The food was great. Had the sausage soup and Schnitzel.

We went to see Good Time Charlie on a Thursday night and had a wonderful meal. Might night have not have gone there had it not have been for Charlie, buy will.probably return on our next visit because of Chailie ans the good food.

Wife and I came back to the area after being married here 22 years ago. Stopped in at Martell's for lunch. The food was awesome. The Fox sandwich and Cherry cobbler cheesecake were absolutely fantastic. What also made the food so awesome was the service. Kylie was very personable, funny, and witty. My wife commented that Kylie might just be the nicest person we've met on our trip. Thanks Kylie!! Keep it up, not many people are as friendly as you out there!! Great place to eat people and make sure to stop here on your travels!!

Great service, excellent burgers and possibly the best wings out there! Huge wings with a perfect blend of sweet and spicy...no dipping sauce necessary.

Stopped in for a later dinner and was able to catch the last half hour of the evening music entertainer (good time Charlie). Loved the atmosphere, friendly service, and solid meals (crab cake sandwich, bacon cheese burger, a great potato soup, and good potato skins)...picture is not super exciting, but where we live we can not get labatts in a bottle, so this was the topper for a nice experience 😁

Had a reservation for 4 but my party decided to do something else. I went alone with an order for 5 other people but I wanted to sit and watch charlie. I was refused a table. Was told it wouldn't be a good business decision to let me have my table alone even though I was going to bring 4 dinners to go and had a reservation. So I left

The food is great and the staff are super friendly and quick. It's also really comfy inside so you feel very much at home in there.

Went there last night while we were staying at Smuggler's Notch. We were 6 of us and all of our dinners were not only delicious but the portions were very large! Seeing Good Time Charlie was certainly a very big bonus! We have always loved hearing him sing! When we come up to Smuggs next year, we will certainly be going back!

The best cheese cake we’ve ever had!!

Very poor service. Food was delayed and wrong. Waitress didn’t check on us. Of course when we leave they are having a good time hanging out at the bar. Wasn’t busy at all. 1 star

Barely off the scenic route between Stowe and Jeffersonville, this place is a gem. One might wonder whether to order the seafood, in the woods of northern Vermont. Be sure to order the seafood...and anything else. They have the freshest seafood...and the kitchen honors it. They honor all the ingredients, seafood, meat, vegetables, prepared to gourmet level but at incredibly fair prices. Don't miss the turn-off on Route 108 and don't miss Martell's.

Stopped in one afternoon for lunch. Sat at the bar. Ordered a salad and my fiancé got soup and a sandwich. Food was excellent! They also had a decent selection of beers on tap. The bartender was very friendly and service was quick. Will definitely go back in the future, when in the area.

We ordered takeout and everything was delicious 10 minutes later.

Off Route 108 on the way to Smuggs is a gem of a restaurant. A relaxed atmosphere with a bar area and dinning area. On the weekend there's a live band and in the summer an outdoor area. We went between ski season and Memorial Day so the outdoor area was not open yet. Our companions drove 45 minutes to get there and love the food. I ordered the sesame ahi tuna. It was perfectly done with a side of rice and veggies. My husband ordered the duck which was fabulous! Our companions ordered steak tips and baked haddock. Everyone was very happy with the food. We had the crab cakes for an appetizer and they were more crab than cake, which is the way we like it. The staff was great and very friendly!! We were there during off season but still called ahead for reservation. I would recommend this as even off season they were busy. They also offer take out, but I don't know if they offer this during ski season. I would highly recommend Martell's.

We went for dinner last night - the veggie stir fry was great (nice hint of maple to the teriakyi sauce) and my husband liked his mac and cheese with pulled pork

Second time being here and hasn't disappeared! Brought my sister for Birthday/ Mother's Day. Her first time. She loved it! Will definitely be back

First time here that I can remember. Have always heard good things. Had the jambalaya. It was certainly spicy with quality ingredients. Waitress maybe a tad inexperienced but good. We were hoping for live entertainment but maybe off season. Overall I would go back and try a different dish! When the band is on

The menu options are great, unfortunately the food is plain not very tasteful. We had 5 people in our dinner party all had no flavor.

Delicious dinner, welcoming atmosphere, and great service. We got to enjoy the open mic musicians and could still chat around the table. Our server was so kind and attentive, and when she found out it was our first night in Vermont, she offered great sightseeing/dining recommendations for our stay.

Stopped by while in Vermont for the eclipse. Seemed like a nice ski resort style restaurant, within view of Smugglers Notch. Found my food to be tasty.

