They close at 9pm I was there at 8:39pm that September 9 they didn’t want to sale me coffee and pastries no respect and motivation

Came in the evening for pastries and coffee. Noone greeted us and the lady said what we needed? Like hello to you too. Then said we cleaned our cappuccino machine already so we can't get coffee. We left, horrible service will never be back.

The fruit was old and spoiled. We asked to get it replaced and we got a bowl of berries equally spoiled.

Food was delicious! We had our office breakfast catered. Delivery girl was super sweet. Everyone raved about it in the office. Just wish the Bethesda location hadn't closed since this is a bit far away from us!

I stopped in today with a friend and we both ordered Omelettes, within only a few minutes we had already received our food before our drinks! We asked the gentleman in a Burgundy shirt about our drinks and he swiftly brought them out to us, he was very friendly and made sure we had everything in our order. We definitely will be back again!

In the Downtown Crown Gaithersburg, Maryland . This is another Favorite restaurant called La Madeline . It's a Breakst Lunch and early dinner place i.love . I tried getting a Job there and I hope I get it . I signed for Cashier Barista and Store Manager. It has wifi there it has a huge batista area . Has a display with cookies and other great Pasteries . It has a great fsmily atmosphere. Has a huge dining area . I love going there to use the wifi and more . I hope I can have two part time jobs to get my life back that was stolen from me 4 years t months ago . I want to make a difference trend years of division in America. NOT an authentic French place! This Nutella crepe has no Nutella and it’s HORRIBLE!

The food is delicious, but the service is not so great: no one to fill utensils, clean up outdoor area. I been here for 2.5 hrs. The day is windy, napkins and lids are flying all over.

Lovely Cafe. Definitely needs more staff though. I saw one of the staff ladies working the register, bringing out food and making pastries all at once. Pretty expensive for such small portions as well. But mostly everything is made in house which you can tell.

I ordered pick up from the La Madeline app. When I arrived, I waited for 35 minutes past the time my order was to be ready while the entire staff ran around with no direction and putting out no one’s orders. After 35 minutes I asked for a refund. The Manager, Sam, would not come out from the back to process my refund. They said they can do it electronically, which I am still waiting for and will be following up on. Additionally, while I was there I watched the manager, Sam, hand a door dash order to the wrong driver. When the correct driver got there, she became absolutely unprofessionally argumentative with him as if it her negligence was his fault. Absolutely horrible experience.

I recently visited here was a charming and enchanting establishment that immediately caught my eye with its inviting aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries. As a lover of all things French cuisine, I was excited to sample the delectable treats that this bakery had to offer. I settled on a classic croissant and a pain au chocolat. The croissant was perfectly flaky and buttery, with just the right amount of crunch. The pain au chocolat was equally delicious, with rich, gooey chocolate oozing out from its layers of delicate pastry. My recommendation is French onion soup topnoch. Highly recommended.

This location has truly gone downhill. I used to love coming to this location but not so much anymore. There’s no staff in the front. The line is out the door. Customers are leaving due to not being serviced (myself included) there’s no sense of urgency in the staff. From the front of the store I can see all the orders that have been placed are red meaning they are behind on the orders that have already been placed. Staff that could help the line are just dilly dallying. This is truly unacceptable! Where’s Kevin, CiCi, or Yousef when you need them that’s when this location ran efficiently. Whoever’s in charge now ought to be ashamed of themselves!!!

I usually love La Madeleine but this weekend I was not impressed. The staff seemed a little stressed (though it was not crowded) and my food took a long time. The omelette was bland and not seasoned. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized why: the cheddar, spinach and mushroom omelette was missing the cheddar!

They completely missed to give me my two Muffin croissant which I was really looking forward to. Instead they gave me Chocolate croissants which turned out to be stale and my Steak sandwich had a piece of foil in it. Just really bad experience overall for my first time there.

I came with my children and the service was bad, the wait for the food was an hour for a single crepe and when the crepe arrived they forgot my coffee so I waited 10 more minutes. I will never return

Be prepared to wait and at the end they will came to you to tell you they don’t have what you ordered (40min for a crepe )

There is a great number of La Madeleine restaurants - most of them wonderful. This particular franchise in Gaithesburg, MD is substantially below par. Poor personal service, supplies (sliced bread, butter, Jelly or preserves) that are usually available on an open counter are only available by request (if there is anyone to ask). Several employees demonstrated lack uf familiarity with their ways and means. The food is stil great but yesterday's croissant showed it's age.

Ordered 2 blueberry muffins. Gave us ones with raisins.

