We are visiting Louisville for the first time, and David truly made the experience. After playing at the science center with the kids, a quick and delicious lunch was just what we needed to reenergize us for the rest of the day. My family and I found this restaurant around the corner from the science center. The staff was lovely and the food was delicious. My husband and I both thought the soups we got were awesome (broccoli/cheddar & garden). Highly recommend for a nice place to sit and enjoy some tasty food :)

Main Eatery has the best cooked chicken I've ever had. I can't stress enough how good this chicken was. The gentleman working at the counter explained how it was prepared, with seasoning, cooking, and pressing. I listened and understood, but I didn't fully grasp what he was saying. I ordered a typical salad and got the chicken on top as a protein. As per my usual style, I eat the salad first and save the protein for the end as a little treat. Even after consuming my salad, the chicken was still warm. And it was still moist. And it was definitely delicious. But the thing I couldn't believe was just how moist and tender it was. I'm so used to salads with cold and dry chicken on top. This was anything but typical. The salad came with two cups of dressing on the side. I didn't even use them, that's how good this chicken was. Get whatever else you want here, but make sure you try the grilled chicken too. My wife got the tuna sandwich and really enjoyed it. She shared a quarter of it with our kid, who also said it was great. Our kid also got the tomato bisque. Our kid's complaint about it was that it was too sweet. I took a few bites and I agreed. However, I also finished the 3/4's of the bowl remaining that my kid didn't eat. So it wasn't my favorite tomato bisque by a long shot (because it was too sweet), but it was still enjoyable as a special treat. As far as service goes, we loved interacting with the gentleman at the register. He took his time with each customer, explaining the menu items, their origins, how they are prepared, etc. He even took the time to answer all our kid's questions about how the desserts were made. He was a pleasure to speak with and it showed his passion for the business and food. It might have slowed the line down a bit, but nobody in line seemed to mind at all. They knew they'd be cared for and they knew the food would be fresh and fantastic.

Based on reviews, we stopped to eat here for a light, casual lunch. We arrived around 1pm knowing they close at 2pm. The guy at the register was extremely friendly but had an ongoing conversation with almost every group while taking their order. Meanwhile, the line is to the door. They were sold out of grilled chicken and broccoli soup. Since he talked to everyone, it took us 20 min to get our food ordered. Fortunately once it was ordered, it was ready quickly. My son and I had turkey sandwiches and my hubs had the burger which was on special. Overall, there was NOTHING special about this place. $40 for 3 of us ro eat basic deli sandwiches. Friendly and fast, yes, but when there is a long line of customers, there is no need to have a full conversation with each group.

Fantastic spot for lunch! The owner was awesome - such hospitality and kindness. He walked me through the menu and genuinely cared that I had a great experience. The black bean chili was the best I’ve ever had. It was as close to chili with meat as I could imagine. You can’t beat the cost either - I was shocked at the value I got. Absolute Louisville gem. You are missing out if you don’t stop by.

Ok, I straight up loved this place. You can really tell they take pride in their food prep, the cleanliness and the overall welcoming feeling you get here. It is warm and charming with really yummy food!! I had the blue plate special which was a Kentucky ham and swiss. I don't personally like sweet-cured meats, but had a nice conversation with the gentleman at the register and learned it's not too sweet, and he was right! It was so good!! And the veggie soup was really flavor-packed. It was a short walk here from the Louisville Slugger Museum and would definitely recommend!

We got there shortly after they opened late morning, and by the time we were seated the line was already filling up and spilling out the door. The historic building The Main St Eatery occupies, contains all the charm Old Louisville has to offer. The hosts David and Floyd were very personable, and the Turkey sandwich and bacon potato soup was everything one could hope for a quick efficient bite before getting back to work. This will definitely be added to my list of places to frequent when lunching downtown.

Nicely decorated and a comfortable table for two selection on any of the four floors. The blue plate special on a Thursday was the softest buttery croissant with chicken salad, a choice of chips, soup, or salad, and a heavenly slice of cheesecake topped with raspberry and chocolate sauce. This was by far the best complete dining experience we had in Louisville! To this point, other dining experiences we had in town were fairly mediocre.
