice. I personally only liked the rice. Machaca shouldn't have cilantro. It made my stomach hurt I didnt even finish half my plate. The salsa has no flavor what so ever and they take forever to serve Also the parking is horrible.

My son just moved into the neighborhood and we tried La Abeja for a quick dinner. A steady stream of local customers which is always a great sign of quality! Nothing fancy but delicious food. We ordered the vegetarian and pork w/green sauce burritos. Customer service was friendly and Poncho is a rock star.

I'd given La Abeja Restaurant an 'excellent' mark in virtually every regard -- service, food quality, interior design & space, etc., topped off with an announcement that we'd be letting the word go out to b sure to dine at Pat's, and that we were going to return with friends in short time. Eg., will be there, in fact, tomorrow (3/5/19) morning. SO wha'd'heck happened, anyway?!??

This is a good neighborhood Mexican food joint. Honest homestyle cooking, extremely affordable. Only gripe is that the beans are too salty so I stick with the rice which is delicious 😋

My family has been coming here for decades. The wait time can be a little crazy especially if they are packed but it is so worth the wait. I've tried nearly everything on the menu and it's just all so good. Carnita mojado burrito is my favorite & menudo on the weekends.

Server Pancho, was the best and gave a detailed background about the restaurant's history. Feels like you're eating at a family members house and portions are generous. Chips and salsa are not available but you will be satisfied with your entree. Breakfast is served all day. No hot beverages available during hot months but coffee is always available. Small single restroom in the very back of restaurant. Popular with locals. Steak picado and chile rellenos were my favorite. Potatoes are bland but all items are made to order so you can add jalapeno to a dish or ask for no salt if you prefer. Choice of flour or corn tortillas. I forgot to take photos as I was meeting family for late lunch and we were thoroughly enjoying the company and great food. I would love to try their breakfast items in the future. I enjoyed the colorful paint on the exterior of this restaurant. See for yourself!

Chille Relleno burrito, bean and cheese, chille Colorado burrito amazing for take out, and chille. Wet Asada burrito 🌯 are also great. For a low price definitely the spot when you don't want to cook. Uther dishes 😋. Try them out. For the kids the best bean and cheese burrito can't stop talking about them.

The green enchiladas are some of the best I’ve ever had and the service is incredibly friendly and polite. One time I showed up when they were only taking cash and was a dollar short and once I realized offered to go to an ATM but they insisted it was fine and gave me the food anyway. Great family owned place. You should go!
