This cafe is in an old school. Lounging area inside to the left of the cafe and outside also to the left and the right side of the building! Their chai drink is delicious and they have a different variety of pastries from other cafes I've been to. Definitely will go back!

Updated((N/A>>))Needless to say, I had another very bad experience here((<<N/A)) UPDATE: Years passed and I didn't realize the establishment responded. To update, I still go here and can give a better review. Previously, I had taken issue with buckets of water with mosquito larvae and mosquitos swarming horribly on the side patio. I had told a Meava's employee in passing and he had said it wasn't his job in a really off tone. When I went inside was mocked, accusing I had googled what I was saying about mosquitos and why not to do nothing (pro entomologist here, but most people know anyways). It was a treatment equating degrading behavior and it really was foul. Yet, so much has kept people from getting along in recent years, and he was not alone in acting "up." He has since apologized, proved to be a better guy and I have also apologized to him for assuming that was his job when it wasn't. All is well. My "needless to say" comment was because I had also had an issue or two over time with the previous owners/developers and knew some others had as well, but that is completely unrelated to Meava's and their staff, coffee, or food nor is it even relevant anymore because of new ownership and building management. I apologize for being vague and appreciate the opportunity to clarify. I've updated my star ratings to reflect reality and hope the best for this place.

The best of the best! I was recently on maternity leave and every week I would try a new local place for an iced vanilla latte to find the best one. I went to MULTIPLE places and this was #1. It is the most expensive but it's sooo worth it. I am glad they don't have a drive threw so I can't go as often (I have two kids under two). On my first visit I even left my wallet and they reached out to me on facebook before I even realized it was gone. I always see the same lady and she is so so sweet. This was my fav spot on maternity leave. This was also my only request for mothers day. Support local!

The place is cute and makes great use of the school building. This is one of the few coffee places available in the area. Their baked items are good, and their coffee has flavor. The blended chai that I had was delicious, but my boyfriend's white mocha was lacking in flavor and barely warm. It's disappointing that on a chilly day where you just want a steaming cup of coffee that the place you go to serves you a luke-warm beverage. I expected better since they have been open for a few years now.

This is so cute and service was excellent and very friendly people. It is located in an old schoolhouse which is super cool.

Great coffee and great food! The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff was very friendly. We had the blueberry muffin, monkey bread, and quiche and everything was delicious!

I love Maevas! I’ve been coming for multiple years and the atmosphere is to die for. It’s an expensive trip every time but so worth it.

I absolutely love coming here. Especially in the fall when they're serving a hot caramel apple cider. So delicious! Their selections of drinks and food are eclectic and fantastic.

Maeva's has a great atmosphere, great baristas, and of course great coffee. I love the aesthetic through the whole building, and there's plenty of room to relax and socialize. The drinks in the picture are the Midnight Mocha, one hot and one iced.

I’m a caffeine addict from out of town, and I highly recommend, started off with a triple shot espresso. The evening barista smiled coyly, knowing the bliss I was about to experience. The next morning, I upped my game with a cold brew, and double shot of espresso. Again, the welcoming staff offered a friendly warning to their new favorite customer ; “are you sure? I don’t want you to die…”. Upon finishing, I realized they were right, as I was indeed floating in heaven, motivated for the rest of my travels. Strong coffee in the best way to go -

Banana bread and latte were delicious! Good energy and decor on the inside and the deck was lovely. I brought someone on a walker with me and staff was very helpful.

Very high quality coffee, and the atmosphere is just wonderful. Not enough wizard themed art, but still wonderful. Typically, I end up paying a similar amount to what I would pay at starbucks, but this stuff is far better by comparison.

Cutes coffee shop in the old Milton school. Delish food, amazing coffee, and very friendly staff. We loved our time here and even got to read a 1973 National Geographic while we waited!

I've been going here since I was a young teenager, I absolutely love it here and everyone is always so nice and helpful. They have great seasonal drinks, as well as the typical coffee shop items. Their sweets and quiches are also super great! Not to mention, they feature items from small businesses that you can buy! It changes from time to time, but they have some bug taxidermy earrings, necklaces, and displays right now! And it seems they recently added a wheelchair ramp to visit some outdoor seating, though I'm not sure about entering the building.

