Food is good, overpriced for sure, but the thing that bothers me is that the takeout containers are in black plastic which is not recyclable in Vermont, even their to go silverware is black plastic. For this reason, I won’t be getting takeout from there again.

Very disappointed as for quite awhile no half bottles of wine....I wanted a glass of Chardonnay..only 1 was available from CA and it was not good at all for $13 per glass and no house Chardonnay available. ..tis. sad.

Calamari was delish. A little crispy, better ever cooked than under. Vegetable soup was tasty. Staff was accommodating.

I paid $14 for a house salad. The side salads the others got were the same size as mine. It was very disappointing. And either the plate was warm or the salad was.

We got there for 5:15 pm to take advantage of the early bird special Early bird special runs from 4 to 6 pm You get a 4 course dinner for $25.00 not including drinks or extras. You get 5 meal choices. The food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Great experience

There are some really good stuff and some just not up to par. Do not forget to order bread and pesto!

One of the best spots in Burlington. The atmosphere is unbeatable, and the Parisian flair is so great. Awesome outdoor seating, and service was wonderful. The steak frites, wedge salad, and oysters were all incredible. Affogato was sizeable and delicious aswell.

Food was excellent and the bartenders were very friendly. Only critique is we were seated at a table but 20 minutes went by and no service. We moved to bar and had a great evening.

What a bummer. One of my most reliable and favorite go to restaurants has managed to not only disappoint, but embarrass me in front of my guests. Friends flew in from out of town for the holiday weekend. I was to pick them up after work, but they came in early so they Uber’d over to Leunigs where I had a standing reservation. They were seated, not associated with my reservation and upon my arrival I learned that they were handled very shabbily. Front of house manager made them feel unwelcome and put out by having to seat them. This was 4 PM and the restaurant was empty. I arrived and noticed that my friends were sat at the table that I had requested to be seated at when I made the reservations over a month ago. So not only were they welcomed with attitude, the table that I had reserved was given to them, without the thought or consideration of reserving it for me. After learning about the mishandling of my guests, I promptly asked for the check and we left. It’s such a sad day when you find a place like Leunigs, an institution which you could always trust to make you and your guests feel comfortable and well taken care, fall into a service challenged and unfriendly black hole. Yes, I know we all have our bad days but when you’re prepared to spend hundreds of dollars to entertain fine friends, fine service and smiling faces should follow.

Pros: The steak was excellent but didn't have enough au poivre. Great wine list and cocktails. They got us a reservation at the last minute on a busy Friday night, which was appreciated. Cons: Service was lackluster and bordered on condescending at one point. We were never checked on during the meal or asked if we enjoyed the food, and the waitress wasn't even the person who delivered it. "Frites" were not frites, they were Belgian style fries. Wedge salad had blue cheese chunks on it but also ranch dressing?? Escargot had cheese on it, which was new to me, but didn't taste bad. We should have known that the popular location likely meant it wouldn't be our favorite meal.

Terrible food Very slow service

Had a birthday meal here for our son who attends uvm and a few of his friends. We all had enjoyable meals....we did an early sitting with a 430 reservation, so beat the rush. Sat inside near the open air doors and enjoyed the atmosphere. 3 salmon meals, a beef meal, and carbonara. All were good. Everyone had salad and it was tasty start for the meals. I had the salmon frites which was on point.

Leunig's used to be a go-to place for us when an acquaintance attended UVM during 2011-2015. I was always amazed at the quality of the food - the freshness, the preparation, the presentation, and of course, the taste. This visit years later was a disappointment. To start, the cheese plate used to be an artistic highlight with delicious local cheese, fresh fruit, and tasty crostini. The cheese was a Grafton Cheddar, and it was tasty. The rest was below average. The cherry compote was meh, and the fruits did not look fresh, including grapes, blueberries, and blackberries - one of which would not have adorned the plate at my house. Oh, and shrinkflation hit the "platter." It used to be served on an oval platter. Now it comes on an 8-inch (est.) plate. I won't get into detail on the Onion Soup or Greek Salad my son and I ordered. They were good, as was my Filet Mignon. Nothing spectacular, but good. The mashed potatoes weren't cold, but they were closer to cold than hot. As for my son's Boeuf Bourguignon, he ate half of it. I tasted it and found it bland and the beef was dry. For my next visit to Burlington, I'll research other dinner options.

