It will help to read spanish to eat here. The menu is MASSIVE, and way too complicated. Wine list is very weak. LOTS of tequila. Good beer selection. Servers are great, but kitchen is slow. Food was good. I had a carne asada quesa with a Dos Equis beer. Dining room was a bit warm, but excellent mexican decor and ambience. Under $30

This was the coolest Gourmet Taco Place I've ever been to!! The staff, artwork, food, and drinks were 5 Stars! I'd definitely come back, next time I'm in Phoenix!

The food at La Santisima is unlike any other Mexican restaurant. They have very large portions and interesting and flavorful combinations. The salsa bar has incredibly tasty variations.

The guacamole and queso was an amazing start. Finished off with the carne asada street tacos and will say they are some of the best I’ve had in a very long time, great selection for the salsa bar along with amazing service from Sergio for attentive and great attention to detail. Absolutely recommend for the best place in town!

Hidden gem of truly GOURMET Mex with exceptional flavors, perfectly cooked fish, everything very fresh. As fresh as your fav Mexican resort restaurant. Amazing list of top shelf and everyday tequilas. And of course long list of tasty margaritas for every taste.

First off its warm as hell in here, second u gots to dress nice to get good service 3rd the rice ain't Mexican rice. I had to get up an ask why we ain't getting our drinks I think it was my It's modelo time Foo shirt. Every one else had suits an dresses. So if u can bring your own fans cuz the chili is the only good thing about this place. An we didn't like our food 2 plates that cost us 35 cost us 60 so to high priced an I had tacos they were ok. An just now arrived at the hospital cuz my girl allergic to pineapples so now we here🤢 who puts pineapple in enchiladas....

I really didn't know what I was ordering the Waitress just ordered for me, as if I was being rushed.but still not knowing what I ordered, I had to go to the emergency room 30 mins later (I should've asked). Because I'm allergic to pineapples, I didn't know there was pineapples in mexican food!!! And we had to get up to get our own drinks refilled. This place was beautiful, BUT!!! the whole restaurant was 🔥 🥵 hot and then the service was uncomforting as if we were being judged of our appeal, despite the ignorance of the guess and employees. I don't think this is a place for street attire or casual clothing ware. Geez! We must have looked some type of way to get bad service. The food wasn't even good I took 1 bite an got sick 😕. So here I am in the hospital. Good luck!!!!!

Very cool place! Service, food & atmosphere was great. Only thing I could suggest is the little store providing art with hummingbirds & adding more ventilation. It got quite warm in the corner closest to the kitchen.

The service is no longer the same, as well as the food is too fried and very little in each taco, the sauces and you just have to carry them in your hand because of the little glasses it has. We went frequently but we will never go again.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at La Santisima. My food tasted like it had been soaked in cleaning chemicals, making it completely inedible. I called in to make a complaint and spoke with Ana who didn’t seem to care too much. After hanging up I looked at my wife and she pulled a super hard piece of plastic out of her mouth that she got from inside the food. I called back again and spoke with Ana who mentioned they had a new cook and she had also been noticing some issues as well. She mentioned she would let her boss Felipe know and he would call me. When Felipe called me he asked for proof. I provided him with videos and pictures. He then rudely accused me of lying and that my story didn’t add up because they don’t use any cleaners and that plastic would melt in the cooking. This place clearly lacks basic hygiene and customer service standards. Avoid at all costs! Management is absolutely atrocious and should be ashamed of themselves.

My partner and I recently dined at La Santisima Restaurant located at 4117 N 16th St, Phoenix, AZ 85016 , and I must say it was an incredibly disappointing experience. From the moment we were seated, the service was subpar and left much to be desired. Our waiter never once checked on our table throughout the entire meal. We had to flag her down multiple times just to get basic necessities like water refills and extra napkins. When she did finally come over, her attitude was dismissive and unfriendly, making us feel like we were inconveniencing her. The lack of attention to our table was particularly frustrating because the restaurant was not overly busy. There seemed to be no valid reason for the neglect we experienced. It’s one thing to be understaffed, but quite another to be met with a poor attitude when assistance is requested. The food itself was decent, but the poor service overshadowed any positives about the meal. Dining out is not just about the food but the entire experience, and unfortunately, La Santisima failed miserably in this regard. I hope the management takes note of these issues and works to improve the quality of their service. Until then, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an enjoyable dining experience.