Had an amazing Danish while I waited for my drinks. Service was amazing definitely a repeat stop.

Among my favorite places. I love the coffee cake here! Their seasonal drinks are unique and amazing. This season they’ve had an apple-praline latte, a matcha special, and a white mocha with guava flavor, and each is incredible (first was my favorite). The people who work here are nice and can *make* good drinks, and the atmosphere is easygoing - it’s okay to sit outside of the main room for dine-in, for example - granted, that vibe goes for the whole old Milton schoolhouse. ☕️📚💛

This is a really neat little spot. They make very good coffee and it also just has a lot of charisma as a location. If I were shooting a movie with a coffee shop scene I would want to put it here. Also, the people are nice and they do good work.

Very unique location inside an old school building. I had a mocha latte and monkey bread. Very good. I like that the coffee was served in a real mug instead of a disposable cup. Large parking lot.

I enjoy the atmosphere here. There’s sometimes lady meets here for clubs, students working, or friends just bumping into each other to grab some of their favorite coffee. Fun fact, you could rent the Airbnb and spend the day in privacy, enjoying the coffee with a personal view!

I cannot say enough good things about this locally owned business. The baristas really know a lot about what they are making and take pride and how it is prepared. From the soups to the chia pudding to the blueberry muffins and quiche, everything is good. The big bonus is that just down the hall is a free library of books and comfy seating where you could play games.

Cute shop with delicious espresso drinks and baked goods. Our family enjoyed the muffins, monkey bread, and veggie quiche. Very nice presentation of warm drinks and generous serving for the large French press coffee. You might have a wait a bit for your quiche and drinks but everything is worth it!

It's been a while since I've been there, good coffee and food, a kinda interesting atmosphere , even a little creepy not the place it's self , just I the fact it's in a haunted school .I used to live near there and sometimes hear screams and shouting from the old Milton Brown school late at night.Its been a little quieter since the apartments where added and Maeva's moved in.

Such a neat coffee shop! They don't have soy milk but everything else is 10/10.

It’s always an amazing thing to find a coffee shop that cares about their coffee. From the roasting to the dialing in. The drinks were fantastic. The chai was BREATHTAKING. The blueberry coffee cake was extremely moist, and the monkey bread had the perfect spiced seasoning. I would drive out of my way again to stop by. :)

Had a craving while out in Alton. Google coffee near me, and Maeva's popped up. Super chill and eclectic place. Awesome selection of baked offerings. Hubby got a latte. I got the Mud Mocha Iced. Wanted to try something new, and this thing had charcoal in it. Love, love, love this cold coffee. Absolutely delicious. Staff was super friendly, chatting with us as they made our drinks. We always like hitting the small local coffee shops over chains. If in Alton, be sure to stop here. Entrance is on the side of the old school house. Enter the doors unde the neon, up the stairs, first door to the right.

Out here for work with no Starbucks any where near. Found this coffee shop. Excellent espresso drinks. Food and pastries look good - havn't tried

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this coffee shop. My husband and I were visiting from Orlando and we both needed our daily pick-me-up. This was the perfect place! I immediately fell in love with this hidden shop... the fact that they are in an old school, the decor is spot-on, the service is phenomenal, and they had my iced chai tea and my husband says "Maeva's Blend is perfecto!" We will be back during our next visit in town. Thank you!

Coolest coffee shop inside an old school building, and their banana bread is phenomenal! Also had the yogurt parfait with chia seeds and it was yum. There is a barbershop and antique shop in the building with plenty of seating in the common area and a new deck. They sell a variety of coffee beans and a little merch too.

Very cute coffee shop. We stopped here on a Saturday morning after breakfast. The chai latte was amazing i added lavender. The gooey butter cake was okay but not as good as a homemade one in my opinion. The vibes of this coffee shop are top notch. I will be back to try the boozy coffee

Maeva's is such a cool place to hang out, read, or get work done. I've been coming here for years. The baristas are really friendly. The coffee is great. The quiche and desserts are delicious. One of my favorite local spots.