Friendly staff with great prices for quick, but great tasting French food and desserts. Good for take out or dine-in. 5 years later edit: This place is still wonderful! Shannon was super friendly and helpful! The food is delicious, but not any heavier than it needs to be. The pastries are far better than anything Starbucks has to offer. Reusable silverware and plates are great, and certainly nicer than many other places. The prices are extremely reasonable. One of the best quick service restaurants out there!

I have been coming to La Madeleine for years, both Bethesda and Rockville locations. This location is the worst. The service is extremely slow. The food is not fresh and is low quality. And there are so many little flies in the pastry display because the employees never close the door. Disgusting! I will no longer spend my money here. If you don't want to lose customers, get new management ASAP and give that place a good cleaning!

Usually better than average, but just average recently. Like many La Madeleine's, this one no longer puts out bread near the silverware and drinks.

If I can give this place more than 5 stars I would. I drove from Toronto to come here and the service is exquisite. I dealt with Shanon one night and in the morning I came back and dealt with Gisele. This is probably the best service I have ever gotten to the point that I took 12 jars of tomato soup and 2 of their full cakes home.

I ordered online and came in 40 minutes later. my food was not ready on time which is ok but then when I eventually got my order after talking to an employee i was given the complete wrong order and had to go back. foods good but service was not great

I had an interview with this company and I wish I could say I had a great experience but that's not the case here. I had the interview at 1:30pm and I arrived at 1:25pm. I checked in with one of the employees and she let me know she will let the manager know, I took a seat and waited for 15 minutes. Nobody communicated with me that the manager was going to be late for the interview. Okay, I understood that maybe she is busy, no big deal right? I noticed that she came around and saw me as I was waiting for her, no communication from her, but still wanted to give her some grace, after all I do understand that as a business owner/manager it can get busy & stressful. I waited another 15 minutes total of 30 min at this point and I saw her again with a clip broad as if she was doing inventory. As I read her expression, she was calm and unbothered. I noticed then that two employees in the front were whispering about notifying her twice about my interview with her. So, obviously, I got up and went up to one of the employees, I told her "I would like to withdraw my application" She responded with a sad expression "Are you sure?!" I stated, "Yes, Thank you, and have a nice day". In the end, my point here is that a little communication can go a long way. And by the looks of it, management does not appreciate the employees' time or efforts, especially hearing the two employees saying negative things about management after I left. Beware to all Job seekers lol

Very slow ordering and serving and half my soup spilled on the plate. No more free bread and accessories. Disappointing.

Wanted to catch a late breakfast so decided to order from this place to-go. Abundantly hungry after the gym, placed the order then retrieved the food. Initially, I stood there waiting to be greeted while workers were gossiping and also no cutlery was given to me. I unpack my food and the omelette was falling apart, overcooked and watery at the same time. I’m not sure how that’s possible. Also, I didn’t even get the croissant that came with the meal. My husband didn’t like the bacon at all, said we could have gotten a better meal from the dollar store. Overall unsatisfied.

Stood in line for 20 minutes, just to place an order for bakery items. After I placed the order, It took another 10minutes before I could get my items. None of the workers seemed to move with any sense of urgency and the cashier was very rude.

Waited almost 5 mins to be acknowledged at front deck. Bacon was Fakeon! Low quality cheap dollar store bacon for a premium price! Omelette was $16 for a watery unseasoned, what looked like scrambled eggs instead on an omelette! Pretty bad considering the price. Will not be back!

Nothing describes what it’s like to go to La Madeleine. The food there is delicious, they have pastas, entrees and delicious desserts. The manager, Tony was very nice to us and friendly. The bathrooms had french lessons playing instead of music. The outside of the restaurant looks like it’s located in France and the whole place is magical. Any dish with chicken in it is automatically an amazing one. Again, the food is heaven, highly recommend!

The French Dip Sandwich and Cesar Salad was really good

Always has a long wait. It's not the fault of the staff because they always seem understaffed which would be the fault of management. Frequently they get my takeout orders wrong or missing something but the food is good, and it's in a walkable area so I keep coming back. Hope they can fix their staffing issues soon, because having a nice cafe in the area is convenient especially after corner bakery closed.

French patisserie, the croissants are really good! The coffee machine was not working 😕 and for us the coffee is the most important part of the breakfast. The strawberry waffle had a weird cream inside. For my perspective, it is an average place to eat.

I ordered via Uber eats, the quiche, salad and soup was delicious. But they forgot to put 2 butter croissants inside the bag!

