Excellent food, I recommend the churrasco, very 👍 very good 👌..

It's one of my favorite places to go for Ropa vieja. One or 2 waiters that need customer service training, but other than that, the food is great.

Food not quality like before becoming cheaper portions

My wife and I took our friends out after church on Sunday. We were looking to introduce our friends one from India and the other from Angola to good Cuban food. I ordered Rice with beans and chicken crackling and an order of sweet fried plantains s and fried plantains. My wife ordered a pork steak and plantains and our friends ordered stewed goat rice and cassava. We each enjoyed our plates and shared with each other so that we all had a chance to taste a variety of plates. We sat and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere of the restaurant. An itinerant performer entered the restaurant and was given permission to perform two songs accompanied by a recorded track. He sang very well. He walked around receiving tips from the restaurant patrons. We each topped off our dinner with a cafe con leche. The overall bill was quite reasonable for four people.

This restaurant is family owned and they have been around for over 40 yrs. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.

I bought a cuban sandwich the ham was old the pork was dried out I asked for mojo the man didn't bother to put any mojo at all. He was rushing to make the sandwich. Charged me $8.80 waste of money.

The food is excellent, but I think the dishes lack a bit of presentation for the prices they have, and the service is very attentive but does not speak English, so my friend didn't understand anything and I had to translate for him.

Fire alarm started blaring while we waited for food. Other than that, skirt steak and flattened chicken was very tasty. Lemonade comes in a large takeout container so heads up. Orange juice is freshly squeezed.

The food was excellent. I had mofongo with fried pork. I also ordered fried Yuka. My friend ordered lechón with onions and side maduros. Everything was delicious must try if you're in this area.

I grew up in this restaurant. I'll always remember a billion mirrors lining every inch of the place. It's unique in that aspect because I don't recall going to any other location with that setup. That's what stood out to me as a kid. My father always brought my family there for dinners & I'd make funny faces into the mirror until someone would smack me. Regardless, this was always my go to restaurant once I became an adult. My brother & I would casually mention it & immediately think, yep! We barely even had to discuss it. As soon as the thought came up, we were there. That's how insanely good the food was. Just the idea had us salivating for Churrasco. No, not the baby ones either, we were full throttle, give us everything you got! So this was our spot. Whether it was a quick steak sandwich, espressos during lunch time, or a full on churrasco extravaganza, we never passed up the opportunity. We even mentioned this restaurant to friends as being the best, not just in Union City, but all of the tri-state area! I even had one friend of Puerto Rican decent who described it as the most authentic Cuban food you can find. My friend expanded on his appreciation. He explained that truly authentic Cuban food doesn't rely on fancy décor or chic waiters. A genuine Cuban restaurant is essentially an extension of the owner. It's essentially a mom & pop. You go there for the food & you leave having experienced it for all that it is. It was no surprise to me that my younger sister wanted to go there. She explained to my mother that La Churreria was her preference as she too loved the restaurant & that she'd be happy to spend her birthday there. We made sure to bring my entire family. We had a lot of first timers! Unfortunately, things started to look bad from the start. The mirrors were still there, my nephew had a blast with the weird faces. Yet, no one was paying attention to him to warrant a smack because the restaurant was almost entirely empty. To expand on that, as empty as it was, it took about 15 minutes to use a restroom. In their defense, it's a smaller restaurant. So you can't fault someone taking their time in the bathroom. I just found it very odd that a waitress came over to knock on the bathroom to rush the person out. It appeared to me that the older gentleman was bathing in the sink. I guess you do what you have to do but that isn't something you look for in a restaurant experience. When he exited the bathroom he continued to linger & comb his beard outside. He said with an accent I couldn't pick up, "You go ahead, it's free." No thanks. Afterwards, the food came out. Unfortunately, the food was nothing like I remembered it. I sat there with my family simply going through the motions. Not a single one of us had that look of enjoyment you'd expect to see at your favorite spot. Something changed in this restaurant & it was obvious. I would give 3 stars if it were just for the fact that the staff was friendly. I can't though, because during the middle of our full course meal, they started cleaning the two bathrooms. One man had plastic gloves on & I could see him pouring detergent/bleach. They kept the door open & it got to the point that my elderly grandma called the waitress over to politely berate how inappropriate as well as unhygienic this whole ordeal was. She demanded that they at least close the door, which they did, but she just shook her head in disappointment. My grandma & mother explained that they knew the owners. It's my understanding that the husband passed away & for that I give my condolences. I was told that the wife is now solely in charge & at her age it's clear that she may be struggling. So it's truly unfortunate that a place like La Churreria could experience such a drastic drop in both quality & professionalism. I came back there expecting brilliance & left embarrassed after speaking so highly of it. I will always remember that wonderful place that was like a wall of mirrors, but it seems like all good things must come to an end.

Food it's just ok, prices are decent, I ordered the tamal cubano a cuban sandwich and soup, definitely not the best cuban restaurant, plenty of other places around the area that are much better.