We got 4 very different dishes, and all were flat out amazing! The waiter was fun, knowledgeable, and efficient. We would absolutely go back if we were in town again

We eat here every time we visit Burlington. The salmon plate is delicious, never overcooked, with a side salad and basket of bread. The indoor tables are set in a cozy ambience but the best experience is outside on their terrace located on the pedestrian mall. Nowadays, it’s hard to find a restaurant with fresh food, friendly service and a good location. We just keep coming back.

I gave this a 4 for the food and atmosphere. would have gone a 5 if the service had been better. The hostess was super, but our server was either too busy or inexperienced. Our drinks ran out part way through the meal and even though I sat the empty cup on the edge of the table where she approached it was never addressed. Luckily I had water filled by someone else that was available. The food came as ordered and was really good and the cheese plate was one of the better ones we have gotten. I would try it again because the food was that good!

Leunig’s Bistro & Café After a 23 mile bike ride, I was starving, but didn’t want to just grab anything. I was ready to sit and enjoy a meal comfortably. The outside dining area was the perfect spot! I ordered a chocolate martini to start with and that came out fabulously – maybe one of my top-five of all time martini’s! I ordered the Shrimp salad and it was absolutely amazing! I’ve dined a lot of places and have never come across a dish so light, delicious, and creative in presentation. I loved it’s Church St. Marketplace location and I had a front row seat to all the passersby during my entire late lunch. I would definitely recommend this place as the service was fast, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect. Bathrooms were also very clean!

Had a different restaurant in mind but this looked like a nice place to try. The host had a bad attitude as he directed us to our seats. After ordering, waited about 15 minutes and finally flagged him down to ask for some bread, he plops down several stale pieces. Asked a busboy to switch out, the new batch was not much better. After waiting nearly thirty minutes, the steak comes out, could have used a better serrated knife to cut it. Left most of it on the plate, the server didn’t come by to ask how things were and took the plate back without saying anything. We just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Too many other places to try in this city.

The onion soup was one the best I have ever eaten! That broth was devine!

What a disappointment! Did not begin to live up to the good reviews! Ordered the beef bourgignon and it was simply awful. It wasn’t even warm so it had to be sent back. Once heated again they added yet another scoop of mashed potatoes…not sure why they didn’t have another choice. The beef was cooked in what resembled tomato paste…no pearl onions and no wine taste at all. My husband ‘s steak frites was a very small steak that was difficult to cut and a huge mound of French fries . Very high prices for very little value.

This was such a a charming bistro with great food and very excellent service. I have some food intolerances and my waitress was really helpful and had great suggestions. We had a lovely evening.

One of the best restaurants in downtown Burlington, right on Church St! The menu is incredibly diverse and outstanding, the outdoor patio is excellent for people watching on Church St. and enjoying the weather, the interior is cozy and intimate, the staff is professional and friendly, and the prices are fair. A long time favorite and very popular-reservations book out far in advance, and "a must" in Burlington!

Try to eat here today, but were turned away by server saying no dogs were allowed on their patio. We ate elsewhere and when we passed this establishment later that day other dogs had been allowed on the patio (clearly pets, not service animals). To clarify, we understand certain restaurants do not allow dogs and we respect that, but it felt very bias to see large dogs being allowed there when our small (under 20lbs) well behaved dog couldn’t. This is very unfortunate since we looked forward to trying their food.

Visiting Vermont ... beautiful day, drove an hour to visit Leunig's specifically. Had a fabulous meal here a year or so back. Walked in at 2pm and was informed they had "stopped serving now for a tasting until 4pm & to change over to their dinner menu". Really??? We could have sat outside ... Online App info hours mention nothing about this and we cannot wait until 4pm. So disappointed!

When it's open you can count on a good array of dishes from which to choose, a lovely glass of wine, and lots of flavor in your meal.

4.4. Great spot in Burlington. It’s kind of a French bistro meets American pub and gave me a New Orleans French Quarter vibe. Friendly service and knowledgeable staff. Great happy hour/special menu from 4-5pm daily. The steak frites was great- sauce was one the sweeter side. They are super accommodating of allergies, I went in with a dairy and soy allergy and they were knowledgeable about which dressings and sauces were safe and knew without being told that vegetable oil is unsafe. Really kind staff and accommodating of children. Big menu with something for everyone.

