I’ve went back and forth on whether to leave 4 stars or 5 stars. I’m settling on 4 stars because our visit got off on the wrong foot right away. Made a reservation earlier in the week for 12:30pm to celebrate my wedding anniversary. We arrived approximately 5 minutes early and checked in. Right behind us a group of two checked in and a group of 5 who couldn’t find their reservation. Both groups were taken to their table before us & despite having a 12:30 reservation. We weren’t sat until 12:45. Not sure what the issue was or why those parties were sat before us. But what is the point of a reservation if I’m still going to wait 15 minutes? On top of that both ladies checking in and seating parties didn’t seem to enjoy their job. This was further solidified when my wife asked where the bathroom was and was given a short answer. Too me part of booking at fine dining restaurant like this is unparalleled customer service from start to finish….. That wasn’t the case yesterday. I will say the meal was fantastic. Minus a couple of hiccups of it taking over 15 minutes to get bread. We were told the runner brought bread to the wrong table, which seemed to be the case because the table next to use who came in 10 min after us got bread right away. Our waiter, Ming noticed this and brought us bread immediately. The runner also mixed up which soup my wife and I had. All in all, if the service was better, it was a 5 star experience. But yesterday it wasn’t and the start of the experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I’m not sure if I’ll be back despite how good the meal was from first course through dessert.

This place is outstanding. Any time we are in Virginia, we find a way to swing through Williamsburg to indulge in a meal here. There is not a single dish on this menu that leaves more to be desired. The chefs nailed it. The French onion soup is out of this world- creamy and rich with a touch of cheese. We almost always grab a few quarts to bring home and enjoy later. The fois gois is decadent. This is one of the few places I know I can count on my stake being perfectly cooked and seasoned with sides and sauces that bring it to another level. Save space for the desserts, too! I'm a sucker for creme brulee, and the souffle second to none. The staff are friendly, know the menu and how to complement each item with the ideal wine or cocktail. They are attentive, along with a peaceful ambience. Go here, treat yourself, and make sure you bring your appetite.

C'est délicieux -- it's an excellent restaurant experience. Candlelit dining room with hardwood and semi-colonial design familiar to Williamsburg. Ordered the Soup du Jour, Boeuf et Homard, and Trio de Sorbets from the fixed price menu. All of it was well prepared and balanced with full flavor, juicy cuts, and good presentation. I would be unable to offer any improvements to the dishes I ate and at no point did I think there was too much or little of any given component or flavor. The staff made me feel welcome the moment I walked in and I did not wait long at all for my order to come out. Can't wait to come again!

Just had a celebration on Sunday. Was dressed well and waiting at the door. Storm came in and floor staff Watched a group of diners get Soaked. They Ignored our knocks, phone calls and verbal requests just to be let in out of the rain for only 10 minutes. Contacted the manager “Howard” via phone on the next business day , was told “something was going on “ and we couldn’t open the door to let us in the standing hallway even one second . What a cop out….No one apologized that day/later or even Cared ! So Disappointed with the behavior and response! NOT A “FINE” experience for Hundreds of dollars!

This is a beautiful fresh airy restaurant. We enjoyed a perfectly cooked halibut fresh fish very delicious. I don’t even wanna brush my teeth. It’s so dang good !!!!!Well seasoned French onion soup. Not to mention their grand marier’ soufflé, which is so wonderful. Remember to order with your food because it takes time to prep this delicious dessert. The waiters and waitresses had clean uniforms. Something you don’t see all the time in other restaurants.

Perfection!! Visited with my fiance for my birthday dinner on a Thursday evening. We were very lucky to get a last-minute reservation as they were booked. The ambiance is warm & inviting in an upscale atmosphere. The service was impeccable, friendly & attentive. We ordered off the prix fixed menu with the salad, French onion soup (best I have ever had!), Salmon, & 2 different chocolate desserts. Everything was presented so beautifully & tasted amazing!! Highly recommend when in the Williamsburg area, you won't be disappointed!! Just say oui!

Edit: a woman named AMANDA SWAN FULTON attacked me via Facebook after posting this review. No clue how this place has the high ratings. Maybe because it's in a food desert. First, for a restaurant this expensive someone should have come to quality check ONCE in the 3+ hrs we were here. Not once did our waiter come. It took about 45 minutes for them to take our order. We were sat at 5:30 and no one was here and yet it took almost an hr for our server to take our drink order. I ordered the filet rare. It came medium. I usually wouldn't send something back but when it comes 2 temperatures more done than I order I feel I got a totally different meal. I also ordered a glass of red wine which took 45 minutes AFTER my steak was dropped, to arrive despite me ordering it with my entre. I sent it back and got a rare steak but the potatoes were charred and I'm not usually a fan of the burnt flavor. They serve soufflé and I tend to be picky about souffle as I've never had it outside of France. I asked our server how good it was, and he assured me it was excellent. It was burnt on top, cooked full and not fluffy or light as it should be. I re-ordered the lemon cheesecake and it was quite good. They claim the chefs are French. I've been all over the country and have yet to encounter such poultry food or absent service. It's good they add the 20% automatically bc the service isn't attentive enough to warrant much of anything. No quality check, got our orders wrong and what's more, added 2 extra glasses of wine to our order. Would NOT recommend

What a wonderful find on a trip to Williamsburg. Elegant setting, thoughtful staff and well paced dining. Novel twist on French Onion soup, and certainly worth sampling. We were in the small dining room near the entrance. I suspect that the large dining room might be loud during peak hours. Just a thought.