While the food at this restaurant is quite good, the customer service needs improvement. It often takes a considerable amount of time for staff to attend to customers, and the air conditioning never seems to be working. The most unprofessional aspect of my visit, and the primary reason for my 1-star rating, was the lack of transparency regarding their billing practices. The restaurant adds an automatic 20% gratuity to the bill without informing customers. The waitress then presented the digital receipt in a way that hid this charge and displayed the screen to prompt an additional tip knowing she had already charged us. Won’t be returning to this scam of a place.

This may just be the best mexico city, day of the dead themed taco spot in the valley. The food is second to none in this category and I wouldn't give any other place like it a better review. They have been around for almost a couple decades now and moved from their original location and name but the food has always been insanely great.

This was a really disappointing experience. The food was great. The service was absolutely terrible. The waitress, Paulina, was overworked for one, there should have been more servers scheduled on a Father’s Day and there was no way she could be as attentive as necessary to every table. When it came time to pay, we had a $100 gift card and she stated it was “online only” and that we couldn’t use it to pay for part of our meal. It says nothing about the gift card being for online orders only when you purchase it (we double checked online at the table.) It appears what is actually happening is that there a system issue not accepting the digital gift card. We proposed several alternate solutions, like taking some of our items off and putting them in the system as an online order to pay that way and the waitress literally said “I don’t have time for that.” I was understanding of the situation until that, when it became clear that she just didn’t want to take the time to help. We asked to speak to a a manager, and she stated her boss wasn’t there, wouldn’t say who the shift manager on duty was, and wouldn’t call them either. It took multiple requests and probably 20 minutes for her to finally connect with a kitchen manager and bring them to the table and opted to make “cash” payment in the amount of our gift card, then take the card number so a manager could void it later. This is really basic customer service stuff that you should know how to handle as a waitress and it honestly ruined the experience. I really wanted to like this place, as the food is really good, but that left a bad taste in my mouth and I don’t plan on returning.

Really enjoyed the food here, I had the carne asada burro with red sauce along with rice and beans. The co-workers I went with had various dishes and all of us were very pleased with our food. They have quite the selection of salsa/hot sauce make sure to try them all. We also ordered the guacamole and it was very fresh and the flavor was great. Definitely give them a shot if your looking for good mexican food. They also have quite the extensive menu which will cater to everyone.

Arrived 1.5 hours before close and they wouldn’t seat us—won’t be wasting our time again.

I have gone to the location in Glendale but the one in 16th Street was horrible the service sucked according to the server she was telling everyone she was the only one working but there was a person helping her out as well as and older lady bringing out food the tacos tortillas tasted like a tortilla you get at food City low quality my ladies burrito was made this white sauce that tasted like it was spoiled or left out for a couple days. The bill came and it came out to 155 bucks for 3 people and by the end of our dinner the server was already having an attitude. This was on Saturday 6/9/2024 around 6pm

Absolutely the best tacos I've had in Arizona, and perhaps anywhere. Stunningly good and wide selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Excellent salsas and good margaritas. A little pricy, but when you're getting the best, it's worth it.

Food was 2 to overpriced I got 3 street tacos plate that came with rice and beans and husband plate of asada burrito and rice and beans and I got a margarita and him soda 88.00 dollar bill HOW? ! don’t recommend it

I ordered the cauliflower pastor burro with red and green sauce amd it was delicious. They have a wide variety of vegetarian options which is nice. The salsa bar is awesome and the service was great. Will definitely be back.

