I just came for my first time, for lunch !! I knew what I was looking forward to, fish n chips !!! Received a burnt plate of fish n chips !! When I said something the waiter lied to me.He told me it wasnt Burnt .1star is my rating for the tea

The most recent time I came here was better than the last few times. We used to LOVE this place. Then it seemed to go downhill the last few years. Even a few months ago, the service was slow, the food was subpar. But the most recent time I went, the food was good and the server was attentive. The Host was also polite and welcoming. They have a good list of menu items and their garlic aoli mayo is to die for!

Maggie's...Oh Maggie Miley's, like an old face from grammar school who sat behind you in a subject you never paid attention to. The girl who grew up next door who's dad you loved to chastise by keeping her out past curfew. 'Mc You can always put the needle back on the same groove every time. A steady beat of undergrads and loyal townies who feed the coal into the boiler that, if you turn in your barstool and look around and listen, beats the drum of random drunken shenanigans. While the grout between the bricks stays fresh, Josh is one of the best bartenders in the city, I might have been one of the first patrons when they opened in the early 2000's, and nothing has changed. I will attest, as a seasoned dead pro of restaurant/bar/hospitality patron, the food here has never been great. The fish n' chips and curry fries work, but don't expect anything to reach down and touch your junk. Be courageous, walk about the cabin, and order at least a shot of whiskey while exploring their grain offerings. The tap is a little tired but not appalling: Guinness, Harp, the usual McBar suspects. Tip em well, and depart responsibly.

Decent pint of Guinness which is a good start. Good service and the food was pretty good. But. Shepherds pie is made with Lamb, hence the shepherd connection. Cottage pie is made with Beef, which is what you offer, and is pretty good to be fair.

Being Irish, I was very disappointed in the traditional Irish breakfast. The puddings were so dry and the sausage had no flavor. We Irish don’t serve thin slices of tomato, it’s a half of a tomato and we do serve beans as well, it not just the English. As much as I hoped for a taste of home it was a far miss and won’t be returning.

Servers are super amazing and drinks are good. Food is delicious, their mashed potatoes are extra yummy!! Always happy when I go to this place!

Absolutely disgusting. Hands down the worst corned beef and cabbage I've ever had in my life!! Literally looked like it was plooped out of a Can. Was giant blocks all I could think was a something from a junior high cafeteria. The fact they felt like they could serve that is ridiculous. The fish and chips looked like a weird burned oily blob of garbage. The only thing that was good was the fries. For the price they charged. I literally felt like I was robbed of my money. Had I not had someone with me I would have flat out refused to pay. The corned beef appearance felt like I was in a gag show or maybe even fear factor. Indescribable how awful it looked and tasted.

The service was wonderful! The food was delicious and a great value. Awesome selection of beers!

Holy portions of amazing food!! What a nice surprise to find in this town we were passing through! I got the reuben poppers and stuffed chicken. SO GOOD

Although I've visited the bar as a townie, I had never eaten the food. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try! The potato pancakes and cheese sauce was SO GOOD (boxty). We wanted to put the cheese on everything! It went really well with the potato skins. I'm glad my server asked if I wanted bacon and cheese on the Sheppard's Pie because it added a nice flavor to the potatoes. I will absolutely come back and try more dishes but overall was satisfied with everything I tried.

We ate here after a long day of driving. The service was just fine - not too much and not too little. The food was also just fine. We had salads and the food came too quickly so we didn't have a chance to finish them. I had the fish and chips and I would say it was more like breading and chips. When the breading was peeled off there wasn't actually much fish. The chips were hand cut fries and they were delicious. My dinner partner had corned beef and cabbage and he actually thought the corned beef was ham - texture and flavor. The prices were very reasonable and the servings were huge. I would eat here again if I'm in the area but wouldn't order the same thing.

Driving cross country and my wife and I landed in Bloomington Illinois at the end of our day driving. We found the Maggie Miley's on-line menu to be fabulous and we were really looking forward to going here! We waited for 20 minutes in line before being greeted by the host. Then another 35 at the bar waiting for a table. After finally getting a table, there was another 15 minutes of waiting and still not being greeted. So, my wife wandered around and finally found a willing server to give us menus. We never got waters, nor did she ask for any drink orders. Another 15 minutes goes by and we finally get to put in an order. 35 minutes goes by and our meals finally come out. I ordered the Irish Stew and was terribly disappointed when it arrived to find there was no more than 1/4 cup of stew in a huge canteloupe sized bread bowl. Literally 2 small pieces of beef and 2 pieces of potato with 4 tablespoons of gravy for $14.00. I'm guessing at one time this place had great food and service, but no longer. Patrons were throwing darts, drunk and swearing loudly. Poor execution on the food, terrible customer service and a place that should be avoided entirely. Circle K had better food and service as I ended up going back to my hotel room with beef jerky and a twnkie. 🫤

I had the anti-hero on draft and loved it, it had a nice light crisp flavor that the atmosphere adds to in my opinion, but I'm also a sucker for themes.

