The food was so amazing. I will be back again and again.

We came to Lil Tokyo as our first Sushi experience in New Jersey. It was in such a nice venue, the environment was clean and had such a pleasing atmosphere to it. We were the only patrons in as a huge thunderstorm just came out of nowhere but they were still happy to serve us and allow us to bunker down if the storm got worse. We ordered 3 rolls (Top to Bottom) 🍣 Samurai Roll - Absolutely delicious and my favorite, the mango was fresh and the roll by far i will be getting in the future 💋 Kiss Roll - Shrimp tempura and crab meat eith spicy salmon, and it had such a pleasant spice to it and the ingredients were fresh. Little 🗼 Tokyo - I'm not usually a fan of soy paper wrapped rolls but this one was quite pleasant and the asparagus was cooked right to allow a satisfying crunch and taste. Overall everything was fresh and priced very well for the quality we received. Definitely recommend this spot for a quick sushi bite or even to-go.

Dining room is decorated nicely. My husband and I tried the Samurai and Chocho sushi rolls. They were very good: 4.5 out of 5 stars. I had the chicken yakisoba (stir-fry noodles). They were kind of plain (even hot sauce didn'tmake it better) and wouldn't order again- score 2 out of 5. My husband had the Nabeyaki Udon- he gave it a 3.5 out of 5. He tried my meal and didn't like it either. The food and 2 cans of soda cost $73.57, before adding a tip.

I've been here twice, first time I got a "lunch box special" which was smaller portions of bulgogi, fried vegetables and meat. Today I went and got the shumai which were very tasty and different than I've seen before as they were seemingly steamed not fried or served cold. Additionally I had a shrimp tempura roll which was very good, shrimp tempura was crispy and no hard avocadoes. Couldn't quite finish the bulgogi I ordered after that so the waitress graciously put my leftover food in my box (a cylindrical plastic container) for me. Earnestly recommended for anyone wishing to experience good Korean/Japanese food and excellent service.

One of our go to sushi places. Very consistent and very good food! sometimes we get the sushi for two and even when they pack it to go, it is a feast for the eyes. Most places don’t know how to pack and present food when it is to go, but this establishment does it right. Dining in is also terrific. We have never been disappointed here and I’ve been coming for years. Highly recommended.

The sashimi was fresh, but too cold to have flavor. The portion (regular sushi) was very good. The eel roll was very tastey, however the sushi rice was not sturdy enough to keep the rolls together when picked up with the chop sticks. Service was very good.

Nothing happening on a weeknight, no music playing overhead. The one lady hosting/serving wasn't particularly enthusiastic, but otherwise fine service. Food is good. Love the indoor plants though.

Do NOT get sushi from here! Just dropped over $50 for takeout and the edamame was mush, tasted like it was sitting there all day. So did all the sushi rolls. We didn’t even eat half of it, it tasted off and not fresh. That was horrible and a disgrace to the cuisine.

This was such a hard review to write, that I considered not writing it at all. The people are truly lovely, salt of the earth, kind and hard working. The quintessential mom and pop restaurant. The service is limited by it literally being a mom and pop restaurant, with roughly 3 employees total. The Korean dishes were very good, albeit the portions are fairly small compared to many other Korean dining establishments locally and towards the city. The sushi was simply not a win. It was consistently fishy tasting, interspersed with nigiri pieces that tasted like pond water. I was concerned I would be sick from food borne illness, but I was not (so that is awesome news). In short, go for the Korean, with reasonable expectations. I could drink their gochujang sauce out of the bottle it was so craveably good. Enjoy how nice the owners and staff are. Just avoid the sushi, maybe?? It would have been a 3 star review but the people are just soo nice!!!

We moved to the area about 3.5 years ago and we’ve come here so many times. The food is delicious, the service is excellent, and they have plenty of tables so we’ve never had to wait. As far as I know there’s only one waitress but I’ve never had to wait long for my food or to get the check. The Korean dishes are so good, definitely give them a try!

Little Tokyo at 207 Mountain Ave, Hackettstown, NJ 07840, is an absolute gem! I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it was a fantastic experience. The food was not only delicious but surprisingly affordable. I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were for such high-quality dishes. Our waitress, Emma, made the visit even more enjoyable with her attentive and friendly service. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. I highly recommend Little Tokyo to anyone in the area looking for a delightful and budget-friendly dining experience. 5 stars all the way!

Just ordered $45 worth of sushi and a small meal. My sushi order smelled rotten and I threw it out. Although our first negative experience here. We won’t be back.

The establishment looked amazing, the food however was very underwhelming. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, California roll, and several pieces of nigiri. The tuna roll was not spicy, the California roll had the smallest slices of avocado I've ever seen and you could only taste cucumber, and the nigiri had no real flavor. Several pieces fell apart as soon as they were picked up. Maybe it was an off day, but the food was quite underwhelming for the price.

Our family has been coming here for years and the food is always fresh, delicious, and visually appealing. Most recently, I called in an order for 2 Sushi Platters for my son’s graduation party. They were absolutely perfect! Beautiful and delicious! Jenn provided us with plenty of chop sticks, soy sauce, and individual soy sauce dipping trays! Both her and her husband are very nice to interact with and going there is always a pleasant experience. Try the Crunch Ball, it’s one of my favorites.

Seriously great sushi, stopped here while visiting for work and the server was polite and quick. Food came out quick, and the place itself looks great. Highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite places to go with my husband for sushi in the area - I would definitely recommend coming here if you're just looking for sushi (they have other great options available but have some of the best sushi around). The owners are very nice and attentive. It's never too busy when we go and we're always seated pretty quickly. They have really good katsu and other appetizers as well.

