Place is horrible every time I order it to go it's under cooked

The pizza is above fair but the service is always so complicated. I have 4 small kids under the age of 7. I have one in a carseat. I asked if they could just bring the order to the parking lot knowing I couldn't carry the pizza and the baby (in the rain), even if the other kids carried the soda. They told me no because the staff was too small to leave the building and meet me in parkinglot. Last time I ordered from them for my friend and myself and 6 kids between us, they only allowed me to take 4 straws and said they had to save the rest for any guest that might come in to dine in.

We ordered take out pizza, and wow it was delicious! Perfectly cooked, sauce tasted so fresh and the cheese was melted to perfection !

lady at the desk was inundated with orders and still stopped to tell me how best to reheat the stuffed bread. i walked out feeling cared for.

Wow….I specifically came here because I was in the area and saw Dave Portnoy recently reviewed a pizza here. Was excited to try their shrimp scampi pizza. I asked for extra mozzarella and bacon. I specifically said I was here because of Dave Portnoy as I already have a favorite spot for shrimp scampi pizza. This shrimp scampi pizza was the worst I ever had. There was no flavor whatsoever. They put dry non marinated shrimp on mozzarella cheese and put it in the oven. No garlic, no oregano, no extra mozzarella, I ordered, no scampi, non existent bacon, no nothing flavor and dried out shrimp that was hard to chew. Crust had char which I liked but a hard pass from me even coming in at 3pm in the afternoon with no one there. The second photo is from Gia Marie’s in East Haven where I normally get my shrimp scampi pizza. So disappointing. Save your money! Never again !

The air conditioner was on too low in restaurant .my takeout order was done at 446 pm on Sunday June 23 but I didn't get my order for a half hour I asked for my money back and they refused to give me a refund.also if my pizza was just made why was the large mozzarella sausage pizza cold.it was not satisfying.

After ordering on THEIR WEBSITE, the order never was delivered. They pointed to Uber and Uber pointed to them! Spoke to owner who was "too busy to resolve the problem", so Ct Department of Consumer Protection will help with a determination. I certainly won't be back!

The pizza was not made as ordered. It had happened once before not that long ago but decided to give another try. It was worse this time than last time. Either the girl answering the phone doesn’t know how to take an order or the person making the pizza can’t read her writing. Asked for a large all extra mozzarella, 1/2 meatball & light baked. It had no extra mozzarella and was burnt. The bottom of the crust was black. The meatballs were dry and hard.

Love the pizza from Marco's, always thin and crunchy and full of toppings. This time I tried the cauliflower crust meat lovers and it was excellent. We also tried the garden pizza, good as well.

Pizza is thin crust. Parking is limited. Hard 2 get up steps, go thru 2 doors, bad design. Need a ramp like back door going up into one door, Not 2 doors with lil space btwn doors. Steps there make it dangerous.

This is the best pizza! Generous toppings, delicious crust and great service. Polite and professional. Very clean restaurant. We travel the 95 corridor often and make a special stop at Marco's. We'll order pizza to go for another night! If you like a great pizza it's worth the trip!

Best pizza in Branford. This deserve 5/5 even though New Haven pizza is only 10 minutes away. If you’re in Branford looking for pizza choose this over all the others you won’t regret it. Dine in is better but take out is also great. Pictured is their cheese pie and bacon potato.

Great pizza..tasty crust and flavorful cheese,the sauce just a little bit on the sweet side.good fried calamari appetizer and chicken soup. Overall food was very good.Service from Jackie our waitress was stellar. First time here but we'll be back.eager to try the entrees. Returned again last night and this was probably the best pizza we've ever had. Service slow but the very sweet waitress, Lisa, explained that they were a little overwhelmed with a huge catering order. Very friendly and good service with those considerations.well be back to Marcos in the future.

I stopped in this pizzeria restaurant today and grabbed a slice of mozzarella pizza pie on the advice of a gentleman from the area stating this place is clean and consistently has good pizza. It is New Haven style. There is a restaurant here if someone wants to have a sit down meal. I noticed they have stuffed breads that sound delicious and some desserts that look delicious. The young lady that served me was nice. She assured me with her unbiased opinion that the pizza is good here, which I verified to be true.

I normally go to Capones (across the street). I came in on a Monday bc I didn't know Capones was closed. I asked about the pizza and other items. The waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu items. So I ended up ordering the Buffalo chicken egg rolls and a half clam and bbq chicken cauliflower pizza. The egg rolls were greasy and not fully cooked and my pizza initially had hair in it. Ok so they remade it and it didn't take long at all. The chicken on the pizza had an old taste to it and the clam pizza just tasted like the white sauce that was on it. I ordered water and the water had a real funny taste so I ordered ginger ale and that tasted the same. Overall the service was great but the food not so much.