This used to be a good place, but the service is terrible, the restaurant is hot and has inadequate AC for 100 degree May heat, and plays loud, bad music. Our server virtually ignored us.

If I could give this place a zero for customer service - I WOULD IN A HEARTBEAT!! . Such a disappointment! If you want to be acknowledged & treated with courtesy- Don't bother! Do not enter! We walked in the hostess - would not acknowledge us - she was wrapping silverware. We had to motion her 1st. Then she tells us it'll be a moment. A family of 3 walk in after us. She leaves us unattended, no word of a wait time or any communication. She comes back with menus and pulls the family of 3 instead of us & still doesn't speak to us. She did continue to grab chips for the family she seated .. she even acknowledged a customer with a pick up & invited him to wait at bar while she checked on his order. She came back and continued to talk to him. Then FINALLY spoke to us. Then says the following " sorry for the wait , but I can't seat you because there's a party of 17 coming in soon & I have to anticipate where to put them at." " I can put you outside " " or you can be at the bar for a drink & if something changes.." At that point , it wasn't even worth hearing the rest of her sentence. She made it very obvious that she had no interest in us as customers. And when in a service industry- your staff is a reflection of you as a brand and business. Unfortunately, her co-workers at the bar did not intervene on our behalf. They asked her about us in Spanish. She made a comment and then proceeded to still seat the family that walked in after our party of 2. - .

What an excellent experience! To start, they give you complimentary chips and have a salsa bar!!! Rarely do you find a place that does not charge for chips. Their menu is unique and the food is outstanding!!!

Absolutely worth the hype. Best tacos in Phoenix, hands down. Loved that they brought my takeout to my car and even took my card there. Definitely the spot to impress friends with some killer Mexican food.

We loved the entire experience!

$90 for 6 tacos and a coca cola. The room they put us in was extremely hot and it took them 25 minutes to turn the AC on for us after we requested. The waitress took forever to take our order. I had to ask 4 times for a refill of my soda then she brought me the wrong drink. She didn't give me what I asked for when I ordered and set it up to charge me more. Why does everything have to come as a taco, burrito, or quesadilla? Very Odd. The rice was not mexican style and had no flavor. The tacos were all lettuce/cabbage with little sprinkles of meat. The chips were very cheap quality. Very rude while we were making our orders and when we were paying. She made sure to circle the tip area on the receipt to swindle an additional tip from me without telling any of us that there was an automatic 20% tip included. The service was absolutely terrible. Our section was not checked on or serviced. This is a mexican restaurant for white people who don't know better and people who want a cool atmosphere for social media pictures. This restaurant is solely in it for the money and will try to squeeze as much money from you as they can for their sub par mexican food. All fillings and no meat. If you are a mexican expecting traditional mexican dishes prepared the way they are in mexico then go somewhere else. The food was a washed down flavorless mess of tortilla, lettuce, and salsa. The portions were fit for people with stomachs the size of a golf ball. There are plenty of better mexican restaurants that give better quality food. There are plenty of places with far superior service. If you eat here there's a fair chance you will leave feeling cheated. I do not recommend. Avoid at all costs.

VERY cute atmosphere with an equally cool store. I wish I could rate the actual place higher but service was poor. May have just been understaffed in the kitchen but food took an hour 15 to get to our table after ordering. Would try again at a less busy moment.

Despite the many reviews, La Santisima has been shown as one of the most disappointing restaurants regarding food quality and customer service at this price point. The food we received was completely incorrect and lacking compared to its major competitors. Based on the photos and descriptions, the food we got was wrong, and when we contacted customer service, they offered to refund the food. However, a refund was never made. This was very frustrating as the food was already pricy, and they could not even process a refund properly. The customer service when picking up this order was also inefficient. The team members looked like they were relaxing around, and when I entered the doors, I was looked at as if I did not belong there. No welcome, hi, hello, welcome to our restaurant, but just "yes?". This experience happened around 5 months ago, and as it states, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this Mexican restaurant. I would only suggest future customers try the place if you are experimenting, but nothing else.

