Fabulous upscale restaurant. Steak Diane, Scallops, Duck, table side Cesear salad all amazing flavors and presentation. Betty is the ultimate server and so friendly and professional.

Mo is wonderful! The dirty martinis are excellent. Always enjoy the splurge of Girls' Night at Laury's.

My wife wanted to go here for our anniversary. She has never been and I hadn't been for 25 years or more. Good or bad, nothing's really changed since the last time I was here. The menu is basically the same. The decor is pretty much exactly as I remember it. That's good if you really like it. It's not so good if you like something more modern. Truthfully everything about this restaurant is dated. Ít feels like Trung tự impress your prom date in 1984. The food is okay. Ít tastes good but not great. Ít looks good but not great. It's "okay". Unfortunately, for the price, "okay" isn't good enough. I ordered the veal scaloppini piccata. At first, the capers were overpowering and the sauce was too thin for the pasta. As it cooled, the sauce thickened a little and the flavors blended and was much more pleasant. The veal was seasoned well and was tender but wasn't visually appealing. It's breaded but somehow came out grey. My wife had the duck. The menu says it's half a duck. I've cooked plenty of duck and this was not a half duck. She was served two legs, a thigh, and half a breast. There was plenty of food and the flavors were good so, nothing to complain about other than the description isn't accurate. She also ordered the escargot. On the plus side, they weren't chewy like they sometimes are. However, they were completely lost in the cheese mixture. I tried one and wasn't even sure I'd gotten anything but cheese and garlic in my bite. I had the fried goat cheese salad which was probably my favorite part of the meal. They offered us a free dessert for our anniversary which was nice. We picked the blackberry cobbler a la mode. If I were asked to write an advertisement for it, I guess I would call it unique. Typically, cobblers come in one of two types: a pie-type gobble which is fruit covered in a sweet biscuit-like topping, or a cake-type with a batter and fruit mixture baked into a most cakey dish. This was neither. This was a loose fruit compote mixed with what appeared to be dense, doughy dumplings, as if the chef cut noodles out of a pie crust and cooked it with the fruit. The effect was not pleasant to eat. Although I don't like an overly sweet dessert, the blackberries really need more sugar. Without enough sugar, blackberries are bitter. The cobbler was the low point of the meal and the only dish we really didn't like. The service was good. The staff friendly and less formal than I remember from the past. Laury's has a reputation for being "the" fine dining experience in Charleston. That doesn't really come across in the experience, though. I would like to see them update the menu and the decor. They are a piece of Charleston history but, unless you really are stuck in the 80s, there are fine dining options in Charleston with better food, a more modern menu, and an overall better experience.

Laury’s provides a phenomenal experience every time we dine here. This is mine and my husband’s go-to dinner for celebrations, birthdays, or just when we want to ensure we’ll have an amazing meal and enjoy the ambiance. I recommend this restaurant to everyone for the ultimate fine dining experience. Laury’s is by far the best dining experience not only in the Charleston area, but I would go as far to say out of anywhere we have dined. Ever. We travel regularly and are always trying out new restaurants, but nothing compares. We have tried nearly everything on the menu and whether you are ordering their least expensive dish to their most expensive steak, you cannot go wrong. Laury’s is truly the best!

Had a party of 8 and the servise was excellent. I would recommend to give this place a try!!

We loved the soft crab appetizer! Dinner was great as well. I found the filet Oscar too cheesy, but the rest of our food was delicious.

Easily the best salad and filet in Charleston!

Service and atmosphere very good. Appetizers excellent (lobster bisque and crab cake); Wedge salad very disappointing because dressing had almost no blue cheese and tasted like it came out of a bottle. Blackberry cobbler very disappointing; filling tasted like canned pie Filing with very few blackberries and crust was not a cobbler topping but more like thin pie crust. All in all, a disappointment.

Nice restaurant, but it feels like too much packed into a small space. Gets loud when crowded, especially on the upper level. Food was good and the staff are great. Just don't really feel it lives up to the hype or price.

Food was good, but nothing spectacular. It's very old school "fancy" American/French style classics. I will say the desserts are REALLY good and they do the bananas foster table side, which is fun. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, it's not worth the price, but still it's good.

