Delicious Neapolitan style pizza. A bit expensive.

Great place for a late night eatery. Margherita Pizza was great, the wood fire oven put just the right amount of smokiness. Cesar salad with the anchovy dressing was also well prepared. We sat at the bar and the service was outstanding.

We were 4 and waited close to 90 minutes for a table on a Thursday night, but fortunately, the weather wasn't too hot to sit outside and talk.

Loved this small, great vibe and cozy restaurant in Charlottesville. We just traveled from NoVA to Charlottesville for Lampo.It's one of the best Naploi pizza places. and also love their olives and salads (I am NOT salad lover)...

This has become one of my favorite spots in Charlottesville—a super charming place that invites you to enjoy a great atmosphere. And of course, the food is awesome! My favorite is the Margarita pizza!!

Delicious! We’re not usually keen on Italian food, but the pizza here was delicious! Perfect thin crusts and a lovely balance of flavours on the funghi and leek pizzas.

LAMPO in Charlottesville, Virginia, offers a top-shelf pizza experience that rivals the best I've had globally. This hidden gem, just on the outskirts of old town Charlottesville, instantly captivated me with its rustic charm and welcoming atmosphere. Walking in from the street, we found ourselves seated at the bar, right in front of a charismatic bartender who might also be one of the owners. The authenticity of LAMPO was undeniable, exuding warmth and friendliness. The menu, though concise with around 30 items, was perfectly curated, featuring entrées, salads, antipasti, and pizzas. It was clear from the get-go that these folks knew their craft. The Neapolitan-style pizza crust was as good as any I've had in Naples, Italy, with sensational toppings that balanced both imaginative and traditional flavors. LAMPO is incredibly well-priced, offering an excellent and affordable dining option in Charlottesville. This place deserves a solid five-star rating. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have dined here, though it’s bittersweet as it was my last night in town. The memory of this experience will undoubtedly linger as one of the great pizza experiences of all time.

We've heard a lot about this place. Our first time here and my expectations were exceeded! Great food & great service. Faro salad was amazing and the Neapolitan DOC was exactly what it should be. We'll be back often!

I was excited to finally make it to the new bar/music space but it was a complete let down. I waited in a long line to order a cocktail (1 bartender), at a premium price of $13 despite the plastic cup being 1/2 full of ice. But the real burn came when I received $3 back from my $20. The cashier, with total snarkiness, replied it was a mandatory tip. Excuse me?!?!? Further the only food was greasy sliders or a cheese sandwich BUT it was required to stand in a long line. The seating was inadequate for the number of people. There were no staff circulating to clean up left over containers. Overall, IMHO a total loser.

Ate at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly. The pizza, as usual, was also very friendly.

The wine selection, pizza and olive platter were fantastic. Beautiful day for outdoor dining and the service was solid, even with the added traffic. Would highly recommend.

This is my favorite restaurant in Charlottesville. The pizza is great but the food specials and cocktails are where it's at if you want the "full" experience.

Busy place. Good food. I had a scampi dish and a side of meatballs. Cooked in a wood fired oven. Not a huge menu but everything done well. Had a live Bluegrass band playing outside. Met a lot of nice people. This is a very nice place with good food and great atmosphere and vibe. Give this place a try!!

The staff was friendly and helpful. The service was fantastic. Most importantly, the pizza was outstanding! I’m not sure how pizza can get much better. I guess I need to fly out to Phoenix or New Haven to compare! This is place is a jewel in Charlottesville food scene!

It’s a shame— the pizza is pretty good but the service ruined our experience. The waits, the rudeness, it lost me as a customer entirely and I felt embarrassed to have shown our out-of-town friends this restaurant. Recommend their to-go spot over this one.

This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The pizza sandwich was mind boggling and the pizza was almost as good. We sat at the bar and had a nice conversation with the bartender and pizza chef. I got a closer look at the process and science behind the oven and really appreciate the effort the employees put into the place. If I ever visit again, I will definitely be visiting here.

We were lucky to make it to the first cohort to enter the restaurant when it was opened at 5 pm. We arrived 10 min before 5 and the line was in already. The farro salad was creative and delicious. The pizza crust was soft and thin. Both the margarita and fungi pizza were amazing and just right. I heard that they have a take out joint, I might try if I need to.