The best mexican place I have ever been to! Such a large and interesting menu, with so many amazingly deliscious dishes! And 14 different salsas in the salsa bar that you can help yoursekf to (if you're dining in the restaurant), with some REALLY interesting options, like pecan, peanut, salsa macha, pibil, and some interesting fruit salsas. Some great cocktail options as well. We all loved this place so much! And the decor is as great as the food!

Service was horrible waitress would not stick around long enough to explain menu, he had to get someone else attention and they would not come over either and said they'd send our waitress. Same thing when it came to clearing our dirty plates we spend our lunch cluttered with our empty dirty plates as our other food arrived and there was not much room on table and waitress would not take any away. Food and salsa was great but service was horrible

I really want to love this restaurant, but there's just something curious and quirky about it...can't put my finger on it though I've tried several times. The staff are lovely...working hard...Maybe it's the menu...so many options...like a rubics cube of choices. Or is it the salsa bar...so many unusual flavors...or the yelp virtual check-in that doesn't hold a place in line really. Or bar swings that no one dare sit on...again, quirky? It feels like Hotel California...You can check it out...I don't know...try it, and report back!

Vegan/ vegetarians - so many incredible choices. Stunning art to enjoy in the walls. Wonderful staff happy to chat about Mexican culture. Wow , we felt so lucky to find this place. The courtyard would be stunning on a warm evening. I'll be back next time I'm in Phoenix

My first time here came early evening The Atmosphere was very calming just a nice place to relax Food was so good so delicious alot of options on the menu did take me a minute to decide but my true favorite part about my experience was our waitress Sana she besides being so nice was honestly so upbeat & genuine. Didnt feel like she was just there & out & she made me feel comfortable with making modifications which i can feel conscious about. Overall 10/10 great experience

After eating there several times I had an incident happen where I am thinking they did not believe about the bug being on my plate as my son flicked it off my plate and I let them know about the situation and wanted to know what they could do for me? I told them they needed to know about and I was unsure. In my opinion I would have said let me take off of what you were eating. I feel like the whole situation was ignored as there was no evidence to prove what happened. I have never had bad food and love to eat here but it will be awhile before I got back.

Thought it was a taco shop, but is a full restaurant with bar. Very cozy atmosphere, neat inside, full salsa bar also. Menu is huge and almost too much to choose from. Definitely worth it!

Man, so really disappointed in this place, maybe because we went at 9pm though. Presentation and atmosphere was amazing, but the food all around was not good. Starting with the chips and salsa bar, the chips looked like straight out of a tostitos bag. The salsas were all plain and tasted watered down, I tried green, Mexican, chipotle and another green one. They all had no spice or taste I started to think I was having cogid symptoms. We ordered a burrito with half and half style (Red and green sauce) and I ordered a al pastor quesadilla. The burrito came with white rice that honestly tasted like scraped from the bottom of an overcooked pan. The birria in the burrito tasted very strong of a flavor I can't put to words, but not anything like birria usually tasted. The burrito sauce had a sweet taste, which u didn't like when looking for spice. My quesadilla to my surprise was more like a calzone type, which was cool the bread was really good, and the cheese, but once again the al pastor meat had ok flavoring with the pineapple being the most flavorful item. We went home and we were a little disappointed. I'm not one to cause a scene and complain on the spot but the next day I felt like I had wasted my money here so I called to let them know about the situation. Unfortunately they can't give me a refund because I waited a whole day. I think the most disappointing aspect was the presentation of the food vs the actual taste. The food looked amazing, but the salsa and taste was not good at all.

The Chile en Nogada with chicken had an incredibly unique flavor. The horchata came with fruit and nuts, which was a pleasant twist. The overall environment was great. Really enjoyed the experience and plan on coming back.