This place is amazing. Huge variety of pizzas and other items. We have never had a bad meal when ordering from them.

Powerfully mediocre pizza. If you like your crust cracker-thin and burned to a crisp you’ll love this place. Odd interpretation of a Margherita: I was expecting bufala or fresh mozzarella, light sauce, and fresh basil applied after the bake. Got watery whole tomatoes (not even San Marzano or Roma), grated low moisture mozz, and withered blackened basil.

This pizza is by far the worst I’ve ever had. It’s either raw or rubber. They can never get the order correct and the prices are outrageous for the garbage they’re serving. Greasy, salty, disgusting. Will never order again.

Ordered a traditional pepperoni. Flavor of the sauce and meat was perfection, could certainly tell they value quality!

It’s been a while since I’ve been here and I will probably not be back anytime soon. 2 of us dining..early no one there and they sat us all the way in the back. To start I asked for coffee since I don’t drink soda ( no alcohol served) and it was raining out so it sounded good. I was told that they had 1 left and its a keurig..(not a fan) but ok. what I wasn’t told was that it was flavored!! Just the smell alone. Not everyone wants flavors. Ugh such a disappointment! Didn’t drink it..they offered us garlic knots instead 😜. The salad was ok. Peppercorn dressing wasn’t fresh tasting and the pizza… well the crust was way too burnt!! Very disappointing. Ending up across the street for dessert!! Too bad.

We hadn’t been here in a while so we thought we would check it out again. The interior has been redecorated and looks great with cream and gray….fresh look. We ordered a few small white garlic pies with different toppings, and they were really good….the right balance of cheeses, toppings, and garlic, and not salty at all. The crust is nice and thin and crispy but it’s not your typical New Haven style dough…not as bready, more of a flatbread style (what I refer to as bar pizza) so it wasn’t as floppy, but it was still really good- better than lots of places- and perfect for a white pie. Next time we’ll try a typical red sauce and revise our review.

The food is good. Thank you. They use very good quality cheese and their salads are not bad. They're fresh anyway. We come here once a week and order a variety of things. Food is consistently good across the board. Please note that when you order from here that the people answering the phone always sound really tired and done. Please treat these people kindly they are doing you a service. That being said, perhaps they can work on their phone skills because whenever I order pizza they always sound really exhausted and done and overworked. Be kind to food service workers.

Great food, great (and very friendly) service with plenty of free on-site parking. Best lasagna I've ever had! Definitely recommended!

This review is for Marco Pizzeria’s PIZZA. I cannot vouch for any other food on their menu. In fact, I am giving them a pass on the Caesar Salad I ordered. ***I would suggest skipping salads here - below that top layer of good looking lettuce was lettuce that should not have been served. Also, dressing is a solid MEH.*** But I’m removing the lowest grade because what I came for was the pizza! Marco Pizzeria is serving Napoletano style apizza (AHBEETZ!) made famous in the New Haven, CT region here by Frank & Pepe’s (no longer family owned, now just another chain…I don’t go). Marco learned his pizza craft working at Frank Pepe back in the day and then opened his own spot in Branford. Look, I don’t care what you think. New Haven County is The Pizza Capital if the world. Napletano Apizza is The Best Pizza. Paper thin crust. Cooked at HIGH heat so that crust is cooked all the way through and the edges have traces of “char” on them and big, crispy “bubbles.” The dough/crust itself is DELICIOUS and flavorful, even without any toppings. The King of Apizza is The White Clam Pizza. I’ve eaten Marco’s White Clam many times. It is perfection. Plenty of fresh clams garlic, pecorino. Food of The Gods. During Covid, when no one could get anything in Connecticut I could get everything up in Vermont. But my family is all down here. So I would collect up a truckload of paper towels and toilet paper and Lysol and anti- bacterial wipes and bread and bacon etc etc etc and drive down to Greenfield, MA. My brother-in-law, would drive up from Branford and we’d park the trucks back-to-back and move the load over. Pete would bring me a white clam pizza from Marco and I would eat it, cold, in the vehicle on the drive back up to Vermont. And it would still be DELICIOUS!! If you can execute a great White Clam you likely can do anything else with pizza. Last night I ordered a White Shrimp, a Pizza Romana (pureed plum tomatoes, Pecorino Cheese, no Mozzarella) and the Classic Margherita, with red sauce (fresh Mozzarella, fresh sliced tomatoes, fresh basil - comes “white” unless you add the red sauce). If you are at all lactose intolerant (as many of us are…), but you still want the full Apizza experience, order the Pizza Romana. Pecorino is a sheep milk cheese, full of flavor. Delicious and great mouthfeel. Easy to take bites of because nothing “pulls” or slides off. I only recently started trying white shrimp pizza and I am sorry I waited this long! Marco’s White Shrimp is pizza perfection: Fresh mozzarella, garlic, and plenty of shrimp that were all cooked perfectly. Which is kind of amazing. It is easy to overcook shrimp and turn them into terrible rubber. It’s also easy to use “not great” shrimp... Marco Pizzeria is using excellent shrimp and then turning out an incredibly flavorful pizza with those shrimp. Full Disclosure: I ate 2 slices of the White Shrimp Pizza the day after, cold, directly out of the fridge. Obviously that is a completely different experience than eating the pizza piping hot and fresh from the oven. But I’m here to tell you it’s STILL a fantastically delicious experience. As in every bite of cold Shrimp Pizza was just delightful and brought me joy. The ONLY cold pizza I have ever had that experience with is New Haven Style, Napolitano Apizza. The Classic Margherita is basically a delicious, exceptional cheese pizza. Or what most people think of as a “cheese pizza.” Really, really good. Adding the red sauce gives more depth of flavor and the acidity of the tomatoes as a counterpoint to the fresh mozzarella. Even so, I want to try this without the added red sauce to see what that’s like. Obviously will still be delicious! Marco has completely redone their interior. HANDS DOWN the best, nicest interior of any pizzeria I’ve been in in The Shoreline region. The “standard” interior at all these great (and I do mean GREAT) pizzerias in the New Haven area is “old and tired." I HIGHLY recommend. Single folks take note: Perfect Pizza Date Night spot!

