I went for the first like a week ago. The food was delicious and so the agua fresca de Jamaica. I had un burrito de lengua. Highly recommended. I didn't take picturss, because was my lunch break and I was kind of a hurry. But loved it.

I left a $1 because they don't give customer service to Mr. Toño and the boy with pure stupidity on the phone is having a sorry time.

Best authentic street tacos in St. Louis

There is a reason this place is packed wall to wall with people . It's because the service ,food , and prices are outstanding. The last 5 places I ordered from. The tacos were all over 4 dollars apiece . La Tajana 2.50 all day . I got tacos and pop for 2 grown men and it was under 20 dollars, which is unheard of nowadays. God bless the owners . you're doing a great job.

Food is the closest to authenticity that I can reach when it comes to Mexican cuisine. No need for the fancy, gentrified vibes of most today’s restaurants give off. This is real as it gets.

Do yourself a big favor: go here, order a fish taco (two if you're hungry). Then pay back the favor you did yourself by coming here again. I don't know how they make any money, with the amount of fish on these tacos for $3.50! They make it low salt, too--mark of good cuisine!--so, you'll want to salt it. Honestly, maybe the best fish tacos I've ever had!

The best tacos in St Louis, hands down. Not super generous with chips and salsa if that's your thing. Like you'll get one round and you'll have to ask for more and you might get it. But the tacos more than make up for it. Fish, Lengua, and Al Pastor are my favorite.

Visited with my parents after landing at the airport and getting a craving for Mexican. We were a bit sus at first because it was very dark and the shop was slow, but goshdangit we all agree this is amazing. Totally recommend.

Had a very nice dinner at a reasonable price. Met the owners and enjoyed speaking with them. They have been in business for 15 years and after eating there I can see why. Be sure to get the home made flaun.

Me and my boyfriend ate here tonight , food was absolutely fantastic. Authentic meats , Al pastor, tinga, very well seasoned. Waiter had a big table so service was not the best but being a waitress myself, I understand!! Left him a big tip. Love the small restaurant cozy vibes. 10/10 amazing food. definitely coming back

Fantastic Hispanic taqueria and tienda next door. The food is delicious and affordably priced. The service and atmosphere can feel unwelcoming but if you look past that -- you're getting incredible food at an incredible price. Easily one of the best places to get tacos in the greater St. Louis area. Placing carryout orders over the phone is super simple, though I wish they had a way to do online orders so I can tweak my order easier.

When you're out of town friends say that St Louis doesn't have good Mexican food you take them here and prove them differently. I've never had a bad experience here. Today I got two tacos al pastor and two tacos de lengua and the meal was incredibly good and the service was fast. They also have a huge liquor selection and imported and domestic beers available.

The lengua was the best in St. Louis! Highly recommend the goat soup! Food came out fast and hot. Their salsa was pretty good too!! Will definitely come back!

Little divey spot with amazing tacos and fresh tortillas. Salsas (yes plural) are authentic and all have character. Yes, the chips are fried tortillas, so they are thicker than you are used to, but you aren't here for chips - this is a taqueria. Couldn't $7.99 lunch specials, $2.50 tacos, and in the county? Yes, please. I've been working down the street for 3 years and not sure how I missed this. Oh, someone bitc-hed about the rice and beans. I thought this was one of the better rounds I have had anywhere in Stl. This is not a Tex Mex spot with oversized portions and utility meat.

I used to work nearby and miss this place but I'm rarely in the area now. Absolutely amazing authentic food, great prices, kind staff. I could eat here daily for the rest of my life. If you like flavorless ground beef crunchy shell tacos, don't go here. If you like Mexican food that you can't pronounce, sketchy-sounding meat locations (go ahead and ask what lingua means, iykyk), and salsa heat that wants to eat you back, this is the place to be. Bottled cane sugar soda or jamaica, horchata and more. Menudo served on the weekends.

The best authentic Mexican food in STL. Drove 40 min to try this place, that was recommended in a social media post I saw. It was Worth the trip. The street tacos and quesadillas were the best I have ever tasted, FRESH and FLAVORFUL. The customer service is amazing and my decent sized order was done within 15 minutes. This place is a must GO if in the area. Wish I found this hidden gem sooner..

Very nice Hispanic food for the money. Love their fish tacos lunch combos at a great price. Always fresh and delicious. Awesome small neighborhood atmosphere, almost feels like in Americas. Usually pretty busy but haven’t seen it full yet. Seems that liquor is served here as well. They have fridges with beer for sale as well as some unique collection liquor bottles. 5 stars!

Barely give you any chips and the chips weren't fresh food was salty and tasted old.

Came in looking for great mexican food and that is what I got. The tostada de ceviche, my top favorite, is so good, light, and refreshing. I also enjoy their shrimp and fish tacos on flour tortillas. Carnitas are also good. I just keep coming back and trying new things. I have not found a bad thing on the menu yet. Don't forget to order an aqua fresca, pineapple is my favorite.

