Completley obsessed with this place. Everything from their sandwiches to the catering. They're the best Italian specialty spot in the area - highly recommend!!

Called this morning to place an order. Guy asked me hold and put down the phone. Nine minutes later they hung up on me. I had already ordered from Vespuccis down the street. But this is rude and inconsiderate. I live in town and wouldnt recommend this place now.

Awesome food and awesome people. I've had almost everything off the menu and everything has been fantastic. My go to is the chicken cutlet sandwich with provolone and broccoli Rabe. Love it! My only wish is the place was bigger with more tables to eat.

This is my first time here, the place is so clean & welcoming! I got a wrap with fig jam, prosciutto and burratta and it was amazing!!

I've been here for a year, and just now do I discovered this most amazing Italian Deli. (Only 2.5 miles from my hotel) The owner SAl was Incredibly cordial and extremely hospitable apon my entering the store, he could pretty much tell I wasn't sure about what I wanted and offered me some samples and answered all my questions, so helpful. ( I say customer service is not dead. You just need to go to the right joints ) Everything looked so amazing. I decided on trying three sandwiches. 1. Chicken parm. ( Incredible Delicious) 2. Meatball Parm. ( Super Delicious as well) 3. Pastrami on Rye. ( For tomorrow ) 4 Tiramisu. ( Dessert ) 5. Vanilla Cream Soda Everything was perfect!!! Hands down the best deli I've found in New Jersey since I've been here. All in all, I had an incredible experience at this Italian Deli! From Sal's hospitality to the delicious sandwiches and desserts, it seems like I've found a gem. It's great to know that customer service is alive and well at this spot in New Jersey!

The ham salami and prov. on the 12 inch roll is the best in N.J. hands down!! Everything is top quality no matter what you order! Totally worth the 30 min drive for a sanwich and a couple loafs of fresh baked bread that competes with Calandras maybe better!!!

My first time going to Mama Rao's, I got a chicken parm sandwich and rice balls. Everything was absolutely delicious, you can not go wrong at Mama Rao's Everything is OMG So GOOD.

Super bad attention. Extremely rude and unprofessional not to mention the racist owner with greatness issues that treats all employees like garbage who probably doesn’t remember he’s from Italy. Foods not bad, but it does takes some control hear this guy talk to the employees.

I am so happy I found this place!! Food and service is 10/10. Staff makes you feel like you’re apart of their family! Their fresh mozzarella is just the best. As an Italian with a gluten sensitivity, I am so thankful for their gluten free Italian bread so I can have their amazing sandwiches! The Amore Mio with the Italian meats and hot honey is chefs kiss. Have enjoyed everything I have gotten so far though.

This is my go to place for fresh Italian bread and Mozzarella cheese made fresh daily! Their escarole and bean soup is delicious. They have a full line of Italian cheeses and cold cuts, fresh sausage, burgers, chicken cutlets and other meats cut to order. Many prepared hot foods as well as hot and cold sandwiches. There are tables to order and eat in, if you want to sit and enjoy the food along with the company of regular customers.

I have passed this place hundreds of times and today I stopped. Great Experience from Start to finish. Had the breaded chicken cutlets and fresh Mozzarella. Both were amazing. Service was great, super friendly.

This place is phenomenal! The food is absolutely delicious and fresh. When I went inside to order a sandwich, the entire place was spotless and the customer service was so friendly. The fresh mozzarella here is to die for. Best chicken cutlet, mozzarella, roasted red pepper sandwich I have ever had! 5/5!

Expensive. But what isn’t these days. $14.00 for a 7 in sub. It was good but not for that price. Bread was really good. Employee was very nice which is refreshing

I've driven by Mama Rao's many times but never stopped in. This time, we did, and I was very glad we did. The food was surprisingly good and fresh. The group i went with all commented, we will be back. Thanks.

Love this place! Everything I have tried from the penne vodka, grilled/fried chicken, broccoli rabe , meatballs and homemade soups are delicious! The owners and workers are sooo nice and always greet you and smile when you walk in. Their creamy balsamic is so freaking good too! So happy I found Mama Raos kitchen

I stop here when I visit the East Hanover area. I love their sandwiches and the Italian rice balls. I always pick some up to take home. They have all sorts of Italian deli specialties. I would recommend this place to friends and relatives.

Speechless!!! Today was my first time catering from here. Every single person absolutely loved the food. I hosted a repast for my dad, we’re Italian, I had restaurant owners here and even they were all blown away. Thank you to Raos and staff for the exceptional food!

Staff is friendly and helpful. There are some staple items that are always available but lots of daily specials on offer as well. The food is always delicious.

I wanted to like this place so much after all these great reviews! I’m raised on 110% italiano delis ala Nutley Belleville Bloomfield Newark and consider myself a paisan of sorts. But the soup was bland and tasted mainly like heavy cream, they put old provolone with fridge taste in my wrap and the wrap itself was the kind that tastes like glue. The mortadella didn’t even have pistachios :( I won’t comment on the customer service but I’ll say only one person looked me in the eye. Not sure I’ll be returning but here’s wishing you all the best in the future!

Words cannot tell you just how awesome this place is. You MUST go and get something to eat here and let your mouth decide! This gem was recommended to me by a colleague and oh my, was I pleasantly surprised. Owners and staff treated you like family and couldn't be nicer. The place is small but well organized and very clean. Everything I tried was incredible. Their fresh bread and fresh mozzarella take the first price trophy. The bread is lightly crunchy with beautiful texture and taste. The mozzarella was warm, just made, and so very creamy. If you have just those two items, you'll be back. However, had their fresh sausage which had wonderful flavor. Eggplant cutlet was thin, flavorful, not greasy. Excellent sandwiches... bought about 5 different ones for a luncheon at work and they were incredible. If you like spicy, the stuffed hot peppers will delight you. Also had the almond cookies and fudge brownies... better than you could hope for. Only bummed because it's close and I really don't need food this good in my diet!! Lolol... well done, Mana Rao's... well done.