This was a nice casual dinner. The staff was excellent, and the food was tasty. I had the fish and chips, which was crispy and flaky, and my husband had a good burger. Try the sriracha wings... they're a unique experience.

They were quick to seat us and quick to give us drinks, and more drinks, and reordering for the 3rd time. Problem was we ordered dinner and it took an hour and 15 minutes to get our soup and salad. Then another 20 for the main course. The food was quite good, better than expected, very well made and balanced, I just wish we didnt have to wait over an hour for it. I heard grumblings from 2 other tables about the extremely slow service too. Maybe they need more cooks in the kitchen? Definitely had enough servers. I would go here again but I wouldn't go hungry because I know we are going to wait a while.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great, however we waited about 1 hour from when our server took our order to when we finally received our appetizer. Maybe it was just busy; we went on a Monday night around 8pm

First and foremost, the food here was outstanding. It felt like fine dining in a rugged area. However, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the extreme wait times. We had a reservation and were quickly seated. The staff was polite and pleasant and took our order quickly. We ordered an appetizer of fried calamari (exquisite and fresh), seared ahi tuna (also fresh and delicious), shrimp scampi (possibly the best I've ever tasted), chicken picatta, and my youngest got a burger and fries. And then the waiting started. Our appetizer did not come out for 30 minutes. We devoured it quickly fully hungry at that point and then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes for entrees to arrive. Once finished we waited another 20 minutes before I practically snagged one of the few waitresses working to ask for a to-go box and out check. Post tip, the meal was $130 for the four of us and we all drank water. Overall, the food is good. The price is regrettably typical for this area, but the waiting was exhausting. Perhaps I'm just a city slicker and unfamiliar with the ways of the area, but surely other places serve their customers a little faster.

Worst service I have had in a while.we asked for drinks and our server(Colleen) was very rude and had an attitude. Told us she had other people to take care of in a very rude manner. She knew she was going to get gratuity so she didn’t care about us the food was good but the worst part was the costumer service.

We are visiting Smugglers Notch from Ottawa Canada and have had dinner at Martell's twice. The food is excellent (appears to be home-made to order). Service is fantastic and the 2 brothers who own the business work the floor and do whatever needs to be done next! Nice to see such dedicated owners. But most importantly, we went last night for dinner (4 adults and 3 children). They have an automatic gratuity for parties of 6 or more, which I forgot about when I signed by credit card payment, and tipped $40.00. I checked my statement online today, and the server Kylie (??) actually did not put through the extra $40.00. A huge shout out to Kylie. I have in the restaurant business for over 45 years, and this was very heartwarming to see. Thank you Kylie.

Great place to grab food and beer with locals closeby to Smugglers Notch Resort and access to 108.

02/23/2024 Friday night. Great as usual 10/4/2023 4 for dinner. Shrimp chorizo with fettuccine spectacular. Shrimp fettuccine delicious, Ahi tuna really good. Broccolini with Asiago appetizer excellent. 02/24/2023. 2 for dinner. Sat at bar. Everyone is so nice here. Had the brussel sprouts again the Jambalaya. ( the best here) we also had the shrimp fettuccine was also delicious. Never disappointed. 02/24/2022. Dinner. Excellent. One of the few places that are staffed and actually have everything on the menu. The food was delicious. Jambalaya with shrimp over fried grits and shrimp risotto with asparagus corn and spinach. The jalapeño popper dip was excellent as well as an appetizer. Waitress was attentive and informative. 04/13/2022. Dinner again blacked chicken over pasta with red peppers and asparagus. EXCELLENT Brussel sprouts appetizer with Asiago great.

Really good food in a nice Vermont environment

The food was good I liked the apple in the sandwich I would say it was above average but not much more for the price of a sandwich. I did really like the jalapeños dip with the chips that is worth getting for your app. Overall it was good service and food but again for those two things and 2 beers for right 40ish dollars seems a bit high for me

Nice relaxing atmosphere for a late lunch with tasty food and reasonable prices. We were not there for any live music, but would go back again if we were in town longer.

Glad we made a reservation because even at 5pm and few skiers around between Christmas and New Years (no snow, mostly mud), Martell's was packed and it was easy to understand why. Great atmosphere (think it used to be a Church or Schoolhouse), warm, great casual food which was a notch above what it could have been. Great beer selection, well-priced. Good for groups and families.

If you want a 5 star NYC restaurant, this is not the place. If you want good food and a warm atmosphere, this is the place! Good selections of food and drink. Portions are good and the choice of appetizers is great!

This location was very close to our resort and after arriving to the area late and looking for dinner options, they were going to close within an hour of us arriving. They still served us dinner and did not rush us out. Definitely coming back again here. David was a super host and very friendly.