I found the menu very limited. We ea ordered oysters Rockefeller appetizer. When they came to the table we realized they hv peppers, I'm highly sensitive so I never eat peppers & they are not listed on menu in description. Mentioned to our server Mo she just shrugged her shoulders. Nothing stood out to me & I hv no plans to return.

Top shelf food and service, right here in Charleston, West Virginia!

I lived un WV 7 years and to my experience this place has the best food in entire state. Also wine selection. I was surprised to find my favorite Spanish wine in menu. It is a little expensive but atmosphere and food quality are definitely worth that money.

If you're reading this review, I sternly suggest you book a reservation immediately. You will not be disappointed; the food preparation and presentation are equal parts amazing and delicious. The staff are knowledgeable and very attentive; their warm candor lending an aire of authenticity to the entire atmosphere. If I could vote 6 stars, I would.

I went to Laury's with my girlfriend and her family yesterday, after hearing very good things about the restaurant. For a bit of background, I am visiting from London, UK and so naturally I am going to compare anywhere I eat with restaurants back home in the city. Laury's did not just meet my expectations, but they exceeded them. The moment we walked in, we felt taken care of and this would continue throughout the evening with our waitress, Sydney. The service and atmosphere were perfect, I could not fault any of it. Onto the food, I would not hesitate to say that this was one of the best places I've ever eaten at. I went for the cognac chicken, which was cooked to perfection, and was incredibly tasty and delicious. I wouldn't give 5 stars, I would give 10 stars! My girlfriend went for the 6oz filet mignon, and it could be cut with a butter knife! It was very evident that the chefs are highly skilled and knew how to cook brilliant dishes. Value wise, it honestly wasn't too much different to what I would pay for a similar restaurant back in London. You really do pay for quality, and that's exactly what you get. I would highly recommend anyone in the area, living or visiting, to head to Laury's and enjoy the food as much as we did! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience, we will definitely be back!

A shot in the dark by my husband while enroute to Michigan from North Carolina. Most good restaurants have a kitchen that can nail the cook on a good steak or a salmon filet but Laury's nailed the first course bouillibase we shared, as well as the blue cheese salad!! As a retired caterer who still happily cooks dinner at home almost every night, this was a treat that did not disappoint. Michelle was the frosting on the cake!

We are from metropolitan DC, but I was born and raised in Charleston. This was on par with fine dining establishments in the city. It was wonderful! And, I have been around the hospitality industry for over 40 years.

Amazing dinner, highly suggest the duck!

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. Our steak and mashed potatoes were excellent. We were able to share our meal and then have dessert. It was my wife's birthday and you get a free dessert, we had banana foster, it was great. Overall our meal and service was excellent.

Incredible food and service. We recently dined with friends from Arizona. The escargot is some of the best I've had. Three of us had duck, and the other person had the veal picata. Everything was wonderful. Glenn was our fantastic server. We wrapped up our dinner with three cobblers and one bananas foster along with coffee service. Reservations are highly recommended.

Laury's Restaurant is probably the most elegant restaurant in Charleston. It's located in the historic train station in Charleston that offers beautiful views of the Kanawha River and Haddad River Front Park. It's also right next door to the Carriage Trail where former Governor McCorkle rode a horse and buggy to and from the old Governor's mansion and people can still walk up and down it today. Laury's Restaurant has a wonderful wait staff, beautiful decor, excellent food that is made to order, and even a small bar. They also have a convention room for meetings and parties. Laury's Restaurant is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 5 to 10pm and while reservations aren't required they are highly recommended because seating does fill up fast.

Great atmosphere, great food, and Betty was an amazing waitress! She told us the history and mentioned that she has worked there since 1996. She gladly accommodated a dietary restriction and went out of her way to make our dinner a memorable experience. Her bananas foster with toasted almonds was delicious. Great find if you are looking for fine dining while in Charleston, with a fantastic view of the river.

Great food, atmosphere, and service.

Laury’s dining experience was exceptional. My husband and I ate there while in town for a business convention. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It was fine dining at its best. The restaurant itself is beautiful as well. This was our second visit to Laury’s together and Lord willing not our last.