Went for lunch past Saturday, seemed ok, so went back for dinner at 9 pm Saturday night, unfortunately we were told they are not taking anymore guest for the night! I was like 'what???'. Very disappointing. You dont refuse repeat customers like that. Stay away from this place. You can get much better food and service at other places there.

Large menu with many options. I had venison, lamb, duck sliders. All very unique flavors. Good desert too. I'll go back to try more. Not bad price on food.

We started with L'Orangerie Bordeaux Blanc. A perfect pairing with Raw Oysters. Our friendly server, Daniel, put it together for us. The Filet Mignon entree was perfection. We finished with the Key Lime Coconut Tart. Sorry, no picture. Couldn't wait. 😊 Delicious! Looking forward to our next visit!

They are pretty good at doing poutine if you are looking for some outside of Montreal. I also really like their truffle fries🍟 As for the food, I think it's pretty good but people have had mixed experiences. I think there's a lot more better places to try if you are in the Burlington area.

Best chicken dinner ever! The atmosphere was very pleasant and cozy, the staff were very nice. It was extremely busy (Friday night). Definitely get a reservation! We were seated at the bar, but the service was excellent. Beautiful location!

La décoration du restaurant est très jolie et confortable. Ils nous font croire que c’était un restaurant français avec des plats français alors qu’il n’en est rien. L’accueil a été très désagréable, nous avons été très mal reçu par les filles à l’accueil et je pense le manager du restaurant il faut vraiment qu’il se remette en cause et qu’ils prennent des cours de savoir-vivre et de courtoisie… ou bien qui change de métier. La jeune fille au bar bien que débordée, a fait tout son possible pour bien nous accueillir et nous servir. L’endroit est correct, mais l’accueil est déplorable.

Never eat There but I have a friend that eats thier offen likes it food is good prices are reasonable. Middle of the road rating because I personal never been but my friend recommends it. Looks nice and very clean nice out door dinning when in season.

Great beef bourgonion and duck poutine. Duck poutine was so good we ordered it twice.

We were disappointed that the basics were not there - a croque monsieur is a hot sandwich, but mine was served lukewarm and the cheese not even melted. The ingredients were very high-quality and the service friendly. But it seems like the kitchen is not able to do the basics.

We have been going for years and always have a great experience. We are from out of town and it has been a few years but was nice to make reservations online. Got to eat in second floor for the first time. Was very busy but enjoyed our time and some great food.

I was particularly impressed with the low noise level last night. It wasn't too crowded and our table of 5 could converse easily. Our table was by the wall near the bathrooms. Seemed particularly good. I've been seated in the back with a larger table and found it impossible to hear anything! So thanks! Worked well.

French fries were outstanding. The steak was tough. Service was stellar.

Crystal, our server was patient and very friendly. The corner table was chilly but it was an extraordinarily cold day.

I’ve been to Leunigs Since Denny Morrison opened it decades ago. Different owners, different chefs, have seen incredible ups and downs in the quality of service and food. We celebrate birthday birthdays, and holidays there. Recently, I had lunch, a burger, which I asked to be cooked medium rare. It came gray, hard and barely edible. I had to get in and get out so I didn’t ask To have them fire another one but very disappointing. Had dinner there last night kept it simple and light with a salad with grilled chicken. The chicken was like cardboard. Our waitress noticed that I didn’t need and said she would take the chicken off the bill, but charged me for the salad. Very little of which I ate. Seriously. Not a clue what’s going on with the person cooking their protein and I desperately want To be able to go there and to be able to order something other than the steak frites, onion soup or the beef Bourgogne and trust that it won’t be overcooked, but they have not been instilling much confidence lately. ( $18-20 pours for a 7oz glass of wine is essentially Manhattan. ) Wouldn’t mind so much if everything else was consistently good. It’s not.

Leunig's never disappoints. The food is very good and the atmosphere is wonderful. It is a must try for those visiting Burlington.