We had a wonderful meal here. Food was great, super friendly. Our waitress was the daughter of the owners. She was great. Gave us details about sightseeing ideas for the area. Made you feel very welcomed and a great meal after a full day of touring the area. A must stop.

The best place to hit after a day on the slopes!

Service was fine, but the food does not hold up to the way it reads on their menu online. Not a bad vibe in the place, but the vegetarian lasagna was flavorless/frozen and the chicken sandwich somehow lacked what caramelized onions, chevre cheese, and a basil aioli should have provided flavor-wise. Overall a bit of a bummer, and we were sad we spent one of our nights out here.

We stopped in for some dinner and ran the gambit of food from seafood to flatbread. Everything was good, hot and fresh. Nice hidden gem just off the main road. I would highly recommend this place for dinner and sure lunch is just as good.

We had such a good experience as a last minute spot for lunch! The food and sandwiches we got for lunch were amazing. My BLT melt and the fried pork sandwich were so good. The bloody Marys were homemade which were also delicious!! Our waitress was also really great. Definitely recommend.

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor while staying at Smugglers Notch Resort in Jeffersonville, VT. We stopped in for lunch. My wife had a BLT, and I had the Reuben. Fortunately, they were so big that we have supper tonight! We both commented that the sandwiches were the best we had had in a long, long time. The waitress was,very friendly as well. We plan on going back for lunch tomorrow.

The worst restaurant experience I have ever had. This was our 3rd time at the Red Fox but we will not be returning. We arrived at 3 pm on Sunday for an early dinner and was seated in the middle of the dining room in front of an active air conditioner. (In October??) It was freezing. The server did not come back for a while, so I went to the wait station to ask if we could move and we were told to sit anywhere. It was better, but still cold. I walked over to the a/c unit and it was set for 60 degrees and the fan was on high. We left our coats on an noticed that the other patrons all had their coats on, some had hats on too. After ten minutes a waitress came by and asked for if anyone had helped us. We ordered. I wanted a cocktail but ordered hot tea as it was still really cold. Our drinks came. We then waited and waited, still feeling very cold. After about 30 minutes I asked the server why the a/c was on and she said the servers were hot from running around. (there were 3 servers and 6 tables of customers when we were sat) I pointed out that everyone in the room had coats on. The server was clearly irritated but turned down the a/c. We continued to wait for our food and noticed that two other tables that seated after we did were enjoying their meals. We continued to wait. We became very annoyed and realized at this point we would never enjoy our meal so we got up and paid for our drinks. Just then, the waitress brought out our food out of the kitchen I have to wonder if it was sitting there and she wasn't bringing it to us because we had complained about the a/c. Regardless, we left. Why be in business if you just don't care???

Food was typical pub food...good. Service was slow...not sure who our waitress was . The woman who took our order was slow so we asked another person to get what we had already asked for and she brought it right away with a smile.... Mixed signals from this place.

Friendly staff, good portions, tasty food.

Slow service even with plenty of empty tables and lots of servers, mediocre food at best. Booth seats share a backrest with the party behind you, so if there are kids (or adults) bouncing around behind you, you won't have a peaceful meal. Decor seems like it hasn't been updated in 40 years. Maybe that's part of the charm, given the strangely positive reviews. Maybe it just wasn't for us, but we have had much better food in the area so far.

The service was a bit slow but the food was delicious! The wait staff were also very apologetic about the slow service so left with a good impression overall.

A beautiful rustic location. Excellent food and great service.

There were four of us and we all had wonderful meals. My sister Wendy had the vegetable stir fry with brown rice and added chicken, my brother-in-law Ernie had pork schnitzel, my husband Jim had the sesame ahi tuna, and I had the beef steak tips and they let me switch it to have the roasted garlic mashed potatoes and broccolini with asiago cheese and herbs (this usually comes with the grilled Delmonico steak meal). Again we all enjoyed our meals very much and would recommend this restaurant if you want a delicious meal.