This restaurant is in a non-descript strip mall. It definitely does not stand out if you drive by it on Lindbergh Blvd (a fairly major thoroughfare). It is very close to the airport. I have driven past it countless times and never gave it a second thought. However, my family decided to try it after Ian Froeb put it on his "Top 100 Restaurants in St Louis" list. I later learned this this restaurant was selected as having the best taco in Missouri, per MSN. We really enjoyed our food! The tortilla chips were great, with a nice red salsa. My daughter and I ordered the enchiladas, one chicken, one cheese, and one beef, along with beans and rice. Everything was really good! Be aware that the chicken enchiladas did have pieces of bone in them. The owner came to our table and I asked about this. He said that cooking the chicken meat with the bones adds to the flavor. Judging by the taste of the chicken enchilada, I think he is right! My wife truly loved her veggie tacos. Service was very friendly and very good, and talking with the owner was a treat! Prices are ridiculously reasonable. With a large tip, 3 entrees, and an iced tea, our total was ubder $35. Seruvce is very fast, so this would be a great lunch place. We WILL be back!

La Tejana Tienda Y Taqueria is worth the money spent. The food is great and so is the hospitality. It’s only a 5 minute commute from the STL Airport. The store has a meat market and it sells all types of spices to suit your needs. Highly recommended!

I've been coming here for almost 3 years, mostly on Sundays for lunch. I love authentic mexican tacos; this place has them. We used to go to Cherokee street for good Mexican. Now we only go here or over to Cahokia. I always overeat at La Tejana. I love the cabeza and lengua, and their al pastor, carnitas, pollo, and chorizo are also very good! Great micheladas too! VERY family friendly- no pretense here. Just really good food and friendly service. One of the only places we'd take our kid when she was an infant, toddler and now super active child. Nicely situated next to a quality butcher next door; we usually pick up some lamb (full service cut to order) or marinated skirt for the grill at home. The two shops together make for a routine destination

I've scoured St. Louis looking for a mexican restaurant that at least mimics Californian mexican cuisine...and I think I finally found it. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it but you'll be missing out if you don't go. The lunch menu was easy to read with enough options for a variety but not enough to be overwhelmed. You are greeted to open seating and endless chips/salsa. 3 salsas accompany the presumably housemade chips: a standard mild, green tomatillo, and dark spicy salsa. All were good, the spicy salsa was a bit too hot for me. The green was refreshing with a nice bite. I ordered 3 tacos with grilled chicken, steak, and carnitas...all of which were great (I think the steak was best followed by the chicken). I will say the tortillas were too greasy. Usually I'm served tacos with fresh uncooked or slightly fried tortillas. The tacos were traditional in that the ingredients included the tortilla, meat, cilantro, and onion. Perfect! And for less thst $2/taco The staff was very accommodating. We were waiting for the rest of our group to show, which they got delayed. In the mean time they made sure our drinks were full and eventually offered to take my childs order so he could eat. At the end of the day, this is a great place if you are looking for authentic mexican/californian food for lunch. PS the queso is just shredded cheese...not the ooey gooey queso that goes with the chips...but it went well on the tacos!

Everything tasted fresh, the salsa was delicious, there was cilantro in abundance on my enchiladas. This has to be the best Mexican food in the Saint Louis area, if not the state. This is NOT a fine dining establishment it is an authentic, quaint Mexican restaurant that serves wonderful food with extremely friendly service. This was our first visit and we will most definitely return, SOON. Oh and prices are extremely reasonable.

This is our go-to restaurant when we are looking for authentic Mexican food. Everyone speaks some English, though I usually use Spanish to ask specific questions about the food preparation since I'm gluten free, and they have no trouble accommodating that. The ceviche tostada is one of my favorite foods on the whole planet. They do a nice job with drinks, too, with aguas frescas of different flavors daily, and nice margaritas. The people are friendly, there's Mexican TV playing, and a different special every day.

Salsa was fresh, delicious, and chips were clearly made in house. Margarita was good, reasonable beer selection for a Mexican restaurant. Had a plate and a taco, both were sizeable and reasonably priced.

Very REAL Mexican food. Not a luxury restaurant by any means but if you want Mexican culture in the St Louis area, this is a place you must go. There is your beef and chicken , and there is also cow's head and tongue. Don't judge it till you taste it!! You will be pleasantly surprised!

Made a stop for a dinner with my girlfriend and really enjoyed the food. I had some chicken and al pastor tacos. Seriously good and fresh tasting. We both indulged in a nice sized margaritas before dinner and munched on some chips and salsa until our dinner arrived. Perused a few salsa selections and ranging from smooth, salsa verde to a nice red salsa with a spicy kick. Staff was pleasant and there was essentially no crowd at 7pm. Seems like a hidden little gem to me and I definitely plan on visiting again.