I'll start by saying although the service was obnoxiously slow, the staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. That said, the whole place STINKS of insence - like walking into a crystal store. The menu was literally the size of our 4 person table and of the 6 salsas we tried, all were bland. It took 15 minutes to get drinks and another 15 to put in our food order. At this point we decided to just get the queso fondue appetizer, which took another 30 minutes. We didn't order any entrees. The queso came out cold and solidified and made us sick. We spent $60 for 3 drinks, a bowl of cold cheese with a side of nausea. Do NOT recommend.

The salsa bar is awesome, especially the Verde and chipotle. I had the El Pastor tacos and they were fresh and flavorful. Service was a bit slow but understandable considering the amount of people that were there and what looked like a limited staff. My only gripe was no soap in the men's bathroom, which you would think would be something that is always checked, considering staff requirements to wash hands after using the bathroom.

First of all the atmosphere is fabulous! Old school Hispanic culture. The menu is super extensive (overwhelming actually) Food was good with fresh ingredients. Unusual taco choices. I am disappointed with the recent experiences at La Santisima. I honestly used to love this place. Their micheladas are amazing, and I always get their hibiscus shrimp casuela. La Santisima has been unreliable with their hours of operation, and not being able to see when spontaneous changes like these happen is very inconvenient. The only notice was a raggity chalk board infront of the door say "Sorry closed for dinner, come back tomorrow, normal hours". What made this more devastating was that this was supposed to be a birthday dinner with a couple of people. And now we all waste time and gas getting here just to see that the place was closed. The second awful experience was when we were finally able to get inside for dinner. This night wasn't a particularly busy night, but we still had to wait to be seated. The staff would see us waiting and would ignore us, never gave a slight acknowledgment of "be right with you," just plain ignored. After someone finally seated us after about 45 minutes, the waitress again continued to ignore our table. This continued for another 45 minutes. I understand the food is gourmet, and I wouldn't mind waiting that long for the food. But the blatant disrespect from the staff as she waited on tables seated after us, and never bothered to take our drink order. I'm starting to see why the other locations were shut down.

The food was unique and awesome. My burrito was different than any I have had. I think that it had walnuts and cranberries in it. Very tasty.

Overhyped. Very pushy when taking your order. Flavors are ok, more toppings hardly any meat. Horchata is overly sweet, strawberries are soggy and not fresh. Everything you order is an extra charge that is the chips, drink refills, beans and rice, even the tops for the salsas to take to go is a $1 each. Even the art on the wall is for sale. Money hungry people, I don’t recommend.

Sanna was super sweet! Prob the best Mexican food I have ever had. Not typical! The flavors were outstanding and I hope to make it back before we head out of town! (Side note: did not care for the incense burning when I walked in the door… made my stomach turn!) But get past that to the yummy food!!

This is an experience. The first impressions are a mix: dated parking lot, but giant statue outside of a equally giant door. Upon entering the restaurant, you are immediately hit with the strong smell of incense. I found this to be Urías and distracting, considering most restaurants, want you to be greeted by the smell of their own food, and not distracted by incense. We went on a Tuesday night, and it was not busy at all, and were seated right away. After the hard sell to purchase the overly expensive, and small in portion, guacamole, we just went with the chips and salsa. The salsa bar is one of the highlights. it is large, diverse, and eclectic. Some of the highlights include strawberry, sesame, and guacamole. We tried to sample a bit of each. Unfortunately, the containers for the salsa are very small, so you don’t get a try a whole lot of anything, maybe two or three chips per, salsa container. Beyond the salsa, we got the Horchata, which they claim to be phoenixes best. It was overly spicy, and filled 2/3 full of ice. I thought it was way too expensive for the amount received. We of course ordered the quesadillas. These are extremely large, and so we only ordered two for three of us. We ended up taking half of one of those home. They are delicious, and different than any other I have had before, and the fillings were quite good. Unfortunately, the quesadilla is dominated by the corn“tortilla”, with only a third of the dish made up of filling. I would like to give them more stars, but the distraction of Incense, the hard incessant sell on the guacamole, and the limited value of the dishes, dropped it from a four to a three star experience.