Wonderful atmosphere , beautiful bar , good whiskeys and single malts. Potato skins appetizer fantastic, fish n chips very good , Bangers and mash beautiful-all served steaming hot. Some onion gravy and fried apples would also be welcome with the bangers. Great server (Austin) !

The wings are really good here. I even ordered a to go order of them so I could have them another day. Fun place to go with friends. They seemed to have a lot of drink selections also.

Wife and I love Maggie Miley’s. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner there years ago. Donny R. was a great host to us.

Good pub style fish and chips. Very cozy ambience. Service was attentive and drinks were pretty good. The Irish stew and Irish breakfast that I've tried before are pretty good and hearty as well.

We had not eaten at Maggie Miley’s in a while but were hugely disappointed. My husband ordered Corned beef and cabbage and he was served chunks of ham not corned beef. My fish was overcooked and the fries were barely warm. The women’s bathroom was disgusting.

I ordered the Irish breakfast and the Dunkin donkey. The service was great. The food, other than the dried eggs was exceptional.thebeggs were overcooked. The drink was fantastic.

We haven't been here since 2006 and the food was just as delicious as I remembered. Soooo amazing!

1st timer here, great service food was also great. The only recommendation is to move dart boards from the doorway otherwise great.

Wow! This bar and Thomas their Mixologist were absolutely amazing! I was in town on business and decided to kill some time while I wait for my train back to Chicago and popped in. They actually have a real wide selection of local beers and pretty cool people who walk in. Mostly locals and the food is impressive for a pub. I had the Salmon Sandwich and it was 🔥. Not to mention my bill after drinks and food was surprisingly affordable compared to Chicago. If you are in the area this is a definite go to for drinks and great conversation with the coolest people in town. Didn't realize Normal had so much to offer. I will definitely be back!

I was in town for a business trip and had dinner here. I had the garlic salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies. My meal was okay; a little bland, flavorless, and lukewarm for my liking, but edible. I just added extra salt and pepper on everything to add flavor. I didn't take a picture of the dish because I was with a work colleague talking and forgot, but the salmon was very thin and small, not at all what I expected. I had more mashed potatoes than anything. My friend ordered the Shepards pie. She said she had it before there a year ago and it was good last time, but she was disappointed this time. Would I ever return? Not for dinner. Only because I don't live local, so if I'm ever in town again, I'll try someplace different. If you're coming here to drink, then it looks like this would be a fun place when it's busy. The atmosphere and decor was fun like a typical Irish pub.

it's OK, I had the fish and chips and it was decent. I think the place needs an update, I found the smell annoying and the music too loud for a place that was almost empty. Maybe when college come back from summer break will be better.

I love Maggie Miley’s! This time I didn’t have drinks, but past experience - they have a solid Guinness pour. Food was good. The sweet potato crisps were tasty. I got the bangers and mash (of course) and my wife got the stuffed chicken breast. Good flavor! Fast service! Thanks JC (our server)!

I drove 3 hours to bring my Irish husband to the first Authentic Irish Pub we've had the privilege of finding in the 13 years he's been here. Amazing staff, perfect atmosphere. We will make the drive again and again. Thank you, he loved it!!!

Good food and service, but it tends to get overcrowded due to the bar during busy hours making the experience uncomfortable.

Great traditional Irish pub. Best fish and chips in town. But service seems to be going down.

Atmisphere-wise, the music was way too loud and bass was cranked up. You could barely hear anything but the bass. This made it very difficult to hold a conversation. Our order was taken promptly after we were seated but it took about 45 minutes to get our food. Table of 5 with no special orders or anything that might take a long time to prepare. The food had clearly been under a heat lamp for an extended amount of time. I had the Paddy melt on marbled rye and the top slice of bread was so dry the crust was inedible. I had to tear the crust off. The burger itself was also dried out and barely above room temperature as were the fries. It did not seem that busy, so I'm not sure how or why it took so long.

Corn beef and cabbage plus potatoes. Very tough to chew corn beef, cabbage didn't have much taste, potatoes were good. Overall I won't go back. Owners don't seem to care or the reviews would have a few answers

The food was a disappointment. Ordered pick up. Every burger, grilled chicken sandwich and so called "Irish Reuben" was dry. The corned beef on the Reuben was sliced, cold cut, lunch meat, no swiss cheese, very little sour kraut. Burgers were over cooked. Fries were cold and hard like they were sitting around for a long time. Potato skins were really good, but had to ask for the sour cream🙁

Went here as an end of semester celebratory dinner. Server was very attentive and energetic and I was served fast. Their selection of beer was unique, and I decided to get a peanut butter stout. I recieved Peanut Butter Milk Stout from left hand brewing out of Colorado, it was awesome The food was okay. The Irish chips (fries) were the usual rustic, skin on russet french fries. The sandwich I got was 2 breaded chicken tenders and 2 slices of swiss on a long hoagie roll. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but was a good meal for the price nonetheless. The bar/restauraunt itself isn't too bad as far as they come. The music wasn't blasting, the patrons weren't rowdy, but it also wasn't quiet. Good middle ground between sit down family restauraunt and bustling dive bar. Very clean and historic in appearance.