I have been going to Marco's pizza since they first opened in Branford many years ago. My entire childhood, this was my most favorite pizza place, even with all the options in town. I live out of town now, and only get to have Marco's when I'm here for a visit. I went recently and picked up 2 pies to go and the girls at the counter were very unfriendly and barely made any eye contact with me. I understand being busy, but you should at least greet people and be cordial. I've worked in customer service my whole life. What I was most disappointed in though, was the quality of the pizza. They must have changed their sauce because the pizza I got tasted nothing like the Marco's that I remember. It was honestly inedible. This place used to be so incredible, I never had a bad pie for many, many years. I'm so disappointed and hope they consider changing back to however the pizza was made before.

Great pizza definitely an 8.5. Joe made my pizza today and it was great. The girls at the counter are always great especially Cassie.

This place used to be 5 stars. Between the gnats in the back dining room, the sub par takeout service and the pizza that never seems to be as you ordered, it's just another in the long line of recent restaurant failures.

First and last time for me. The pizzas were too salty, and the dough was like eating suede leather. They told me they didn't make medium pizzas only large and small, but when I opened the box, it looked to actually be the size of everyone else's medium. I will take my business elsewhere.

Usually good pizza was soggy wet and mush. Was not a busy time either. Was still so hot bringing home could not keep on my lap.

Worst chicken franchise I've ever tasted. So bland you can't taste any component of the sauce. Asked for extra sauce and it was barely moist- almost dry. Amazing pizza, such great great rolls but for the cost of that chicken franchise...incredibly disappointed, I tossed it away.

It took 45 min to fill the order and the food was cold I called them for a refundThey argued with me and the only refund was for another order I will contest the credit card charge

Best steak and cheese grinder!!!

Bought a steak and cheese and it was awful.

The garlic knots are absolutely the best I’ve ever had. They’re made to order and taste like little Italian clouds of deliciousness. The linguini with clam sauce was surprisingly fresh, flavorful, and not as oily/buttery as I thought it might be. Prepared just right. The pizza was cooked well with a nice New Haven Apizza crust. Even the cutlet grinder was good, to which I credit the outstanding provolone. And the price was reasonable. I’ve only had the takeout, which was good, but as a sit down spot, I liked it even more.

Finally great pizza without going into New Haven, can’t say enough this place really does it right if I could have given 10 stars I would have.

Tiny restaurant nestled between a liquor store and a hotel that has great quality cheese in their products. We ordered takeout. It was to be ready in about an hour. We walked by and the restaurant and it was not busy, so I wondered why it would take an hour to be ready. Ordered the meat lasanga which was mostly noodles and not much meat. The calzone was good if you like cheese. The quality of the cheese is fantastic. I will say that some members of our party loved this restaurant and have been recommending it to everyone. Personally we were not impressed.

