The barbacoa was very good, as was the salsa. I wish they had a hotter salsa available. Service was fantastic. The only reason I didn't rank this 5 stars was because I have had amazing barbacoa elsewhere. Also I'm not from this area.

I'm a H-town fella who stopped by to grab some Barbacoa Tacos for my road trip back home - but, they literally just closed for the day as I walked in. =( However, the staff heard my feelings and they said, NO PROBLEM, "How many tacos u need, boss" =) Therefore, I am grateful for the great food and great service - cause Imma happy fella who's gonna have a full belly on my I10 journey back to H-town. The barbacoa was good but it was mixed with short rib, not a big deal. I also tried the lengua which was delicious!

New owners Bad attitude! Mr. And Mrs. Martinez, the original owner, was so nice to everyone. New Owner went sky high on prices. Quality of food went down, the new owner buys the cheapest meats he can buy. Kitchen is dirty. I do not recommend this experience to anyone.

Best Barbacoa in town!! And the cheapest barbacoa deal in town also. You get 1lb of all meat barbocoa, tortillas (corn and flour ) a 2 liter soda your choice. Salsa (red or green)and some freebies if you are a gracious customer. Can’t go wrong at Martinez Barbacoa Y Tamales. I’ll be back again!

I have only tried their barbacoa and it is always delicious. The price is awesome too . You get 1lb a 2ltr soda and tortillas, for under $20 😋

Great deal on barbacoa,(1 lb., 2liter soda,1 dozen corn tortillas,10 flour tortillas, salsa).

Masa on tamales not cooked enough, barbacoa, pico de gallo, guacamole all tasted like they sat in an open refrigerator uncovered with everything else. All meat barbacoa was not all meat.

Cozy place too order some meat, barbacoa, and morning tacos. Good price. Good value. Tortillas are machine made. But ok. Plenty of desserts,and plenty of drinks too choose from. Right at a corner. Plenty of parking on the side.

Barbacoa and chicharrónes were delicious. Cashier and another worker were very talkative. Made our first time going there very welcoming. Definitely going back again soon.

I got a barbacoa taco and an egg-potato taco- best tacos of my life. Tortillas were perfection.

Disappointed barbacoa was horrible purchased 1lb all meat it was old burnt. Tried to return due to their business hours wasn't able to get a refund.

Drove by this spot yesterday and tried it today,staff was great,the food was good especially the barbacoa...Delicious!the tamales were ok,not enough meat and a bit mushy but I'll come back to try it again.My wife loved all the food just comes to show you not all food is bad we all have our own tastes,plus we are foodies we'll be back...Thanks guys

Excellent! I was born in Mexico and recently moved to San Antonio. Staff is kind, helpful and fast. The green tamales are amazing! Not dry as in most places. The barbacoa is to die for - This is the best I have had in San Antonio. Please be aware they only open from Thur-Sunday and food is to go. —— En español: Tienes que ir - está sabroso sabroso, la mejor opción en la ciudad. Los precios bien, limpio y la gente súper amable. The barbacoa is the only thing I've ever tried there and I love it. The avocados are on point and the salsa is not picoso but tasty and I love the tortillas ..corn and flour. It's not a restaurant environment take out only.

Googled San Antonios best tamales places and Martinez Barbacoa is on list. Tried out pork tamales and yes I totally agree, their pork tamales are delicious! I called in and the clerk was kind to hold 2 dozens of tamales for me. Definitely recommend this place!

We go every Sunday for Barbacoa, Tamales, and Carnitas. The staff are like extended family because they're always so nice and welcoming. The food is delicious. We've been going there for years! And that's because there's like four other Barbacoa places between our house and there, but we've tried them before and theyr ok but we still do the drive because the food is worth it!

Great spot for lean, clean Barbacoa. Good prices.

First time at Martinez. Ordered two dozens: one pork, one beans. Both were good with plenty of filling. Pork was lean and tasty. Beans could take more seasoning, specially ancho pepper. The masa was slightly dry and crumbly. Overall, these are very good tamales and I would buy again, but in my opinion not as good as Téllez. I look forward to trying Delia’s soon and compare to Martinez and Téllez.

God this place was good. My new go to Barbacoa joint while I'm in town. The all meat was delicious and not too greasy. The corn tortillas were solid. Plenty of big red for the taking.

Good Barbacoa and their tamales

Regular barbacoa was really good. Just the right amount of grease for my liking. The carnitas were a little dry, but it could’ve have been the pieces I had so I’ll have to try them again. The pork tamales were great, I like when they’re a little greasy. The included salsa and tortillas were great additions.