Absolutely perfect pub food was happy to try the curry chips and was pleasantly surprised but the real stars the stewed beef in a bread bowl, the shepherd's pie, and the boxty with cheese dip are probably the best done examples of Irish food in Illinois coupled with having very large portions for the price. Will definitely go again!

Food good. Def not family friendly. Owner was openly berating and swearing at kitchen staff in the seating area. Made a pleasent meal into something pretty uncomfortable and extremely unprofessional.

Staff was very friendly, atmosphere is great, food was okay, but we couldn't stay long as the stalls in the men's restroom don't close right, not to mention they aren't exactly clean but they're bar restrooms so that's pretty run of the mill. Had to get the check and leave purely because one of us had to use the restroom and being disabled, needs a usable stall and was unable to get the stall door closed.

The place is definitely worth visiting, as it offers you a lot: first of all, the story of Maggie Miley, the pub and its founders, a vast, descriptive menu of various Irish dishes, the exciting weekly specials -- everything is properly presented in the form and format of a newspaper. Fun reading, enjoy! I did. Quite enjoyable is also the layout of the pub: it has both indoor and outdoor seating, two full bars -- and the pub is lovely decorated with the pictorial motifs of those famous Irish beverages, which create that particularly relaxed, warm and customer friendly ambiance, so peculiar and so memorable. I was seated right away, the service was very polite and amiable, as expected. An enormous Irish Rueben Sandwich was very tasty, accompanied by a mountain of fries and the refreshing 10 oz. of Harp Lager. That was my only meal that day -- and I am glad I had it. I am sure, Maggie Miley's pub is very popular with the the local public, and even at that between-lunch-and-dinner hour, it was fairly busy, especially at one of the bar areas. Cool place. Thanks for such a hefty lunch and Irish welcome!

We just ate here and had fish and chips and bangers and mash. The chips (fries) had an incessant amount of seasoning, which rendered them inedible. The fish is just breaded cod, but the fryer must have been low because it was soggy and oil logged. The sausage was ok, but the potatoes and gravy were largely unseasoned. It wasn’t that busy and the staff seemed preoccupied, which is fine it is a Thursday. Just overall really underwhelming and would not choose to stop in again on our next trip to town.

This was our first time at the restaurant and it was great. Boxy appetizer is very filling and please note cheese dip is a little spicy. Wife got full size Shepard pie and had some to bring home.

This was excellent. The food was amazing and a huge amount. We ordered a lunch and an appetizer. Crazy amount of food! A quick heads us, the oinion rings is more than enough for four people. I thought we would get a couple of rings, but it was a plate full. The size of each ring was HUGE, and I had never seen anything like it. We had lunch and enough leftover for dinner plus extra for our puppy. Wow. Plus, the inside is beautiful.

The Shepards pie is primo, but the cod presented as fish n' chips were like soggy sacks of oil, soft and quiet frankly, gross as heck. The fries were tasty, and the Guinness stout was right on! Additionally, the scotch eggs were tasty.

Came for dinner. Food & service was okay, but holy loud music. It was only 5PM & the music was so loud could not hear my wife. Didn't realize it had become a college bar instead of a nice place to eat & drink beer. My ears are still ringing. Loud music alone will keep me away.

This used to be a great place to eat but the last few times we’ve gone have not been enjoyable. The music is so loud that you can’t talk to each other, and during this last visit the waitress got both my beer order and dinner order wrong, likely because she couldn’t hear! And there are constantly people standing around in large groups, so you can’t move around. It’s more of a bar that you can order food at instead of a restaurant.

Is it possible to travel back to the UK in a half-booth? Apparently. Spent a sleepy, overcast afternoon here last month. Homemade potato soup and bread to start. Scotch eggs were special with a bottle of Belhaven. Forgot I was in Illinois for a couple of hours.

Eating here right now. First time. And last. Host seated me so it's not like I sneaked in unnoticed. 15 minutes before I saw my waitress. Had appetizer, soup and Ruben. Potato leek soup was a strange shade of brown and tasted gritty... probably the leeks not cleaned well. Potato skins were good. No drink refills until meal practically over. The Ruben was ok. Strange thousand island dressing. Not sure why the service was horrible. Sunday night. Not very busy. Some college students. I'm in town all week but doubt I will be back here.

Excellent food, staff and service

We had lunch there, I can imagine it would be busy for dinner. I can say that the food was very good. I had the Irish Beef Stew, and it was the best I have ever had. My whole family loves this place.

Went on a Friday night. They had lost our reservation but we were still seated quickly. Had the leek soup, always a favorite in a bread bowl, the curry chips, and the beef boxty. All excellent as usual.

Great Irish pub. Very similar to the ones in Ireland. The banners and mash, Sheppard's pie and salmon have all been great!

Good service and good food! We got chicken tenders, fries, and the beef stew. They were out of the NY strip and the boxty though, but it was a pretty busy Saturday night.

Decent food portions are a little small but generally well prepared they do give you plenty of fried potatoes to make up for the lack of meat. I would suggest adding hot water service to the bathrooms... Water was ice cold so hard to clean hands... Sure hope the employees have hot water to wash hands before working.