So I went there with my mom to try it out. We both got a quiche and a coffee. We liked the place it was cute. Needless to say I will not be going back mom got sick when we got home and I don’t appreciate being forced to give a tip. My order was $18 with a forced $10 tip and then they have a tip jar on the counter that I put money in. Not right at all.

Maeva's is probably the best coffee shop in Alton. The roasts are spot on and robust flavor. The coffee beans for purchase always have the roast date on them. The environment is great and a bit eclectic which is perfect to me. A good coffee shop should have it's own identity and feel which they definitely do. The staff is friendly and great to talk with. Always attentative and personable. I always stop here if they are open when I'm up in alton or on a roadtrip near alton. I also make special trips up just to pick up a batch of their roasted beans and a latte.

Barista bonded with us and we had pleasantly conversation about the area, coffee, and the flavor options. Placed in a cute little building. Will go again

Hidden Gem! I was skeptical pulling up and a little confused since Maeva's is in a large old school building, but once I figured that out, I was so impressed! Drinks were amazing, baked goods couldn't have been better, as well as the chia seed parfait. Do your self a favor and check out this place and the other shops in this one of a kind Alton place!

Incredible coffee and simple menu hit the spot. Great to see reinvestment in this historic school house! Bought some beans to take home with us - enjoyed the experience all over again with several cups at home 😁👍👍👍👍👍

I've been here a couple of times. It's a really relaxed and inviting atmosphere. It's what Starbucks wishes it could be. Free refills on coffee, and the coffee is always really, really good. It has been a great place to meet friends as well as just get some paperwork/writing done too. I will try to come more when I'm in town.

Maeva's has been a local favorite of mine for years. They have a great selection of coffee and pastries, including rotating seasonal drinks that are wonderful. Highly recommend getting a quiche or a piece of blueberry coffee cake to compliment your coffee.

They had one of the best chai lattes I've ever had- and we travel the country getting chais from coffee shops frequently! Also their gluten free/vegan muffin was TO DIE FOR. So sweet fluffy and moist! Glad we stopped through here and I'll definitely be back once more before we leave town in two days!

Ridiculously good coffee. So many coffee roasters these days are so obsessed with fruity notes. Not this place! Roasty, but complex flavor. Definitely one of the better cups I've had. Also, great atmosphere and the staff is always nice.

Not as good as people told me. I got an iced latte with added vanilla, it was okay, but I thought it was gonna be great, and when I got it and tried it i was disappointed.it was still good-ish tho. The place was also a little hard to find and if I weren't with my sister who has been there before I wouldn't have been able to figure out where to go.

This coffee shop is in a kind of amazing space, if you're worried about social distancing but don't want to have to take your coffee to go or sit outside, there's plenty of seating in the Halls outside the cafe but inside the building. They have a coffee drink called the snowbird which I can't explain was the most amazing coffee drink I've ever had. Amazing.

Love this spot. We get quiches, pastries and coffee from here regularly. The staff is friendly and on it and wears masks. Good amount of seating in the schoolhouse portion if the main cafe is busy. Most everyone wears masks when not eating.

I was in town for the weekend and there’s not much around. Found this place online and was pleasantly surprised. Went back the next day too. By far better than any of the major coffee chains around. I wish I lived closer.

Coffee mecca in a caffeine desert! Wonderful coffee that this former Seattle resident can find no fault with. The chocolate chip banana bread was moist & flavorful. First came here in 2017 and very pleased to see it still here in 2021!

This was a great morning coffee stop on our motorcycle trip. Great coffee and pastries ! Though a bit of a urine smell in main hallway which I’m sure they are taking care of, so I’m not going to ding them on that.

Sometimes the coffee is unbelievably good, others times just a good cup of joe. They have lots of unique coffee pairings and standards you would expect. The good is always excellent!

Very nice local coffee shop! The atmosphere is super cozy and the staff are always diligent and eager. There only ever seems to be one person working the front at a time though, which looks stressful. I hope the owner isn't leaving the employees without adequate team support.