This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we LOVED it!!! The food was phenomenal! We literally used butter knives to cut our steak..absolute perfection! It was slightly odd however that they take your entire order at the beginning of the meal but everything was timed out perfectly. I am crazy when it comes to timing food because I do not want my salad before my appetizer or my appetizer with my steak. They have perfected this. It is definitely an amazing experience and the atmosphere was superb. We will definitely be going back and I can't wait! I ordered the filet ordered medium rare, and it was great, perfectly cooked. The Caesar salad was a little strong on the taste of anchovies, but it was still good. French onion soup was great. The shrimp cocktail were huge! Also, a friend that we were with ordered a lobster tail and it was delivered off the shell, i wouldve ordered one had i known that! The staff were all very friendly as well, again, we can not wait to go back and we definitely can't stop saying all good things about this place!!

Dinner was fantastic! Service was excellent. All pro’s on Valentine’s Day. Watched the staff handle an old man throwing a fit, with grace, that he didn’t deserve. Walks in on Valentine’s night demanding to be seated. Doesn’t work that way, dude. Lol. We will definitely be back.

Awesome restaurant! They were super jammed on Valentine’s Day and some guy threw a tantrum over not being able to sit at a bar that doesn’t have seats, the staff didn’t miss a beat! Imagine going to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day as a walk in and expecting to get a table?? Guy was a joke. Anyway, food was great, service was great, and the boomer side show was just delightful

They’re booked for Valentine’s Day, I get it. Saw empty places at the bar, guess they don’t serve my kind here. OH, and I walked a mile from the 4 Seasons to get here. C ya!

Right from when we walked in the door, to when we were leaving, the reception, the service, the ambiance was spectacular. The food was great, not 1 person working in there made us feel irritated. We come from Canada 🇨🇦. We will be back to Laury's everytime we will drive through this area!

I emailed the restaurant a week prior to the reservation, on their site, and using their info. I did not hear back. Mind you, I live in western time zone. My ask was to celebrate a birthday at dinner. The response from the hostess was that the person responsible for responding is also cooking, and she listed multiple other tasks. I’m so sorry, Chef Laury, that your business model doesn’t allow for others to manage these tasks. I’m also sorry my steak was over cooked and your hostess was less than customer-centric. Thank god you are small town.

Our Office Christmas dinner was canceled by another restaurant in the area last minute. I called Laury’s and was able to secure a reservation that same evening. They were MORE than accommodating. From the moment we were met at the door, to the moment we walked out of those same doors, we were attend to with excellence. Our server was amazing, the food was delectable! We had everything from Cajun Chicken pasta to Bone in Ribeye, as there were 8 of us in our party, all was cooked to perfection! (The escargot appetizer was melt in your mouth). Our seating was in the balcony, which was perfect for privacy as we were unwinding from a very busy day in a medical office. Two of us had the chocolate soufflé-OMGOSH! It’s a must try! Several had the banana fosters and were equally impressed. We will definitely book our next office dinner here again! Thank you to Laury’s excellent staff for helping to make our Christmas merry!

The food was very good, dining room spacious, non-intrusive background music at a low volume, ambience perfect. The young lady who served us was the best thing about the place though. Very informative, friendly and attentive - she really made us feel that it was important to her that we had a good experience. This was an anniversary dinner for me and my wife, but we will definitely find other excuses to return.

Recommend you check this place out. The only negative that we had to say, while having dinner here, is that the bar tender didn't really know what an Old Fashioned drink should be. It wasn't prepared well and it was presented in a weird glass that took away from the experience too. Otherwise, our dinner was great and the atmosphere was great, service was great! The table side Caesar salad was a great show and was delicious. My husband had a ribeye and I had the Asian flavored salmon dish. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't recommend the carrots. The cut made the doneness inconsistent.

Food is really good. We are rack of lamb, scallops and Cajun pasta. All were prepared very well and were delicious. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous.

Great atmosphere - really beautiful inside, with a variety of delicious fine dining entrees and attentive, friendly service. They offer souffles on their dessert menu - be sure to let them know ahead of time as they take 40 minutes to prepare but they are well worth the wait. The restaurant is right on the river with an excellent view of the water.

