Best Spanish food in Waterbury!!

This place has been here for 25 years and was originally from the lower east side in Manhattan in the 90’s !?!? Family combo prices like u are in the 90’s. Don’t walk- run. Super clean and truly a Spanish staple.

I enjoy the food from this restaurant 😋 I usually get the same thing every time but I'm never disappointed when I do. I don't speak Spanish and they do speak English but since coming here I have learned a bit of words and my favorite meal I can order in Spanish now They helped me. So thank you 😊

I visited this place and the truth is I felt like I was in my country, the Dominican Republic, an authentically Latin menu, I want to come back again.

I was sooooooo mad when I got home! I should have got an extra ome because the 1st one was delicious. I live in NY but had a meeting out there for my job. I wanted Dominican food and saw this place had high reviews on google. As a fellow Dominican myself, might I say that was some of the best Dominican food I have tried so far in CT! It was fresh, the price was low, and the portion was perfect! When I go back I will grab a few pictures and add them to this review!

The food was great, the service was amazing and it was all priced perfect. There’s no reason that everyone who eats here should not give a five star rating. Must try piña colada slushy. I wish I took pictures, but I was too busy eating.

I have visited this place a couple of times, the truth is that I have enjoyed the food (always fresh and freshly made), the attention, and the portions are adequate, and the reasonable price I definitely recommend it.

It was excellent. As a non Waterbury native I stopped in and was a little overwhelmed by the options. One of the employees gave me the rundown on what to get, explained options and pricing. Super pleased with the service and food. Will go back next time I’m in the area.

I ordered a potato ball and it was disgusting. It was stuffed with tuna but definitely not beef. Very disappointed. Food tastes old.

Large selection of Spanish foods. Yellow rice, white rice, beans, pork/pernir, sweet plantains, baked chicken and pepper steak just to mention a few. Atmosphere is good, small parking lot. Food is amazingly delicious, a little pricey but worth it for the portions you get. Staff is friendly as well. If your hungry and want some leftovers, I strongly recommend this place.

I had a taste for Spanish food and this restaurant had good reviews so I thought I'd give it a try. This restaurant deserves the 5 star reviews it has. After I arrived outside the restaurant I was greeted by the amazing smells of food cooked with love coming from the kitchen so I was eager to get inside. A nice size restaurant with plenty of seating and a huge selection of freshly prepared and cooked food. The restaurant was booming with business, plenty of customers ordering takeout or sitting down to enjoy some great food. Like I said a huge selection food from fried fish, salmon, stewed pork, fried porkchops, sweet plantains, white rice, yellow rice with beans and so so much more. I ordered brown rice with pork and onions mixed in with bbq ribs and I ordered yellow rice and beans with fried fish for my mom and a large passionfruit juice and some more items. I normally complain about prices but this is one restaurant that, yes the isn't cheap, however you get what you paid for and that's all that matters to me. Nice size portions to match the price charged and foods that taste just as good as it smells and looks. I'll be a regular customer. Count on it

I catered from the cazuela for my Christmas party, let me tell you there pernil was slamming, potatoe salad was fresh and the rest of the food was great. I would catered again from them we really enjoyed the food.

First time.. At a friend's suggestion. Parking is ample but not free, during the week. Free on Sunday. Decor is kinda carribbean meets industrial chic. Very urban area, so you know what to expect. The variety of food is vast, so get ready for "OMG what should I order?". I found the menu to be a bit confusing because the combos seem very expensive... but they are for family sized portions. I did not see pricing for individual sized portions. The waitress just guided our order based on our party of two. Everything looked amazing and, smelled even better. I ordered stewed beef with yellow rice 😋. My boyfriend ordered roasted chicken, salmon and white rice. He said it was very good. Zero complaints.. I can't tell you about prices because I did not see the bill. I am guessing it was ok, because, I did not see his eyebrows raising. Definitely on the repeat list.

The escabeche de yuca was terrible! The yuca was super hard and middle vein was not removed! The Mangu looked like watery mash potatoes, the fish looked awesome, bit needed some seasoning! The best thing was the Chicharon!

The food was OK, butcthecplacecis a roach motel.. We bought our food and sat at the restaurant, then no longercthan a minute later several roaches start to crawl on the walls. No good.

I’am not a happy customer with this restaurant. I ordered from this restaurant two mofongo dish. The restaurant did not send me the sauce for the two mofongo I ordered. mofongo without sauce is horrible not happy.

Excellent service and food is always fresh and right out the kitchen nice and hot 🔥. Oh and can't forget how clean the restaurant is...Paraiso is and will always be my favorite place hands down..💯💪🏾🙏🏽

Food is okay. You have to watch the ladies at the register though. They will try to charge you. One time I was told my food was $13.00 by the male server and when I got to the register she charged me $18.00. and this was not the first nor the only time.

I only give 3 stars for atmosphere because of the location. It's not easy to just park and enjoy a meal there. However, we love the food and service. We mostly stop for takeout.

This place has been around as long as I have been alive. I have never eaten something from here that was bad. The chicken here is always cooked well. Highly recommend.

3 of us went for a Dominican breakfast. The food was ok. The service was confusing. They had dine in, and we sat ourselves. However, you had to order as if it was take out. We ate out of take out tins, and the food (including the eggs) were pre-made in warming stations. I can say it was not how I envisioned my breakfast nor dine in service. Admittedly, I have not dined in here since just before the Covid lockdown 2020. The breakfast must be popular because it was all ready buffet style.

I thought by getting this food I was charged 9 dollars and the ribs where all bones no meat at all I had to use a knife to get the lil bit off of the bone just to put it in the rice

This place used to be good, my go to. Recently they have been the absolute worst prices increase every week. My family and I buy combos from here at least 4 times a week and every week there is an increase in price and when brought to the staff‘s attention they respond with “ hun you have to deal with it I don’t know what to tell you” that is unprofessional and they have lost loyal customers. How is a combo of CHICKEN over $30 when the separate pieces add up to less than that?? Extremely rude staff that doesn’t even answer customer’s concern. Wouldn’t have minded paying if they were at least friendly.

The prices are awesome to all the food you get. For between $20-$30 you get a full meal including A salad and a 2 litter soda. Plus you choice of the main course. Buen provecho, Bon appetite and Enjoy!!!!

When I want something light, I order soup. No Carrots, EXTRA chicken. Mind Yu I pay for Extra chicken. I get home & No extra chicken & carrots inside. What the...? They don't listen & still take your Extra money. Sad. ALL that chicken on display & y'all can't cut up some of that chicken & put it in the soup? Very, very DISAPPOINTING!!!