Absolutely one of the best meals I've had in a very long time! The French onion soup, autumn wedge salad, filet mignon were all perfect! And the maple creme brulee was the best we've ever had!!! The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. And, they had a fantastic selection of single malt scotch!

We loved the linchpin aperitif! One of the staff saw we were trying to manage a selfie and came right over to help us out. Great service, ambiance, and food/drink.

Best Thai food in upper valley. No, really.

We have been going to Leunings for years. To us, it is a place to go for the ambiance. The food is okay, but not great. This time the escargot was so dried out we were all surprised they actually brought it to the table. We had 3 different dishes and none of them impressed us. Hubby had the steak frites. Steak was cooked medium rare and good. Nobody cared for the frites. Our friend had the scallops. They looked good, but lacked flavor and the dish was lukewarm. I had the Vegetarian squash dish. Great presentation, lots of veggies, but also only lukewarm. The creme Brûlée was tasty, but the strawberry garnish looked very pathetic. Service was efficient, but does feel rushed. The "French vibe" thing goes right out the window if you get the bill while still enjoying the dessert. Not rushing back.

Everything was delicious. Great service. Early Bird special is a wonderful value. Wish we’d had room for the yummy sounding desserts.

Hi. I returned my chicken dish to the kitchen. It was not hot it was warm. The side dishes were cold. I was given a new meal. It was much better. But it didn’t feel like it had been cooked it felt like it was taken out of a pan and maybe microwaved. My family had the beef Bourguignon. It had no delicious aroma wafting from it. It was oddly presented in a casserole dish all pushed to one side. Not sure what that was about. I won’t come back. I think the restaurant has seen it stay in the sun.

We had a wonderful lunch in the upstairs lounge area. Our server was attention but not overbearing. Delicious beverages and food. It was a delightful pre-Christmas day date for my husband and I.

Leunig’s is a beautiful place to eat. All of the employees are kind, accommodating and attentive. The food is always excellent. We try to dine here as often as we can when we visit Church Street.

We could not hear ourselves talk, being a couple amongst big rowdy groups, despite a late reservation (8pm). we were moved to another table which was just as noisy. The salad niçoise was very disappointing. Tuna was mostly raw and served as a big chunk, very unappetizing. Presentation was a mess. Roasted parsnips were actually deeply fried bits, and the beans were blanched, according to our server, but still not cooked. The only saving grace was the crème brûlée..it was perfect! We realize that restaurants are serving pasta and green beans under cooked all over the US and that it is a trend amongst chefs, perhaps customers have grown accustomed and have come to expect that.

We love Leunigs - always have, always will. The Bistro Menu is a real deal, too!

Love visiting Leunigs for our annual pre-Christmas dinner. The service was a bit off, and the side room we sat in was too cold for my liking, but the food was delicious!

Almost like being in Paris. Attentive and rapid service. Maybe a little too rapid ? Salmon plate was especially good, the steak frites exactly what it should be. Only negative was the slightly watery espresso.

Made a reservation for 4:45 for early bird special. We arrived @ 4:52. The waitress asked for our drink order.....and after she returned, we tried to order off the special menu. She noted the time was 5:02.....too late for the special. We had had to order our food before 5:00. Food was mediocre.....beef bourguignon was tough, somewhat tasty but was clearly mass produced for the 4:00 crowd. Other three meals were OK to satisfactory.

An excellent meal. The Bistro meal was great quality & value.Perfect salmon,a fresh petite salad, a colorful delicious compliment of sides including amazing potatoes and a bed of spinach. Our server Crystal was friendly, attentive and efficient. A Great dining experience, lovely ambience.

There’s a reason this place is packed almost every night Lovely wait staff and great food. Duck Poutine was phenomenal. Highly recommended The menu is wonderfully eclectic with a French/European slant. Loved it.

We love Leunigs. It's a bit noisy for someone with hearing aids, but the food, staff and environment are great. I stick with the wonderful steak frites. My husband explores the menu, checking out what our dining neighbors have ordered. Never have had a disappointing meal there.

We have been to Leunig’s numerous times, and it never disappoints. The service is incredible and the meals are always consistent in great quality. For this visit, we had soups, salads and escargot as appetizers and the burger and beef Bourguignon as dinners. They were all spectacular. Can’t wait to return. Ivy is a great server.