Food was great. Place is a little cramped. We had to wait in line for a little before opening to make sure we got a seat. Cauliflower appetizer tasted good, but was a bit expensive for the size. Margherita pizza was delicious. Fungi pizza was good but the marg was better and cheaper. Would definitely recommend and return

Amazing pizza napoletana perfectly done. It’s a small place, get there early and wait less than 30min for a table. Although, waiting is not really a problem, you can stay at Bar Baleno right next door and they call you there. We had time for a Negroni outside before our table was ready.

I had one of their Wood-Fired pizzas and it was absolutely incredible. The crust was amazing it was crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside with a nice Smoky taste to it. All of their ingredients are of premium quality and absolutely fresh I highly recommend this place if you haven't been here already!

Lampo is an absolute delight. Be sure to arrive early and get in line, as this place is smaller than you think and doesn't take reservations. Luckily, even if there is a wait the bar next door is an excellent place to kill some time while you wait. I got the margherita DOC, which has buffalo cheese instead of cows milk cheese. Sounds weird but it was amazing. The buffalo milk cheese was tangy, more complex than the cows milk stuff. Just so good! The cocktails were fantastic as well! Seriously, you can't go wrong!

Great service and even better pizza. It's as good a pizza you'll find anywhere. Crust and sauce are perfect; arguably the most important parts of a pizza :)

Top notch pizza place with friendly staff and very efficient service. The pizzas were all very tasty, as was the roasted cauliflower insalata.

Felt like I stepped into a little European cafe. Such cozy intimate ambiance. I recommend trying the spaghett drink. We've ordered out Lampo before, but nothing beats word-fired pizza straight from the oven.

Had saltati scarola/sautéed escarole, shaved Brussels salad, fire roasted squash all tapas style with chocolate pudding dessert. The pizza Margaretta was great as well. First time trying it and loved it. Delish and will definitely return. It was a sat nite and very busy but service was excellent and wait time for food was short. It took an hour to be seated with no reservation and sooo worth the wait. The aromas were scintillating.

Amazing place. I'm so happy we chose this place for dinner because they serve some of the best pizza ever. The service was excellent and the decor is super cute. We had a lovely evening. I wish they were open on Sunday to take a couple of pizzas for the ride home.

Lampo is a wonderful Italian Neopolitan Pizze place. The pizzas reminded me so much of our time Italy; it was authentic and delicious. The two pizzas we had were the prosciutto and the DOC Margherita. The margherita was a solid safe choice. Splendid authentic sauce, water buffalo mozzarella, and brick toasted Italian crust. The Procuitto was our favorite. The lemon and arugala were a nice surprise and elevated the dish. The cocktails were some of the best we had in Charlottesville. The Beekeper and the Banana Bourbon special were perfect. No notes. Refreshing, not to strong or weak, and flavored beautifully. It's easy to go a little overboard here since the prices are on the slightly higher side. More than one cocktail each can send your bill over the 125 dollar mark fairly quickly. We washed down the wonderful ricotta donuts with our cocktails and enjoyed ever last cinnamonny bite. Fresh, hot, sweet cinnamon donuts with a moist inside. They could probably just sell donuts from a food truck if they wanted to. A strong recommend for Lampo. You won't be disappointed.

Lampo is always a great idea. Not only is the food preposterously good, excellent really, but the late night hours are uncharacteristically amazing in this town. Being open until 12 or later is just icing on the cake, too; I'd eat here pretty much any time of the day, but options for extended hours are amazing. I try to eat as vegetarian a diet as I can; Lampo has a couple great options which I'm still not tired of (which is not always the vegetarian experience when you go out to eat...). Today I had a special-of-the-day pizza which was vegetarian and preposterously good, which happens pretty frequently. There aren't a ton of vegan options because Italians gotta Italian up their food, but the DOC marinara pizza is also a favorite of mine, and just goes to show how solid the fundamentals are. Anyway, top scores to Lampo. I never review places normally, but this place is just such a favorite of mine...

This is a place you want to be if you like a semi casual bustling pizza shop. It certainly has an upscale ambiance, but everyone is close together inside if the place is busy. As for the pizza, it’s outstanding. We kept it simple with a margherita and meatball pies. It’s pure…great ingredients. The house red wine is quite decent. A plus is the new bar next door for the wait. I could review it separately, but the hostess was very willing to walk over and let us know the table was ready. I look forward to my next visit to Lampo and trying something different.

Everything was excellent! The pizze (Italian style), the budino... The olives were amazing as well and perfect to accompany our cocktails. Great service... impeccable evening!

