The restaurant reminds me of Pizza from Malta, The food is a 10 out of 10. The mushroom / Gorgongola slice was enough proof for an immediate return. They know what they are doing when it comes to custom pizza.

This is real Roman pizza. The dough and final product are exceptional.

Portnoy was wrong! This place is a 10/10. Hugh squares. Light and airy dough. Crunchy underside. This is awesome. A little tip add the hot pepper infused olive oil to your square. You will love it.

Ordered half a tray to take home. Short wait. Guys behind the counter were awesome, kept checking on me. Ordered some rice balls because they only had a few left on display. Wow. Glad I did, they were absolutely incredible. Pie was still perfect by the time I got it home. Very very impressed.

Great Roman square Pizza, Salads and Paninis

Possibly one of the best pizzas we have ever eaten! Presentation was beautiful, the crust flaky, firm and delicious, the sauce…amazing! If you have not tried Massa yet please do yourself a favor and do so!

I have been to Massa several times over the last few years (last time was last week) and as I was looking to send the information to a friend to recommend this place, I stumbled up on the review section on Google. Saying I am shocked is an understatement. I read a couple of reviews complaining about the food and how dirty the place was. I am a clean freak and Massa has always been super clean in my opinion.. I have lived in Rome Italy for 20 years and know what good pizza and suppli taste like. True, this is not your average American slice, but thank god! Finally something good and different in the area! I also recommend the vegan and Jenny sandwiches!!!

Lack of sauce. Pizza was dry and no flavor.

Wanted to try this pizza because I was intrigued by the process they use to make their dough. Walked in to find half of the tables with dirty plates and napkins and 6 or 7 employees behind the counter, none of which were paying attention to the condition of the dining room. Very disappointed with the lack of cleanliness here.

7PM on a Thursday night and I kid you not...every single table has garbage on it. No less than 6 employees behind the counter and not one single pizza dough in the kitchen. I think I was saved from giardia tonight if the lack of cleanliness is a good indicator. Long story short: I ended up at Fabio's and had fantastic pies and knots.

Phenomenal but different than the regular Jersey pizza place. This is like straight out of Italy.

I have been wanting to try Massa Square for quite some time after reading a few amazing reviews. I am glad that I finally made it andI will definitely be back. I got a sausage slice and a Diablo slice with hot soppresata. The crust is the key. It's some of the best I've ever had. It's light, airy and crispy. You can taste that all of the ingredients are top quality. I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing food.

If one wants authentic Italian Roman Pizza in Teglia (pan pizza) one can either travel to Rome, Italy, and spend thousands of dollars, or one can simply travel to Scotch Plains, NJ and enjoy this gourmet pizza for a fraction of the cost. Massa pizza is more expensive than regular NJ pizza, but that is because it is true artisan Italian pizza with a crust that is out of this world. It is light, airy, crunchy, and delicious; there is none other in NJ which can compare to it.

Terrible service. Terrible pizza. And the manager was rude so I'll add terrible people to the terrible list. Lol this is the worst pizza I've ever eaten in my entire life. It tastes like fecal matter. I'm sure the other food they make does also. This place is garbage. Find another pizza joint. This place is cancerous.

It was my first time trying Massa Roman Square Pizza and I was so impressed. You can see that they use fresh ingredients. The dough is fermented for 3 days and you can taste difference from any other local pizzeria. Definitely stop by and give them some time to make you an exceptional pie. We’ll be coming back to try some of their other pies

Exceptional place. Had Roman square pizza, amatricianni style. You may order 12 slice pie, 6 slice pie, or single slices. Bread is absolutely superb. Signs say bread is fermented for three days. Whatever the secret, it works. Sauce and cheese also fresh and superb. Added caprese salad, which my friend and I fought over, plus house root beer. And the focacci bread snacks, also exceptional. Please go. Soon.

Pizza is absolutely authentic Italian experience. I am so grateful for having this amazing pizza shop nearby. Love their marinara with ham and olives. We have it almost every Thursday.

had a margarita slice , it was dry needed a little more sauce and basil bc it had no basil. Besides that it was a 10/10 atmosphere and good people. Drink options is a plus as well

My son's favorite pizza. I sneak a slice whenever he asks to go. And if we are having a special event at home, he makes me drive a town over to get this stuff.

This pizza is really good. To describe it would be to say somewhere between a Sicilian and a grandma buy more towards the grandma pie slice. Crispy and airy. Very nice flavor. I do feel that they are over priced. Two slices of pizza closes and on close to $10. And depending on the slices you get you could be over $10 for two slices. It’s not as if the slices are humongous to be worth the price. If the slices were a dollar to $1.50 less this would be a five star location.

I could spend time going about all the details but this would never do it justice. Everything about Massa Romano is truly authentic and delizioso. Enjoy!

Square pizza, cutting by scissors and serving on cutting boards....great novelty and gimmick.....but pizza taste left a lot to be desired....hard chewy bread....limited cheese wanna make you keep away from this pizza joint...

This was one of the best pizza l have ever eaten. The crust was amazing, thin and crisp. Excellent mozzarella and tomatoes. The owner made a special pie for us and was more than accommodating. Wee drove up from DC because we had heard so many good things about the pizza here and it was worth the trip. Highly recommend Massa!

I've meet friends here a few times. We have to choose a slice or two. There are a great number of choices - some quite unusual - a bit pricey for a slice. We sat outside our that is the main street of Scotch Plains so noisy. I had to park in the back and walk around - there is no back entrance.

Light airy thin crust with fresh innovative toppings. We asked for two slices of each variety=2 full pans. Each one was amazing. They care about tradition and consistency without compromising ingredients and taste. Always a pleasure. The best place for Pizza. Real Roman pizza🖤 I wish we lived closer to enjoy more often!

This place is fantastic! The food is great and the service matches. I had a slice of the Broccoli Rabe, Sausage and Margherita and all three were delicious. The sauce and topping were amazing and the crust had the perfect mix of chewy and crispy. Highly recommend!

DELICIOUS! Excellent quality, and you can really taste the difference. Nice place to sit and eat, or to go. Service is quick and friendly. Prices very good, especially for the quality.

Pizza is pretty good. Not your traditional pizza but that’s what they are going for. My only issue is if they run out of a type of pizza they sometimes say they won’t make anymore.

The Romans would certainly approve! This place is tops for authentic pizza. The crust is crispy and the taste is phenomenal. Definitely one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had. If you know the rules it’s in the 8-9 range, worth traveling for. They even use Italian ovens. Really a place worth going to if your looking for square pizza that’s simply good and simply satisfying. Ever since this place has opened, I have been a huge fan of the pizza here. It is located less than a block from my office location, so it's very convenient and even better in taste. The 3 day fermented pizza dough and the amazing sauces make all the difference! I highly recommend this place to people who love good pizza.
