The trio of starters, perfectly balanced flavors and textures, mushroom umami flavors more intense than I've ever experienced. I hope I'm back in town on a Sunday again soon so I can stop by, an unforgettable lunch experience.

We arranged a private dinner for 7, and it was wonderful. This couple puts so much love into their food and it felt like we were eating in someone’s home. Great food, wonderful people.

Come hungry!! We came for Sunday brunch. We were sat and served a 3 course meal for $15 a person. There was no menu. Everyone is served the same thing. The food was phenomenal. It was flavorful and came in moderate portions. We were quite satisfied and left with full tummies. The atmosphere is quaint and quite European imho. Would highly recommend for brunch.

My friends took me to a lunch at le petit cafe’. I chose one of the lunch special which was a soup of the day, quiche lorraine with a side salad. The food was ok. However, towards the end of our lunch, they came and said they had to use our table for an upcoming group of ten. My wife and I dined here when we visited 39 years ago when this very young couple had just started this tiny restaurant in a garage on the wrong side of the tracks, so to speak. It was wonderful with only three four main courses on the board and a passed-around green salad. It became in my mind the kind of restaurant I would own, it I would ever have one. It became an icon in my mind. Now after 39 years, coming back was like a visit to the past. The restaurant didn't move but the city has come to it. We aren't young couples any more but the place didn't disappoint. It is usually hard to meet the high standard of a long held fantasy but this couple is still the real deal. The menu and concept are still mostly the same. Their smiles good cheers and joie de vive remain. It was a great home coming. They are as welcoming as they were 39 years ago. We had a great time chatting and reminiscing. For reality after 39 years to satisfied fantasy is not easy but it worked. Our grilled lamb leg was unusually tender for this cut. The very lightly baked and sauced salmon melted in your mouth, moist and fresh. The steak with blue cheese butter was cooled just right with a bitter not dominated by the cheese. The side dish of basil pasta was perfect. Of course, the nicest couple is still the nicest couple. They exemplify the simple country French food in the most unassuming way. Choices are not mumerous but they are all good and the overall experience is great fun. Madame is as beautiful as ever. Bravo!

Part of the reason for is this is because they have very limited hours, mostly just a few lunch times a week. We went on a Thursday for the buffet. Since this restaurant has a big sliding window from the kitchen to the B-line trail, they have set out a big shade umbrella and a menu chalkboard to give people who might not normally try French food, and those who love it, the chance to get a little something to go! This restaurant's theme is to keep the menu small, local, and fresh. For the most part, it accomplishes this. It is VERY laid back. Wine is either in a carafe, or a glass, and the choice is limited to white and red. I enjoyed the two entrees that we had, and the country style veggies served to the four of us in large bowls were ok--not much in the way of seasoning. The salads were rather bland, and my husband's cold strawberry soup was like a smoothie in a bowl. They really tried on this though, and there were some nice things--the entree's sauces were tasty. My husband and I are long time area residents, yet this was our first visit to Le Petit. We have always wanted to try it, had heard good things, so when the Devour menu came out we decided to stop by. We had great service from the get go, the wait staff was very friendly.