We have always considered Marcos a highlight for pizza in Branford. Went to enjoy a few pies before the branford holiday parade and were disappointed with both service and food. Server expressed that she was new and due to short staffing she would do her best but things may be delayed. Things were very delayed. Unsure why management would leave a new waitress working not only the restaurant solo but also helping up front. Then the pizza arrived and the toppings were present but there was no cheese (mozz) on one of the pies. Due to the already slow service and the fact that we were dining with a toddler we opted to just let it go but honestly will probably not be back after all of this.

Love it here! The pizza is always on point - true new haven style thin and crispy! We enjoy some of the specialty pizzas, we tried the honey, bacon and ricotta pizza and the Buffalo chicken pizza tonight they were out of this world! So so so good!! The staff is super friendly and my kids had a great time! Also an awesome easy spot to stop at if you are headed to the Essex steam train from the new haven area! Highly recommend!!

I didn't care for the pizza and never paid so much for three toppings before.

So far I've had a Meatball pizza, the Buffalo Chicken pizza, A Steak and Cheese Sub with mushrooms and onions and a Chicken Parm Sub.. Everything was PERFECTION!

We have been looking for a thin crust pizza and not really into heading to Wooster Street so we tried Marco's. We were very pleased. We tried the pepperoni and cheese, the sausage with cheese and the plain with onion which they call the Romano pizza. All very good, light and the dough is delicious. We will continue to keep trying different options. They have stuffed breads, calzones, entrees and some traditional salads like cobb and other favorites. The parking is great and it's a nice clean place. Right on the main street of Branford. Oh and the staff is great!! Very friendly and accommodating!!

Very rude, and my wife was over charged for a glass of wine that hardly had any wine in the glass but got charged for it while the table next to us had a full glass and when I asked about it we were told oh well it was the bottom of the bottle, and on top of it they didn’t give us our change until I asked for it which is rude for them to assume that it’s all settled. Never again

great food! but last night when I picked up my food the girl at the counter was visibly sick and as a customer, i don’t want sick people around my food. the owners shouldn’t let their employees work sick, especially during flu season.

Ordered eggplant ricotta and cherry peppers no eggplant on pizza was all dough and dry , 2nd time no eggplant marcos went down hill in my opinion wont be going back

Pizza was good but I’d skip the subs they offer. The meatball sub I got was very small and dry. Definitely no love went into this sub. No sauce under the meatballs and the bread was kinda old and stale. It was like the size of a puffy hotdog bun. Not like a real Italian loaf of bread with that crunch you’d expect. Not worthy

Not a good experience person at the cash language barrier with understanding her different language, very bossy seems like she’s new but acts like she’s making the rules. Give a hard time about me asking for if had any dessert, say they’re closed,🤔 then give me hard time after, I got a side of meatballs ask for bread, then told be three dollars luckily waitress named Sherry made it right. But very unhappy after coming here for 15 years the customer service

Very warm thanks to Marco Pizzeria for the A++ service and great pizza. We had an urgent need for a large order to be delivered early on a Saturday to Stony Creek for a funeral. Contacted Marco Pizzeria from out of town based on recommendations from local friends. Jerry the owner personally delivered the pizza, on time, with a smile and was super helpful. Very much appreciated. At first was a bit skeptical, why Branford Pizza when New Haven is so close? What we experienced was 12 very tasty pies delivered with care. We shall return when in the area. Have been going here for years at least once a week. Today we ordered a Antipasto and pizza. The Antipasto came out. The second we started to put in on our paper dishes we saw little flies. I told the waitress and she said that it’s expected because it’s hot outside. I said that is not true at all. She said she could replace it but could not guarantee that there would be no bugs in it. The bill came and I asked how could you charge me for that, she argued that it was our fault until the people at the next table said so you think they carried flies into this place to put them in the Antipasto. The waitress then stormed off. Others in there that witnessed that where also disgusted by how this was handled. I asked for a manger and was told I could not speak to one. Never again will we step foot inside this establishment.

Fantastic New Haven Style Pizza. We go all the time and also hired the Pizza truck for our son's graduation. They did an amazing job and even customized the serving tables to match school colors. Great thin crust pizza with lots of options.

Marco's pizza is one of my favority pizzas. Delicious! We rarely eat pizza because of the high calorie count in general. Marco Pizza is worth every calorie.