Was looking for a late dinner with my tribe after catching a game out in town and since I’ve got a bunch of Teens - pizza was the top pick. I began to look up some places and was led to Lampos and man was it Good! It’s Friday night and we were seated within minutes, server was really nice and welcoming, the atmosphere was really relaxed, we sat outside. The pizzas were phenomenal, I was really impressed and had to rock-paper-scissors one of my teens for the last slice (I gave it to him), but the pizza was that good. Ended the meal with some fried ricotta covered in cinnamon that came out fresh, delicious. We ordered, two appetizers, two pizzas (fed everyone) and dessert and spent about $70 bucks. Not bad for dinner for the whole family. I’d come back for sure. Thanks for the great service and making us feel welcomed

Great atmosphere and phenomenal pizza!

We are from the UK and the pizza here is some of the best we have had. We got the mushroom and the last one on the menu (meat with hot honey) - amazing and both so different. We sat at the bar and were served by Zak who was so friendly! He even messaged his brother to recommend breweries in Asheville - our next stop. The breweries are incredible too! Thanks so much Zak!

Knew about this spot when they were to go and glad to be able to try them as a sit down!! Delicious pizza and the bread is wonderfully light and crisp!! Definitely a must but they get busy quick because they are so small.

This is a very cool restaurant with great service. The pizza was solid. The menu is a bit limited, but very good. We had the flatbread special with feta cheese and honey (very good), olives (it had large cloves of garlic that really added to the flavor and the olives were very high quality), Verde salad with anchovies (think Caesar salad), the mushroom pizza and the prosciutto pizza (both had a great crust and fresh toppings). We finished with the Italian ricotta donuts (OMG I cannot say enough good things about this dessert! It was like a donut with a moist cake inside.) They serve each pizza with these awesome pizza scissors - pure genius! Lampo doesn’t take reservations, but the wait wasn’t too bad. There is an outside area with seating so you can have drinks while you wait. Good spot!

I ordered margherita pizza and the 3 cheeses selection. The pizza is so delicious, it reminded me of the pizza I ate in Napoli, Italy. The cheese is super good and worth having as appetizers. Nice staff and a cozy place :)

Was a long wait standing on concrete floors by the waiters station. But the food was good.

What a wonderful restaurant. I was visiting a friend who took me there. The food was fantastic, drinks delicious, atmosphere was great and the staff was fantastic. I just wish it wasn't so far away from my home.

D.O.C. Pizza at @lampo_pizza ! @google Places did us well in picking a local pizza place. If you visit, ask for William! He was great, and went over all the different dishes. Took the time to make sure we received a well rounded taste of Lampo! Highly recomended, and your taste buds will agree.

I had my husbands surprise party at Lampo’s new event space. If you’re looking for a space to have a party; i highly recommend this!! I cannot say enough great things about Shelly, Loren, Zack, Elinor and Andrew. They made everything perfect for the party. The food is always amazing. Best pizza we’ve ever had! Thank you guys for being so wonderful and making my husbands birthday so special!!!!

Wow! We were in town for a UVA basketball game, had heard good things about Lampo and it blew our socks off! The marinated olives were amazing, the Insalate was perfecto, and the pizza was the best pizza I’ve ever had. Doughy, soft, pillowy crust with delicious sauce and toppings…. Not to mention the amazing bar service. The craft cocktails were perfectly made. My only regret is not living close enough to Charlottesville to make Lampo a weekly tradition! We will definitely be back when visiting the area again! Do not miss this!

Having lived in Italy for a bit, I love a good DOC pizza. Lampo’s DOC Margarita Pizza was perfectly executed - beautiful crust, fresh-tasting sauce, cheese, and basil. So good. And yet, the pizza probably ranks on the bottom of the list of dishes we ate. The Brussels salad was incredible. The seasonal brown butter sage and squash risotto was amazing. And the ricotta donuts were to die for. And throughout our meal, the service was kind and welcoming and helpful. When we first arrived, the host told us the wait was about 45 mins, but encouraged us to stick around because it looked like they had some no-shows. We were seated 15 mins later. Wonderful experience!