Went to Le Yaca for our 20th anniversary. It was a great experience. I made my reservation online. They greeted us at the door with a Happy Anniversary. We went straight to our table. The server was knowledgeable about the menu and very prompt with each course. The food tasted amazing. It is probably one of the best meals I've ever had. The drinks were delicious. The bathrooms were very clean. The only thing I would have liked is to not be in the middle of the room. It was very busy even for a Wednesday and very noisy. I know we are no more important than anyone else, but we rarely eat out and it was our anniversary. A quieter spot would have been better. But I won't take off a star for that. It is just a personal preference. We will definitely be back for future anniversaries and special occasions. Since it is very expensive, it will be a treat once in a while.

So Ok my input so side salad was disappointing but yummy and main appetizer salad was really gooood with well balanced flavor where they separated the lental beans which tasted like walnuts by the way and as for the white thing on the salad idk what that was but good also. I ate everything separately to have a taste of each individual part of the salad to enjoy it. Moving on to the steak. It was delicious with a semi sweet gravy base sauce which pared well with the potato pie I am calling it. By the way the potato pie has bacon underneath it. As for the small salad side thing there it's a replica of the appetizer salad but smaller. The chefs cheese cake was great. Tho the side of raspberry sauce was too much. Having the sauce on top of cheese cake was good enough to not overwhelm the flavor of it. And the sherbert was really sweet. Overall presentation of the meal was exquisite. I love how they did salad first and then the main dish was next after I finished my salad. They never rushed me or came back to take things I had not pushed aside. Their timings felt perfect when I was done they picked it up. And brought the next meal out. The only thing I said I did not like was the side salad disappointing... Tho sauce for it was elegant. Out of a 10 I would give this a 9.5 just due to side salad.

I spend a lot of time in France for work, and Le Yaca met and exceeded my expectations in every way! I particularly enjoyed the crêpe au crabe (crab crêpe), which seamlessly blended traditional French and Mid-Atlantic ingredients and cooking techniques. Le Yaca used authentic (local?) lump crabmeat—the “good stuff”! My dining companion had never tasted a tiramisù as good as Le Yaca’s, appreciating the “cakey” yet moist consistency. Likewise, I enjoyed my Charlotte au citron et coulis de framboise (lemon cake with raspberry syrup)! Will gladly return!

La Yaca was recommended to us by 2 different friends. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it! We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. Within minutes someone came and poured ice water for us and said our waiter would be with us shortly. Within a few minutes our waiter came, brought us bread, and took our drink order. He asked if we had any questions and said he would get our drinks and be right back. It took maybe 10-15 minutes and he was back with our drinks. He explained the specials and asked if we would like to enjoy our drinks and continue looking over the menu or go ahead and order. We needed more time…. He checked back in 10 minutes or so. We ordered from the three course menu. Our soups were on the table in 10-15 minutes! Each course was delivered shortly after finishing the preceding course. Not rushed but very timely. Shortly after each course was delivered, our waiter stopped by to be sure everything was perfect. It was! The atmosphere, meal, and service were excellent! My wife had the soup of the day, a tomato gazpacho (loved it!), Scottish salmon, and chocolate fudge cake with ice cream! I had the French onion soup (it was awesome!), tenderloin filet with lobster tail (again amazing- the sauces were delicious!), and crème brûlée. This was one of the nicest dining experiences my wife and I have had!

For the first time ever we were disappointed. We've been visiting Le Yaca since the 80's when it was at its original location near Kingsmill and Daniele Bourderau greeted us. This past Saturday night we found the service and food to be sub-par. We had a 7:30 reservation. It didn't seem overly crowded. We were in a room that we ended up dubbing the "training room". Everyone seemed to be waiting for something - their meal, their dessert, water, drinks, whatever. Belatedly we were asked how our meal was - it was good, but not exceptional as we've come to expect. The waiter failed to keep our water glasses filled, something we've never experienced here. The wine we've always ordered wasn't the same (the Languedoc). It's not expensive but it always tasted the same. This had a different label and lacked the body of the previous wine. We will return but hope this is not the new norm.