Imagine ordering your pizza, getting home and having the order be wrong. No big deal right? It happens. Now imagine your sweet mother picks up the phone, calls the business and asks if the pizza can be remade as it was not as ordered. (this was a 5 pizza order- 2 were made incorrectly). All standard right? Now imagine the manager gets on the phone with your mother and angrily proceeds to boast that he made the pizza, that he made it correctly, and that your mother is the one at fault in this scenario. Fantastic customer service. Oh and to top it off? The manager barely gives your mother a moment to retort before hanging up in her face. Have you imagined this whole scenario? Now ask yourself if you would like to eat here. Regardless of if the pizza was made correctly or not, this is an absolutely disgusting way to treat your clientele. The food is not good enough to overlook such blatant rudeness to customers who were absolutely not being difficult. Thank you for messing up our order so we know to give another pizza place our business.

We ordered 5 pizzas two of them were gluten free and we ordered spinach, chicken, mozzarella, white sauce and the crust. My sister said it twice for them and the girl confirmed twice. We get home no white sauce. We called them back and the girl wanted to take the old pizzas and make new ones. Then she went to talk to the manager. He gets on the phone and is short and rude to my mother saying. “That’s traditional no red sauce, I make my self no problem ok good bye.” and hangs up on her. It was recommended by a friend but after some digging they are under new management and they are drying up the clientele. Like a pizza with no sauce.

This place is a negative 5 stars the manager is the rudest ever hung up in my face. Messed up my order and wouldn't fix it. I will NEVER go here again. It's a great place to waste money. I ordered it on June 13 2022 whoever was the manager on duty should be fired. I will make sure no one in my circle ever does business with them. Awful. I can't say enough how terrible they are.

I hate to give bad reviews however my family has given Marcos pizza the benefit of the doubt time and time again. Since the transition to new owners and staff the pizza has been awful. I lost count of all the times our order was messed up and we had to wait for new pizza to be cooked. My husband brought home mashed potato pizza and it literally had no cheese. There was no cheese in the middle of the pie. The same with our cheese pizza. Our Caesar salad was missing the dressing……. So disappointed because this was once our favorite place.

Updated a review I gave Marco pizza . We went there in April and we’re greeted by the waitress with we close at 9 ?it was after 8 but we decided to grab a bite after getting back from New York. The pizza was thin and crisp just like I like (delicious)! Our granddaughter order chicken she liked it . My husband ordered a salami grinder . When the waitress delivered the grinder I noticed that there was barely any meat . My husband open the sandwich and there was one slide of meat cut in half for the large grinder along with one slice each of cheese and tomato each cut in half to fit whole grinder they did add the lettuce… I posted a review here and got a text from a staff member who apologized for this. I was oh wow surprised that she cared messaged me and seem to want to make this right . She offered me a gift certificate and I accepted and I gave her my PoBox address I even took down the review well . Well when we went there in April I thought these people don’t like us and don’t want us come back . Not only did they skim on the grinder but they weren’t able to keep there word . Thumbs down .

Pizza was so good. My 6 year old are 4 slices! I had the honey, bacon, ricotta which was so unique and delicious. I am not usually a thin crust person but I loved this.

recently went for pizza, ordered 2 small. The bottoms were burnt and the tops were raw. Could not eat them. Told our server and she brought the bill and took the 2 pizzas away. No apology or offer to make things right. What a waste of $40!!!! They will never see us again!!!

Marcos pizza was great we bought 5 pies they were ready ahead of the scheduled time and they were one of the best pizzas we have had in a long time !! The quality and taste was comparable to the Wooster street groups. Friendly service could not have been better!!

Ordered a cherry pepper pizza. It was cooked perfect and very tasty. The the crust was as great as always. Service was attentive and quick!

I ordered a pizza via Doordash. After an hour and no show, I called the restaurant. I was told the pizza was sitting there but never picked up. They actually offered to call Doordash for me! Then they called me back and after apologizing profusely, told me they called Doordash and got another driver to deliver. They also told me they would comp me a bottle of soda for my trouble. Pretty great considering it was Doordash’s fail, not theirs. The pizza arrived 10 minutes later with a note of apology taped to the bottle of Birch Beer. They have a customer for life. Thank you for caring so much about your customers. I’ve already ordered again, as a result. New to town and appreciate their kindness.

Used to be THE place to go for pizza in the Branford area. Now it’s the place to avoid. New ownership just a coincidence? Only thing consistent about the pizza is that it’s usually burnt. I’m a longtime customer, and I have to say the staff is great, trying to explain to customers why their order is taking so long, but the other day I overheard someone (the owner?) berating a worker over something utterly inconsequential. No wonder they seem to have trouble retaining help. Anyway, if they could somehow turn the clock back a few years, maybe they can survive.

I Love the food I go twice a week

Pizza is pretty good. Steak and cheese sub may have been the worst I have ever had in my life tbh… steak was fine but the bread was frozen raw bread. I would not recommend getting a sandwich from here what do ever. Go here get pizza and foxon soda and call it a day!
