Amazing Cuban sandwich and many treats to choose from

I can see all the past reviews have nothing but praises for this place, sadly that’s what brought me to check it out… the prices are definitely very high for the portions and taste, I got 2 cheese empanadas, 1 chorizo and cheese empanada, 1 tequeño and 1 cachito… as a Venezuelan girl I’m a bit offended that this is the kind of cachitos that are representing us in this area, there’s barely any ham in it and the cheese tasted old, even foul and smelled too, totally inedible. The chorizo and cheese empanada is not really chorizo, is some kind of hot dog mashup mix with some cheese and all 3 empanadas were stale, as if they were from the day before or even 3 days before… I spent almost $20 in my order and could only eat the tequeño, which wasn’t so bad, even tho it has a lot of flour taste…. Hope you guys can take this and try and better things a bit, at least for the costumers that come looking for true latin flavors. Very disappointing..

It is more like the same Las Americas, not much variety so I was expecting fresh out of the oven breads and sweets but no.

Love how tasty and economical the food is here! We got egg stuffed arepas, one with bacon and one without, a sausage and cheese empanada, and a tequeno. Everything was delicious, and the arepas were loaded to the brim with egg. Counter service attendant was very patient and friendly. We'll be back!

The owner greeted us warmly, and made sure we were were taken care of promptly. Delicious, fresh food and drinks as well. They serve cafe con Leche, pastries, sandwiches, parfaits, and a host of other foods, including empenadas. Worth a try, and I love supporting small businesses!

Please come visit Las Americas Bakery! I absolutely love this place! If you’re looking for authentic Colombian/Venezuelan cuisine this is the place for you! There is a wide variety of different types of food to choose from! (I.e: soups, empanadas—better than Mi Apá!—chorizo (sausage), arepas, sandwiches, and MORE!) there are also bakery items, like Flan, Arroz Con Leche (rice pudding), and so much more. I recommend the Beef Empanadas, Chorizo & Cheese empanadas, and try their Arepas! If you want something sweet they sell “Chocolatina Jets” which are fun-sized chocolate bars or the Cocosette! This is a great place and I’ve always had a great experience here with food and service

This hole in a wall bakery is one of the best representations of Latin American baking in Gainesville. I bought 1 of everything on the front displays for my wife's birthday. Despite a slight language barrier, the owners are extremely welcoming and will do their best to bridge that gap with you. They serve a variety of sweet, savory, and mixed of both. They also have a hot menu. And the price is on point with everything! Their bakes are light and airy. The desserts are well balanced. The chocolate cake is perfectly layered and not overpowering. And for someone who isnt into sweets, this is its the perfect amount of sweet. This place is great for a quick dessert, lunch from their hot menu, or just want to bring back home a nice homemade loaf of bread for later. They are well deserving the 5 stars, if not more, and your taste buds. Make sure you ask for the sauces for your savory order, 100% worth it.

Great Deal! Great food! This place is truly a little hidden gem of a bakery/restaurant. We’ve eaten here three times now and upon each visit, keep discovering new little delights on the menu which combines various Latin American cuisines including Cuban, Columbian and Venezuelan. All of the breakfast and lunch items had thus far are unfailingly fresh and delicious and their baked goods are outstanding! Moreover, the prices are extremely reasonable, particularly compared to other bakery/restaurant establishments in town. The proprietors are extremely friendly, welcoming and gracious too. Highly recommended!

Nothing beats homemade baked goods! The woman who helped me at the counter was very friendly and we had a nice chat. There were plenty of options to choose from and everything was high quality at a fair price. Highly recommend!

Authentic and delicious Venezuelan cachitos

I recommend the beef, chicken and chorizo empanadas, tequenos, guava and cheese pastry, and pupusa. Great service and food. Can't wait to come back.

Not much to look at from the outside, but step inside you will not be disappointed. Delicious food, not just a bakery but something of a deli also. Good selection of snacks, breads, and pastries. Very friendly and helpful service. Loved it and will be back.

Hard to get a good Cuban in Gainesville when you’re coming from living in Tampa but they have a pretty decent Cuban. The empanadas are also great. They have a wide variety of pastries and breads as well. It’s hidden but it’s great so head there today.

Awesome place and I highly recommend students/faculty from UF to come. I am from south Florida and the vibes/food reminded me of home. Customer service is excellent as well.

What a shame! Great food, but exorbitant prices! $2 for a Pandeyuca? It must be made with golden sprinkled flour. I pass, I tried it, and when they decide on reasonable prices, I will go back; otherwise, there's no way I am going back.
