Our neighborhood go to for a quick dinner. very fresh and authentic. Chicken enchilada plate is our favorite. Chimichanga is great. Menu offers excellent value overall. Phone gets very busy at peak hours.

Worst customer service I really don’t understand the attitude of it looks like dump in the middle of nowhere should be happy you get customers…yeah sorry don’t go here if you’re not for the area or you’re not white

Extremely flavorful Carna Asada burritos that pair great with the homemade salsa. The hole in the wall no frills atmosphere along with the warm and welcoming staff make it that perfect Mexican joint. I have yet to try the elusive carnitas, but looking forward to when I do. Put this place as a must try for San Diego Mexican food, and bring cash!

I love the food here so much, and I'm so sad to write a bad review. But... $7.00 for a bean and cheese burrito is just robbery at this point. In no is beans, cheese, and a tortilla worth $7.00. I guess bean and cheese burritos are considered a luxury food item now sadly. In this economy, I cant afford to eat here anymore. Sad to say the other day was my last day here, and I've been coming for years. Sad times we are living in thats for sure.

It's not about the atmosphere, it's about the service, and lovingly prepared and delicious food. Reasonable priced and plentiful. It's my go to Mexican!

Tucked away, this hidden gem is the best there is. Carmen and her family have been feeding ours for over 30 years, and we've never had a bad meal yet. There's nothing but love and authenticity in every delicious bite....and their sauce over the top with flavor.

Grew up eating here in this neighborhood taco shop. I love their crispy beef tacos, chili relleno, bean tostadas, beans, guacamole, and salsa. Actually, everything here is good. Good home-cooked food by an exceptional family.

The atmosphere, for me, is that we have a family business that is serving the neighborhood and has been for some time. We love the family vibe. We generally take out. Maritza's Mexican food is at the top of the list for us. The machaca burrito is the best in town.

I am lucky to live close to my favorite Mexican food restaurant, great service, the best around in my opinion, call in advance to order, always super busy, that comes with the territory.

I was a teenager the first time I went to this restaurant. Recently I asked my guy if he'd ever gone there. He's now a Wednesday regular (that's when they have Carnitas). He picked some up and brought them over for dinner tonight. They are indescribably delicious. I can't believe I never tried them before. He says there's no other place that makes them so good.

I have been enjoying this humble little spot for over 25 years. Fantastic carne asada, chicken enchiladas, tamales, and rolled tacos. The real kicker is their hot sauce, which is just hot enough, with complex flavors - second to none!

Maritzas is a long standing favorite of mine. We have been going for years. We have yet to order something that is not awesome. Carmen and the whole family are kind, welcoming and great people. If you are looking to support a local, family run establishment, this is a no-brainer. Affordable and consistent.

Good food , small spot with no restrooms for customers.

First time here, was surprised on how busy it was I had too wait an hour for my food so be aware that it busy. Food was very good, owner's very nice. Cash only for this place.

Excellent food, the place is clean, and the staff are very friendly. Depending on the time of day you’re going, you’ll wait quite a bit because there are just so many people ordering, but it’s 100% worth the wait. It’s just that good.

I ordered two different plates (two beef tacos and a beef tamale with a Chile relleno). I ate, two beef tacos plate with rice and beans. The beans were delicious with their perfect seasoning and I really loved the chips that you have to scoop the beans with. The rice is well seasoned and not your average rice. It is overcooked in the best was and an amazing companion to the beans. The tacos were crunchy, meaty and cheesy. The homemade hot salsa was heavenly and I put it on all of the components of my meal. Yes, I will be going to Maritza's again very soon. I still have so many items on the cash only menu to try.

Best quality mexican food in San Diego.

My friend and I both order burritos and they only had meat no other fillings. Unsure if this is a normal thing or not but should have asked. They were ok burritos for what they were. Also place is cash only if you do plan to check it out

I tried some of the carne asada, the carnitas, and the shredded beef. This is not the typical taco shop. The style is more homestyle mexican food. Normally you think the best taco shops are the ones with the best meats. To me, none of the meats themselves were amazing in of themselves, but rather the overall dish together tasted very satisfying due to the freshness and crispiness and hotness. It's like if your grandmother took the freshest guacamole with the freshest pico and the crispest lettuce and piping hot tortillas and put it together for you. It was oddly satisfying and I kept going back for more bites.

Get ready for some authentic Mexican food. This little off the beaten path place has got true Mexican flavors. Eating these tacos was like going back in time to my days of home cooked tacos. The salsa is homemade and delicious. A little kick to bring some zing to your meal. The staff are friendly. We really enjoyed our two taco plate with beans and rice.

Little spot hidden behind mini-mall stores. Phone in for orders and pick them up because there is a sizable fan base outside waiting for their walk-up orders. My tamale and enchilada combo was very tasty and the food was ready right on time.

What a place. Very old school. Great people with great food. I got the asada chimichanga, and it was perfect. It's cash only, but worth it. Ordered by phone and they said okay, 21 minutes, and they weren't lying. 21 minutes later the order was ready.

Maritza’s is our favorite Mexican Restaurant. My brother loves to come for Carnitas Wednesdays as so many others. We dine in and many of the to go orders seemed to be the Wednesday Carnitas. I like many of the dishes, taco plates, enchiladas and other combo plates. Our favorite thing that brings us here is the homemade salsa that Carmen makes every day. You can see her chopping the chili peppers and blending the delicious salsa. Many people also comment on the their salsa. The location is a little hidden in the south west area of Clairemont off of Mt Acadia in a little strip mall. The building is also set back off Mt Acadia so you need to drive to the back of parking lot entrance. It is worth going there. It is a hidden gem of Mexican Food and many of the customers are regulars which Carmen knows most by name and she knows what they normally order.She and her mom , also named Carmen are so nice and attentive. If you haven’t been there , it is a must try, highly recommended.

This is me and my family’s all time favorite Mexican food place. We’ve been to so many different Mexican food places in the San Diego area and none are quite as good. The refried beans are heavenly, the rice is delectable and the salsa on top ties it all together. My all time favorite plate here is the beef chimichanga. I’ve got it a good 30+ times. It’s been my favorite food since I was 9 years old. I’m 24 now. I also love the enchiladas, the sauce is the best I’ve ever tasted. I live in Utah now but I dream of this food and wish they could transport their restaurant to Utah so people can experience what good Mexican food actually tastes like. I know that’s not going to happen but it would be the best thing that ever happened to me. I at least hope they never close and their food will taste like it has for the last 15 years for the rest of my life. Nobody else tops Maritzas Mexican Food. In all the years eating there, Carmen and her daughter and their amazing cooks have never messed up an order and my family has made some biiig orders. We have a huge family. My grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles and now nieces and nephews have all enjoyed coming here. Thank you for being one of our family traditions! The quality is always ABSOLUTELY AMAZING unlike so many other food places I’ve been. I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Another great Mexican eateries in SD. We ordered from the parking lot and picked up the food in 29 min. The food was really good. We got fish taco, chicken taco and machaca. Taste was really good and portions were huge. Great fiod and great service.