The 'machine' was broken. 🤦 No lattes because apparently steaming milk and mixing it with coffee or tea is a skill beyond human comprehension. Coffee and tea were still available. But the hot water for tea wasn't hot at all, just warm. And one of the two coffee dispensers didn't have enough to fill a single cup. The camomile tea was weak. Probably because the not-hot water. The mushroom soup was good.

Some bakery items were decent, but I wouldn't say delicious. Coffees - I've had better especially for the $. Salad - not tasty and wasn't fresh. Our experience wasn't the best. Service is awful and no, it wasn't busy. Our ordered got forgotten about twice! I could understand if they were busy, but they weren't. I had to wait over 20mins for my beverage! Staff- didn't looks happy and as a matter fact, expressed discontent being at work -> Doesn't really help a customer feel welcomed. Cleanliness - lacking to say the least. Found several tea spoons dirty! Table with dirty dishes for over 2 hours. In desperate need of better management! Unfortunate given the resturant has potential, but not with this type of service.

Cashier got my order wrong, had to ask supervisor for help, and then they didn't make my latte until I pointed out the reason I was still standing right there was my latte, and I had to show my receipt for them to believe they owed me a latte.

The manager was not friendly at all and has a bad attitude. Food is great. Need better managers!! First and last time I come here.

I love having this bakery in my neighborhood and their food is quite good, but I visit it much less than I would like to due to the service problems. Even doing something simple like buying bread takes 10 minutes, and if there is a line of people ordering full meals in front of you at the single register your wait will be much longer. I have now walked out three times because I just could not spend 20 or more minutes to buy a baguette or a pastry. I really hope management addresses this problem as I love having a nice bakery within walking distance. I am sure this location would easily double its business if management just addressed this basic problem.

Love La Madeline but this location is bad. Staff does not care. No difference between a Bowl and Cup. Also, 3 items missing when we picked it up. Don’t do it until they get new management.

This was my first time going to the Downtown Crown in Gaithersburg, MD. It was a very nice area. La Madeleine is off a made street and easy to spot. If you cannot find street parking, there is parking in the rear of the restaurant. I took my daughter here for brunch. You order your food at the counter and take a number to place on your table. The young lady that took our order was very nice. We both ordered the Country French Breakfast, which consisted of two eggs cooked-to-order (we chose scrambled), Potato Galette, bacon or sausage (we got bacon) and a butter croissant. The chef brought our food out to the table and said bon appetit. Which was pretty cool since we were in a French restaurant. The food was delicious. The eggs were flavorful. It was my first time having a Potato Galette. It was like jazzed up hash browns or a latke. The bacon was cooked crispy like I like it and the croissant was buttery and soft. I highly recommend this location.

The food was deliciously French, the desserts were tempting enough to want to buy one of each, and no stuffy French servers! It is a casual, charming cafe! Only thing missing was French wine to go with all that wonderful French food!

My favorite breakfast/brunch place in Montgomery county. Food here is consistently delicious and generously portioned. Staff are courteous and helpful. It’s clean and has a rustic country environment. A great place to meet up friends.

Before the pandemic, place was wonderful. Now is less people to serve, to prepare food. Cofee cold, poor service, dirty tables,bathrooms. poor menu. Every visit is less and less.

American Perspective: The food was wonderful, offering authentic European dishes like baguettes and croissants. It's a healthy change from typical American breakfasts and was prepared quickly. The ambiance was cozy. European Perspective: I had high hopes, but was disappointed. The setting seemed authentic, but the "cappuccino" was not up to standard. The orange juice wasn't fresh as promised, and the croissant tasted store-bought. My girlfriend's egg was bland. Having been to France, the food quality doesn't compare. The cappuccino would upset a true Italian. Fresh orange juice would have enhanced the experience. The owner should visit France to understand authentic breakfast. Calling this place "French" feels inaccurate.

A nice casual hangout spot. The art of the drinks is subpar, and the atmosphere is busier than other cafes than I'd like, but overall, it was still a good cafe to hang out around.

Love the food and best coffee around. Hope is there for a very long time as a couple we used to go to closed (Silver Spring & Bethesda). Will make sure to come here often.

Love this restaurant. They need more hired help at the front, especially on known high traffic days, such as Sunday mornings. Can be a long wait to order with only one cashier. Manager wants too long to help out.

Was there tonight. Staff was nice but super slow. The reason I marked it so low was there were bugs in the display with all the desserts. Just flying around.