I had really high expectations going into this place. We were seated right away because of reservations. As soon as we sat down, our drink orders came out and they were delicious. Ordered guacamole as an appetizers and that was delicious! Once that happened, it went downhill. Our food took forever to come out. The orders were not correct. Our server was nowhere to be seen. Took over 30 minutes just to get the check. Never got to ordering another drink for fear of having to wait another hour for it. This is definitely a place I would never recommend to anyone or be back to.

My wife was just turned away, after a long slog, because she was a party of one. I have no idea if the food or atmosphere is any good. This review is based solely on the service, or lack thereof. Avoid this place if you are a party of one. Oh, what the heck, avoid this place regardless of your party's size, just to be safe.

I mostly liked the condiments and salsa bar. I got the barbacoa soup and it just didn't have flavor I had to add different salsas and that made it better. The wait was really long to sit down we waited atleast 45 min and then when we finally sat down no one would come over and take our order but I guess they're popular but I just didn't get it. I really liked the jicama salad from the salsa bar though I'll give them that so I will be trying to replicate that but that's it oh yeah and the margarita was good too

Love this place! Went her a couple years ago and only recently rediscovered it in their new location. So many delicious options to choos from and I really appreciate the vegetarian options. We are hooked on their Tamarind Margaritas, yum. For an Alcohol free option, their Horchata is a must try with pecans, cantaloupe, I embarrass my wife by using a spoon to finish - sooo delish Update: been coming here for a couple years now and this place is always consistently good. They really expanded their cocktail menus since I started coming here and they're famous horchata even has an alcoholic version. Bravo!

Their horchata and guacamole have won awards for a reason! Beautiful flavors in both items. I wouldn't reorder the pink mole though, it didn't provide the flavors I was hoping for and I thought the pork was a little dry, and the Argentinian steak was bland. I recommend the chicken though.

How could you not possibly love this amazing space. Get the black mole it is out of this world and you won't find it any place else.

Menu is so complex and the staff is so short that nobody has time to explain what everything is. Unless you're fluent in Espanol most of the items are just a guess

I am sad that the 2 older locations are gone. This third location is nonetheless a hit. I enjoyed my tacos, el gaucho and arrachera -enfrijolada style. My wife and I had a Paloma along with a 1800 reposado shot. They have a large selection of food and tequila. I definitely will come back to Phoenix just for some tacos and tequila. Thank you.

This is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. We went Christmas Eve with a party of 10. Not only was the food fabulous, portions were huge and staff was extremely attentive. I live in Buckeye, and it is absolutely worth the drive to Phoenix and 16th Street for this scrumptious food. I should add, I am not the biggest Mexican food lover, but this place is the exception. I must include the price per person included tip and alcohol.

The food here is so good. They have won awards for their Horchata and Guacamole for a reason. They have a beautiful flavor balance. I also loved the Black Mole, but the pork was a little dry. The Pink Mole was okay, I didn't really taste the distinct flavors it advertised. I had the Gaucho taco with Argetenian steak, which had less flavor than I anticipated. Overall though, it was delicious and stands out in a good way.

Love this spot and their salsa bar!!! The ones to the left are the spicy ones and the ones and the right not so spicy.

Incredible salsa bar!!! They have 10+ delicious salsas that you can try- fair warning, you have to be careful not to fill up on chips before your food arrives! 😅 The taco and entree menu is super extensive as well with some unique dishes. Margaritas are tasty. My family always insists on going here when they’re in town! It can be super busy though so be prepared to wait for a table

Would not recommend the carnitas plate. Serve your own salsa is for taqueria not restaurants. The Paloma lacked alcohol and many tequilas were out of stock.