Just to start... I am cuban raised in this part of union city. I moved to Miami many years ago. So I come up with my wife to show her this amazing restaurant I used to eat at. Well the disappointment is beyond anything I've ever experienced. The service is horrendous!!!! The food is the worse cuban food I've ever had in my life. This place should be ashamed of saying it's a cuban restaurant. And the audacity to fly a cuban flag inside is disrespectful to us cubans. How can you put central Americans to make our delicious cuban food. You should not be in business anymore. And I kid you not I'm so mad you have no idea. If I can give this place 100 minus stars I would. Please please please. Who ever reads this! Don't eat here. You will be disappointed big time. We cubans are the last of the Mohicans here. But this was a disappointed to the max!! Nothing cuban about this place anymore. Just central American and South American. " DON'T EAT HERE "!!!!

Pedí un jugo de naranja y en lugar de jugo nos dieron fue una limonada de naranja, parece que a un vaso con agua le exprimieron media naranja, que decepción y por esa limonada, en el recibo lo cobran como jugo de naranja por $7.50. Una lástima, quería ir a comer el churrasco de la Churreria pero ahora con ese servicio ofrecido no volveré por allá. Ihop vende JUGO de naranja natural con pulpa recién exprimido por $7 y de lejos es mucho mejor.

I remember being here before, but I had forgotten about the tasteless food, particularly the yucca.... My sister was craving something tasty, but we definitely chose the wrong place, and I understand it's the end of the day, but the service just wasn't there.... it is unacceptable because we are still paying for the food and the service...not coming back to this place.

They send me wet mushy rice I have a spoon and it was really wet have lettuce remains and chew pernil the rice have tocino but not pernil and is not wet the other plate it was normal but this one was nasty and you don't serve something you are not going to eat.

Pasamos a comer antes de volar de vuelta a España. Una sopa de pescado riquísima que nos comimos entre dos porque te traen una cazuela grande, una sopa de pollo buenísima y un baby churrasco espectacular con patatas y ensalada. También pedimos 2 cervezas y 2 aguas... no llegó a $65!!!! Los meseros súper amables. Lástima que estétan lejos de mi casa.

Love the food and have gone there for years. But whoever is taking orders is rude and does not pay attention. I repeated my order in clear Spanish 3 times and the lady taking my order kept telling me I was not listening to her when she kept asking me the same question over and over ???

Excelente stop once you leave NYC through the Lincoln Tunnel. They are a great menu. They serve you really fast and it has a great Cuban flavor. We absolutely recommend Biftec de palomilla, "Caldo gallego", medianoche with coffee and the "natillas."

If I could give them 0 stars I would… coming from a Cuban home, everything here was wrong! NOTHING CUBAN AT ALL!!!! I asked for breakfast for my kids they give me a plate w an old fried egg, over charge for a side of fries and bacon and the treatment was rude! NEVER AGAIN!!

The meat was old. The bread was beyond stale. Just disgusting. Do not waste your time or money here.

Very disappointed with the meals I ordered. Prices went up. A can of soda is $2.25 which is ridiculous. Ordered a grilled beef liver which had absolutely 0 seasoning. I also ordered 2 steak sandwiches which I specifically requested melted cheese. Cheese looked like it was slapped and not melted. The churros(stiff churros)/warm meals were served super cold. Been going for years but it’s not the same! Disappointed

A medio día andaba con hambre y pasaba cerca de este lugar, entré y ordené un churrasco con arroz blanco y frijoles y un jugo de naranjas, el señor mesero muy amable, la orden llegó relativamente a tiempo, la comida sin sabor, lo menoa peor de todo fue el jugo, pedí la cuenta y encima de demorar mucho tiempo tuve que pagar más de 50 dólares incluyendo la propina, en conclusión, esta ha sido la comida más mala y cara que he comido, jamas regresaré .

This place it’s horrible, I won’t even rate it 1/4 star. waited over twenty five minutes for a steak sandwich. Food was cold and the steak wasn’t tender with no flavor fríes were also cold. And the say on their menu. (EL REY DEL PAN CON BISTEC) that’s must be a gimmick. I guess you get what you pay for.

The restaurant is not for anyone who doesn’t speak Spanish. The waiters do not understand any English and will mess up your order. They do not take the time to listen properly and understand what is being ordered. The food is decent. The portions are huge. Terrible experience. I left with nothing to eat after waiting a whole hour for what we had ordered.

Another place once solid, VERY reasonably and generously priced that has hitched on to the constant inflation news bandwagon. Their costs have surely not gone up by the same percentage as their prices have, but like so many other businesses of all kinds, they see an opportunity to make more money in the mistaken notion that customers will assume that the phony bloated prices are a direct result of "inflation." The food was always reliable if not great here. Now they are in the process of pricing themselves out of business through greed. Good luck with that.

We recently ordered dinner here a couple months ago and totally enjoyed it! The empanadas had a ton of filling whereas other places skimp on that sometimes. The Cuban sandwich was also one of the better ones we've had in the area. The camarones a la plancha were also delicious and they give you two sides (had the arroz moro & tostones) which makes for so much food. The best way to top it off was with tres leches. We will definitely eat from here again!

Increíble los precios desorbitados que le han puesto a las carnes segun que por la subida que hubo, pero los precios de las procesadoras ya normalizo y aca siguen vendiendo extremadamente cara la carne. Al final ustedes mismos son los que pierden ya que los clientes no vuelven.

I must tell you that Ms. Gloria, treats me like family...l loveher, she runs a amazing place with much grace and professionalism, she knows my family, since l was little, and she is still the same loving lady...the food is incredible, authentic Cuban cuisine....it is my families favorite, and you can always catch me there, yum, yum, l wish l was there right now!