First time here to this elegant resturant. Stacy, the host, seated us near a window looking out towards the city. We started with a glass of wine and a well made dirty Martini by Patrick. No appetizers this day. Our server was Mo. She was so good, and attentive. Her smile and friendliness added to a super night celebrating my wife's birthday. My Mrs had the Petit Fillet Mignon with mashed potatoes. She also had the creamed spinach. It was the first time I saw her "clean her plate" it was that good, she said. I had the Veal Piccata over linguine. Lots of capers and delicious flavor. For sides we ordered the Artichoke Au Gratin. You've got to try this one! Also, I always have to try Mac n Cheese. It was made with large spring pasta and definitely different cheeses. It was good. We finished with a Pretzel Brownie with Vanalla Bean ice cream. It was on the house for her birthday. All in all, we would rate this the finest resturant in the entire Charleston area. We love trying resturants over the years and have traveled extensively. This is one if those that fits into our top five.

Historical train station converted to restaurant with a view of the river across from downtown Charleston, WV. Laury was the Chef for former WV Gov Underwood. Food was diverse and delicious!

Amazing food if you're willing to wait. I called for reservations about 10 minutes after they opened and I still had to wait for over an hour when I arrived. But like so many things in life, anything good is worth waiting for.

We had a 7:15 dinner reservation on a Wednesday night and we drove over the river from our hotel with the aid of our GPS. It was raining but we luckily found a parking spot near the door. They gave us a nice quiet table near the back of the restaurant. We shared a Caesar Salad prepared tableside by our excellent server Emily B. I had a filet mignon with crab, asparagus and bearnaise and my wife had a Petit filet with whipped potatoes. We also had a good bottle of Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. The restaurant was very nice and the food and service was excellent.

Friends treated us to our first time here. What a pleasant surprise! Filet and salmon were 10’s. Service was wonderful. Excellent bar selection. For fine dining, this is the premier location in Charleston, WV. And excellent view of the city scape if you are in the right table.

We are from Ohio and were just passing through, but our amazing visit will bring us back for sure. We stopped in for desert and drinks, on a night when they were packed with a large group and lots of patrons. We just really wanted to try the bananas foster (and they were to die for, by the way!). The hostess was so kind and helpful and found a server willing to take us. Our waitress was FANTASTIC. Even though we knew she was slammed with other tables, she had a welcoming smile and an upbeat attitude, and took her time with us. Probably one of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. Thank you, Claire! You absolutely made our night! 10/10

This was a perfect dinner. Steak Diane-5 Stars, Oysters Rockafeller 5 Stars, Lobster stuffed mushrooms-5 Stars, Lobster Ravioli 5-Stars. Service was exceptional, food was incredible, atmosphere was wonderful. Overall I think it tops my list of favorites. If I had died before eating at this restaurant I would have felt cheated. We do not live in the area and we were traveling. Ate here after we had got into the hotel earlier than expected. All I can say is I can’t wait to get back to Charleston West Virginia so that I can eat at this restaurant again.

Excellent food, service, and facility but very pricey.

We could not be happier with Laury's. The service is prompt, professional and warm all at the same time. And each meal is incredible with luscious flavor and presentation. When you want to be pampered, this is the place to go.

My wife and I are in our 60s and this is a top 10 all time restaurant based on our travels in the US and Europe. Superb service from Glen with recommendations, perfect pacing and service. Tableside Ceasar for two, perfect MR filets and a Grand Marnier souffle ( order early with cocktails) reminded us of our anniversary dinners at the Jockey Club in DC years ago. No more flying from Raleigh to Louisville to see our grandson, we will be driving and staying in Charleston to dine at Laurys!!!

Simply incredible! Stacy's warm welcome and Charles's impeccable service combined with world class cuisine - Saffron Scallop and Crab Appetizer, French Onion Soup, the PHENOMENAL Rack of Lamb, and the superb Gran Marnier Souffle made for an unexpectedly enjoyable evening!

I have eaten here many times over the years and I've never been disappointed. The food is delicious, the service is great and the dining area is wonderful. I recently took my 11 year old granddaughter for a "grown up" dinner experience and she absolutely loved it. The wait staff made it very special for her.

Laury's is a reliably great fine dining experience. Great food and a great atmosphere. I usually get the filet with a side of mac & cheese, and it's one of my favorite meals anywhere.