The food was very good. We liked the Korean salad and the sushi was very good. They have a gnat problem. Killed about 10 while there for dinner. This is a big turn off for me but if you do not mind it, the food is a 4.5. Service is not great - empty dining room and had to wait for water.

Overall the variety and quality of the rolls is quite good, say 8 out of 10 for NJ. Some people seem to complain about the wait times and that's definitely valid. It seems to be a lean operation with a bit of a staff shortage. As long as you're not stopping in for a quick bite before a show or something, bring a bottle of wine and hang out a bit. I think we were there for a total of an hour and ten minutes.

Amazing restaurant that focuses on quality, taste, and top notch customer care! Prices are also very reasonable and portion sizes are more than enough. I have some dietary restrictions and so called the restaurant beforehand to see if they could accommodate. I ended up speaking with the owner who really took the time to understand my needs and made sure the food was prepared exactly as needed. I ordered the seafood pancake, bibimbap, and spicy squid stir fry and all were some of the best that I’ve ever had. Lots of fresh seafood and vegetables in all the dishes! And the flavor was truly authentic. The inside of the restaurant is also very nicely decorated - will be back to eat indoors very soon!

Decent portions, good quality, and very tasty. Just don't go on an empty stomach (intermittent faster); you will crave the quality nutrition. My stomach left happy, and wallet not much.

Waited 10min to be seated and there was no one even there. Everything is way over priced, and the food was very bland. Would rate zero stars and not think twice. Only thing good was that they had the NFL game on the tv. Went directly to McDonald’s across the street after.

Food was amazing! I was craving Korean food and this place popped up. My friend recommended the sushi there so I figured I'd give it a shot. The bibimbab and bulgogi were excellent! The tempura is crunchy and perfect. The ramen is legit, probably the best you'll find outside of Edgewater! The inside looks really cool and although seating is efficient, it doesn't seem over crowded. I also love their veggie garden outback.

This is my personal favorite local sushi place. It's always fresh and always delicious. My favorite is the Eagle Roll.

I'm a vegan and my boyfriend is a sushi lover and we are both happy with the options, food quality, flavor and service here. Easily one of my favorite Japanese fusion (or Asian for the matter) restaurants in North Jersey!

Went here for Valentine's day they seated everyone as they came in to maximize the privacy and I cannot recommend the snow roll enough. Apple and white tuna are a crunchy sweet and buttery brilliance.

I love Little Tokyo. Their sushi is great and prices are affordable. They have a great selection of rolls, and even though I'm allergic to shrimp and crab, I can always find something to eat.

Amazing atmosphere, authentic Japanese food; not just sushi but also so a, katsu, and other types. They even have a salmon sushi platter for those of us who love sushi.

Little Tokyo is my number one favorite place to eat. I've traveled across most of the eastern seaboard and have made a point of trying sushi everywhere I've visited - I have yet to find anywhere that beats Little Tokyo. You get more than what you pay for between amazing quality food plus quick friendly service.

Best place for sushi and ramen. If you are lucky they will be doing karaoke in the plaza and you will be delighted to some of the worst singers I have ever heard. It's all a part of the experience. Perfect date night location.

Delicious Korean and Japanese food! The flavor of the Bi Bim Bap is on point, you can even get it in a stone pot. The spicy pork and sushi are great too. Looking forward to going back!

This is a small "mom and pop" place that consistently serves delicious sushi/Japanese/Korean dishes. My family has been coming here since it first opened about 6 years ago. Every dish and every meal has been very good and Little Tokyo does not disappoint. We bring friends here for small gatherings and friends who have never eaten here because we can count on the fact that we will have a delicious meal. We usually start with the miso soup that consistently has the perfect miso flavor (not too watery nor too salty) with just the right amount of small pieces of tofu and scallions. We also recommend the shrimp and vegetables tempura appetizer that's really enough for a meal with rice. Great crunchy breading on the shrimp and vegetables with a flavorful dipping sauce. All the rolls we've tried have been great, even the basic California roll and sweet potato roll. And some of our specialty roll favorites are the Mango Tango, Piano, and Dragon rolls. Each has its unique flavor that bursts in your mouth as you take a bite. And the specialty rolls are all beautifully presented. As for the dishes, the teriyaki chicken and steak are solid, although some may find the sauce a bit sweeter than other teriyaki dishes at other Japanese restaurants. We also like the Korean dishes bibimbop and bulgogi, both also full of flavor that's authentic Korean. My son likes the Udon (noodle soups) that's great during the cold weather. We order take out quite a bit also, and the food is just as good and are very well packed (the rolls are also nicely presented in their "to go" containers). The only minor thing to note is that the tempura may lose some of its crispness if left in the container too long. Also, the price is very reasonable for sushi/Japanese/Korean cuisine. The place is nicely decorated and very clean. There's even a rock garden at the rear entrance. The owners are the husband/wife sushi chef and the waitress, and they are very friendly and provides great service. On rare occasions, service may be a little slow when there's a lot of people as there may only be a couple of servers. But bottomline, if you're looking for very reasonably priced, fresh, delicious sushi/Japanese/Korean meal in a nice, clean setting with friendly owners, then you have to try Little Tokyo. You'll have a great meal at a great price, while supporting a local small business owner. It's a WIN/WIN! I know that's cliche, but you won't be disappointed.

Amazing food, delicious sushi that is plated beautifully and at a fair price; BYOB, cozy atmosphere, and fantastic service. The hours are incorrect on Google though. The restaurant is open until 10pm on Saturdays, not 10:30.

I eaten in and done take out. Both have been great. Know what your ordering. My kid loves them too
