Great Mexican food with a variety on the menu to choose from.

I know what to expect here, and enjoy getting good quality food at reasonable prices. All the area toltecas are equally good in my opinion.

I called and placed an order for pick-up, already looking at the menu online. I would have ordered online but that was not an option for this location. I ordered two items, the street taco platter which is listed at $14.50, and an order of flan which is listed at $5.99. The order should have totaled $21.72 after tax. The young lady on the phone who took my order was very pleasant but did not give a total. I didn’t really think to ask since I was staring right at the menu when I ordered. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was charged almost $26, I believe it was $25.68. I did not receive a receipt with my order and I tried to ask for a price breakdown but there was an older waitress who recognized me from my job and was talking to me for awhile. As a result, the young lady who took my order and the man who was standing at the register when I walked in, were both nowhere to be found. I paid in cash so there’s no chance that there was some kind of credit card or convenience fee and the price difference is too large for the menu items to have just been listed incorrectly. A $5 difference may not seem like a lot to most, but it’s not what I was expecting to pay and I purposely drove out of my way to this location as it was cheaper than the one closest to me. When I ate my food, I was honestly even more disappointed. The chips were totally stale, my carne asada tacos had no flavor and came with the wrong salsa, the flan tasted burnt and bitter on the bottom, and the rice and beans were the only thing I enjoyed. Very upset that I paid almost $26 for this meal…those are dine-in prices with a tip or alcoholic drink. I truly feel that some kind of gratuity was added without my knowledge or permission, because I’m just failing to understand how the price jumped and why I was not given a receipt. I’ve been eating at La Tolteca for years but have never been this location. I will not be returning and would not recommend.

The host was gracious, the service speedy, but the food was too salty and lacked variety. I ordered an enchilada, burrito, chile relleno combo and got ground beef in a corn tortilla, ground beef in a flour tortilla and ground beef in a poblano pepper, all covered with a thin salty tomato salsa and a sprinkle of cheese. No garnish. No variation in seasoning or sauce and little Mexican flavor (cumin and coriander). I adore Mexican food, authentic or Tex Mex, and this was neither.

After a long day including taking my elderly mother to the emergency care center, we ordered food for pick up and were repeatedly disappointed. We usually love heading over to La Tolteca for fajitas. Disaster started in the parking lot with the dinners leaking all over the bag and onto the car due to both poorly closed tops and cheap aluminum containers. After cleaning up the car and asking for new bags we then proceeded home. The good news is the food was still hot but honestly it was not good and definitely not worth it.

Excellent experience. Food and service were great. The restaurant was very clean too.

Reservations for six, one plate of chips, no drinks besides the alcohol free alcoholic drinks. Air conditioning not operating. Kitchen staff were outside working on vehicles.People were skipped when ordering food. When asked for an additional bowl of chips( unaware that tables get one plate) they brought chips covered in dish soap! Had to get every one up and go to another restaurant .This is my last visit to a La Tolteca ever, actually gave them another chance after getting food poisoning . Can’t believe the health department lets this happen.

The servers were very rude and ignored my family (6) for at least 20 minutes. The older server rolled his eyes when I asked for more water and didn’t come back for a while. When our food finally arrived, my son was given the wrong food. He’s allergic to shrimp to I asked them to make sure he got a beef quesadilla, not shrimp but he was given shrimp anyways. The food wasn’t good and was kind of rubbery. My husband wanted dessert and ordered churros. The plate came to us with multiple ants on it and fingerprints in the whipped cream as if someone had been eating it before serving. The experience was horrible and so was the food. The probability of us coming back here is 0. This wasn’t a pleasant experience. This was absolutely not worth the money I spent.

Food is always excellent, service prompt and friendly. Reasonably priced too.

Food was really good but the server missed several requests and eventually stopped paying attention completely.

We go here whenever we have an urge for good Mexican food. Highly recommend!

What happened? We used to go all the time when we lived close by. The food was amazing, and even more amazing was how fast it would arrive after you ordered. Not anymore. The last two times we were there it was terribly slow. Tonight was the last straw. The kitchen was slow, the waiter never came back to ask if we needed anything or to refill drinks, and we had to ask for the check after being finished our dinners for 20 minutes. Which he still didn't bring. Finally went to the register about 10-15 minutes later because we had somewhere to be. There's a lot of other options for good Mexican food in the area now, I won't be going back here.

My only issue is I have gotten digestive issues the last 2 times eating there. Of which I did not have it before. My 2 son's the last time there had GI issues. Young people usually don't have problems. We all had chicken. So as much as we love La tolteca we will go to a different location to see if it matters.

I was very pleased when I visited with my family. The food was good and our waitress was very attentive. With 2 great grandkids that really liked there meals, we all had a good time. We will go back again.

Raul was our server tonight and made the whole dinner!! Truly the best service I’ve received in a very long time!! Thank you for you generosity and kindness Raul we will be back!!