This place was hopping’ Made reservations 1 hour before and we were seated exactly on time 4 waitresses also served as bartender, Bus girls, food servers , and did it all with out missing a beat. They worked together as a team and was extremely impressive !!! I certainly hope the owner compensated them well for them making everyone’s experience exceptional The food was great too ! Super busy so it was a little loud but over all totally would go back

On recommendation from our concierge at Smugglers Notch resort, we headed to Martells. Friendly staff. Cool atmosphere. Bar amd restaurant. Has pool tables, a bar area, and a sit down restaurant. Reasonable prices ordered a Maple Manhattam - absolutely amazing! Best I've ever had. Friend artichokes for appetizer. Another great dish. Crispy and light. Wife ordered the Caju Salmon with Brussels sprouts. Cooked perfect and great sauce. Unfortunately for me, I ordered the fish and chips. It was piping hot amd cooked. That's the best part. Tasted like it had been sitting for awhile under a heat lamp. Not Crispy, kinda chewy breading. Chips weren'tuch better. Cannot recommend this dish. Best thing about Martells: Maple Manhattan, Fried artichokes, and the Cajun salmon.. Worst: fish and chips. Might come back and try other dishes...and have another Manhattan.

Very slow service. Was one of four tables last month and waited over an hour for a sandwich and saw some tables around me leave without getting their food. Food is fairly priced and well, fair. Not in a rush to go back here. Locals love it. Fitting for the other side of the ‘notch.’

The food was delicious and Marie's service was impeccable. She paid attention to allergies and we got our meals quickly even if the restaurant was full. We recommend!

The outside looks so cute and I absolutely love the color! The inside leaves a lot to be desired. The bathrooms are in desperate need of a deep clean. The food was good but not memorable. It was just our table and another table at the restaurant and it took a really long time to receive our food. Would try again hoping our visit was just an off day.

Not very good - very dry pork tacos and the soft sheets were not even warmed and tasted out of a bag. The chili was okay but had corn in it - not my favorite at all. Drinks were okay. Service okay. Won't go back though.

Pulled pork tacos are to die for. It’s on the appetizer menu but we could not resist trying them as they were dressed with shaved Brussels, cheddar and a cilantro lime verde. As far as I’m concerned the kitchen could just keep them coming. After a 40 mile bike ride through the hills and valleys north of Jeffersonville this was a perfect stop. And there’s not much in Jeffersonville for lunch. I suspect the place is hoppin’ on the weekends with live music but on a Wednesday afternoon it was chill. This place is probably a local institution. For dessert: Blueberry peach crumble if in season.

Martell’s is the closest restaurant to the Smuggler’s Notch Resort. We first came here for a Sunday brunch. The service was good and food was excellent. The home fries were actually fried! Drinks were served in mason jars. We liked it so much that we came back for dinner later in the week. While the food was still good and the portion was very generous, the service was quite slow. We waited for an hour between our appetizers and the main courses. Overall, it is still a good restaurant as an alternative to the restaurants at the resort. The price is very reasonable too.

The first time we went there the food and atmosphere was warm and had great flavor. Our second visit left us leaving very disappointed.we brought family and raved about our first visit and how good the food was.thus our last visit my husband got the shrimp scampi and it had no flavor. I got the veg stir fry and it was no where's near as good as the first time I got it. The building smelled very musty and made us very nauseous. I am very sad,because our first experience was lovely.

Large menu with lots of options to choose from. Food was delicious recommend the steak tips though the chicken dish i had a taste of was delicious as well. Service was friendly. We would definitely recommend to anyone in the area and will go again if we are in the area.

Staff nice, food tasty but a bit overpriced. I chose the arugula salad with fruit. It was more like a side salad size, minimal fruit and cheese, no nuts. At $15.50 I expected a little more. The strawberry purée made a great dressing as I’m not fond of vinegarettes. But I left the restaurant still hungry.

Stayed at Smugglers Notch and went here a few nights for dinner. Love the food! Cooks Matt and John are awesome! Mac n cheese, pickled appetizers/and Seared Ahi Tuna great! Pork Schnitzel out of this world! Katie bartender makes best drinks. Highly recommend eating here. Everyone is nice and friendly. A great find!

It's not even a joke! Best damn food I've had in almost 7 months. I loved my meal to the fullest, actually had me laughing. I was so impressed. I could feel the vibes for sure... telling me to treat my body better and eat well. The coleslaw was absolutely the BEST I ever had not mention the ranch as well. So damn good. Great place for a snack and a Vermont beer! It's warm and cozy feel...a long with the waitresses with great personalities ALWAYS makes everything better! Perfect spot for an adult parent/child connection! Will stop again while up that way to visit son!!!❤️👌👏

Just had the most amazing breakfast!!! Everything was absolutely delicious! I had the Mountain Man breakfast that came with a pancake, French toast, eggs, bacon AND sausage, homefries, and toast. I'm picky about my homefries but these were so good! Perfectly seasoned and cooked. I don't even like sausage but the sausage links were out of this world! Also can't rave enough about the bacon and pancakes. We all enjoyed our breakfast and can't wait to go back. Staff was great as well. Highly recommend!