Not sure what happened to this place, but it has gone downhill. My salad was completely disgusting with rotting lettuce and old stale croutons. I don’t ever ever send my food back but I had to. My second salad was the same. I ended up just throwing it out. Don’t think I will ever come back. No wonder they’re all closing.

I've always loved La Madeleine. I like French style cuisine. Nice when you want something fast yet tasty. Crepe La Madeleine is yummy. Was not a big fan of the espresso used for the latte. Too weak.

I always have loved la Madeleine for the beautiful pasteries,, French country ambiance, and good food. I haven't been to one since before Covid, and this was my first time at the Downtown Crown location. We arrived at 9am, there were only 2 or 3 people there. We ordered 3 breakfasts and 2 specialty coffees and a hot tea. While ordering seemed to take a long time, the food was prepared in a timely manner. Unlike past visits to the chain, there were no condiments available here except for 2 packs of honey and some ketchup. I had to ask for a tea bag, then had to ask for butter and then had to ask for jam. The manager was unsmiling and unfriendly, never spoke to us neither to ask how our food was or to thank us for coming. When I asked him for the butter, he gruffly handed them to me without a word. The cooks did an excellent job making the eggs and other items, it was just slow / unfriendly service and very high prices that disappointed us. Over $60 (with tip) for 3 basic breakfast meals with coffee seems a bit steep, even with the high cost of eggs.

Ordered ahead 5 days before valentines day. When I arrived they didnt have any of the pastries I ordered. Am I missing something? Why have the option to pick up days later if I dont get the things I ordered? I could be wrong; but even if I am I wont be coming back.

After a week back from Paris , tonight me and my husband decided to have a good time at la Madeleine to remember lovely night at Paris....., But it came out nightmare. My husband order double shot espresso and they served it in a big mug and it was cold and taste like burning coffee. I ordered crepe with Nutella but it came out with some white stuff inside the crepe which I had no idea what was in there. The place was so dirty all around us was dishes on the tables. The employees were unfriendly and it seems they hate their job just toss the food toward your face and I was lucky to keep my recipe to show them my right order because the Lady keep saying my order was something else....worst experience ever and wish to read reviews before spend any penny there...so disappointed. You better change manager and entire team before shutting down your business.

The Latino “manager” was super rude, it’s clear he doesn’t not enjoy working in this place and spread a very bad vibe. Looks very mad and make feel the customers not welcome to this place. I have no complains about their products or food but with this type of customer service I would never come back. Thanks to the General manager (Jessica I believe it’s her name) for being kind and care about their customers, she solved my problem and apologize.

The cappuccino is delicious along with the eggs. The avocado toast is on a buttery brioche type of bread. Was wishing it was a little more like French bread. The staff were friendly and they have outside seating!

Unfortunately the coffee isn’t a good brand and most of the time is cold . If you go in a group , be prepared the orders may mix up 🤪

Not a great experience this time around. I loved their location in Rockville and downtown silver spring. This new location never gets the order right, food is either old, cold or they forget to give you items you paid for. I went in to get breakfast with family, our food they gave us was cold and our pastries were old.. the lady at the front spilled my coffee several times and almost on me the 3rd time.. the coffee was awful.. also tasted like old coffee that had been sitting there all week. The second person that I asked for my missing food items I had already paid for was rude and short. Overall horrible experience.. last time was not a good experience.. food was also cold and didn’t taste fresh. Won’t be going back, unless new management takes place or a new place opens up. I would give zero stars if I could, if you’re looking for French cuisine or breakfast go to Cafe Normandy in Rockville or another place.

Ordered Nutella crepes along with hot chocolate. Do not recommend, as hot chocolate was very watery and crepes were not as good as other places. Plus out of nowhere I find extra fees (additional 3$)on my receipt. They charge extra commodity fee and other weird fees that other places do not change. Do not recommend this place. Our table for two was wabbling as it was not screwed properly to the base in the table.

They still have the same problems as before. Unorganized, cannot handle the Saturday peak hours, and rude.

La Madeleine manages to achieve consistency in all of their restaurants. It's what places like Panera could only wish to be. The food is always good. The building is always clean, including the bathrooms. Service is nothing to complain about. It's a little expensive for the portion sizes, but if that's all I have to complain about I think we are ahead of the game. The tomato bisque is the best tomato soup I've ever had. Very flavorful and good texture. There are only gendered bathrooms here, it would be nice if there were a third for everyone else or if they just made all of the bathrooms into single occupancy.

They have great soups and salads at this location. If you can stop by for coffee and chocolate almond croissants right at opening. Do not forget their deserts and breads.