Had been to Le Yaca about 5 years back and so I knew of the type of ambiance, food, and hefty cost that it proffered to the innocent diner...On that occasion I was impressed (albeit factoring in the bill one would expect nothing less).... This past 14 May I dined with a friend for my birthday....Alas!.....One can rarely duplicate first experiences and such was not the case this time...As having never tasted this surprise addition to the menu, we both had ordered the Beef Wellington expecting a culinary treat befitting an entree with such a well received namesake.....Zounds!....What a soggy, sorry excuse for this storied dish.....It looked like a glop of brown goo was poured over a well-done piece of beef that was surrounded with a ghastly pastry....The pastry was certifiably cardboard in texture as well as taste, and it added nothing to the plate...Of this brown goop we asked our server of what it was....He replied - pureed mushrooms....Yuck, yuck and more yuck...It only insulted anything it was applied to....And to lament further on the base of all this - the beef - is quite inexplicable for a 'fancy French restaurant'...It was a desiccated, well-done piece of meat enjoying no favorable characteristic and was lying their on our plates like an afterthought only... ....For the unwarranted price, let alone for the assault on our senses I would give Le Yaca one star...... But Alas again!!.....I can not give it any - zero stars - for as my lady friend and I looked around all we could see were patrons (male) attired in only shirts and slacks....There were no jackets nor ties to be seen anywhere....Indeed, a few dolts at a nearby table were even sporting baseball caps (I kid you not)...Regrettably this demonstrated how lapse the dress code has become (certainly here) in many establishments in everyday life...... .....For those wishing a fine meal take heed at my review.....Ambiance and snobbery do not a fine meal make....And paying an exorbitant amount does not show one's good taste, only one's lack of discernment...........

We had dinner reservations and were promptly escorted to our seat. Our waitress came right away to greet us. She got us situated with our drinks and gave us a run down on the evening specials. Everything on the menu looked amazing. My husband decided to have the grilled Scottish salmon with sautéed spinach, crispy potatoes and a lemon-caper beurre blanc sauce. I decided to have the beef tenderloin with a cognac peppercorn Demi glacé along with seared shrimp and orzo risotto with a champagne saffron sauce. Both of our meals were superb. The salmon and steak were cooked perfectly. The risotto was delicious. From the ambience, the service and the food I highly recommend Le Yaca.

I am so very disappointed with this high class restaurant with a wonderful known history and the following is the reason. I purchased (by phone) a $100 dollar gift card on April 9th for a couple celebrating their 49th anniversary directly from the restaurant and the couple were going to dine there on April 13th. The gift card was never received by the couple as I was informed and when I called the restaurant they had no record of my purchase. I called numerous times to the restaurant to speak with the owner, Joy, but she never returned my phone calls. I also spoke with Ory who answered the phone each time. I called and spoke with Howard, manager, numerous times and he gave me an invalid email address to send the email I received confirming my purchase. I am highly disappointed in such service and lack of communication in this situation and will never trust this restaurant in the future. I do hope this hasn’t happened to other people but would be interested if it has.

it was enjoyable. Food and service were excellent. The only downside was noise level!!! They need some kind of acoustic level help. Always a treat to go to Le Yaca.

Last night, we celebrated my birthday. As usual, the food and service were impeccable! Both my husband and I had the crab cakes which were the best that we have ever had in Virginia since we have been here. They are all crab meat! You need to try the crab cakes. We just love Le Yaca!

My sister-in-law was thrilled to be able to get escargot and my salade de boeuf was delicious. Love the warm French bread. A perfect special lunch!

Always a great experience in French dining, though one attribute that made this place extra special is no longer: value. The soup of the day is always a must-have, and today was no exception (potato leek). Also, a special dinner app, baked oysters, was nicely sized and delicious. Looking forward to my next visit!

Table was ok. Even with reservation we sat at the entry way from lobby into bar area. The table was a wobbly metal patio table. The fish of the day was flounder topped with crab meat and orzo for $50. Would not recommend it.

The lunch menu is absolutely wonderful. We got the 3 course lunch and wound up taking some home. The crab crepe is divine! The staff are wonderful and Axl is a great server! We did call ahead to make sure we could get in for lunch and it wasn’t a problem on a Friday lunch hour. Do try the sorbet! The lemon is so tart and delicious!

Six of us, all long-time friends, were celebrating a birthday, and could think of no better place to celebrate. We went to the Saturday brunch, and it was divine The ambience, service and food were all perfect. And the Birthday Girl was treated so special all through our meal. We will all definitely return.

The overall experience was pleasant. The food was fantastic and the restaurant is beautiful. Maybe it was just our table but the service was really off. The service was really slow, our water was refilled once in 90 minutes and part of our meals weren’t delivered at the same time making it awkward.

This is far and away the best restaurant in Williamsburg. It's true fine dining -- the only real fine dining you'll find here when it comes to the food, service, ambiance, etc. They cook fish (get the special of the day) as well as any restaurant I've been to in the country. The steaks and lamb chops are the best in town and the veal is tender and cooked superbly. The plating is outstanding -- the meals LOOK as good as they TASTE. There's a good wine list and servers are attentive; plus you're not rushed. And the prices, while on the high end for Williamsburg, are a flat-out bargain compared with comparable restaurants in cities like D.C., Nashville, Chicago, and New York. We dine here at least once a month. It's just great.

This is our favorite restaurant in the Williamsburg area and the food is always excellent. However, some of the regular entrees on the lunch "Prix Fixe" menu have been significantly changed since our last visit. We preferred the previous versions. Service, as always, was outstanding.

A fabulous experience for our Valentine's dinner! The food was perfectly prepared and tasted divine. I had the lobster and crabcake and it could not have been better! The tiramisu and creme brulee finished off the meal perfectly! We will definitely plan a return visit next time we are in Williamsburg!