I stay in C’ville often for work and wanted to try something different, so I perused social media for more options and came across Lampo. It’s a local fav, not really close to the walkable touristy areas, but I didn’t mind driving and they do have a good size parking lot. I got there about 30 mins after they opened and they were nearly packed already! (So, get there early!) The bartender was rather busy, not only handling service bar, but also the patrons at the bar. He was friendly, but not very out going, possibly because he was just very busy. They have an interesting menu loaded with unique pizzas and other dishes made on the stove or in the oven and everything is made to order. I tried their bread first and it was really good and piping hot, as it just came out of the oven. Next, I opted for their escarole and it was nicely sautéed with garlic, rather tasty. I then opted for their meatball pizza and had them provide a side of Calabrian pepper oil for me to drizzle on my slices. It was pretty good. Dough was nice, a little rubbery, but nice overall. Meatballs were decent, so was the sauce. Cocktail and wine list were also nice. Overall, it was a decent visit.

First time here since the pandemic. This place never disappoints. Such excellent pizza, food, and service. A real gem and some of the best pizza we have had west of Naples!

If you like pizza, a visit here is a must. The ingredients on the pizza are of the highest quality, I can't wait to go back.

After Lampo on Monticello Ave. being closed for some time due to COVID and construction of the bridge, it reopened on August 4, 2022, and after numerous try’s, I was able to get in Friday, August 12, by showing up at close to 4:30 pm waiting for a seat inside, it wasn’t long before the line grew, I already knew what I planned to order, all my old favorites. Panne bread with oil oil Marinated Olives Peoplettine Al Forno beef and pork meatballs Insalade Verde And of course their Zeppole fried ricotta doughnuts At this time, only iced coffee is available, so I passed and stuck with bottled water, requested lemon slices. Mitchell was at the Pizza oven. Everything was delicious and the service was perfect, ‘ Can’t get any better than this.’ Well Done, Lampo

Best pizza I've had! You have to try this place if you're in Cville!

Pizza is excellent, regardless which one you pick on the menu. Calabrian chilies, nice topping! Pepperoni is nicely charred when ordering that one and don't forget the brussels! Order online, pickup at IX in a short time and home with some cold ones , can't go wrong!

Quality is way down. They switched to a different, inferior cheese that tastes like Papa Johns. The person working the oven seems to not have a clue - the za comes out a congealed mess, with unmelted mozz and a soggy crust. As other reviewers say, the pizzas are typically undercooked. Not worth top dollar anymore.

Avoid after dark - went for a pizza pickup at night at the window, door was locked while the staff was very late on my order; while at the window I was approached by a panhandler -- staff did nothing ...not even allow me inside.

We went to their Lampo2go on the IX Art Park venue. We got 2 muffalata sandwiches, which were horrendously overpriced. Obviously, these people do NOT know what a muffalata is, because what we got wasn't even close. The bread was rubbery and gummy, it was made with sub-par coldcuts instead of quality Italian meats, didn't have tapenade, and wasn't toasted. It made my partner ill, and we threw the rest out, which was enraging because they were expensive.

Do NOT eat here! If you do, then it will be too crowded and I won't be able to get a table.

Pretty good. I came here a few years back, finally got around to leaving this review.

1. They moved. They are at 929 2nd St. and updated on Tripadvisor. 2. They are completely take out and there is absolutely no where to sit outside. I would really like to try their food but not when it’s 90+ degrees outside. Too bad because I was looking forward to some good pizza.

We stopped by on our way to NC, it was a very nice spot with outdoor seating which only catered to the taco place next door. Once you find a place to sit you might enjoy your pizza. Ours was very undercooked which was a disappointment since the sauce and the toppings were so good. Overall a little pretentious for what the pizza was and how it was priced.

Pizza is wonderful, but this time I had the delicious Mufaletta sandwich.

I've probably rated these fine folks in the past, but after enjoying the greatest eggplant parm sandwich, maybe ever, this evening, I had to send them another 5 stars. Unreal. Perfectly smoky. Sauce was heaven.

Very tasty pizza and appetizers. Very popular spot. Order early on weekends. We tried to put an order around 5:30 on a Friday and the prepare time is 2.5 hrs. A little disappointed with the portion size, especially for the appetizers. Otherwise would give a 5 star.

It was fair. Being generous here based on COVID-19 and them having to take extra precautions, but their ordering app said it would be ready at this time and I got there and it still took 18 mins longer than originally was told. I think it would have been much better had we have been able to eat the pie at the restaurant, but driving it across town to eat at the hotel resulted in it just being fair. Would be willing to try it again though to see if I caught them on an “off night”...

Best pizza in Cville. Only downside is the wait time.

Lampo has done a great job with their takeout, making it easy to pickup, and the pizza was great after reheating in the oven. The salads were excellent as usual. I do miss the roasted escarole appetizer, and so here's hoping for in person visits before too long!