I’ve been here maybe 75 times in my life, no joke, and each and every time it has been a treat to go to La Tolteca. The staff, like Mr. Raul and Mrs. Rosy, and so kind and attentive, and they even know us now as regulars. The living plants that span dozens of feet across the ceiling and the curved glass windows that span from the floor to the roof add a good vibe to the atmosphere of the restaurant. The tables and booths have just been redone, we noticed, so they’re super comfy and up to date. And of course the food is good, otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this review! One minor thing is that the bathrooms could use an upgrade. They don’t get very warm in the winter and they’re not very comfortable. Otherwise, I love La Tolteca.

Found a fly at the bottom of my drink. When asked to get it taken off the menu, the waitress gave me attitude then didn’t even take it off. Went to the front to pay and asked to get it taken off because there was a fly, and was asked if I had drank it, and if I did then they could not take it off the bill. Luckily I did not drink it (because there was a fly in it) so I got it waived, but they definitely should have been more apologetic, since the drink came to me with a fly already in it. Will definitely not be returning.

Service was excellent. Delicious food and a lot of it for the price.

I was visiting friends in churchville and they recommended this fantastic restaurant I enjoyed immensely if you're in Maryland

Portions are much smaller but more expensive. Ask the price of your beverage if you are frugal. My skinny margarita (because the lime was freshly squeezed) was $15.99. I was floored.

One star is being generous. Shrimp quesadilla had 4 shrimp. Two were mushy One was stringy One was ok Portion was alot smaller than I remember. The whole deal was f☆king NASTY

Very friendly and prompt without crowding you. Food is tasty and large portions. Plenty for another meal and the price is very reasonable.

I am from Phoenix, AZ and it’s hard to find good Mexican food and I love this place. It’s my home away from home.

This was my first visit to the Campus Hills Shopping Center (Churchville Road) location of La Tolteca. It definitely has easier parking than the original down in Bel Air. I was happy to see the Mexican artwork on the chairs that I love at the original location. And happy that service and food were equally as good. The crispy corn chips with salsa and spicy sour cream arrived promptly, as did the huge and citrusy margarita. Since it was a cold day, I ordered the chicken soup. The warming tomato broth had big chunks of white meat chicken, potatoes, rice, and zucchini - most enjoyable. I had been reading online about tamales, which actually prompted my outing. I ordered two, which were tasty chicken surrounded by the massa/corn layer and topped with refried beans and cheese. I did not mind having two chicken dishes as each was uniquely prepared and flavored. Being quite satisfied with these delicious tamales, I decided not to rush into trying to make the recipe I had downloaded earlier. And of course, I can always come back to La Tolteca for more.

Awesome food and nice restaurant

I ordered Birria tacos the meat was dry, flavorless and tough. They didn't give consummè with the tacos. My jaw was in pain after eating one taco. I would not recommend this place based on the food.

It is our new favorite place to go for Mexican food. It is a bit farther than the Aberdeen restaurant, but we like to food better! The chicken wings were excellent. We had the buffalo sauce on the side so that we could use as much or as little as we like. A great recommendation from our server!

Always enjoy a wonderful Mexican meal here. Plus they have the best margaritas!!

Enchiladas Supremely was magnificent 😋

I like Mexican food and this place hits it on the nose or rather stomach.

Started with the Fried Stuffed Jalapeños and loved them. I recommend the Fried Taquitos and Yolanda's. I felt too rushed to eat. We was just starting with the appetizers when the food arrived. We had the fresh Guacamole, made at the table, but the Avocado was not mature enough to be used. It left a bad taste in the mouth. Other than that we had a good time.

My dinner was really good. It was the fajita bowl.

Sad. My family and I are regulars at this location but after our experience today we won’t be returning. The Manager, Raul followed us outside asking for more of a tip. (We tipped $8) on an average size bill… told us $8 wasn’t acceptable. The food was great. So sad because it was our favorite restaurant.

If you pick up your food and pay cash they keep your change without asking.

My friend and I went to La Tolteca in Churchville. The food and service were excellent and I will be back.

Excellent service and atmosphere, however, smaller portions than usual.

I tried the chimichanga platter with 4 proteins, instead of my usual fajitas. The tomato sauce was outstanding- it is succulent, hint of salt, spices poured over the deep fried stuffed corn tortillas. The flavor is so good I need more! 😋 No blubbery chicken. Quality product 👌

Ordered a take out burrito for lunch. I didn't receive a burrito, I received a pile of slop in a take out container. Inside the container there was a tortilla with meat, but everything that should have been IN the burrito was piled on top. And since the tortilla was slathered in refried beans, sour cream, and guacamole it was completely soggy. Threw everything away because it seriously looked like they had scraped a bunch of leftovers into a take out container.

We've never been disappointed here. The staff goes the extra mile to ensure a pleasant dining experience.

Not as good as the LA Toltecca in Bel Air. Red sauce is not as flavorful, the white sauce seems weaker. Chips were almost stale tasting. #123 taco salad had less meat and tasted different. They charged for an extra red sauce. Definitely like the other location better. Would have given 3 stars but our server was great so I upped it to 4.

Always a great time. Service is always exceptional and the food is out of this world good. Wash it all down with a corona! Make sure to get the fresh guacamole made and served tableside.

I had fajitas. They gave me a plate with a bit of lettuce, a tbls of sour cream and a half of a slice of tomato. Not good and the chicken was a precooked out of a bag.

This is my goto place for Mexican. It's never overly crowded and everyone working there is nice. Good is always delicious and warm and oh so yummy.

Had a business lunch appointment there and the food and atmosphere were great. Best part--our server Martín was friendly and engaging, holding his own with some fun banter. He made our experience 5-stars. We will definitely return!

Food was on the dishes that was not listed on the menu. I was served an item that I am highly allergic to. It took 5 minutes for me to get new silverware ( the old was covered with allergy item.) to top it off it was not even cooked right. Well glad I didn’t eat because my friend got extremely Ill from what he ate. Don’t waist your time or money here. Dirty dinging room should have been our first ,no. But they had been good in the past. Must be new owners cutting corners

Quick service, good food and reasonable prices. Even when they are busy you don't have to wait long. Carryout does take a while though as dine in guests get faster service.

Always fresh and fast service. Quesadas are the best!

Brought food really quick and the waitress was really nice

This use to be my go to place for Mexican. It has since lost quality. I was advised not to eat there by co-workers due to them getting food poisoning. My family caught food poisoning and not eating here again.

Here visiting for a lacrosse tournament. Great service and loved happy hour until 7 pm. Kiddo enjoyed her kid's meal. recommend to visit!

Absolutely love this restaurant! The food is always consistently delicious - they have the best chips, guac, and salsa in my opinion and I also love the vegetarian special. The service is always fast and the servers are very nice.

Once again I order food that isn't right. Grande queso is small and I payed for extra chips I didn't get. My street taco Supreme wasn't right either. This has been a go to for me, but recently I feel it's a waste of time and money.

I work across the street and have come by often on my break to pick up food. Food comes beat up, something usually forgotten. I call or go back over and they say they have to re charge me. I’ve given them too many chances. The one waitress also pockets your money and gives you the wrong difference back. I never have any of these issues at the la Tolteca in Joppa MD. The staff is very rude and disrespectful. Just wasted time and money. No more for me.

Slow service burnt food and cold beans and when told they only threw under a warmer barely heating them this place has gone down hill bad

Showed at at 920 and they told me there were closed and it said 10 on the door they looked at us like we are bothering them

Even though some customers are rude or loud (both) when waiting, even though some mispronounce their native foods titles on purpose. The staff are smiling, friendly, attentive and polite. The food is always fresh, hot and tasty as the menu got it looking. The adult drinks are always on point and they beer looking out for your badass little kids to. Make sure you tip your server.

Never going back again. My family and i sat 20 minutes before seeing a waiter. Waited 36 minutes before getting our drinks and chips and then waited another 30 minutes for our meal. That is after our waiter came back and asked us what we order again. Then i found a hair in my food took it up to tell someone and was ignored. Other people had problems too.

We visited when it was really slow, between lunch and dinner, and we had such friendly service and lovely food. The portions were huge.

Order Online, arrived at the restaurant was told online ordering does not work. Re order in the restaurant waited an hour. Good food but service is slowwwwwww.

We used to go to this La Tolteca a lot, but have been very disappointed with it recently. Our carry out orders have been missing items and the food hasn’t been as great.

My go to Mexican restaurant in Harford County when I visit family. This trip was a little disappointing. They didn't have any diet Coke, they said their machine was pouring regular Coke in the diet spot. Also they didn't have the item on their menu that someone in my party requested.

Portions were very small. Prices are going up. Looking for a new place

Hands-down best margaritas ever! Raul and Roberto deliver fantastic service. Food is very good, and we highly recommend getting the table-side guacamole! As far as dishes, our favorites are anything with the chicken or beef tips--both meats are cooked to perfection.

They must have changed chefs because the corn tortillas just fell apart into pieces. Couldn't use them for casadias at all. Plus the food was ok. I had better in the past. A bit of a disappointment.

Come for the guacamole made fresh at your table. Update - the fresh guacamole stole the show again!

fresh made gucamoli was good tatesed like the less expensive gucamoli had to substitute items in my app.wifes meal came out half hour after mine Waiter said it's very hot but it was only the plate that was hot food was luck warm chicken was tough we went there for a romantic Valentine's dinner was disappointed my wife got sick and I got stomach cramp me and wife eat Mexican food alot never get sick.

Roberto makes the BEST guac at this place!

The service at this location has always been spotty, but it has gone straight downhill. Restaurant closes at 10. My party arrived at 8:45, got seated, began to look over the menu, and then the host came out and said "Oh, we've decided to close. Sorry." The Bel Air location is much better.
